You've probably seen Gemma Correll's adorable cartoons, even if you don't recognize her name. In this slim volume, she gives instructions for how to draw various breeds of dogs--with or without clothing. Not adding to our library collection, but would be very cute as a gift.
A fun and easy-to-follow guide to drawing dogs - from glamorous greyhounds to beautiful bichon frise! Perfect for children and adults alike.
I'm a sucker for Gemma Correll, so when this title appeared on Netgalley, I couldn't resist checking it out. It's a very cute book combining some of Correll's cartoons and drawings with pages that allow the reader to doodle their own little dogs -- my only complaint was that it's pretty darn near-identical to Doodled Cats. Cartoonists gotta make a living somehow, though, and I can respect that.
I was unable to read this book. :( Please in the future let us know on the book's page before requested whether or not the book can be read on a Kindle.
One thing I love about dogs is their variety of appearances and personalities. Gemma Correll does a great job capturing the variety of dog types and expressions, and teaching people how to recreate their pets. It’s fun to doodle ordinary and extraordinary dogs, dogs with costumes, dogs with hats. The prompts and the techniques allow just about anyone to create adorable doodles of dogs. Doodled Dogs makes a perfect gift for dog lovers of all ages. It’s a fun book plain and simple.

I received an ARC of this from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Doodling helps me to stay awake during those really boring conference calls and irrelevant meetings that I always seems to get dragged into. I've mostly just doddled cubes or flowers, mainly because that's the only thing that I can draw that even resembles what it's supposed to.
This book has given me a whole new purpose to doodle. I can now draw the cutest dogs ever!
Humourous bylines, fun facts, and drawings broken down so that even a small child could master it, this book was such a fun read. The costume portion made me laugh, but why not dress your pet drawing up to the nines.
I should have requested the cat one as well.
This book was awesome and I'd recommend for avid doodlers.
Doodled Cats/ Doodled Dogs by Gemma Correll are interactive art books that encourage the reader to draw in them. Each is divided into four parts. Part 1 is all about the animal in question, including humourous factoids, signs you are a cat/dog person, and types of cats/dogs. Part 2 teaches how do doodle specific breeds. Part 3 is about doodling anthropomorphic animals and animals with clothes or costumes. The fourth and final section gives templates and prompts for getting creative.
Overall, I enjoyed these books. My cubs enjoyed them moreso. I wasn't a particularly huge fan of this art style. It isn't bad, just not my cuppa. My cubs adored them though! I wish there had been more step-by-step selections. Nicky and a few of the others have great free-hand and can use the completed picture to go by. I liked the cat one most, being the cat person that I am. I loved the sleeping cat, and the cats in boxes.
***Many thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I've loved everything I've been able to get my hands on from this author, and this was no different. I'm a huge dog lover, and this one was a delight! I'm planning to buy a copy or two as gifts this holiday season!
Thank you, NetGalley for the preview of this Digital ARC.
This book was so cute! I really hope that I would be able to doodle like Gemma Correll one day. A perfect book for all dog-lovers.
So cute! Thanks for letting me check this out, I loved it! I don't think I will ever be able to doodle as well as Gemma, but I loved seeing all the cute illustrations!
THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING!!!!!
I have always been a fan of Gemma Carrell, but now I am obsessed! I have never had so much fun with an interactive/how-to book before! I love everything about it! I love that there is a selection of different dog breeds to doodle, although the pug is my personal favourite. I simply can't say enough fun things about it! GO out and buy it now please..... and get the Doodled Cats while you're at it!
I have received a much appreciated digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Gemma Correll's Doodled Dogs is as adorable as her Doodled Cats book, with the added fact that this one is about dogs!! She goes beyond just showing you how to draw dogs, but she provides fun dog facts, fun dog pictures and fun dog and cat comics! In a word, her book is fun. (You probably caught that fact already...) The directions for drawing dogs (of a variety of breeds) are easy to follow and although I am an adult, I am adult without a major knack for drawing, so I think I am a good test subject. She has pages to fill in, to draw designs on pre-drawn dogs, and to fill in information about your favorite dog. This is a great book to give to your child, and the borrow at night so you can practice your dog drawings!
I just love this book! I can’t wait to buy the paper edition! It’s fun, good instructions, and the author may actually like dogs more than me. I didn’t know that was possible!
Doodled Dogs by Gemma Correll
Seeing a book on cats and another on dogs and how to doodle them seemed fun to me when I was looking for something to read and review. So, I requested both books. I have been known to doodle from time to time ;) As with the cat doodling book the drawings are more cartoon and fun than realistic but give creative ideas for embellishing, anthropomorphizing and even patterning felines. I might even try the idea of how to create a mug of my own with a cat doodled on it.
I can see this for children or for adults but it would not be for someone wanting to draw realistic felines. There is also scientific information about facts that I found rather interesting.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

A brilliant mix of cute canines broken down into easy to follow steps. A great addition for any drawing library.
This book is adorable! Super easy guide on doodling doggos in your own unique style. Would be great for young kids who are learning to draw or even for adults who want to improve their doodling subject repertoire. Highly recommend for dog lovers.
This is a nice book for those who want ideas and beginner's knowledge for doodling dogs. I enjoyed the variety of examples and prompts which helped it feel fun without being repetitive. Both the cat and dog books were really cute and are great for a wide audience.
Do you love dogs? Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw a dog? Have you ever wanted to draw a drunk dog?
Then, boy, do I have a book for you!
I'm a terrible drawer. But I love a good doodle. And while I have a regulation dog doodle that I draw all the time, this book gave me so many adorable doodles to copy and play with. So fun, so clever.
Thank you to Netgalley, Quarto Publishing Group, and Gemma Correll for providing an electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Because I love Gemma Corell, I was thrilled to read a copy of this book. Corell's drawings are so unique, it's a gift that she offers instructions on copying her style!
Doodled Dogs includes four sections: 1) All About Dogs, which includes a ton of Correll's illustrations of dogs of various breeds as well as a few activity pages and some funny sections such as "20 Signs You're a Dog Person" and "What's in a Name," 2) Doodled Dogs Step by Step, 3) It's a Dog's World, which demonstrates ways to enhance dog doodles, and 4) Dog Doodle Templates.
The step-by-step instructions are incredibly clear and I had so much fun drawing the different dogs. The dog doodle templates section provides "plain" drawings to decorate with zentangle-like doodles, hats, accessories, and clothing. One section also includes some hilarious Correll classics that pair cats and dogs. Finally, the book includes a bonus project--instructions on how to make a coffee mug with a dog doodle.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes Gemma Corell or who loves dogs and wants to learn how to create cute drawings.
I am a fan of Correll's doodling books, but this one seems to be made up of a lot of fillers. Nevertheless, it is a cute book that will teach amateur doodlers to draw a wide variety of breeds.
