A cute little book about Halloween and the excitement of getting ready. Cute pictures and the text flows well. The kids will enjoy it, especially if they love Halloween.
This book was such a good book. I read it and enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend it to anyone.
This was a delightful book about Halloween! I thought the illustrations were adorable and loved the children's interactions with each other and their parents. I thought the Halloween snacks they made out of fruits were very clever - only to find out from the author's intro that she studied nutrition and dietetics! I definitely have to snag a copy for Gabby now!
Luke's a ghost and Lottie is a witch for Halloween. They are the cutest little things and they are ready to trick or treat.
Clavis and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and you can grab a copy now.
You can see them go from home to home gathering treats. Everyone is having a good time, just like Halloween should be.
The illustrations are colorful and full of whimsy.
This is great book to introduce your child to Halloween.
This is a calm, warm story about a family enjoying Halloween ( mom, dad and two twins, a boy and a girl). It's described the time they enjoy together. First in the preparations, with the decorating, the cooking, the sweets. And then when they go trick-or-treating.
The illustrations are joyful and colorful, even when the background is darker. A simple story to tell younger kids around these festive days. A cozy good-night read, where Halloween isn't scary at all but festive. A truly Happy Halloween.
I would recommend this book to parents who want to introduce Halloween traditions to their small children.
I received this book as an eARC from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Luke and Lottie. It's Halloween! by Ruth Wielockx is a delightful children's book for very young readers.
Luke and Lottie are getting ready for Halloween by getting the costumes, making yummy desserts and trick-or-treating.
Charming illustrations along with imaginative snack recipes are an added bonus. My kids can't wait for the end of October to try them out.
Well explained each segment of the holiday introduces it to the little readers and familiarizes them with what to expect.
One of the best books about Halloween that I have read. Adorable.
This is a simple, festive Halloween story. The illustrations are adorable. I like that the children enjoy Halloween in different ways, particularly the ghosts and pumpkins made from fruit. One thing I noticed was that all of the costumes were something creepy or scary. I like to see more fun, less scary costumes in children's books.
Luke and Lottie are twins going trick or treating for the first time. Luke will be a ghost and Lottie a witch. This is a great book to introduce the traditions of Halloween to little ones. From carving pumpkins, dressing up and making treats for the trick or treaters this book walks you through it. I really liked the fact that Dad and some of the other adults dressed up too. I recommend this book for 2-4 year olds or beginner readers. The illustrations are colorful and fun to look at and the book has a lot of the Halloween colors in it. I especially like the the little poem that one of the neighbors said. I may use it for Halloween this year. This book was originally published in Belguim and Holland.
Seasonal books incoming...
I love books about Halloween and Autumn and this was such a cute one. It is about siblings and their Halloween evening and the traditions shared with their family. They trick-or-treat, carve pumpkins, and help mom in the kitchen - all such fun things! I think parents and younglings will enjoy this one for the Halloween season so if you are looking for something to fill that gap - you should pick it up!
The images are big and bright and the whole book celebrates time with family and the fun that they have together - a great read.
This is a cute Halloween book. I love how the twins Luke and Lottie are so excited about the decorations and costumes. The illustrations are adorable. This is a great non-scary way to introduce Halloween customs to small children. This would be a great addition to an elementary school library or classroom or for parents of preschool-aged children.
I received a copy through NetGalley and opinions expressed are my own.
This is another is a small series of Luke and Lottie. Two kids who do things together because they are brother and sister. This time it’s trick or treating. One will be a witch and the other a ghost. And dad shall be going too. They meet up with other kids and walk house to house. The story is typical night at Halloween following kids. Nothing bad, but also nothing special.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Clavis Publishing for my unbiased opinion of the book. The book started out with Luke and Lottie getting ready for Halloween. Suddenly, the book abruptly ends? There was no real story or meaning behind the book. The graphics and colors were well done but again the story was lacking. https://plus.google.com/share?
This is a cute Hallowe’en story for young children. It is not scary at all. In simple text, Ruth Wielockx describes what the family goes through to decorate, get treats ready and decide on costumes. On the night they go out, Dad goes with them and he is also in a costume. The illustrations are cute with smiling children and non-scary costumes. For children new to this holiday, this would also be a great book to teach them about North American customs. This is a great book for a family library or a pre-school or kindergarten classroom. The publisher, Clavis Publishing, provided me with a copy of this book to read. The opinions stated are my own.
Very short and sweet little children's book about going trick or treating. What do I think about this book? Personally, I think it's spooktacular.
I read it with my little brother and it was cute little story about Halloween. He liked the story. I love the colors too.
Luke and Lottie: It's Halloween is a cute story about siblings getting ready on Halloween. They go through all of the fun parts of the holiday - getting dressed up, making jack-o-lanterns, seeing silly but scary decorations, and making Halloween-themed food.. It ends with them, of course, going trick-or-treating. It's a cute story which can explain to younger kids what Halloween is all about.
I'd recommend this book for kids ages 2-4. The pictures are very cute - not at all scary.
This is the first book that I agree with the age range that is assigned for it.
The artwork is adorable and simple, good for the age range. Since I read this through Amazon I cannot say 100% how the font/size is for the writing in a more kid-book-look so you'll have to view that on your own.
If you teach in a school that allows Halloween themed books for the lower grades... this would fit in nicely. But if not, this works for at home / carry around during the holidays.
Downloaded through Netgalley thanks to Clavis Publishing..in exchange for an honest review. If you read children books / review them they have a good start to look at.

It is a bit early for Halloween (not that it is really celebrated here), but I just couldn't resist this one any longer. Not only because it is super hot here and I am melting, so I could use a book about spooks and ghouls and fall, but also because I just adore Ruth Wielockx' books.
This one was just so adorable, we follow Luke and Lottie as they celebrate Halloween. We see them mentioning their outfits way before the trick or treating (Witch and Ghost), but before they can actually wear them there is still enough to do this day. Yep. Halloween isn't just about trick or treating as Luke and Lottie will show us.
A home cannot be Halloween ready if there are no decorations, but let's also not forget the delicious treats (I did like that the treats were healthy (but I do wonder how long the banana ghosts will stay that way or give up the ghost :P), though I would have loved see some unhealthy treats as well), pumpkins and carving them (which I tried last year for the first time and was a messy but fun activity), I had so much fun seeing Luke and Lottie's family go all out for Halloween.
Definitely adored that the dad also participated with dressing up. Quite often in books/movies/series I see parents just stroll around with the kids while wearing their normal outfit, but not this dad. He is dressing up as well and does quite a good job at it.
Luke and Lottie are dressed up as a ghost and witch. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with Luke's outfit. That is a ghost? Um? Sure? At least Lottie's outfit looked like a witch. Though it is a cute witch, and not a creepy one. :P
The trip through the neighbourhood was creepy fun. I love that everyone is doing such an effort for Halloween. *thumbs up*
All in all, a fabulous fun Halloween picture book that I would recommend to all. Maybe I will re-read this one during Halloween (though it will probably be next year as I will still remember this book this October).
My soon to be first grader said she would give a 100 rating for this book.
At first, when she looked at the cover, she was excited about reading this as she likes Halloween. She then asked where are the baskets when she saw that Luke and Lottie are going trick-or-treating. But we did find that the 'vampire dad' was holding the bag for the witch and the ghost.
A lot of attention was paid to detail. The tree in the background with fall colors. What a great idea of turning clementines into little pumpkins, banana ghosts. Creative!! Engaging for adults too with such alluring illustrations.
Her favorite part is when they went to trick-or-treating, they got treats and went home. And they had lots of fun too. The End.
My favorite part is a witch mixing some magic potion to welcome the trick or treaters. You can spend a lot of time scanning though the little details of the witch houses. it all came together very well. I alos like the groundedness of the story that one parent has to stay back to give out treats, which is what happens usually.
The book is colorful. My child likes the illustration. Due to its length, I wouldn't read it to a 2 to 5-year-old. On the kindle version some pages were longer than others. I didn't like that the costumes weren't diverse. All of the costumes were monsters.
