The story was sexy, and the romance was pretty sweet. The Morgan family continues to fascinate to some degree. I wish there was the same kind of urgency with this story (and this series) that can be found in some of Pearce's other works, but despite that, it's a fun read.

A cowboy romance with a feud to rival the best of them... With an old mine, a rascal of a gentlemen, and a woman searching for her place in her family and her own world, The Rancher will keep you turning page after page and falling further in love with the characters.

I was between ratings on this one. The writing alone was 4 stars, but I didn't like Rachel 99% of the time, and the ending was a little too abrupt for me. Cauy was a good guy, and I felt like he was upfront about who he was right from the start. He knew he had problems with certain things, but he didn't try to hide that fact. Rachel acted like she was upfront too, but she wasn't. She had random bursts of anger, and then covered everything up with a smile. She was very immature and acted a lot younger than her 23 years. I understand she had a screwed up childhood, but she didn't try to change her behaviors at all. That didn't keep her from acting like Cauy was the one with problems. She ran away from him every time something didn't go her way, she even stomped her foot at him like a child. When she reads something that she shouldn't have (totally not her business), she automatically assumes the worst of Cauy. It's bad when your whole family is coming to his defense, but Rachel still believes the worst. It doesn't take much to change her mind when Cauy talks to her. The ending was very abrupt though. You know that the couple is together, but everything else is just left hanging. I would have really liked an epilogue to finish this one out.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

Disappointed. Two people who have issues to get over. Cauy Lymond inherits his family ranch home from the father who hated him. He is looking for direction in his life after a life altering accident.
Rachel Morgan discovers her father wasn’t her biological father. She goes to meet and get aquatinted with her newly known family of four brothers and grandmother. Cauy’s father always hated the Morgan’s who owed the adjacent property. It seems like old baggage meets new baggage. Maybe I expected more too early in the book to enjoy. I just couldn’t get into it. I am not sure Kate Pearce books will be on my future must read list.

This was a romance set in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas in northern California and is part of the Morgan family series. Rachel Morgan had recently found out she had a family of four brothers and father that she had never known anything about. She had come home to spend time getting to know her newly discovered family, including her grandmother, Ruth. She had just graduated with an engineering degree and was taking a break to figure out what her next steps would be.

Cauy Lymond had received the family ranch in his father's will. Actually, he didn't really know where he belonged. He had been injured in an oil field explosion and after a long recovery was beginning to feel almost normal again. His father had always hated the Morgans who owned the ranch that bordered their property. But, his father had also hated him and treated him with contempt, too.

Rachel and Cauy's first meeting at the abandoned silver mine bordered both properties wasn't the most friendly. But, as they spent a little more time together, they found that they were both a little lost and had wanted to be loved all their lives but had struggled to please those who should have loved them the most. Was it possible to heal and learn to love and be loved? Would the sparks between them grow into something wonderful or burn them alive?

I enjoyed the story but I am not a fan of the descriptive sex scenes. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my review.

What a great story. Rachel and Cauy had great chemistry. Secondary characters engaging too. Loved Grace, would have liked more of her.

I could not put this down once I started reading it. Kate Pearce has created well developed characters that the reader cares about. The story line was engaging and relatable. I need to go back and read the stories in the series.

Cauy Lymond has returned to the ranch that was owned by his father and that his father left him after his death. His first day back he just happens to run into Rachel Ford Morgan who he does not remember when he was teenager before he left. Now getting all caught up and embarrassing himself and upsetting Rachel he goes back to the darken ranch house and that just suits him for that is how he feels in general. Rachel having earned her engineering degree still does not feel like she is part of the Morgan’s. She wants to contribute something. She also cannot understand her attraction to the surly rancher that moved next door to them. the more they spend together she likes him, but he also has a knack of saying the right word at the right time to just piss her off and the last time might have done the job permanently. Now Cauy must figure out a way to fix all of the wrongs he has done and said and pray that she will still be open to still want to talk to him. This is an excellent book that goes along great with the other books in the series. I liked all of the characters and I really liked Cauy and Rachel.

Cauy definitely didn’t like someone trespassing on his property. Living next to the Morgan ranch was just asking for trouble. Didn’t the hate his father constantly shared with him tell him everything? Meeting Rachel was unexpected. Every time he saw her he lashed out only to apologize later. Eventually he slowly begins to let the demons that have plagued his soul since his accident drift away. She would heal him when therapy couldn’t. He would see that life isn’t always what you expect and it is better to love in the moment and find the love you were long denied.

I was excited to read Rachel’s story. The lost Morgan sibling finds her way home but somehow still doesn’t feel like part of the family. Her encounter with Cauy Lymond is less than congenial but their budding relationship seems to help Rachel get closer to her family. If they can get it together. Cauy has his own demons he’s fighting. But he might think Rachel is worth fighting for. 5 stars!

As usual Kate Pearce hits the mark. Her characters are relatable and realistic. I have enjoyed the entire series and finally we get Rachel's story. She's trying to find her fit with her birth family but finds much more when she creates some sizzling chemistry with Cauy. All the characters are liakable. Pearce has great plot twists and her books are always clever and engaging. You definitely don't want to miss the latest addition to a wonderful series.

I was not a big fan of the story. I've never read this author before but the writing was good. I just didn't care for the way the storyline was leading. However, this will not deter me from reading future books from the author.

The family drama at the Morgan Ranch has intrigued me over this series. The characters are interesting with their strengths and weaknesses, their appealing and irritating habits of nature make them like most of us, thus easy to relate to.
The family has faced so many problems over the years, or should I say decades, yet one of the happier events was when they found their little sister, Rachel, again. No, it hasn't been all dancing on the roses to adjust being part of a family Rachel Ford Morgan had no idea existed, but with time and lots of TLC, she is slowly but surely finding her place with the rambunctious crowd that is her biological family. Some of the struggles of that adjustment are shown in this story, and the mix of pain and jubilee Rachel experience aided her way to my heart.
Cauy Lymond has faced troubles and heartache in his life from the young age. The difficult relationship with his father drove him from home at the early age of sixteen. He has made a good life for himself, but paid the price dearly, with an accident that scarred him for life, and a divorce that left him skeptical towards love and romance, happiness in general. He is on the quiet side, an introvert, who avoids big crowds and rather lets other people take care of the conversation surrounding him.
The connection between Cauy and Rachel is immediate, the attraction somewhat sweet in nature, and their physical chemistry sizzles. They seem so perfect together, like two opposite making one harmonious whole, if they could just communicate better with each other, and trust the raging emotions in their hearts and minds.
I enjoyed the story. It is entertaining as it pulled me into the country life; to the troubles and concerns of the rancher's life, to the drama of the families, the neighbors, and unruly guests of the dude ranch. As much as the book is a love story between Rachel and Cauy, it is also a part of the Morgan family saga, that has continued over the series. The whole family is gathered together for the holiday season, and the readers get to witness the progress of their lives and loves.
An enjoyable, inspiring, and touching story of families that sticks together and has each other's backs in all the hurdles of life, and in the midst of it all, two broken souls, people who deserve to be loved and cared for maybe more than most, find the home of their hearts within the safe harbor of each other's souls.

This was my first adventure away from Kate Pearce's historicals, and it was an enjoyable one. Well developed characters, intriguing plot line, overall a very well written novel.

Cauy Lymond is trying to escape memories and ends up on his family's old ranch. Deserted and in need of a lot of TLC, just like he is. Rachel Morgan is trying to find her place in a family she didn't realize existed until recently. When she meets the mysterious rancher next door she just can't keep away. Together they have an explosive relationship.

Well worth a one-click and a rainy afternoon!

Fun Western romance. Past generations can make it challenging for the future generations. I really enjoyed the reality check that was brought into this story. I will be looking for other books written by Kate Pearce.

Rachel is the girl everyone thought disappeared with her mother as a baby. Some suspected her dad murdered them both. That mystery was solved in previous books and Rachel's home with her family on break for the holidays then she's off to find a job. She's still trying to reconcile her family she didn't know she had for years and finding her place in it. Cauy Lymond is the guy who left home at 16 because of his dad. Now that dad has left the old rub down ranch to him and the hate his dad harbored for the Morgans. Things aren't always what they seem though. Both Rachel and Cauy have things to fix in their lives but they just seem to click. I really loved this one for some reason. I've read a few of the others in this series but this one stands out. Rachel and Cauy both had parental problems and secrets from their pasts. Cauy is a tough nut to crack to get into his heart but Rachel is just the girl to do it. Hated to see it end.

Isn't going from heartbreak to HEA, with all kinds of messy things, like drama, emotional scars, falling in love and making it work, exactly what a reader is looking for in a good romance book? Rachel and Cauy's journey to their own is a real page turner. Rachel not only shows her own strength of who she is, but finally comes to terms with her brothers and the past that has always lingered as they truly become a family again. Next door neighbor Cauy comes back home to build the ranch his father left to decay. Fighting his own demons as well as the Morgans isn't as easy as he thought it would be as he falls for Rachel. The drama and suspense as they fall in love, is such a perfect ending with Cauy and Rachel Morgan's story. I have enjoyed reading all of the Morgan stories, and as each book is a standalone read, it is a series I would recommend. I would like to thank NetGalley and Zebra/Kensington Books for gifting me "The Rancher". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 5 Stars!

The Rancher is part of my favorite series by Kate Pearce. The Morgan brothers have all found their place in the world as well as the love of their lives, so now it is time for Rachel Ford Morgan to do the same. Not that she is looking for love, she is looking to find her place and worth in the Morgan family. Rachel may appear as a strong woman but it is really Grandmother Ruth who runs the show. Oh, to be like that feisty older woman!

In an “enemy to lovers” story, Rachel meets Cauy Lymond from the ranch nearby. Since she is new to the family, you can’t say that she is the enemy but she is a Morgan. At least that is how Cauy sees her. In fact, Cauy has issues and baggage from his childhood that he works through to be ready for Morgan friendship, let alone love. He finds surprises about the Morgans just as Rachel had found. It is a story of family and friends while also being a romantic one.

I love this series and have been waiting to hear about Rachel. She has now been reunited with the rest of the Morgans. She meets Cauy and sparks fly but can old feuds be forgotten? This is a fast-paced read with great characters, lots of drama and great chemistry. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

Stubborn and opinionated, Cuay has nothing but resentment towards the Morgans. But the stories he was told don't match what he experiences when the family matriarch promptly enlists the help of her kin to welcome him to the area. Will he allow Rachel to warm his heart? Will he accept that the past is not always what it seems? Will he change his attitude before it is too late? A heartwarming and entertaining read with multiple cameos from previous stories.
