Well...I finished that in one sitting over about a 3-4 hour span. It was a very cute, fun story about an 18-year-old American girl trying to discover the Paris that her parents experienced on their honeymoon 25 years prior. There are some unexpected issues with her strict itinerary that she has to cope with. It was a fun read, but then again I’m a sucker for anything involving European travel!
What's not to love about Paris, right?! And Ms. Rider gives us some fun scenes where we get to see bits and pieces of this magical city. But, why with two young people who seem determined to do nothing but argue and yell at one another? Sadly, it's an example of how some people think this is a normal relationship rather than one of sharing and laughter and joy. The scenes where they are discovering one another and what they like about one another get high marks - there just aren't enough of them.
I got so excited to read another Paris setting book because France is one of my favorite and dream place. I thought it would be an another great Paris adventure.
Let’s start with what I like because it won’t be long.
At first, I like how Serena was awkwardly funny at first. Her thoughts made me chuckle in some scene. I also likes her because of the effort she did just to make her mom happy after her dad died so she and her sister got into a Paris Romance trip where their parent went on their honeymoon but things go down the drain so as my experience with this book. (but let’s talk about that later)
I’m surprised that it was a dual POV, it was Serena’s POV and a beautiful half French- half American Jean Luc who loves photography. I am weak when it comes French fictional guys (don’t worry Ettiené St. Clair you will always be my French fictional boyfriend). I enjoyed both of their thoughts and they have different insights while visiting different Parisian destinations.
So this is why it went down the drain.
Why would you make Paris so foggy? I’m disappointed that was the setting. Foggy Paris. I really want to see Paris during Christmas but you take that away from with the fog.
I can’t understand how Serena’s sister ditched for her boyfriend. I know you love him but leaving your sister in an unknown place to make your mother’s Christmas memorable again and you’ll have a recognition from her hard work. I just can’t.
Serena started to get on my nerves, I know she’s on a schedule but how can you be so rude with beautiful artworks and ignore them. She became so annoyed that I became so annoyed with her. With Jean Luc coming with her and pestering her, he just want you to enjoy.
Another was I hope the author gave Ethan more scenes. He is an interesting character and deserve a character development not just appearing out of somewhere and that’s all I and he got.
Last one was everybody gets so annoying. Jean Luc being such an ass when Serena tried to talk about his relationship and he doesn’t have anything to do with but he’s the one who put her there in the first place.
Overall, it was predictable it became so boring, A lot of undeveloped plot and characters. A typical getaway trip novel.
This book helped entertain me during a long rainy afternoon. Super fluffy and sweet.
It isn't just about falling in love, but about overcoming tragedy and learning about who really are and what you want out of life.
Rating: 2,5 stars
Kiss Me in Paris is a sweet and light read about - who could've guessed - two teens in Paris falling in love. Super cliché, but fun! It's mainly about Serena. She's going to Paris where her sister au pairs so she can retrace her parents' steps from their honeymoon. Kind of in honour for her dad. But nothing goes as she had mapped out. First, her sister flakes out. Then, she's stuck with some French guy..
This novel's written in a dual pov, so we also get to know the love-interest better. Jean-Luc's a photography student. Crazy talented, but momentarily stuck in his newest project. Then, this American girl comes crashing into his life and makes him rethink about everything.
It's all super fun and cute, but nothing swoon-worthy or mindblowing. If you're looking for a feel-good read, then this is definitely a good contestant. It wouldn't be my first choice, but I did enjoy reading it though
Serena goes to Paris in order to celebrate her parents' wedding anniversary, she hopes to remember her dad again. It's been 2 years since he died in a car accident. Mourning her loss and and also trying to feel closer to her dad. Serena has a perfect plan to visit all the places her parents saw on their honeymoon in just one day. But she doesn't have much luck with the travel she has prepared so carefully. Everything seems to go wrong and she can't keep up with the schedule but eventually she gets her own Paris and her own special memories and who knows... maybe even her own love. It's a well-written book, I've read it at one go. The plot maybe not so fresh since there are so many books about following somebody's footsteps or going to Paris, but still it's a very enjoyable reading material. Four stars from me.
This was a fun read, but unfortunately, it did not hit the spot for me.
I didn't truly know the characters as much as I wanted to. I understood both were on a mission to find happiness after grief. Maybe it was the whole meet-cute thing that turned me off. I kept finding things that turned me off and that isn't fair to the author so I tried my best.
It was a quick read and perfect for those looking for something fluffy and romantic and can get past the absurdity of some of the situations.
Okay, so I'm a huge sucker for romance and I wanted to enjoy this book. But I didn't, and I'm a bit sad.
I almost DNF-ed it about 30% in because I found the characters to be ridiculous. Jean-Luc especially. I just...didn't connect with Serena to begin with and I found Jean-Luc to be boring. They both felt younger than they were meant to be, their actions and the way they spoke too juvenile for my liking. They were all over the place and they had no idea what they wanted, which frustrated me often.
Their romance was pretty unrealistic - too insta-lovey for me. I've read a few books before where things happened in the span of just a day, but this romance felt unbelievable. Perhaps it's just because I didn't enjoy the characters at all, which made the story harder to absorb.
I did, however, enjoy some of the writing as it was descriptive and interesting.
But it didn't hook me to begin with and I found myself avoiding it completely, but I read on to see if it got better. Unfortunately, it didn't and I'm disappointed.
This book was the perfect length to binge in a day. It was a little reminiscent of Anna and the French Kiss which I loved. This was a unique Paris story and I loved that it had dual points of view. I also loved that it had an epilogue which really helped wrap up the story. It had a little bit of everything: family drama, love, loss, love triangle, foreign exploring, etc.
I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit! First it was a great Paris travel read because you get to experience certain parts of the city. The writing was descriptive and the relationship was cute. However it was a bit all over the place because they were both rather complicated characters who don't know what they want. I breezed through this book once I actually got into it as I found myself avoiding reading this one at first because it didn't hook me right away. But I'm happy I did!
Kiss me in Paris is a story of one girl learning what it means to remember a loved one while living your own life. Memories can't be recreated but new ones can be just as impactful.
I enjoyed the evolution of Serena and Jean-Luc. They each started out without much personality or hope but by the end you had fallen in love with each of them as well as their romance.
This story takes place over one day and it is hard to imagine all the drama and everything happening in just one day. Part of me finds it a tad unlikely.
All in all a great quick read with just the right amount of drama and romance to keep you entertained till the very end.
Cute read that’s perfect for the summer! I read it one sitting and loved the characters and especially the setting!
This book was a fun read, but for most of the time I felt like I missed something. It wasn't until the end that I *felt* something. I have to admit, the last part was really romantic! The story also discusses grief, so that added something to it for me.
So if you're looking for a quick read with Paris as the setting, this is a great read :)
