Rough Ride - A. S. Green

A sexy little short read by A. S. Green.

Tess and Luke set the barn ablaze with their instachemistry and their seductive banter.

Tess comes across as a smart sassy young woman, hell bent on experiencing life and Luke just wants to work with his horses but the minute they set eyes on each other, all their best laid plans go out the window.

Set in a summer camp, the main characters are definitely young adults. There was some serious heat and sexy scenes, but this book was an easy to like read.

Enough depth to the characters and storyline without getting bogged down.

Great short read. Thanks to the publisher for providing this arc through Netgalley.

The author did a great job of setting up the instalust between the characters from very early on and then dragging out the progression of their relationship so that it wasn’t too “wham bam thank you ma’am.” The epilogue was super sweet too. 3 out of 5 wine glasses.

This ended up being better than I was expecting. It was obviously a very quick read, and didn't actually make me roll my eyes until the end. For example: after they're busted, Luke is fired but the camp owners allow Tess to stay. As Luke is driving away, the owner lady has her hand on Tess's shoulder holding her in place. Because it's not like Tess is a mature adult able to make her own decisions if she chose to go with him. Then at the very end we're thrown something about Luke almost losing Tess with the birth of their kid or something. I have no idea why. Pointless information should just be left out. Luke and Tess waste no time jumping in the saddle together (pun fully intended because of their first real interaction) which, to me, is just crazy. But throw logic out the window and it was pretty good. It did the heat well, so I just wish there was more of that.

I didn't like this book at all. I understand it was a novella and it would be a short story but it just seems tossed together.

This is the type of novella that I like. It has enough background that I feel like I can believe the relationship. It also gives you "what comes next" in an epilogue. Rough Ride is a short story about two people who can't deny the heat between them. They are willing to jeopardize everything to be together. I'll admit, I didn't love the setting. I could understand why the owners had a no fraternization policy given the hot scenes between the main characters. However, I did like Tess and Luke together. It's a quick read and one I do recommend.

For a short story with a dash of drama, HEA and all the other stuff you're expecting? It was ok. What kind of icked me out was that it was set at a kids camp and, while both were legal adults, the idea of Luke going for the young, hot sorority girl.

For a 'dirty bits' short story this was really enjoyable and surprisingly well fleshed out considering it's length. The chemistry between Luke and Tess was very hot and I really delighted in their interactions. I also really appreciated the inclusion of the epilogue to finish off the story.

Fun and flirty one-hour read. While it's a short novella, there's enough plot and character development to give it the appropriate amount of depth. Really enjoyed the main characters because neither was a cliche: she wasn't the shy virgin looking to be seduced, and he wasn't the over-possessive, roped-obsessed cowboy. They each had a past, but discovered a mutual interest and tried to ignore it in deference to their employer's no-fraternization policy.

Good story. I love these quick reads. Great to finish a book over my lunch hour. As always, pretty insta-lovey, but for a quick read, that's all I expect. SUPER hot read.

Great story about how the choices you make can lead to unimaginable outcomes... good and/or bad. Little did Tess know that by taking a summer job would lead to falling for Luke, a sexy cowboy. More than the summer heat rises between these two as they explore all their sexual desires. Despite the instant attraction, Luke and Tess are in this relationship for the long haul and no amount of disapproval from their summer camp owners will thwart their lives.
