This had the markings for a cute book, a wedding and seeing an ex at said wedding. I definitely think this book delivered. It was light, cute and an easy read.
I enjoyed this but it did seem to take quite a while to go anywhere. Easy read. Wouldn’t rush to read any more by the author.
I love a good wedding story. The slight cheesiness in the plot didn't seem to bother me. I thought Emi was a great character and I really enjoyed reading about her and her experiences.
Great chic-lit read that kept me interested until the end. With realisitc scenes and very liable, relatable caharacters this was fun until the end.
I really related to this book. So many people have a lucky piece of clothing and Emi is no exception. She is wearing the dress when Josh proposes. It is downhill after that: she sees him in a compromising situation and flees to another part of the country a few days before her nuptials.
She is obliged to return when her twin brother is marrying josh's sister,
A sequence of events unfold, including the interference of Meghan who wanted to be with Josh. Josh;s Mother knows more than she is letting on.
The whole situation is clearer through a series of flashbacks.
The Dress, which she takes to the wedding does end up being lucky.
Good fun.
Emi has been heartbroken since her fiance broke off their engagement and has tried to avoid him ever since. Sh'es got a lucky dress that she's always worn when she's needed luck. Won't say any more in case it spoils story
Emi has had an unlucky year. Breaking up with her fiancee and moving across the country for a fresh start has helped her to forget that, but when Emi has to go the the same wedding as her ex, she needs a bit of a helping hand which only her lucky dress can provide. Will Emi find out what happened to her relationship and will she finally be able to put the past behind her?
Lucky Dress is a sweet and engaging book. The characters are believable and likeable which makes it a very readable book. Emi's brother's wedding provides a lot of comedic relief and also puts the reader in Emi's shoes...we've all been at an event with somebody that we don't want to see but sometimes we just don't have a choice.
A very lucky dress. An entertaining tale. Amusing in places. A multi strand storyline with interesting characters who each had very individual back stories.
I had high hopes when I first started this one.
I think because a lot of girls have their own version of a “lucky dress”.
Mine is a beautiful little black dress that I have had for about 10 years. I love it as much today as I did when I first purchased it. Anyway...I am getting off onto a tangent lol
I normally love a good predictable, drama romance story.
However, this just fell a little flat for me.
It starts off with the main character Emi, days away from her wedding day to perfect Jack. She meets him for lunch at his office where she discovers in him a not so innocent looking encounter, runs off, goes to talk to him, runs off and moves states away, All of this, without so much as a conversation with Jack.
For me, this in itself makes the story feel surreal and just a tad ridiculous.
If you have been in a long term relationship, ready to marry someone, a conversation should be had at least. Running away solves nothing.
It was predictable what had actually happened and all of the events that happened afterwards, again was predictable.
There was nothing in this that I didn’t expect to happen.
Saying this though, it was an easy quick read.
Perfect if you want to read something light-hearted, unfortunately a smidge too cheesy for me in the end.

I received a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. We meet our main character Emi who is forced to confront her ex fiance when they are in a wedding together. Parts of the book were fun, but I didn't like the way we jumped from the past to the Future in alternating chapters. The situation also seemed pretty unbelievable as well. Emi caught Jack with another woman when she surprised him in his office and later sees him invite another woman into their apartment. She calls off the engagement becauae of his cheatin and he brings the woman she saw walk into their apartment as his date to the wedding. There was a ton of miscommunication in this book!
The Lucky Dress by Aimee Brown is a cute romantic comedy. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking for the other books by this author. I love all the quirky characters that bring this book together. If you want a funny, heartwarming quick read, I recommend this book.
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I love this book so much! I couldn't stop reading it (I actually still have a the-lucky-dress hangover).
This easily became one of my favourite reads. I'm so happy I got a chance to somehow experience the happiness, sweetness, the heartbreak and sadness, and the craziness with these characters. Each of them were perfect for the story and that's one of the reasons I loved it so much.
Even though I could feel the richness of the Cabot's, I loved the fact that they were supportive (maybe overly supportive ?) of their relationship and that this didn't end up being one of those typical rich-ill-charactered story.
The way they met is how, I'm sure, most girls wish and imagine their first meeting with their boyfriends could be like.
I wish everyone can have it the way Emi's story ended. And I believe most girls deserve a Jack Cabot in their life. This whole book is just sweet, funny and romantic - it got me so excited for what was coming next!
It was totally worth the read!
Thank you for letting me read Emi's story!
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Great debut feel good book that made me smile and think back when I was that age.
The Lucky Dress is a second chance at love story and it works. It's a light, easy read, extremely entertaining and written with humor. I'd liken it to a romantic comedy and I can see it on screen easily. The characters are really likeable and the dialogue is so witty and sharp. The story is related in flashbacks for the most part, and that technique is well used by the author. It keeps the story moving. The various scenarios and situations are well drawn, and the story enjoyable. I would definitely read more from this talented author.
I recieved an e-reader copy of this book from NG.
What can I say about this book? I am sucker for a happy ending and when love works out. This book gave me all the jitter feels that you get when you are first getting to know someone, falling in love and eventually planning a future if it works out. This book was the perfect carefree easy summer read that I was looking for. It even made me tear up at the end. Happy tears with a heart full of love.
I really enjoyed this book. It is a light read, which is exactly what I was looking for.. I enjoyed how the chapters developed and kept the book very interesting!
This is a real page turner with many laugh out loud moments. I really enjoyed reading and is a great holiday read.
This book had me laughing, cringing with sympathy and rooting for Emi to finally get her happily ever after. Life has a way of throwing curve balls that sometimes turn out to be just the thing that was needed.
Jack and Emi are meant to be together or at least that seems to be the case until Emi walks in on Jack in a rather compromising position with his new assistant. She is understandably upset and calls off their wedding which was to happen in two days. Emi decides to move from Oregon to Texas with her best friend to get a fresh start and figures eventually she'll move on from the heartache. A year later she finds herself back in Oregon to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of her twin brother Evan and his fiancee Hannah (who is Jack's sister) . Little does Emi know how much that week will change her life and that maybe she'll get all that she's wanted with her lucky dress in tow.
This book was a wonderful mix of just what I love when it comes to reading stories that involve weddings, possible second chances, romance, family and a healthy amount of laughter. I'm so very glad I read this book and I hope there will be a sequel!
A nicely written and entertaining book with a villainess that I actually liked what she got up to... But it would have been better if the heroine had done it!
However, I am fed up that heroines these days all have one ambition - to open a cake shop/cafe. Or if that is their ambition, at least let it be a multi-site/international company that they found, rather than a local bakery with lovely fattening muffins etc.
I am down-grading this book for this part of the story-line - a lack of imagination as to what our heroine really wants to do with her life. Authors - calling you - please give our girls more ambition in this year of celebrating the English Suffragettes.
This is just what I needed, I'm still ill and needed something light and fun and this definitely ticked all of the boxes. I liked the back and forth and think it was a good element to the book!
