A warm and intoxicating read. Cauy and Rachel both struggle with who they are and have obstacles to overcome. Family feuds do not help either. Thanks to Kensington Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Cauy has returned to his family ranch after the death of his father. Coming home to a run down ranch, and still recovering from a horrible accident, the last thing he wants is to get cozy with the neighboring Morgan family. His father had been fighting them for years, and Cauy grew up never hearing a good word about them. Rachel was just a little girl when her mother ran away from her husband and four boys. In fact, Rachel never knew she had siblings, or a father, until after her mother's death and one of her brothers came looking for her. Now she is back at the family ranch, and sparks fly between her a grouchy neighbor Cauy. Good story overall, but a little disjointed at times. For example, when he tries to push her away towards the end. Or when the lawyer finds some dirt from the past which is never explained in-depth. Or when they find all those gold coins he father stashed in the mine. Or about his "real" dad. Good story overall, but some areas could have been expanded on. Would still highly recommend this book and author. Enjoy many of her books in this series.
Perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Cauy was left the ranch when his dad passed away but it was run down so he has a lot of work to do to get it back in shape. Struggles both Cauy and Rachel go through to find who they are and family and friends help to show they are loved.
**I received a copy of The Rancher from Net Galley and Kensington Books in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. **
The Rancher by Kate Pearce is the sixth book in her Morgan Ranch series. I haven't read the previous books (Although I would recommend doing so) so there were parts that I was lost but was able to follow along some what easy.
Rachel For Morgan has always wanted a family and gained 4 brothers once she found her birth father. Now that she has finished her engineering degree she anxious to put it to use surveying the old silver mine that lies between their ranch and the Lymond's next door. However her first meeting with Cauy is rather testy and before you know it both are trying to catch stolen moments wherever they can. But when the two guest's from the ranch found in the unstable mine causing Cauy and Rachel to be trapped. Will their families reach them in time?
Cauy Lymond's father has left him a ranch but it will need a lot of work. He's still healing from an Oil Rig he was working on exploded. Years of the bitterness his father had toward The Morgans, has made him suspicious when he sees Rachel measuring a crack that developed from the silver mine. But he's searching for his biological dad as well as harboring secrets that will cause some tension between Rachel and him. When he's invited for Thanksgiving dinner by Rachel's grandma he realizes that he's been searching for a families also. But will a long forgotten file cabinet found in the mine reveal what his father hid years ago? When they are trapped in the mine he'll have to combat his fears as well as protect her until they are rescued. Will they find their way through everything and have a happily ever ever?
Cauy has returned to the ranch his father left him after his death. He didn't know what to expect when he returned, but he didn't expect to find the ranch in the state it was in. He was looking forward to some peace & quiet in his life. But that seemed impossible with the Morgan's everywhere he turned.
Cauy's father hated the Morgan's, Cauy didn't know why, but he didn't think fondly of them either. It was just always put in his head by his father, he didn't know any different. But then he meets Rachel Morgan who is visiting her family and they have a spark...but she's a Morgan.
This is an excellent book with fantastic characters. I didn't want it to end! I will definitely be looking for more books by Kate Pearce. Amazing!!!
ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
I received an arc from Netgalley. I thoroughly enjoyed this story between Cary and Rachel. It was neat to see Cauy heal and come out of his shell. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
Amazing author. Plot lines are well developed, characters are three dimensional with a level of spice and conflict that is appropriate for the storyline. She is one of my “go to” Authors and will remain so.
I was provided with an arc of this book via NetGalley for an honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
4.5 Stars The Rancher is sexy, sweet and sensational! Book 6 in the Morgan Ranch series we have Rachel’s story and I loved it. Cauy is amazing and is well suited to Rachel, their interaction is well done and the storyline is fabulous. I look forward to more by this author
The Rancher by Kate Pearce is exacting the kind of story I love reading. However, this version was very frustrating to get into. The words were not in order, the sequence was off. It was very hard to read.
Having Rachel finally get her story was well worth the wait. Ms Pearce’s crafting of Cauy’s traumatic background and of Rachel’s heartbreaking separation from her father and brothers set the emotional tone for the couple’s story. Yet with the story flowing effortlessly, with a fast moving dialog and the type of banter that is found in any loving family this was a story I hated for it to come to an end.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
At long last we have Rachel Morgan's story! This book is part of the Morgan Ranch series and really is better read as part of the series so you can have a full understanding of the Morgan family dynamics. Rachel Morgan has always wanted to make people happy even at the expense of her own feelings. She simply has a need to fix people, so when she meets her new neighbor, Cauy, she sets out to do just that. Cauy may have some issues from both his upbringing and more recently an oil rig accident, but he is certainly not interested in being told what to do by Rachel. He simply wants to be left alone, or does he? This was a very good wrap up for the Morgan series, Rachel not only gets her cowboy but also readers get a chance to revisit with the characters from the earlier books.
Fun romance, well-written. This was my first foray into the author and I feel like I may have stumbled onto a long running series - which personally annoys me just because I like reading series in order and feel like I am missing something.
Characters were nice, but again thinking it’s a series I had some trouble keeping track of the large cast of characters on the side. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the book and would be happy to look into more.
“The Rancher” by Kate Pearce was a perfect road trip travel book this summer. Unfortunately, the multiple galley errors and word omissions were distracting & made it slightly difficult to get completely into the novel, but overall I enjoyed the characters, & the storyline. I will keep this book in mind for romance recommendations, and hope the edits make it to print.
Cauy Lymond is returning to Morgan Valley and the ranch his father left to him after his death. It has been fourteen years and even though he knew it would look different from when he last lived there, he certainly didn't expect it to be in the dilapidated state he found it in.
After an accident at the oil rig where he worked, all Cauy wanted was some peace and quiet and to live his life without disturbance especially from those Morgans at the next ranch.
Of course this isn't to be and when he runs Rachel Morgan off his ranch, it sets off ramifications that he could never have imagined and has him questioning everything he was led to believe about not only the Morgans but his own family as well.
An excellent book with great characters that leave you wanting more when you arrive at the last page. Definitely looking forward to reading more by Kate Pearce.
Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.
