Sylvia has a strong personality, her mother, and grandmother, taught her to always stick up for herself. Working in an industry that is predominately male, she learns to work hard and do her best, even if that means getting your drunk boss,to be where he needs to be. I loved Sylvia's grandmother, she has sass. Sylvia learns that life isn't always easy and friends mean everything.

Lies, Love and Breakfast at Tiffany's by Julie Wright is about long time friends finding there way to romance. The characters are realistic and personable. They make mistakes and learn from them. They have flaws. Those flaws make the story come alive. Wright does an excellent job of keeping you reading -- it's easy to keep going. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for something lighthearted to pass the time with!

I liked the story line, but I felt like there was too much that was referenced back to Breakfast at Tiffany's & other Hepburn movies. It got to the point that it was distracting instead of just a part of the story. Overall it was a cute book that I will recommend to my friends.

I’ve made it no small secret that I have a hard time with contemporary romance. I can’t explain why, it just hit and miss for me. More miss than hit. I’m much more critical of the genre, maybe because I’m critical of modern people in general (it’s take me days to explain that - it’s probably not for the reasons you’re thinking of).

So when I give a novel with a contemporary setting five stars, that is extremely high praise. And in this book’s case, the last 10% is what sold it to me. Up to that point, it felt like a run-of-the-mill contemporary romance. Not great, but nothing happened to mortally offend my readerly sensibilities (look up some of my other reviews of this genre and you might find some scathing - of hilarious - commentary). But the way this one resolved was a lovely surprise. I didn’t expect the ending to go that way, but I was quite pleased it did.

Fittingly enough, it reminded me of my feelings at the end of my favorite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday. When I first saw that movie, I thought I should have hated the ending. But it was done in such a way that I was actually satisfied. While this book ends differently than Roman Holiday did, my feelings about it are similar, if that makes sense.

All in all, a fascinating and different concept for a romance. I haven’t said how much I appreciated that the characters are film editors in Hollywood, rather than actors or producers or some other big-shot profession. That kind of thing gets overdone in romance. Even the book that this is a sequel to, Lies Jane Austen Told Me, involves the high-powered corporate world. But this... it’s the background people who rarely get the glitz and glamour. I enjoyed that immensely.

Super fun book. I enjoyed the story and the characters and the romance. Perfect. I highly recommend.

Julie Wright does a beautiful job of describing emotion well enough to convey to the reader not just the feeling of a scene or a setting, the but the emotions of her characters. Enough so that you draw a connection emotionally to the characters in the book, making them come alive.

Julie couching the plot in Silvia's search for happiness was a beautiful way to mirror that both Audrey and Silvia are more than their looks. Just as Silvia's character was discovering that happiness comes from the inside, not the outside, so does our goodness and beauty. The author's metaphor between the two ideas gave depth to the plot. 

This is the second book where Julie Wright has taken an iconic woman and used them to not only motivate her main character, but to motivate us; to change our hearts and inspire our minds. By the end of the book I wanted to go rent "Breakfast at Tiffany's" to see what I missed as a young 14 year old. Then I wanted to go rent a biography on Audrey Hepburn and learn all I can about this woman who was a revolutionary in her time. I want to be strong enough to say, "I'm good at what I do and I will not be undervalued." Good literature motivates to do and to become, our best selves.

Silvia Bradshaw is navigating Hollywood as a female film editor in an industry where misogyny abounds (especially from her boss) and other females are few and far between. With a huge, career-making deadline looking over her head--and a boss who is too drunk and angry to help in any way--she enlists a movie editor friend, Ben, for feedback. She had Ben had worked together for years, but because of a no-dating rule at their old studio, things never went beyond friendship. The pull of attraction is strong between them, but add in an old girlfriend, a vindictive P.A., a lawsuit, and a secret-keeping Grandma, and the road to romance gets very complicated.

This book was so much fun to read! I loved the insight into what an editor for a movie does, and I loved a character that wasn't afraid to stand up for herself! Silvia and Ben were a fantastic couple, and I loved that the plot took a few turns I didn't expect. The Audrey Hepburn quotes were just icing on the cake of a well-thought out, heartfelt book that was impossible to put down.

Romance, clean
This was a lovely read. Silvia's journey into editing films and production is rough and hard as she navigates being an assistant to a director who isn't engaged in his film. Her relationship with Ben, as a friend at a rival studio (her former place of employment, and former co-worker) is tricky, and seems to be met with road blocks in myriad forms. Silvia's family, her friends, her job, and of course, Ben meld together to make a lovely romantic read, and more than just a romance. Life, work, real life, love and happiness all rolled together. Beautiful, lush read, with problems, lovely romantic moments, and a lovely HEA. I think I enjoyed this much more than many 'Hollywood' set novels I have read recently. Well-done, and well-earned 4 from me (not given frequently). I think my favorite of all of her books I have read. Can't wait to read her next work.

I so loved this book way more than the first in the series! Silvia is such an enjoyable character and Ben is the perfect swoon-worthy, but also just normal guy that any girl would be lucky to have! I loved the details this story provided for what a film editor career is like and also the fears and anxieties that come from cancer. Overall, this was an amazing book that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Thank you net galley for an advance copy of the novel. I loved everything about it! This was the second piece by this author that I have read and I enjoyed this one even more than the first.

This is a contemporary clean romance set with the backdrop if the movie editing world. Silvia, a half blind editor, slowly realizes that she is in love with her friend, Ben, an editor at a competing studio.

The relationship that develops is sweet, tender,and very true to life. I Hought both characters were well rounded and real with flaws and challenges to over come.

If you're a fan of movies so many quotes throughoutare relayed in a game played by Silvia and Ben. I will recommend this book and Cannot wait for more by this author!

I initially requested this book due to the cover and title along with reading a few lines of the description and boy am I glad I did. I really enjoyed the characters in this book and often found myself rooting for Silvia when it came to her life at work and her love life. The supporting characters did not disappoint either. I loved Silvia’s sassy grandma and the banter between her and Ben.
Anyone with an interest in movies will appreciate the little homages to movie lines and references scattered throughout the book.
I finished this book in two days and I really want to have an Audrey Hepburn marathon. I think Silvia would approve. Now if only I could invite her over to join me.

Told all in first person account, this book takes you into the world of behind the scenes movie editing. The main character Silvia, has perhaps defied the odds and is exactly where she wants to be. With a well known studio and a picture company behind her, everything seems to be working out just great. Except she is an 'assistant' editor which means she is at the mercy of the chief editor, who, hasn't done a single thing on the project so far. Time is ticking and there is a looming deadline to meet. By chance she runs into one of her best friends from the past, who is also an editor and she spent many years working with. With mutual respect between them, Ben offers to help Silvia with her project. Except there is all kind of legal problems that may arise with Ben accessing the studio, and having a hand in the work. In the mix of it all Silvia re-examines her entire relationship with Ben. Are they friends, were they only ever friends, what do all the little things she keeps noticing mean? Could there be a possibility of more?

This may seem like a simple case of two friends reconnecting, but there is so much more to this story. I really liked the element that is brought in with Audrey Hepburn. Silvia & Audrey have a connection, and that threads throughout the book. Uncannily, other people comment on her likeness to Audrey, in appearance and also her eyes.

I enjoyed that this was a little different from other books I have read. Julie Wright has written another fantastic plot, that embellishes the story with many minor characters.

I’m still kind of processing this book, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t at all what I was expecting. From the description, I thought it would be a semi-lighthearted romance. That’s not what I found. It was pretty heavy.
