I loved this novel! This author's novels just keep getting better and better. I loved the chemistry between all of the characters. I love how the reader is able to reconnect with characters from previous novels. So good! I loved the dialogue and the banter between Sam and Dahlia. The novel grabbed me from the very first page and did not let me go until the very last page. I grew to love Dahlia once I figured her out. I loved how sweet she was and I loved her with Sam. I was sorry that the novel ended I just wanted it to keep on going. I loved it!
Dahlia McGregor knows all she wants out of life is to get engaged, settle down and have kids. Unfortunately after a failed engagement it seems that all the eligible men have left the market. She had a fun fling with Sam Brand at her sister’s wedding knowing that she would never have to meet him again but is mortified to find that Sam has turned up to recuperate after being injured in the line of duty. How is she going to face him again?
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The author did a good job writing a hero who is a complete jerk, I don’t remember being so infuriated with a male hero and his language, especially his constant use of the “f…” word. Even if he redeems himself later, his verbal aggressions towards the heroine were hard to take. Sam is just insufferable, aggressive and a disagreeable man. He's also genuine, loyal and devoted and he falls completely for the heroine.
The heroine is a goody-two-shoes character, nothing remarkable about her. But she was able to reveal the hidden positive dimensions of Sam’s personality.
I liked the secondary characters and the writing style, but missed more about the geographic location; I felt, as a reader, that I needed some more details about it.
I struggled with this book. I picked it up and put it down more times that I could count. To be honest, I could not stand the male lead, Sam.
I am a huge fan of the author but I have not really loved this series. It is a series about 3 sisters who all live in South Africa and the men they fall for. It is book 3 and is supposed to stand alone but to really understand what has happened you should read the first two books before this one.
Sam is Mason's ex partner at work and best friend and he and Lia meet at Mason's wedding to Daisy (Lia's sister). They have a one night stand. Then they go their separate ways until Sam gets knifed and comes to town to hide from the media and recuperate.
Lia is the good sister. She dreams about marriage and babies, has no real job, lives with her parents, volunteers alot and secretly is at college online. She has sex with Sam expecting to never see him again and had he not got injured that is what would have happened. But when he comes to town she helps to take care of him and they form a friendship and eventually a sexual relationship occurs.
Did I love this story? NO
Was it well written? Yes
My issue is that their is no real connection beyond sex with Sam and Lia. Sam is kinda a jerk, womanizer and I did not like him at first. Lia was not my favorite person either. Her goal of marriage and babies, living with her parents, did not endear her to me either. At times I felt she needed to grow up more.
Natasha Anders wrote two slow burn stories that I love. Seriously, I adore the first two books in the "Alpha Men" series. Oddly, I didn't like either one book at the beginning and had to keep reading into the first couple of chapters before I realized I was hooked. To my surprise, it didn't take me a couple of chapters with The Wrong Man...it took about four chapters before I fell for these characters.
Lia (Dahlia) is a woman who has lost herself. She wanted to be married and have children, only to find that her perfect fiance' was a creep and no other Prince Charming has made his appearance. A sex god in the form of Sam Brand made a two-night appearance, but she knows he is out of the picture and that he really wasn't what she needs.
Sam Brand is a womanizer, oozing fake charm and sex appeal, and honestly...he forgot Lia as soon as he left her small town. I wanted to counsel Lia into giving him up because he was just a hotter creep. Then disaster struck and he suffers near fatal injuries, then finds himself back in Lia's town again. Lia still wants Sam, Sam still wants Lia, so they decide on a "benefits' relationship. There is no slow burn in this story; Lia and Sam light it up. But, Lia sets some ground rules to keep herself from falling for him. And you guessed it - the rules don't work. Sam has changed, and he's a great guy, surprising even himself with his changes.
I enjoyed this last story (presumably) in the series, although book one is my favorite. All three sisters have found their happy ending and I am going to eagerly await Anders next book. She has become a must read for me.
Sorry but I give this one only 2 stars and that goes for the writing. I just hated Brand/Sam, he was more than a jerk, he was awful. Verbally abusing Lia for 40% of the book was just too much for me to swallow. Sorry but those kind of "cocky charmers" are not my cup of tea so to say, actually I hate characters like that. To add insult to the injury he was denying his feelings for Lia almost until the end, rolling my eyes.
As I said at the start the writing was very good and the book had a fast pace. Everything else unfortunately was a major disappointment.
Book three in this series - although I don't think it matters if you have read the previous books I do want to go back and read them now.
In an out of character move, Lia had a fling with Sam Brand, never expecting to see him again. But when he ends up back in town after being injured at work, she ends up helping him out. He is just looking for enterainment and someone to amuse him while he recovers. She may be attracted to him, but she wants a husband and to settle down - so he is the wrong man. But they end up having a fling anyway- what's the worst that can happen?
Entertaining read that keeps you interested throughout.
First book I have read by this author and looking forward to reading more.
You learn a bit about Sam and Lia at the end of "The best man" and I was immediately intrigued. This is the third book in a series of sisters and Dahlia is the middle sister. Labeled the pretty one.
Dahlia was engaged to be married but broke off the engagement after finding out her fiance was a jerk who tried to sleep with her sister.
Then comes Sam Brand who's crude and anti commitment. Total bad boy.
All Dahlia wants is to find love. After a string of bad dates she agrees to a no strings attached relationship with Sam.
Sam takes a bit to grow on you, but he does, in the best way. He seemed to be completely blindsided by sweet Dahlia and I loved every minute of it.
Not only does this book give you all the feels, its also laugh out loud funny in parts which I really enjoyed.
I loved all the characters and I'm a bit sad this seems to be the last in this series. I absolutely loved and enjoyed it.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
What happens in the prologue is rather seedy and doesn't endear the reader to the hero.
It takes a while to warm up to Sam, he's very crude. He's also meant to be British but apart from the occasional 'mate', I didn't think he came across at all British.
It's an entirely predictable storyline. Sam has never been in love and is a commitment phobe. Dahlia wants love, marriage and commitment. In the meantime she agrees to a sex only arrangement with Sam that has rules but of course it's not long before they are breaking them.
Sam redeemed himself in the end. A sweet, angst free romance.
I absolutely love this author. The Wrong Man is the third book in a series about three sisters called Daisy, Daffodil and Dahlia. This book is about Sam and Dahlia and I love the chemistry between them. Sam, a man who is used to one night stands doesn't know what hit him when he meets Dahlia. This book is a nice ending to the series.
This is the third in a series about three sisters called Daisy, Daffodil and Dahlia who were labelled by their loving parents as the clever one, the prickly one and the pretty one. Poor Dahlia, all she wants is to love and take care of someone. She was engaged to be married until she found out that her controlling fiancee was also trying to blackmail her sister into sleeping with him. She gave up her job at his behest and since then she hasn't managed to get a full-time job. Instead she spends her time doing good. Entertaining at the senior centre, reading to children at the library, volunteering at the animal sanctuary etc. Her clothing reflects her homebody personality, all cardigans, longer dresses and buttoned up collars.
The set up for this book takes place in the previous book but in a nutshell, Lia acts totally out of character and has a one night stand with Daisy's future husband Mason's former business partner Sam Brand at the mixed hen and stag nights. Then, despite her best intentions she did it again at the wedding. Having only slept with the cheating fiancee before Sam, she is horrified at her lack of judgement, particularly because Sam Brand is a foul-mouthed, over-confident, brash man who she dislikes intensely.
Sam gets injured saving a pop star from a deranged stalker. Desperate to escape Hollywood. London and the paparazzi he asks Mason if he can stay at his cottage in South Africa, little even thinking that he might run into prissy princess Dahlia in town. truth be told he'd forgotten all about her and their one night stand. But then Dahlia is pushed into preparing the cottage for his arrival and is a witness to his inability to do the simplest of things like pour a drink or dress himself with his dominant arm in plaster. Irritable, in pain and bored, Sam decides it would be fun to get prissy Dahlia to act as his cook/ cleaner/ driver for a few weeks while he simultaneously tempts her into another torrid encounter in the sack.
When I read the start of this in the previous book The Best Man I hated it. I hated Sam and Dahlia seemed too prissy for my tastes. Boy was I wrong! I just love me a bad boy meets a goody two shoes story and this was a brilliant example. Sam never lost his foul mouth or his crudity, right up to the end he said some things which were just awful and (almost) unforgivable. In fact the only reason I forgave him (as a character) was because he seemed to be equally as horrified by what he said. Dahlia grew on me, from the sort of po-faced, do-gooder with an obsession about getting married that I love to hate she turned into one of the nicest, sweetest, funniest (and sexiest) heroines I've read in a long time.
After the angst-fest of the last book, this is back to the sparkling, frothy, delightful novels that I love from Natasha Anders. I devoured every page with glee. I loved all the characters and nothing felt contrived. A winner.

Phew....rating this book isn't easy. The first third of it, I couldn't stand our hero, Sam Brand. Honestly, this guy, while telling her the whole time that he is no guy for a relationship while knowing that our heroine Dahlia is looking for Mr. Wright and that she would be hurt, he never stops fantasizing about her and pushing her. Yes, they had a passionate night or two before but she says no and he doesn't even remotely accept it. Oh, yes, there are many excuses but in the end, it's just that - he doesn't accept her decision and keeps pushing her.
At about 40%, I got the first spark of something more from him. Don't worry, it's just a spark and it will take him a lot longer to become nice (when she has given in to his demands...) but finally, the last 20%, he turns out to be kind of nice. Alright, really nice and a bit cute. In between there are times when he is getting better and I start to like him but...
I really love Lia's family even though I don't exactly share her opinion that they are so very supportive of her. They love her and they want to protect her but I don't consider their actions as supportive.
Apart from that, her family is very welcoming and warm. I loved to read how Sam slowly falls for the small joys of life in a little city. Imagining the big bad-ass CPO (as in close protection officer) waltzing with...well... it's nice.
A rough ride for me, not easy for those involved either but in the end I sat there with a big grin on my face despite all that.
As I said, it is not easy to rate this book, I've read several other by the author already that I really enjoyed, this one and I, we have rather mixed feelings about each other.
Wow! Great book!! I really enjoyed this book! It's Lia and Sam book, Sam owns a private investigation firm and Lia is a substitute teacher, they meet earlier at a bachelor party and although it's definitely not like Lia they hook up!! And when they meet up again they hook up another time lol that's it until Sam doing a job for a high profile rockstar gets stabbed!! Well the little town he goes to, to rehab his injuries Lia lives there!! After a bunch of hilarious encounters Lia ends up helping him recover they both have demons to overcome but it's an interesting read to get there!! This book is really really funny has some good steam and a great build up! Definitely don't miss out! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me! Now I have to go back and read the other two!! You definitely don't have to read them to get the story but this was so good in definitely reading them all!!
