I started this series in the middle so I can't say how the first four books were. I have very much enjoyed the past three books and they do indeed get better with each one. I am also a fan of how it intermingles with the Dark Kings series.

ark Alpha's Hunger is the sixth book in the Reapers series by Donna Grant. While some may prefer to read it as a stand alone, I would recommend reading the full series in order for maximum enjoyment. There is a lot happening in each of these stories that connect the series together, but they also connect to the Dragon Kings series.

I enjoyed reading about Eoghan, a Reaper who had been lost, and Thea, a halfling who knew nothing about her background. They both had an intriguing backstory and we also learn a big secret about Thea. No spoilers, promise. I look forward to reading the next book as soon as possible. These are addictive.

I read a digital galley obtained from St. Martin's and NetGalley.

A Reaper lost is found, and another love finds a Reaper. The battle with evil continues. As usual, a story full of magic, action, fated love and romance...a formula to keep you reading until the end. The Reaper series is a shorter length series compared to others, but doesn't lack much in detail. There is a slight cliffhanger for the story that will continue, but is enjoyable as-is. Highly recommend reading the other ones in the series, at least the Reaper series.

When I signed up for an arc of this book I didn't realize this was the 6th book in the series. I have never had the pleasure of reading a book by Donna Grant but I will say that I'm already hooked. Even though I haven't read anything from the series I was able to follow along. With that said, I went online and ordered the first two books from the Reaper series to get started on what I feel is a very interesting read. I understand this is also a spin off from a previous series in which I plan on back tracking on as soon as I get caught up here first.

In a world of good and dark in the Fae world there are forces with stronger magic than even the leaders. Death has her warriors, if that is what you would call them. Maybe carriers of justice is more appropriate. There are even rules for the reapers.

In this book, Eoghan is pulled from what can only be described as hell by Thea. Thea is an orphan who knows nothing of her parents but music is her gift. A gift that calls to Eoghan and saves him. From here we follow Eoghan and his fellow reapers in trying to save death from death itself. Yeah, sounds confusing the way I'm describing it but let me say that it was fantastic. The descriptive writing process of bringing a world to life can not be an easy one but the authors does it so fluently that my imagination is right there visualizing it. The characters have a quality about them that it's impossible not to feel a pull to like them. Well, most of them :)

From start to finish of this book, I was drawn in with the story and the characters. I look forward to starting from the beginning meeting each character and discovering who they are and what formed them. The intensity of what to come is overwhelming. I can't wait to discover Rhi or the dragon king. Not to mention what the author has in mind for death. Will she get what the reapers have been finding? I really hope so. Now, when does the next book come out? LOL!

Thea is an orphan who wss lost until she discovered the violin at a young age. It became her escapes; her way of dealing with life and people. And then came the day it lead her to help save a man (being?) from a dark place. She didn't know who he was.....but secretly wanted to. Eoghan it's the Fae she saved from the darkness. He wants her but didn't think he can have her. He's a Reaper who Death (Erith) has tasked with creating a new (and secret) team to help in the war against Bran. But before they can really go on any missions, Eoghan discovers that Thea has been kidnapped...and he'll do anything and everything to get her back. Can his team work together to freed Thea? And who kidnapped her and for what reason?
I'm leaving out so much...you just need to read it for yourself.

Wow! I started reading this book and could not stop until I was finished. It held my attention the entire time and I just had to know what would happen next.
I missed reading a few of the Reaper books but I didn't feel lost on who the characters were.

I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher, St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.

the music to save a soul. Her music lead him towards the light. Saving him from the monsters in the dark. But also endangering her own life. This book is what romance is supposed to be. Love these reapers

Over the last couple of years I've reviewed a lot of Donna Grant's work.  I'm always surprised by how she keeps all of her characters straight gives each book a unique story line, but somehow manages to tie a bunch of other series in.  It boggles my mind.  This book is no different in that department.  If you've read any of the Dark Kings, Reapers or  Dark Warriors series then you will find this book awesome.  It is a continuation of these series but based in the Reapers circle of fae.  All of the other stories get a little bit of the plot in this one.

Thea and Eoghan are meant for each other right from the start.  It just takes Eoghan a few minutes to figure it out and open himself to the love that is waiting for him.   Their challenge is actually Thea's xxx (oops almost gave a spoiler).  The newest team of Reapers begins their journey as a team in this one and prove their loyalty to their leader Eoghan while Death finds the courage to fight once more against Bran.  We don't see much of the Dragon Kings in this one, but more of the characters associated with them are described and their alliances are developed more.

If you are new to Donna Grant, I would recommend to read a few of her other novels in this series prior to this one, maybe a first in the series, and maybe 4 or 5 of the Reapers before this one.  It will help everything make sense.  I've read several of the Dark Kings series and this helped fill in a lot of holes for me.  I'm giving this 4.5 because it has a little cliff hanger for the story line, not Thea and Eoghan's romance, and you all know how I hate them.  So if you're new, you might want a sprinkle of catch up before this one, if you are a well read Donna Grant fan, you'll find this one delectable as all of hers usually are.

4.5 stars--DARK ALPHA’S HUNGER is the sixth instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult REAPERS paranormal/fantasy romance series. The REAPERS is a spin off from Donna’s DARK KINGS series which is a spinoff from Donna’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. You do not have to have read any of the previous series to understand the premise but many of the events overlap with the events of the Dark Kings. This is Reaper Eoghan, and half-fae, musician Thea Keegan’s story line. DARK ALPHA’S HUNGER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Reapers (believed to be a folk lore amongst the Fae) are a group of Dark and Light Fae, selected by Death (aka Erith), on their own deathbed, to do her bidding-Death is the judge and jury; the Reapers are the executioners. The Reapers are not harbingers of death, but are tasked with destroying the Light and Dark Fae who have crossed a line from which there is no return. All Reapers must follow two rules: never to fall in love; and never to reveal their existence to anyone. If you have read Donna’s DARK KINGS series you will recognize the familiarity between the two series as both follow a similar plot and premise including betrayal by one of their own. Bran is a former Reaper who fell in love but Death ended their relationship by destroying his heart and the woman he loved, sentencing Bran to Netherworld for millions of years. Upon his escape, Bran sets about to destroy the Reapers, and seeks revenge against the woman known as Death.

Told from several third person points of view including Eoghan and Thea, DARK ALPHA’S HUNGER follows the forbidden relationship between Reaper Eoghan, and half-fae, musician Thea Keegan. Eoghan has been missing; sent through a portal into the unknown until a music melody calls to him from beyond the mist. Enter Thea Keegan, a young woman unaware of her half-Fae heritage but a woman whose control over melody and music calls to our hero’s heart. With his return to the land of his ancestors, Eoghan will be drawn to our story line heroine, a heroine whose attraction to Eoghan is immediate and swift. Eoghan will be assigned, by Death, as the leader of a new band of Reapers, Reapers who will soon find themselves searching for the woman with whom Eoghan will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Eoghan and Thea, and the potential fall-out as Thea is kidnapped, not once but twice by two very powerful Fae.

DARK ALPHA’S HUNGER is a revealing story line that introduces several new characters into the author’s numerous interconnected and cross-over series focusing on the Dragon Kings, the Reapers, and the war with the Fae. The introduction of Thea and a second group of Reapers shifts the focus of the series in another direction foreshadowing a much deeper connection by everyone concerned. Although the Dragon Kings are noticeably absent, more is revealed about the past and Queen Usaeil’s role in the destruction of relationships, family and love. Death is slowly succumbing to the loss of her magic and power, a loss that threatens the Reapers, and the position they hold.

DARK ALPHA’S HUNGER is a story of music and magic; family and betrayal; second chances, and falling in love. The premise is intriguing and thought provoking; the romance is spirited and fated; the characters are complex and consuming. Donna Grant’s REAPERS and the many interconnected series is a flight into the fantastic that pulls that reader into a passionate world of the paranormal.

I am a huge fan of Donna Grant and as soon as I know she has a new book coming out I just have to have it and I can't help but read the books as soon as I get my hands on them.

This is book 6 in the Reaper series and if you are new to this series I do suggest that you start from the very first book because there is a bit of a recap in this book but it would still be better to start from the beginning.

Dark Alpha's Hunger is a fast read that got me reading it in one sitting. It is so very well written and this story got me hooked from the very beginning.

If you are looking for a good paranormal/fantasy romance book or book series that will hook up right away, I highly recommend this book and series.

I give this 5 out of 5.

This was another great addition to the Reaper series. Eoghan and Thea were great together and I loved how DG wrote the magic and pull of music into their love story. Length wise, this did feel really short compared to the past books but the MCs got plenty of page time to bond and their chemistry was hot. Because of the on-going plot that connects all the Reapers together, this does end with a cliffy but I enjoyed this little side excursion so much, I didn't even miss Bran and his evil doings at all :)

I'm super intrigued by Death and Cael, that is an angst filled love story if I ever heard one! And of course I can't leave out the second stringers that made an appearance. This series is still going strong and can't wait to see what and who is up next.

Would I recommend? Yes. Fantasy lovers will get a kick out of these gruff protectors and awesome ladies they fall hard for.

This is book 6 in the Reapers series. You can read this as a stand-alone book like I did but it might make a little more sense if you read them in order. This story starts with Thea playing her violin at the ancient stones in Ireland. They start to glow and something starts to come through. She reaches out and grabs a hand. Okay, people. This is beginning to sound like a horror story, doesn’t it? Her life changes in this moment and in a good way so no horror story happening here. The reaper Eoghan appears but she’s not staying here to find out his life story. This was a really good story and so interesting. The background of Thea’s life was fascinating to learn. There’re all kinds of things going on here that keep you interested in the book. You have intrigue, romance and mysteries to solve. I’m going to go back and read the first books in this series now.

So happy to be back with the Reapers again. So much is going on in this world between the Reapers and Dragon Kings. This is not a book you can read by itself. As the description doesn't say who of the Reapers this book is about I am not going to spoil it in my review. I was happy with this book. A lot does happen and there are surprises. War is coming between Death and Bran and I look forward to seeing how Donna does that book. If you have read any of the other Reapers books you will enjoy this one and be happy too.

I read this book the day that it arrived on my Kindle!

I am a massive fan of this authors books and devour them as soon as they are released. I loved the plot in this one and the characters were brilliant as I have come to expect. I love the writing style, flow and pace and I think they are excellent stories.

This one had a few extras in the plot so it was slightly different from previous books and I think it is probably the best released so far in the series, no real surprises in this one and anyone who does read this story will already know that there is a pattern in the books in relation to how they end.

I love the characters in the Reaper series and I think it is not a tough choice for me as to whether it is the Reapers of the Drago Kings from the author's other well known series that is my favourite - but sadly for the Reapers I do think the Dark Kings win!

That said it is still five stars from me, I thought it was highly entertaining, one of my favourite series by one of my favourite authors! Cannot wait to read the next release!!

This is the second book I’ve read in this universe, but the first in this Reaper series. This was actually the perfect place to start this ongoing series. Eoghan has literally been out of this world for at least three decades and Thea knows nothing of the Fae. So learning and catching up were necessary for the characters, but it didn’t feel heavy handed. I liked both leads. Eoghan wasn’t too brooding and Thea wasn’t overly helpless. The instalove was a bit much, they knew each other for about a week before their declarations, but that is to be expected in this genre. The only thing that really bothered me was the choice of villain. The cat is out of the bag, too many people know the Light Queen is evil. The fact that no one went after her in this book baffled me. Maybe her demise is supposed to occur in the Dragon King books, and if that is the case she shouldn’t have been so heavily featured in this story. Also the main bad guy the Reaper’s are after was only talked about but never appeared.

I like this world and I like the new characters introduced so even though there are some flaws I will continue with this series.

Donna Grant is clearly talented and this one had so much potential, but it still fell flat for me. The story felt rushed and I never quite felt a connection with the characters. To be fair, I haven't read the whole series, so I did feel like I was missing some things that are mentioned in this one. On the flip-side of that, the blurb does mention that this is part of that series, and maybe it's just me, but I didn't see anywhere that mentioned a continuing story. A small disclaimer in the blurb to warn readers of the necessity to read earlier books would go a long way toward avoiding reviews like this one. That said, I did manage to follow the story well enough, but I feel like I would've gotten more out of it with more world building and depth. Based on my lack of connection to the story or characters in this sixth book in the series, I am undecided on whether or not I'll check out the earlier books.

I loved the Dragon Kings series and the Reapers are equally engaging, alpha, sexy, fierce and loyal! These stories build upon each other and cross over characters, so read in order. It's like a sitcom of hunky Fae, dark and light, Death (is a person) and fantasy is at it best in this series. Amazing world building and story telling! The good guys are amazing and the bad really bad! I can't wait for Usaeil and Bran to get just what they deserve! And Rhi and Constantine (Dragon king) to finally be together and learn all of Usaeil's trickery and deceit allowing them to be heartbroken and apart for years!! But I digress, buy these books start in order and fall in love with these characters! Game of thrones and Hobbit fans will love these books!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

Once again we're in the world of the Reaper's.  These g uys are fascinating. Their job's to be the Grim Reaper for the Fae.  Human's can't see them neither can the Fae.  So we have Thea - a violinist with amazing talent, and Eoghan a Reaper.

Thea's music is what saves Eoghan from the pits of Hell but not only that - she's also getting under his skin. Something he'd vowed he'd never do again!

Oh these two.  Well lots of information is uncovered in this book.  There's still a whole lot to come in the Reaper world.  I just love the visits from Death.  Erith (Death) has some hard decisions to make for herself and her Reapers. There's things she can see in the future it's whether or not she wants to change those truths or not.

Eoghan and Thea have a little bit of help in changing those truths. It's all about to come to a head though.  Wow. If you like to read stories about the Fae and some hot love stories entwined.  This series is one you should start reading if you haven't already.

*4.5 stars*
Reaper, Eoghan, is trapped in what seems to be another dimension, being chased by a demon. What could save him is the music being played by Thea, a half-fae, extremely gifted with the violin. There is a rock formation that calls to her. She doesn’t know how or why, but when she was finally able to travel there on her own, she made the most of it. She just had no idea what was waiting for her on the other side. Can Eoghan come into the right dimension to help prevent a war, or will he stay trapped in his own version of hell instead?

In typical “me” fashion, I read this series out of order. I did not realize this was a series when I requested the book. I won’t say this could be read as a standalone, but there is enough backstory on other characters which allowed me to follow along with ease. Both Eoghan and Thea have such heartwrenching pasts, and it makes you root for them. Donna Grant has a way of taking a novella and making it feel like a full-length novel. She gives so much information without you feeling overwhelmed. She also made me feel so intrigued by other characters, and I can’t wait to go back and read about them!
