Ah. Your classic amnesiac boss plot line. And. I. Loved. It. This was a truly cute story (albeit perhaps not the most original of storyline’s) and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. As I was reading it, there were several moments where you could feel a physical pain when the characters were hurt - something that I find is the hallmark of effective writing.

Characters
These characters - Lori and Jackson - I really did like their relationship and watching it grow and change with the whole amnesia situation. Seeing them working together and try and bluff their way through things was really quite fun. If I had one note though, it’s that I would have liked to have seen a greater development of Lori’s character.

Storyline and Writing
Again, although perhaps not the most original of plot devices, the amnesia experience was quite interesting to have, particularly given their past. Not to mention, as far as creating heartbreak and difficulties for their relationship, it worked wonderfully. It created a sense throughout the story that there was something hanging over their relationship. If I did have one complaint, it would be that Lori’ love for Jackson seemed a bit...over the top st first. Declaring him the “love of her life” in the beginning, when we really hadn’t seen why she felt as such nor anything of their relationship prior.
As for the writing - I’ve always liked Victoria Davies’ writing. It’s clear, uncomplicated and writes heartbreak wonderfully.

Overall
I really did enjoy this novel. For a quick, chilled and fairly fluffy romance that will have your heart breaking a little but also laughing - this is a great option.

N.B: I was very kindly sent an ARC of this novel by the publisher and the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

This was a good story with an interesting premise. I wish we'd got to see more of Jackson before the accident to really understand how much he changed or see them interact more with other people. There weren't a lot of twists or surprises but it was still an enjoyable read.

This book was AH-MAZING!!! I can’t believe I let it sit on my tbr list for so long.

I’ve been in sort of a book slump. I always try to finish every book I start because, really that’s only fair to the authors who work so hard on these books. But not having a great book in awhile was wearing me down a bit. Sooooo not the case for this book. I was engulfed in it from the very beginning. You really start of knowing nothing about these 2 characters other than being through into one quitting her job because she’s in love with her boss. It was so well written. Written in dual POV to get inside the head of each of them. Loved that Jackson was this clean slate once waking up in the hospital! The chemistry between Jackson and Lori was incredible, and that ending!! I was just as nervous as Lori was standing in front of that elevator hearing him call her name. All the feels!! Fantastic read. Do not wait on this book y’all! Really! This is the first book I’ve ever read from Victoria Davies, but I will definitely be reading more!!

Amnesia stories can be hit or miss for me but unrequited love is a big draw so I gave this one a shot. It fell somewhere in the middle for me hence the 3 star rating... cute story, interesting premise. Good read.

It took me a while to read this novel. Not sure why because I was entertained for the end of the novel. I did like that I was able to get into each main characters head and their chemistry was noticeable. As for the time it took me to read it, I can’t say if it was my lack of wanting to read, since I’ve been in a reading slump or if it was the novel itself.

Unrequited love and amnesia make this a fun read. Predictable but another solid contemporary romance from Victoria Davies

I thought this was an interesting book especially given the reason that Jackson ends up injured in the first place. I could certainly understand why Lori decided to stay with the company, although I couldn't wait to see how things would pan out if Jackson fully recovered from his injuries and realized the role Lori played in what happened to him. Overall I liked the story.

For me one of the best story about memory loss. Jackson wakes up in a hospital without his memory. The only golden line between his previous life is Lori who is also his assistant. So he is a CEO of a firm who is in a delicate situation so he and Lori have to act until he gets his memory back. Jackson doesn't like personality he is, he is not eager to be the same and there is a difference also he is attracted to his assistant. Lori has a secret crush on Jackson for years and she is staying by his side out of guilt, and she is really liking the new Jackson especially because this Jackson looks at her different and is asking for her to cross the line. But what will happen when his memories come back? I really liked the book it was great to see how unhappy was Jackson with discovering his way of life and trying to change. Really enjoyable book to read.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

This is an endearing office romance, one where it takes being hit by a car to bring the billionaire boss, Jackson Sinclair, to realise just how he feels about his executive assistant, Lori Carlow. Mind you, that car that hit him was being driven by that very same assistant as she was driving away after handing in her resignation - but he’s forgotten all of that! As you can imagine, when he loses his memory she feels she has to stay working for him to help cover up his amnesia and is encouraged to do so by his family. However, the other impact of the accident is that Jackson doesn’t like the cold, workaholic, driven person he was and definitely starts developing romantic feelings for Lori. Should she confess what happened or keep quiet and enjoy their developing romance? What will happen when he finds out the truth?

This is a story of hidden feelings. Both main characters had romantic feelings for the other but both also kept those feelings strictly under lock and key, never acknowledging their attraction to each other in any way, shape or form - until after the accident. Whilst hostile takeover bids must be thwarted, this is a cute, entertaining and light hearted easy read, story, just right for escaping into when you don’t want anything too complex or deep - a great addition to this series.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

This is one of those books that is easy for me to see what's going to happen next.
Lori is in love with her boss and can't deal any more so she quits her job and while leaving.....well she hits him.
So.....now Jackson has amnesia and Lori feels like she needs to keep his company going until he regains his memory.
He feels something about her and we later learn he liked Lori before the accident even happened.
Over all this was cute and easy to follow. I went through the book quickly and think most romance readers will find a happy place reading the book.

Eh... it was a cute story, but it was missing that WOW factor.

Lori decides to quit her job because she's in love with her boss who doesn't even know she exists. So let's start with this... she's so head over heels in love with him that she's willing to give up a career changing position as an EA to the CEO of a multi million dollar company with no future job lined up. Let's talk about how she thinks she's in love with a man that she knows nothing about outside of the office. She's told everyone she's leaving... except her boss. Then when she tells him she doesn't even have the decency to provide notice?

Then she hits him with her car on the way out, giving him amnesia. His brother tells her that she needs to help him fake it until his memory comes back or until he finalizes the deal he's working on. Through her guilt, she agrees.

The rest of the book is fairly predictable. They start having feeling for each other, but the fact that Jackson still hasn't regained his memory weighs heavily on Lori. They work so closely together that it becomes impossible to fight the attraction.

I'm a huge fan of Ms Davies' books. Her stories are always engaging, fun, sexy, and full of surprises. They also pack an emotional punch I never expect but always enjoy. This book is no different.

Giving Up the Boss by Victoria Davies is the story of Jackson and Lori.
Lori has been in love with Jackson her boss for a while but has made the decision to leave him and the company...no longer able to hide her pain. But when she goes to leave she ends up hitting Jackson which has caused him not to remember and his family thinks its 'best' if Lori stays and helps him along with the company through this set back. But the after accident Jackson is so much more caring and overall changed man. But Lori is worried how he will fee about her once he knows she left the company and hit him with her car....
Good office romance story!

Executive assistant Lori has finally said those three little words to her boss, Jackson Sinclair, that have haunted her for months–– Goodbye, I quit. Yep. That happened. Then she sort of ran over him. It was an accident. No. Really. It was. Now he can’t remember anything––and it’s up to her to keep his billion-dollar corporation running until he gets his memory back.

Billionaire Jackson Sinclair wakes up in a hospital to a life he can’t remember. The only person who feels familiar is Lori. The more he learns about his past, though, the more it disturbs him. He was kind of cold, and he can’t imagine why the lovely Lori put up with him. And she is lovely, as in, he can’t stop thinking about her. But he has a company to save, and there’s no time for that sort thing. Especially when it seems like his assistant is hiding something from him.

As his condition shows no signs of healing, Lori can’t help wonder what’s best, telling the truth about his accident and losing the man of her dreams or keeping quiet and living the best lie of her life.

***Review***

I'm sure that this wasn't meant to be a comedy...however, this was sort of funny to me and don't ask me why but I didn't really like Jackson at first and when he had his accident - I kind of laughed out loud and then the more I thought about it, I thought "I'm kind of a sick person!" I kind of enjoyed the fact that he didn't remember things because he wasn't the best. This book was really sort of cute and had me at the first chapter. It could have gotten caught in the trope but it wasn't! It was really enjoyable.

Lori finally finds the courage to quit her job as an EA to Jackson, the company's CEO. However, she won't be able to leave after all. While driving away, she hits him and he wakes up at the hospital with amnesia. Now Lori finds herself helping him go through the next weeks. She always had a crush on him and this new Jackson makes it even harder for her to resist him! How'll everything go down? Will Jackson remember again? And when he do, how'll he feel about Lori?

I really enjoyed this book. It's fast-paced and a little funny. The story is equally sexy and sweet. It was nice to see a different, more real Jackson. The chemistry between Jackson and Lori is so hot! This book is suitable for a light afternoon read or to take it with you at the beach!!

We’ve all been in the situation when we wanted something/someone we couldn’t have. In this case, Lori wanted Jackson Sinclair, sexy, CEO, billionaire, and… her boss. There’s no way she can continue being his executive assistant, so she does the logical thing. She quits! In the process of quitting, she sorta, kinda… runs him over with her car and gets amnesia. He wakes up in the hospital a completely different man. To save his company, Lori and Jackson must make the company, competitors, and his board believe everything is absolutely fine. Can they keep up the charades without slipping up? Will regaining his memories revert Jackson back to who he was?

I thought was absolutely adorable. Lori was a godsend to Jackson. She was a complete gem she didn’t think he paid attention to. This was a charming story which included an office romance. The Jackson Sinclair the readers get to know is completely different from the Jackson his staff knows, and he’s truly lovely and down to earth. Lori was sweet and you felt for the predicament she was in. Do you tell the truth and watch him grow to hate you, or do you tell him the truth and hope the person he is now will be the same person after he regains his memories? It was a tough situation, and it was well told. This was engaging, funny, and sweet. This was my introduction to Ms. Davies, but I look forward to reading more from her. Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled: Indulgence for giving me the chance to read and review. For also showing anyone can turn over a new leaf, and become a better person.

I received a copy of GIVING UP THE BOSS on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.

Five stars and here's why:

GIVING UP THE BOSS is a hella-fun read. No joke. I snort-laughed so many times my cheeks hurt. Seriously. Victoria Davies delivers the most entertaining office romance complete with a side of sexy.

I love the premise. Lori is in love with her boss, Jackson, but he’s all work and no play. She decides to quit and accidentally runs him over in the parking lot and now Jackson’s got amnesia. He’s a completely changed man . . . and boss. And he’s set his sights on Lori. The story is entertaining and I simply devoured this book in one sitting.

If you love hella-hot bosses, savvy assistants, and a fun, entertaining read, then this book is for you! Highly recommend!

This is a light and quick read about an executive assistant who is leaving her job because she's been in (unrequited) love with her billionaire tycoon boss. Of course, she accidentally hits him in the parking garage on the way out and he now has amnesia. Similar to the story, I had to overlook witnesses, cameras, police, car damage, ambulance reports, etc. Once Lori also stopped worrying about him finding out (which really didn't seem like a big deal given everyone's lack of reaction), I enjoyed her character a lot more. The two clicked.

I'm not 100% sure how I feel about Jackson's immediate and relentless come on's even fully knowing she's his assistant. #MeToo makes me all too aware of these lines even in harmless, fictional and fun reading now and takes me out of the moment.

The ending is what got me. Hit me right in the gut and gave me all the feels for Lori even knowing we were leading up to this. It was a great ending.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
