Lori Carlow is having a really bad day, she’s resigned from her role as Executive Assistant to Jackson Sinclair, a man with whom she is desperately in love, only to run him over in the car park. When Jackson turns out to have amnesia, on the brink of a hostile takeover of Sinclair Enterprises, his brother Marc begs Lori to stay on and help Jackson pretend that he is still running the business while he, the brother, tries to tie Marc goes to Australia to secure an alliance to keep the business in the family.

So, a ridiculous plot is hatched where Lori moves into Jackson’s palatial home and briefs him on everything he needs to know for any meetings. They use the excuse of his broken arm to divert suspicion. Of course, post-accident Jackson is a changed man, no longer the cold driven CEO that Lori knows, this man is compassionate and VERY interested in Lori, but with the guilt of having caused the amnesia and the little secret of her resignation between them how can Lori reciprocate, especially since any day Jackson could regain his memories.

I felt that this was just too slow and too repetitious and there was too much of Lori and Jackson having late night meetings in his kitchen. When they have to go to a black tie event and Jackson insists on her going as his date, despite her advice and the snide comments being made by one of his subordinates I just lost the will to carry on reading.

This wasn’t a bad book, the writing was good and I liked the premise, I just wanted it to be more about the two of them managing to fool the board and the shareholders rather than introspective angst. Overall, I just didn’t want to keep reading and every time I picked my Kindle up this wasn’t the book that I chose to read.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Well, wasn't this just a lovely little gem! Yes, I'm being completely serious. A longish afternoon read which flows quickly and happily along. I loved both characters, however, I believe my favorite was Lori. I say this because she was open and told the truth even if she could've gotten by with it. How many times have we seen that in books and wished, "Gah, will you just tell the truth and get it over with.?" No worries with Lori.... My hat's off to her and Ms Davies for giving her that wonderful personality and ethic.

There were a few editing errors, but not so blatant that it took away from the book. A really good job Ms Davies. I look forward to reading more of your work.

4.5 Stars!

Giving Up The Boss by Victoria Davies is an entertaining novel. This is the third book I have read by Ms. Davies, and I will continue to seek out her new offerings. If you are looking for a standalone romance with a well-defined couple, a corporate setting, and sexy love scenes, then Giving Up The Boss is for you.

Executive Assistant Lori Carlow is in love with her boss, CEO and billionaire Jackson Sinclair. Lori is an excellent EA and she loves her job and the company. However, she believes she is so in love with Jackson, that she cannot work for him any longer. So she reluctantly resigns, gets her things and heads out. Being extremely upset, she accidentally hits him with her car as she exits the parking garage. Jackson ends up with a broken wrist and temporary amnesia. In order to ensure that his company remains afloat, Jackson has to continue to run his business without letting on that his brain has been injured. Lori agrees to stay on and help him run the company and his life, until his brother is able to takeover, or until his memory returns.

This is a well-written book, and Lori and Jackson are interesting, complex and genuine. They are a hot and fun couple, and Ms. Davies evolves their love story quite beautifully. If you enjoy a book with a lot energy and passion, then this novel is for you.

This was the first book I've read by this author and I found it to be a fun, enjoyable, endearing read. Jackson and Lori relationship was a slow developing, slow burn kind of build up that I really enjoy and the amnesia aspect of the story just made it even more enjoyable! Fun, flirty contemporary romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

Lori has been the executive assistant to Jackson for years, watching him, loving him, but he has never noticed her. She is part of the wallpaper. She finally decides to quit. She doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life wanting something she can’t have. Problem is on the way out of the parking garage Jackson steps in front of her car and she hits him. When Jackson wakes up he has no idea who he is. His company is vulnerable to a take over and a CEO with amnesia could result in losing the company. Lori agrees to stay and help Jackson out til he regains his memory. Jackson is a completely different man than he was before the accident and suddenly he notices Lori. The new Jackson is a much nicer, more caring person.

This is a great romance read. I loved watching the relationship between Lori and Jackson change and grow. If you want a feel good romance this is the book for you. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Gah! I loved this book and devoured it in one day. Victoria Davies is a new author to me, so I didn't know what to expect - but I was hooked from the start.

Lori's billionaire ex-boss gets amnesia, and because Lori feels responsible (well, it was kind of her fault, lol), she stays with him to fill him in on everything and everyone to do with his business, in the hope that no-one discovers he's lost his memory. This is a crucial time for Jackson's company, and if it came out that he wasn't on top form, he could lose everything.

This is such a lovely read. If you're looking for a bit of romance in your life, look no further. Lori and Jackson provide it in spades.

A definite 5 stars!

Cute story but there were some inconsistencies that bothered me ( at the beginning) but overall a good read)

Davies weaves an excellent take on the typical admin/boss story. Lori finally submits her resignation and then subsequently runs down Jackson in her race to leave the building. The two are thrown back together by a head injury and their relationship becomes everything she always thought it could be, but they actually get to know each other and the relationship goes to another level. They also save the business while he gets back his memories and then, the expected HEA. This is book is worth your time!!!

Cute story. It played out a little like an episode of General Hospital. Lori is in love with her boss. She decides she can't work for him anymore, so she quits. On her way out, she runs him over with her can and he hits his head and gets amnesia. Jackson was a jerk before the accident and now he is even more the man Lori wants to be with. Having amnesia makes Jackson a new and improved version of his billionaire self. Will everything change back to the way it was once he gets his memory back?

Lori Carlow decides it's time to quit her job and move on, before she slips up and exposes her feelings towards her Boss, Jackson Sinclair.
After a meltdown in her car after quitting Lori didn't see Jackson and hits him with her car.
Their affection towards one another is beautiful, but with a cloud hovering over Lori's head, she fears allowing anything further to happen between them, that is until she just can't hide her feeling for him anymore and exposed her secret to Jackson. I'm being cryptic not to give anything away. This was a cute, sweet office romance.

This was a light, fun, easy book to read! It is an office romance story with an interesting twist on how to get the boss's attention. Both Jackson and Lori are strong well developed characters and they work well together. This is a low angst relaxing read that will leave you smiling. I would definitely recommend it.

Thanks to the publisher for an eARC copy to read and give my honest opinion.

This put a cute spin on falling in love with your boss. Lori has been Jackson's assistant for years until finally she realizes that he is never going to notice her and she quits. Upon leaving the building she accidentally hits him with her car and he has amnesia. At the same time his company is in the throes of a hostile stock takeover, and unless she helps his company could go under.
I thought the situation was fun and the author does a really good job of keeping you entertained. Jackson is such a cold person before the amnesia that his one eighty personality change was fun. I gave it four stars for entertainment! I would definitely read more by this author.

A lovely romantic story. It was very sweet and charming. I loved the way the author used inner monologue to give funny asides to what the characters were really thinking and not saying out loud. This is a page turner and a book I would read more than once.

A little unbelievable but really sweet all the same. The only issue I might have with this was how fast the resolution took place. Just felt a little bit rushed but all in all, really cute!!

These Harlequin'ish romances are like those candies that you can't stop eating when you first begins. Once in a while you just like to go on a binge and gorge yourself.

This is a romance that is delightfully low on angst. It might be a bit shallow in reality, but it's pretty charming nevertheless.

I have previously read “Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding” also by Victoria Davies, and REALLY liked it. It was the perfectly executed boss/assistant romance!
This one followed the same theme - an executive assistant who was desperately in love with her boss, but with the boss having amnesia.

Where to begin....
Well, I read this book in one sitting. Yep, I had other things I should have been doing, but I could not put it down.
So freaking good!
Lori and Jackson had chemistry from the beginning, but it took an accident with Jackson forgetting his memory for him to act on his feelings for her. (I do have one question though - why did he have pictures of other women in his phone if he wasn't interested in them besides for the obvious??? And how did Lori know this? Yes, she had access to his phone for work, but she shouldn't have noticed his pictures....) Anyways, I loved both characters and I really enjoyed how it was all wrapped up in the end.
This is my first book by this author - I look forward to reading previous books when I get some more book money. It does not appear to be part of a series (I would like to read Marc's story though).

Lori Carlow's days as being an executive assistant at Sinclair Enterprises are over, she is giving her notice, grabbing the last of her things and walking out the door, it's time to close this chapter on her life and create a new one. But when she tells her boss Jackson that she is ready to move on, and that there is nothing that will change her mind about staying he has a little trouble accepting it. He thinks they have a great thing going at the office and she is a vital part of making everything flow as it should, and he really doesn't want to lose that, but she can't go another day pining after him and him not even realizing that she has feelings for him. For years she has watched him whisk away starlets and models for a nights on the town, and every single time she has hoped that just for a second he would look at her like that, and take her out and wine her and dine her... but it's never going to happen!

So, she tells him one last time that her time at Sinclair is ending, and heads for the door, and once she is safely in her car she bargains with herself and agrees once she is in the confines of her apartment that she will let the tears flow, and finally let him go. But just as she starts to leave he darts out in front of her car, and she runs into him, and that one little bump creates a whole new host of issues for her that she is no where near prepared to handle. Now Mr. Sinclair is seeing her in a whole new light, and she isn't quite ready to break the truth to him and dim that light!

Giving Up the Boss is a charming little office romance tale that is sure to leave romance readers hearts rejoicing.. the story line is engaging, the characters are well crafted, and the happily ever after is quite promising! As soon as I read the synopsis for this one I knew it was right up my alley, and after reading it I am happy to report my instincts were spot on, these two took me on quite an enjoyable literary adventure, they made me smile, made me swoon, and they left my heart happy! If you like office romances heavy on heart, with some steam and humor sprinkled in here and there then I highly suggest you check this one out, you won't be disappointed with what you find!

I requested an advanced copy of this title, I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

This was a good quick read, the heroine was the typical secretary who has fallen in love with her boss who is oblivious to her. The accident and amnesia provided an interesting twist.

A sweet romantic story with a twist... or two.
Talk about starting off a relationship with a wallop! Executive Assistant Lori loves Jackson, the CEO where she works. But with a no-fraternizing policy, she can never let him know and decides to quit instead. Circumstances take a dramatic turn, and Lori is asked to save the day. Jackson, now with amnesia, not only becomes dependent on her but develops feelings for her. Lori struggles to keep her emotions in check but falls even more in love with Jackson. Will he still want her when, and if, he regains his memory? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
