4 Stars! I really liked this book!! The banter between the 2 main characters was funny & flirty! Not sure why Lori, the female main character, fell in love with Jackson, the male main character, before his amnesia. He seemed like a real jerk! After his head injury, he became super sweet & I was falling for him too! I enjoyed reading this book quite a bit!! I definitely recommend it! If you like books about a handsome but cold/jerky billionaire finally noticing his assistant after getting hit by her car, getting amnesia & becoming a whole new man....than this book is for you!!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I truly enjoyed this book. It is a cliche, but fun. I laughed, and felt for the characters No spoilers, but this is a cute read. Well worth it. I would like to think I would have stepped up like Lori did. Sometimes I wish my husband had amnesia and acted differently! Lol. I think that most romance readers will enjoy.
Giving Up The Boss has some mild cussing (no f-bombs) and it does have on-page sex. Use your own judgment if sex in a book will cause you to leave a bad review.
The premise for this story is utterly ridiculous, but the execution resulted in a surprisingly fun, easy read. I very much appreciated the way that, because of his amnesia, Jackson and Lori developed an actual relationship before falling in love, and the way that Lori took care of Jackson as his most vulnerable time. Jackson was also a great character, despite his previous less-than-stellar behavior. I loved the way that he met her where she was, not expecting her to be anyone other than herself, and the fact that he didn't let her run away from him, even when she wanted to. The end of this story was sweet and the perfect way to deal with everything that had happened.
If you are looking for a light, easy read about two very likable characters, you'll enjoy this story.
Lori never imagined that she will end the day she quits her job by running over her boss. Now with a takeover threat over the company and Jackson having amnesia she has no choice but to be his shadow once again, and help save his company.
Lori already had feelings for Jackson but now spending time with this new Jackson, she starts falling deeper. But what will happen once he gets his memories back ?
I enjoyed watching the relationship change between Lori and Jackson. Jackson’s pursuit of Lori was totally swoon worthy. This book was a fun read, sexy and with witty banter.
Good story with plenty of steam and romance that keeps you coming back to find out what happens between Lori and her boss
I really loved loved this book and the relationship between the H, Jackson and the h, Lori.
Lori works for the cold, unfeeling Jackson and is in love with him but he barely notices her so she gives in her resignation. As she leaves the office she runs over Jackson and the romance ensues. Read this book. I HIGHLY recommend it
You may have day dreamed about running your boss over with a car, but Lori was having an entirely different kind of day dream about Jackson Sinclair. Being a shadow to a man as brilliant and gorgeous as Jackson became too much for Lori, so she quit her job and then ran over Jackson in the parking lot. It was an accident, really! Fortunately he only suffered a broken wrist and some memory loss (ok, total amnesia!)
With the family business in danger of being ruined by a hostile take over, Jackson's brother, Davis , must travel to broker an alliance with another company in an effort to say the business. He convinces Lori to stay and help Jackson through the next week of board meetings and office politics. Feeling guilty, of course she agrees, but will she come out of the arrangement with her heart in one piece?
Victoria Davies has a wonderful way with witty dialogue and a quick and totally engrossing plot line.

A massive thank you to the publisher and the author through NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
To be frank this book sounds promising at first. Lori was an Executive Assistant ready to quit her job because of her personal interest and her undying love for her multibillionaire boss, Jackson Sinclair. But she got one problem, Jackson had never shown any interest in her whatsoever. He even set the no-dating-rule at the office to prevent any conflict of interest from happening.
Okay, so what happened next? Lori was stuck with one decision, now that she got a bad case of unrequited love. Professing her love was out of the question. Instead, she packed her things and ran him over… with a car… in a parking garage… by accident, of course. To make matter worse, Jackson Sinclair suffered a temporary Amnesia with no guarantee of recovery.
With the company in trouble without Jackson’s lead, she was the one who had to make sure everything ran along fine and keeping Jackson on check without anyone knowing what happened.
As I said before, it sounds promising. But, there were things that bothered me throughout this book, mostly concerning the hero, Jackson. The person he was before and after the accident was like a totally different person. I get it that he had an amnesia but still the difference is very prominent to notice that it sounded unbelievable.
And then, Lori? She was way too head-over-heels with this guy that she barely had any character development. I’m a fan of romance but it felt too rushed and overrated for their part. All the hero did is pursue the heroine without any consideration of what’s best. I don’t know, he seemed a little selfish sometimes. Honestly, it was like reading a POV of a pre-pubescent kid who had his first crush on someone. Although I would say there were some moments where I felt giddy about their romance, overall it didn’t work out that great for me.
It was a light read which is fun and almost always enjoyable, I had fun reading this book because it was just easy breezy. There wasn’t any angst or necessary drama, it was a clean plot. What I really wanted though was more comedy thrown because with a plot like that? It should have one or two moments of crazy banter or antics. I really wanted it to be funny that I was somehow disappointed. There were just too many self-blame, doing what’s right, denials, and not enough fun! I mean the characters should have fun, at least!
All in all, it was 3.5 stars for me. If you’re looking for a light read and a book to get past your reading slump when you just want to start slow. Giving Up The Boss by Victoria Davies is perfect for you. So, don’t forget to look out for the publication date if you want a grab!
4.5 Stars!
I had a blast reading this book. I loved Lori; she's so "normal" that she could be any one us. I really liked Jackson as well, but I'm not sure if I would have liked meeting the man he was before the amnesia. Luckily, we get the other guy in this book. This one has a really cute plot and is carried out to perfection. Every time I thought I had figured out what would happen next, I was wrong. The story is full of little twists that make it difficult to put down. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I'm so glad to have found her!
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for generously providing an ARC for review.
Giving Up the Boss begins just like the title suggests. Executive assistant Lori Carlow quits her job because she has crush on her boss, Jackson Sinclair, who won't even look her way. Starting over and forgetting all about Jackson is all Lori wants to do, until she hits Jackson with her car.
I felt for Lori. She knew Jackson couldn't remember what happened and what would happen when his memory came back and he realized he didn't give her the time of day. Could her heart really survive that?
I absolutely loved Lori. She is strong, she is smart and she is sassy. Jackson on the other hand, he took some getting used to. Sure, when he didn't have his memories he was sweet, caring and nothing like everything described pre-accident Jackson.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. It was fun, it was sexy and the two main characters had amazing chemistry. I loved reading how Lori and Jackson's characters grew over the course of the story. I couldn't put this story down!

Lori has been the executive assistant to Jackson for years, watching him, loving him, but he has never noticed her. She is part of the wallpaper. She finally decides to quit. She doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life wanting something she can’t have. Problem is on the way out of the parking garage Jackson steps in front of her car and she hits him. When Jackson wakes up he has no idea who he is. His company is vulnerable to a take over and a CEO with amnesia could result in losing the company. Lori agrees to stay and help Jackson out til he regains his memory. Jackson is a completely different man than he was before the accident and suddenly he notices Lori. The new Jackson is a much nicer, more caring person.
This is a great romance read. I loved watching the relationship between Lori and Jackson change and grow. If you want a feel good romance this is the book for you. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
We meet Lori and Jackson in Giving Up the Boss. Lori has been Jackson’s executive assistant for years, but she has harbored a secret. She is in love with him, mbut doesn’t think that he could ever feel the same, so she resigns her position. As she leaves work, for what she tBelieves to be the last time, she accidentally hits Jackson with her car. Most of Jackson’s injuries were minor, but he does suffer amnesia. Lori finds out from Jackson’s brother that the company is at risk in a takeover bid, so she agrees to stay on temporarily in order to help Jackson try to cover up his head injury. Needless to say, despite Lori’s attempts to fight it, she finally gives in to her feelings for Jackson. She believes all along that their relationship will end as soon as Jackson’s memory returns. However, they do get their HEA. Ms Davies has a way of drawing her readers in and making them connect with her characters, and this book was no different. Well done!
Jackson needs Lori, that's not anything new. She's always kept his life in order. But this new Jackson needs her in a whole new way. Amnesia is just a stumbling block with Lori at his side.
I was a little worried going into reading this book. Unrequited love, amnesia, and he runs a billion dollar corporation? It seemed too much for one book.
I was pleasantly surprised, though, at how it all comes together as the story progresses. Business is a focal point of the plot, it really was the personal relationships I liked the best. Getting to know the characters through the dual POV worked well here. Even with Jackson having amnesia, it was nice to see things from his perspective.
I hope we get to see more of Lori and Jackson in the future! Maybe with books for a couple ofthe featured supporting characters.
I really enjoyed this story but I felt like I have read this book before. That or the plot has been used before. It starts off with Lori who is in love with her boss, Jackson, who quits. Then she is so upset she runs him over. He ends up with amnesia and his brother asks her to move in and care for him while he tries to save his company.
The whole story just felt like I had read it before. It was a good story and was written, I just felt like I had read it before.
A slow burn, low heat romance between a billionaire CEO Jackson and his devoted personal assistant Lori. Lori just quit her job because she could no longer handle being invisible her boss, the man of her dreams. A accident will give them a second chance to find their way to each other. Lori is the kind of heroine you love to see get her well deserved happy ending. Be sure to read this delightful book, you will be glad you did.

Really enjoyable read.
At the start of the book, Lori just quit her job. She is in love with her boss, and can't stand to work so close to him anymore. As she leaves the building she accidently runs him over, putting him in hospital with amnesia - so he doesn't remember her quitting, but then he doesn't really remember her at all.
This new version of him is totally different, and while she stays on at work to help him till his memory returns, she realised she never loved him before, not like she does now she really knows him. But what will happen if his memory returns?
I read the author's previous book 'Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding' in one sitting overnight and had to request 'Giving Up The Boss' when I saw it on Netgalley in the hopes that lightning would strike twice - and indeed it did! I blame Victoria Davies for making me stay up two nights in a row to finish her books, but I can't complain, it was a wonderful way to spend a rainy gloomy weekend!
If you have read 'Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding', you may feel a slight sense of deja vu with this new release as it deals with a lot of the same themes - an executive assistant who is desperately in love with her cold remote boss and believing her feelings to be unrequited decides to quit her job. What I enjoyed was that 'Giving Up The Boss' is an equally engrossing look at the alternate path that the previous book could've taken - where Allison's main dilemma was trying to find the right time to tell her boss that she's leaving, Lori starts off this book by openly quitting and then being forced to stay to help Jackson with his memory loss. The dilemma now is whether it's ethical or not to start a relationship with someone who's lost their memory. I thought it was very clever of the author to take what could've been a mere regurgitation of her other book and turn it into something fresh and different, despite the near-identical premise.
I love that Lori has the self-awareness to realize that pining for her boss isn't healthy when it's stopping her from living her life and decides to act in her best interests by leaving the company so she can be free. The first scene in the book is so compelling and crackles with intensity as she stands up for herself and refuses to back down in the face of Jackson's demands. We need more heroines with independence and grit like this!
While I have a guilty fondness for boss/employee romances, what frustrates me a lot of the time is how easily the characters fall into bed with each other - it makes me wonder why NOW when they've worked together for so long. The author shows her work by carefully developing the characters and making it believable that they would wind up consummating their relationship. I respected Lori so much for deciding that she should resist Jackson's advances, even though she'd been in love with him for years, because she didn't want to take advantage of the situation - there's a heroine worth cheering for! And I was hooked on the intrigue over whether or not Jackson's memories would return and how it would affect his personality and their relationship. It made for great suspense!
The main issue I had that detracted from the storyline somewhat was Lori's excessive guilt for running Jackson over - it makes it sound as though she was definitely at fault, but from the description of events, he steps out in front of her car! Yes, she was going a bit too fast, but if someone deliberately blocks your car, I don't think it's fair to say the blame is entirely on the driver! It would be one thing if she was the only one that held herself accountable because that could be written off as an emotional reaction, but there's no suggestion that this is a subjective finding of guilt as other characters also back the idea that she's to blame.
She also never wonders why it is that Jackson was down in the parking garage in the first place - it's pretty obvious to the reader that he was pursuing her in dramatic fashion as it typical in rom-coms, but I suppose Lori couldn't be allowed to consider that as she was meant to despair over her unrequited passion for him. Also, Jackson probably could've picked a better way to act on his feelings - it's not like she was getting on a plane to leave the country, he didn't have to throw himself in the path of her vehicle!
In summary: This was a fantastic read, very easy to get into and difficult to put down as proven by my need to stay up til 2am finishing it! The hero and heroine are charismatic and endearing, I loved their interactions with each other and the delicious sexual tension between them. Highly recommended!
LOVED this book! We meet Lori as she's resigning from the executive assistant position for Jackson. Then she hits him with her car and he ends up with amnesia. Lori moves in to help him and begins to have an even more difficult time with her attraction to him. But, amnesiac Jackson is smitten with Lori, too, so before long they're acting on their attraction. However, Lori knows its temporary and only until Jackson's memories return. In the meantime, she'll enjoy the romance and help Jackson keep his injury as secret from his board of directors.
This is a well crafted tale that made me feel invested in the characters and hopeful for them to have a HEA. Fans of the genre will love this book. - it should come with a swoon alert warning. The author is on my must read authors' list and, if you're a fan of the genre, should probably be on yours as well.
