I went into this book with a little bit of trepidation because the first novella in the series didn’t actually have an HEA, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the rest of The Boardroom series. Luckily, there is one, though, unfortunately, it felt underdeveloped. Since there’s very little spillover from the rest of the series, this could easily be read as a standalone.
“No hands.”
His sharp command shocked her eyes open. Any ounce of control she might’ve gained was lost when she lowered her arms back to her sides. She had no power. No say. A spike of panic kicked her heart rate up before his hand fisted in her hair once again. The tight hold wiped out the tension and quieted the noise.
The awful, persistent backdrop of ridicule and failure she’d heard her entire life.”
Bailey has a constant running litany inside her head of how much of a failure she is, and the only time it seems to stop is when she’s able to cede control during a scene. She convinces Jacob – the man known for his talent at fulfilling requests for other members of The Boardroom with kindness – to sign a contract basically giving him full control over her for a night. While they’ve participated in scenes together before, Bailey’s conflict about her desires runs deep, causing her to seesaw between gleefully demanding what she needs and then running away when she gets it. Can what they have in The Boardroom last beyond one night, or will they both back away from what they feel again?
This novella does basically consist of one long sex scene (not necessarily a bad thing, it’s freaking steamy!) and while I think Ms. Aicher excels at showing character development through sex, we don’t have a ton of previous character backstory to build on. I vaguely remember Jacob from the previous books but I don’t remember Bailey at all, so why Bailey feels like such a failure is never actually explored. I think it would’ve been a lot more successful for me had we seen them interacting earlier in the series, and if Jacob had more of a backstory than just being the go-to guy. They do have great chemistry, and there’s definitely a level of understanding and trust between them that made the novella quite sweet to read.
Overall, it’s a quick steamy read, though it left me wishing for more. I’d give it three-and-a-half stars, rounding up to four.
I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I really enjoyed this erotic short novella! As members of the sex club The Boardroom, Bailey has a special request for Jacob - she wants to be his for one night, with no prohibitions. Whatever he wants she'll do. He grants that request in a sinfully sexy night with two other male members of the club. But one night isn't going to be enough once they've shared this experience, so they have to work some things out in order to get their happy ending. If you've been reading other stories in The Boardroom series, you'll definitely want to pick up this one too!
Yowza! Talk about a spicy read!! This is a novella-just one night-within The Boardroom series. It's not necessary to read other books to enjoy this, but it does give you some perspective as to how the Boardroom works.
Bailey wants an anything goes night-no safe word, no outs, nowhere to go-with Jacob. He is the man who takes care of everyone and any situation. He normally aims to please, but he has reservations about this with Bailey. He has some deep seated feelings for her and worries that she is doing this for some unknown reason. She can't even tell him why she needs this, she just knows that she does. There is no one else she trusts implicitly.
Jacob prepares for this night for a few weeks! Just a few members of The Boardroom group are there. There is anxiety and a whole slew of other feelings that play out as the night progresses. Talk about steamy!! Whew! It's getting hot in here!!
At the end of it all, Bailey is left in Jacob's care, and they are both laid bare. The feelings unfold and I loved how it all went down! It was written so well! It squeezed my heart that's for sure!!
If you haven't had a chance to read any of The Boardroom series, please pick them up! You will be very happy you indulged!
This was a really quick read. It is about Jessica and Jacob. Super fast short story and the scenes are hot. Jacob is overprotective and turns alpha male when he was always just in the background. Different but better. It was fast paced I would have liked it just a little longer.
I received this ARC at my request from the publisher via Net Galley for an honest review. Thank you Net Galley!
What a little Gem this book is. It's short, straight to the point. There is hot sexy scene of course but also a story. What a treat. I can't wait for the next book in the Boardroom series.
ARC provided by the publisher in return for an honest review that's my own.
I'm glad this is not the first book in this series I read, because I hate to think that if it was that I wouldn't give the series a chance. I am not a fan of novellas for the very reason that they often leave the characters underdeveloped and the story without much conclusion. This was very much the case with this book.
Through the first two books in this series, we've seen glimpses of Jacob but I don't recall meeting Bailey before despite the book making references to previous scenes in the boardroom. This entails the issue with a novella, we don't have enough of the backstory to appreciate the connection these two are supposed to have. There is one intense scene in the board room in which Jacob feels incredibly protective of Bailey and is drawn to her yet we don't have the foundation for this.
Happily waiting to move on to the next full length book in this series.
This was a fantastic, short addition to the The Boardroom series.
Bailey wants a session in the The Boardroom, the catch no safeword and anything goes. She signs in contract with Jacob and trusts that he will make sure everything goes well.
After weeks of planning for Jacob, it is finally Bailey's day. He is extremely protective of her and never wants to let her go, even after the scene is completed. But the question is will Bailey stay or run away from him?
I loved both Bailey and Jacob. I loved getting some more insight into Jacob after reading about him in previous books. The only thing I wished for was a longer story.
Overall, this was a fantastic, sexy, quick read into our favorite boardroom.

Another fantastic add to the Boardroom series. This one is my favorite. Bailey and Jacob.
Bailey wants a no holds barred, no safe word, anything goes session and she chooses Jacob to handle things. Jacob is the go to man, the man who takes care of everything and everyone. Maybe except Jacob. Jacob has to think long and hard on signing this contract with Bailey and has a few questions for her. Bailey has some problems really articulating what and why but the two seem to speak silently and Bailey trusts him implicitly.
The night comes when this highly unusual circumstance plays out and Jacob has been preparing for several weeks. Trevor is there to oversee things and only two members show up. Derek who I remember from a previous book and a new man I can't recall hearing about. While the night plays out Jacob is a tad protective of Bailey but not too obvious but it's clear things are shifting between them.
At the end of the session, Jacob is left with the aftercare of Bailey and we see things unfold between them. The self dialogue is great and all of these are so well written. Loved it!!
It's a stellar read.

Wonderfully wicked, moving and real
Lynda Aicher's Signed Over, the latest offering in her The Boardroom series literally took my breath away.
There is no doubt that the chemistry between Bailey and Jacob was off the charts. The sensuality of the story was beautiful, but what truly amazed me was the depth of feeling and heartbreaking emotions she elicited from Bailey and Jacob in the space of one evening. Absolutely amazing. I can hardly wait to read the next offering in this series, Strictly Confidential.
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.
