I fell in love with Zoran and Saakshi!!
Zoran a hard merc but with a tender heart, Saakshi who having a hard life was still optimistic.
The story flowed really well and was fast paced. It sort of reminded me of Star Wars in a way, but not a copy of it.
My only complain would be that I wouldve preferred a little more of background pertaining to how such an advanced people like the Budheya couldve succumbed to an "inferior" people? Maybe we will get more info in the next books?
The next book involves Sila and Ur’quay Star Captain.!
I am looking forward to more stories from this series!
Not bad, not bad at all!! the story was well put together and the characters likable and engaging, I quit enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this writer!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I can't tell you how much I loved this book. It has adventure, romance, space aliens description and more. I read the book straight in one night and can't say more then I simply loved this book.
It has well written characters and world. There are three main species of aliens in the book (although more actually excist they are not talked about extensively) , all of which are.hard to remember without looking them up.
Saakshi, our main female character is a rebel of one species. She was sent to prison by another species for being a rebel. He prison contract was bought by a semi-nice trader and she ends up working in his bar as a waitress. Eventually one of the alien species that put her away rakes unhealthy interest in her. In order to protect herself she makes a deal with a member of mercenary species, Zoran. He actually takes exception to the deal Shaakshi offers as it's against his moral code to take advantage of anyone (Especially a slave or prisoner who doesn't have the choice). However, he wants the women enough that he takes her for himself anyway.
Zoran is my favorite character in the book. He is tall, he is strong and more then a little devious. Oh did I mention he's covered in tattoos. Yes he's covered in them. He's my ideal alien man. I want him. And as much as I hate to give my guy to anyone else, Shaakshi seems perfect for him. Shes strong in her own way, smart, and has alot of integrity.
You will fall in love with them both on their epic journey.
Sadly this one made it to my DNF shelf @ 39% I just couldn't seem to push myself to finish. The premise it promising and the world building the author has done is admirable. The imagination it must take to create such detailed worlds and species is mind blowing. That said, the story was a bit slow and dragged in places. There was too much detail and drawn out sentences that lost meaning by the time the chapter closed. This might be a formatting issue but it didn't help the story along.
The MCs didn't have any real strong connection or chemistry to explain their sudden devotion to each other. The emotional pull was missing and I couldn't really warm up to either MCs. I've shelved this one for now but maybe a bit later, I'll be able to pick this one up again and give it another shot. Until then . . .
DNF. Had I realized this was more of a romance novel than scifi/fantasy I probably would not have asked for it. The story is filled with many types of humanoid aliens very close to those populating the Star Trek universe. The sexual interactions are very erotic but not what I want to spend time reading. The writing style is otherwise confusing and wordy. The papragraphs are overly long and detailed. They should have been tightened up in editing.
