I always love the idea of a second chance romance but regularly struggle with the execution. The ones I typically read involve a couple that broke up in high school yet somehow are convinced they're still in love with each other despite not seeing each other for a decade which frankly never feels very healthy OR the cause of their split was so traumatic I have a hard time believing that they ever really could get past it. I was really pleased with the execution here. For starters Ella and Hank were both young adults and starting off they're lives when they got together AND what really caused the split was them just not being quite on the same page at the same time. As well, Ella truly believes she's moved on until she receives a message from Hank and Hank is just realizing that he messed up all those years ago with a little more life experience under his belt. The fact that this second chance really worked for me really made me enjoy this book.
I loved the side characters - Miss Thing, Roberta, Pammy, the Nonnas and everyone else floating around in Ella's life. As well I loved that Samantha Drake isn't a one note villain. At the very beginning that was fully where I expected her to go but I was so happy that she was such a more complex character. Even when I didn't trust her I really enjoyed her time on the page. Ella and Hank are a little flat though they're likable and sympathetic. I did really want them to just communicate with each other more. They both kind of relied on their previous knowledge of each other instead of talking for far too long. Though this did lead to a kind of sweet/funny scene involving hazelnut creamer that was pretty funny.
While this wasn't a romance that really pulled on my heartstrings and will make my all time favorites list I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the characters and really enjoyed the setting. This is the 3rd book in the series and I'm looking forward to going back and reading the other two so I can revisit life on Two Love Lane. Hopefully Miss Thing will be there in full Queen Elizabeth dress.
Hank and Ella both wanted to be serious actors when they met and fell in love. Unfortunately, when Hank was offered a major role on the West Coast and, Ella was offered a major role on the East Coast, she refused, believing that Hank was going to marry her and take her with him. Hank took the job but, not Ella. That was 10 years ago. Ella moved to Charleston and, opened a matchmaking business with her best friends. Her family also moved there. Suddenly, Hank is in ,Charleston, doing a major film with a major actress and, he wants to start things up with Ella again. She wants the same thing but, was burned so badly before that, she isn't sure she can endure the loss again.
This is the perfect summer beach read!
The characters in this book are not very interesting. I found the whole book to be pretty boring. The only reason that I finished it was because I received a free copy. I am voluntarily leaving this review
I didn’t realize this was part of an interconnected series when I picked it up. But I had no problems following along.
I liked the overall story. It was sweet and the pace had a very relaxed vibe to it. But I’m not so sure if certain side stories relating to secondary characters were really necessary. I also wish there was an epilogue or a few more chapters as I thought that ending it the way it did was just too abrupt. I would’ve wanted to find out how the movie did and how Ella’s part turned out.
The plot of Second Chance at Two Love Lane was simple. Ella is a matchmaker. She is also an actress who failed to make it big. She turned down the role of a lifetime because she thought her long-term boyfriend was going to propose. Not only did he not propose but he ended up becoming an A-list movie star. Ella is bitter over that. She also has never gotten over Hank. Imagine her surprise when she finds out that he is in Charleston filming and he is the cousin of her new friend, Pammy. Hank is able to get Ella a small part on his movie. Soon, they are reconnecting. Ella wants to keep Hank at arm's length. But it doesn't happen. Can she let go of the past to embrace the future? Or will she be left behind and heartbroken, again?
Ella got on my nerves. I know suddenly ending a relationship sucks, I have been there myself. But to hold onto it for 10 years. A little excessive, if you ask me. I know her heart was broken but still. I kept breaking out (in my head) "Let it go". I did like her, though. Her relationship with her mother, sisters, cousins, and nonnas was amazing. Not to mention her friends. She had a huge heart.
I didn't know what to think of Hank. He didn't like being a superstar. All he wanted was to be left alone....which wouldn't happen because he's famous. But as the book went on, I started to like him. He wanted to make things right with Ella. He didn't know how to make things right with her. Getting her that small part in his movie was part of that. I started liking him by that point. He wanted more from Ella but he wasn't going to push her into anything she didn't want. He knew that she was still dealing with her feelings from 10 years ago. By the end of the book, I was crushing on him hardcore. If I had any doubts about his feelings for Ella, they went away by the ending.
The chemistry and sex scenes with Hank and Ella were lukewarm. I couldn't get into those scenes as much as I wanted to. I didn't get a hint of chemistry between them which reflected in the sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, they were beautifully written. They didn't do it for me.
The secondary characters made this book. Mainly Miss Thing. When I first saw her name, I thought "Maybe its a typo". But no, it isn't. I loved her!!! I also liked Samantha and Pammy. Samantha made me laugh with her not so subtle ways of trying to get Hank and Ella together. That whole dinner that she set up cracked me up. I loved Pammy too. She was refreshingly real. From her telling Ella that she had a nice butt (which cracked me up) to her unlikely romance with the mayor of Charleston, she made me laugh.
I also liked Ella's family. They were large, loud and they love each other. It was the sub-storyline about Ella's mother that made me tear up. I wasn't expecting it. Neither was her mother or Ella.
The end of Second Chance at Two Love Lane was your typical romance novel ending. I did like what Hank did to Ella. Tied in perfectly with the book. The author did a great job of taking all the sub-storylines and tying them into the main storyline. I was not left wondering about anything. Which happens more often than I can count.
What I liked about Second Chance at Two Love Lane:
A) The secondary characters
B) Ella's family
C) The end of the book
What I disliked about Second Chance at Two Love Lane:
A) Ella. She got on my nerves up until she got the part in the movie
B) The chemistry and sex scenes were lukewarm
C) Hank. I was iffish about him most of the book.
I gave Second Chance at Two Love Lane a 4-star rating. This was a cute romance with relatable characters. While I did not like Ella or Hank at the beginning of the book, they did grow on me. My only major complaint is that the sex scenes were lukewarm. As was the chemistry between Hank and Ella. Other than that, I liked the book.
I gave Second Chance at Two Love Lane an Adult rating. There is sex. There is mild violence. There is language. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.
I would reread Second Chance at Two Love Lane. I would also recommend this book to family and friends.
I would like to thank St. Martin's Paperbacks and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Second Chance at Two Love Lane.

**I chose to leave this review after reading an advance reader copy**
Ella is full of southern charm. She is satisfied with her life now, even though she gave up her dreams years ago. Now she is thriving in her business with her friends and has her family all around her. When she gets a message from someone in her past her life will take a change in a different direction.
This was a fun book. I fits right in with the other books in the series.
** I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is the first time that I have read anything from this author. I truly enjoyed it. It had some very heart-breaking moments. I got teary eyed at several places. I loved the dual POV format. It helps me to understand the characters so much better. I wished that Hank's POV was reflected more. I loved him but I really didn't understand the why of his leaving and not trying to take Ella with him or getting back with her sooner. That would have made the story even more better.
There were sections that I read and re-read over and over. I highlighted and bookmarked many places. I did thoroughly enjoy this book. I loved the entire Mancini family and the drama there. I highly recommend this story to anyone. Even though it is the third and last in the series (maybe?), you don't have to read the prior stories. I will though as the characters sounded delightful. Highly recommend.
The last book in the Two Love Lane series from Kramer gives readers a sweet wrap up.
Ella is the last lady from Two Love Lane in need of a true love of her own. But, what if she already had hers? That’s what Ella believes. She experienced love at an early age, right after college. Then her boyfriend left her to pursue his career, while Ella went a different path. Without that breakup she wouldn’t be who she is now, wouldn’t have Two Love Lane. So, when that love from her past is suddenly back in her life it’s not a sign of potential, it’s a chance for her to prove she’s moved on.
This sweet heroine is probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, at least the nicest book character. She’s kind, considerate, cares about her clients, friends, and family, and is scared to put her heart back in the hands of the guy who broke it. I would be too. Add in a family scandal, a supporting role assignment in a big screen movie with an A list actress, and a client who’s cursed. This sounds like the beginnings of a wild tale… and it was.
Did I mention the ex has become a big-screen movie star? Yep, dear hero, Hank, is on his way to being named Sexiest Man Alive. But, recently he’s come to realize that all this money and fame he’s acquired really means nothing. He’s wandering aimlessly in a sea of accomplishment and wants more from life. So why not try to win the girl back? The one he’s always loved. Too bad everything is trying to keep them apart or—is it trying put them together?
Kramer gives a sweet story with lots of side-roads. There’s plenty of humor, heartwarming moments, and a good healthy reminder to never give up on love. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, though do believe readers will be more invested if they’ve read the other books in the Two Love Lane series.
My challenge with this story is that the conflict levels weren’t even on medium levels. I have been in a mood lately where I enjoy stories light on the angst. External conflict is not the main driver in this story, nor do the hero and heroine have a big-time villain/antagonist. Though, I would have liked a little more drive to keeping them apart, another hurdle. This is a personal opinion, of course.
Overall, if you’re looking for a feel-good read with second chance romance, with an extra smattering of love this might be the book for you.

A beautifully written book. The author made Charleston come to life. In the midst of this is Two Love Lane, a matchmaking service. Ella Mancini was destined to be an actor but life interrupted and she ran away. Brokenhearted, her friends decided to become matchmakers. She has found a place to call home. Her big beautiful family decided to leave New York and follow her to Charleston. Everyone is thriving. That is until she received flowers after a performance from the man who broke her heart. Hank Rogers has everything you can want in life except the one person who really understood him. Now he has taken a part in a movie that will bring them into the same world. He's looking to win her back. She is trying to come away unscathed.
I just finished Second Chance at Two Love Lane. It is not the first in the series. I didn’t know that before I started reading the book. It did not make any difference. The book tells the story of Ella Mancini who lives in Charleston, SC. She co-owns a business, Two Love Lane, which is a matchmaking business. She also loves to act in community theater.
Ella grew up in New York City. She adored her father and he had completely supported her dream to be an actress. Her father told her many times that she should not let any man get in the way of her dreams. Then she met Hank. They were both struggling actors and she made a mistake. She passed up a movie role to stay in New York with Hank. On her birthday, the night she thought that he would ask her to marry him, he broke up with her instead because he had received a role in a movie and was leaving town.
Ten years have passed and she and her family are settled in Charleston. She suddenly receives flowers from Hank and on the card, he asks her to call him. She doesn’t know what to do. The next day when she is visiting her Mother, Pammy arrives. Pammy is Hank’s cousin, who is new to Charleston. She doesn’t know anyone and wants Ella’s help in meeting people. Ella assumes that helping Pammy is the favor that Hank was looking for and she doesn’t call him back.
In the meantime, Hank is in New York with his family and he is feeling down. He finally starts to admit to himself that he misses Ella and that she is the only one who truly knows him. Then he is offered a role in a movie filming in Charleston. He has turned down the role before even though it is a good role because he doesn’t want to see Ella. When the role is offered again, his father urges him to go to Charleston and find out if the relationship is what he thinks it is.
It wouldn’t be very romantic if Hank didn’t take the role. Does the relationship work? Can Ella forgive Hank for dumping her? Would she even be willing to leave Charleston and her company?
This is a fine book if you need something light to read. Even the title gives the indication that it is a romance and it is light and fluffy. There are no huge surprises but it is pleasant.
This was my introduction to Kieran Kramer, having never read any previous books by the author. I was immediately drawn into the story and couldn’t put the book down. Other reviewers have gone over the plot and characters so I will just say, most will find very enjoyable and easy read. At times a laugh out loud reading.
Hank made a really poor choice during their prior relationship, and she didn't speak up for herself, or for them. All's well that ends well though, because when they get back together many years later because of another career opportunity, they are both better able to prioritize what really matters in life. Ella's career as a matchmaker and her boisterous family were my favorite parts of the story.
Wonderfully charming second chance romance with great characters and fun personalities! Story really brings you in. Ella and Hank are soul mates but know that each other's goals are important so they part but they draw back together. Great story, southern charm and great characters!
This is a new author to me so I was a little cautious when I received the opportunity to read this story thru NetGalley. I was so glad I did because it features one of my favorite cities, Charleston, as the backdrop of the story. This is also a second chance at love story, without a bunch of conflict and other stuff to muddy up the waters. Great story.
I loved this book and the connection that our main characters find after being apart ten years. The city of Charleston was a great location and the secondary characters help make this book memorable. I’ve enjoyed the other books in this series and this book lived up to its conclusion.
A delightful and charming second-chance romance that kept me glued to the book from beginning to end with unforgettable characters, lots of southern charm, laugh-out-loud dialogue, family drama and so much more. I really liked Ella Mancini who is a professional matchmaker at Two Love Lane in Charleston, South Carolina and her dynamic with Hank Rogers her former boyfriend and now a huge film star who is in Charleston filming a movie.
This is the first book I have read by Kieran Kramer and would be the perfect beach or poolside read. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest review.
I've wanted to try one of Kieran Kramer's books for some time. I had heard good things about a couple of her older books and my interest was piqued. When Second Chance at Two Love Lane came on my radar, I crossed my fingers (because it is the 3rd book in her Two Love Lane series) and dove in. Sadly, I didn't love it as much as I had hoped.
To be honest, I had a lot of mixed feelings with this book. One one hand, I adored Ella and Hank. I enjoyed their romance throughout the book. I also enjoyed the Hollywood element, especially Samantha. I'd love to see her again in a future book. And I thought the story-line with Roberta was adorable. With that said, there were two elements in the book that I gave me a little pause. First, it felt like there was a little too much going on. I'm not sure if it was too much inner dialog or some of the side plots that took away from the romance, but somewhere in there was a disconnect and I ended up speed-reading through portions of the book. That sort of leads into the second factor. I didn't feel a connection with some of the background characters, which I wonder if it is because I started the series with the 3rd book. Between the two, there were times when I felt lost.
Overall, there were parts that I enjoyed and some that I didn't. I did enjoy Kieran's writing style. I adored the romance between Ella and Hank. And I found some of the background characters charming. I also loved the Hollywood and matchmaking elements. Thinking back, it probably wasn't the best book to start with. I should have picked up the series from the beginning and worked my way through. Since I have the second book on my shelf, I'm tempted to pick up the first book and give it a whirl. I'm curious if I'd enjoy the series more by starting from the start.
If you're curious, I'm giving Second Chance at Two Love Lane 3 stars on Goodreads. I enjoyed it, but didn't love it.
A great second chance romance that pulls at the old heart strings well written and likeable characters make this a sure fire good read
I received a copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
Second Chance At Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer is book Three in the Two Love Lane Series. This is the story of Ella and Hank.
Ella and Hank once were sweethearts but he left and she stayed behind to become a matchmaker and her hobby is working in local theaters.
When a film comes to town to shoot, Ella signs up to be in it. But we learn that Hand too will be starting in it along with a famous actress. Samantha Drake is a famous actress who happens to find Hank attractive too.
This was a great book for a second chance at love. Really enjoyed it and one you won't stop reading until you are done.
When I read the blurb of this book I was intrigued as I am a huge fan of second chance romances. I liked the storyline and felt there was potential for a great story, but for me, this was just an ok read.
I’m not sure what it was, but I never really connected with the characters. I felt it jumped around a bit and just didn’t flow smoothly. I got annoyed with Ella more than I liked, and I just couldn’t connect with her. She almost felt childish and immature with how she held on to her ‘pain’ from their break-up ten years ago. They weren’t even together that long before they broke up. In all honesty, their previous relationship held no meaning or importance to me. It didn’t hold any emotion, it was mentioned, but I didn’t ‘feel’ it.
Hank was alright, but not one I would consider my ‘book boyfriend’. I did like how grew as a person. How he looked at what he was doing in life, what he wanted, and what he needed to do to make his life what he truly wanted.
