The fourth Morgan Dane thriller was a fast-paced, action-packed experience. It begins with Morgan meeting with a client before his court appearance. She learns that he had a previous assault experience that he hadn't told her about. Robert McFarland demands that she get him off without jail time despite the fact that he attacked a man in a crowded club in front of numerous witnesses and security cameras. Morgan's only possibility to get him off has to do with a procedural issue. When she presents him with the prosecutor's best deal, he sucker punches her in the side of the head and is ready to kick her in the face until the prosecutor and a bunch of deputies manage to pull him off her.

While Morgan is at the hospital for treatment an old friend of Sharp's drops in at his office. She is the widow of his partner who died in the line of duty twenty-five years earlier. Sharp had promised her husband to look after her and her baby Haley but their relationship wasn't good for either of them and she left the area. Now, she's come to Sharp because her daughter Haley has been accused of murder. She was found covered in blood standing over the corpse of a guy who took her home from a bar. She doesn't remember what happened.

Sharp contacts Morgan and she and Lance ride to the rescue to get Haley out of jail. She had been sitting in a cell for a couple of days. Since the sheriff was convinced that Haley's case was a clear cut case of murder, he had been focusing his attention on the case of a missing woman. When Morgan arrives at the jail, she finds a young woman who is suffering from Addison's disease and who has been left without treatment. She demands that Haley be taken to the hospital. While there they run drug and rape tests but Morgan knows that too much time has passed to get confirmation that she was drugged.

Even though she has a concussion, Morgan isn't going to slow down and rest when a young woman, especially one close to Sharp, is in danger. She and Lance begin trying to uncover what happened in the space of time that Haley doesn't remember that led to the death of Carter. But someone doesn't want them to investigate. Noah's brother Adam is especially concerned since he's convinced Haley killed his brother. He expresses his concern by sending threatening emails to Morgan and Haley, trespassing at Haley's house with a couple of weapon-wielding friends, and other things.

As Morgan and Dane investigate, they learn that Noah Carter wasn't the saint his family would like everyone to believe he was. They also are led to investigating Noah's friends who were at the club with them and who are a suspicious bunch of characters. Even Haley's ex-boyfriend comes under suspicion because he's quite an unsavory character too.

The action never stops in this story as Morgan, Lance and Sharp unravel all the twisted threads. I loved the relationship between Lance and Morgan. I liked that Sharp could get some resolution regarding his relationship with his partner's widow Eliza. I liked the introduction of a new character who intrigues Sharp. Fans of romantic suspense won't want to miss this story.

Haley Powell wakes up covered in blood, with no memory of how she got where she is, where the blood came from, or why the boy she likes is lying dead just outside the door. Is the blood all his? Hers? Both? Why is she there? What happened? She’s mentally fuzzy because she’s missed her medication for her Addison’s disease, but surely being fuzzy doesn’t mean she’s a murderer?

Or does it?

While the forensic evidence is certainly piled against Haley, her attorney, Morgan Dane, is convinced Haley’s been framed. There’s just something about the slight young woman that doesn’t seem to fit the bill for “stabbing someone repeatedly and angrily”. The general public of the town, however, don’t agree and soon Morgan finds herself at the mercy of a series of attacks that shake her sense of safety, but not her resolve to exonerate Haley.

This is the fourth book in the series Ms. Leigh has penned about Morgan Dane, her PI boyfriend Lance, and Lance’s partner Sharp, and each is told at a breakneck pace that leaves my Kindle slightly bruised from how fast I stab the “turn page” bit of the screen. As I read these in order, and the romance in particular builds each book (they all end with HFNs), I can’t speak to whether or not this is a stand-alone. A few of my fellow reviewers on other sites have said it can be, but if you’re a romantic suspense fan and haven’t read this series I’d highly recommend just starting from the beginning. They all have to do with some sort of violence against women - verbally, culturally, sexually, or physically - so be warned up front.

I have a standard policy against talking about plots of suspense novels beyond what’s revealed on the book jackets, and that definitely stands here. So what can I tell you about why it’s a DIK?

I read it breathlessly in one sitting and did not put all the puzzle pieces together until just before Morgan did. I wish I had a friend like Morgan and I am rooting so hard for her and Lance. I’m intrigued by Sharp’s history (which we delve into in this book in ways we haven’t before) and I hope we hear more from him in future works. I love that Morgan’s kids are humans and not plot devices, and I like that Morgan’s unhealthy habits (lives on caffeine and sugar, despite healthy Sharp’s best efforts) aren’t glossed over. Everyone in this world is a human and I trust Ms. Leigh that I should spend more time with them.

As I said before, if you like romantic suspense, you’ll like this series. If you’re not sure if you do, I’d recommend this as a good introduction to the genre. Light on the sex for the first few as Lance and Morgan are getting to know each other, but certainly not light on flirting or suspense.

4*

I have enjoyed every instalment of Melinda Leigh’s Morgan Dane series, and the fourth entry-- WHAT I’VE DONE-- is no exception: it is a superbly-crafted and well-paced page-turner with an outstanding cast of leading and supporting characters. I absolutely love both Morgan (badass with a heart of gold whom I want to be when I grow up) and Lance (be still, my heart!), and their relationship is so adorably heartwarming and genuine that it exemplifies why reading romance makes me so happy. Watching their relationship evolve and mature over the course of four books has been a treat, and I look forward to seeing what their lives look like once they’re all officially a family.

Can’t wait for more Morgan and company!

Morgan Dane Book 4.
This is the 1st time I have slipped into the world of Morgan, Lance and PI Lincoln and it will hopefully not be the last. You are thrown head first into a thrilling rollercoaster of a mystery. Can Morgan’s new client, found covered in the blood of the body, but with no memory of the night, be guilty. Morgan and Lance take their own lives in there hands to follow the suspects to the truth. This is a must read book you don’t want to put down.
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another winner in this series. I don't know how Morgan ends up in the situations she does but it makes for great reading. We learn a bit more about Sharp and his past in this story, which I loved. This one really leaves you guessing right up to the big reveal. I questioned Haley's guilt or innocence through the entire story. Morgan and Lance once again make a dynamic team and come out on top in the end, but not without some damage this go around. This story was full of more twists and turns than previous books. It is definitely the best one yet and I can't wait to see what the author does to these characters next.

Another homerun from Melinda Leigh! 4 stars!!!

What I’ve Done is the fourth book in the Morgan Dane series and I think the books just keep getting better if that’s possible. With the right amount of suspense, mystery, romance, and story telling Ms. Leigh weaves a tale that will keep you up reading well past your bedtime because it is impossible to put the book down.

This story had me guessing all the way through the book, and even when I thought I had it all figured out...there would be another twist. The thing I like about Ms. Leigh’s books is the twists are plausible and not from left field....like some authors, where you read a story and out of the blue at 85% a new character comes out as the villain. Nope, Ms. Leigh hides all her villains in plain site and keeps you guessing.

The characters where all fantastic and I was happy to see Morgan and Lance’s relationship continue to grow throughout the chaos. I CANNOT wait to see how the new character of Olivia Cruz and Sharp get along in future books.

This was an excellent book and I highly recommend this book and the entire Morgan Dane series!!!!

Another great installment. This fills in some of Sharp's history, which was nice. While it moves the personal story forward, this would stand well on it's own. As always, fast paced. I read it 8n one longish sitting. Leigh is one of my favorite correct mystery writers. I've yet to be disappointed.

What I’ve Done is a mysterious riveting tale that will have you glued to the pages from beginning to end. Once I started this book it was so hard to put down. I stayed up half the night reading it because I just had to see who the killer(s) were, how Haley faired through the entire ordeal, what Sharp’s outcome would be and how Morgan and Lance’s romance progressed. There is a lot going on in this book to hold your interest and keep you invested in the story. It is full of fast-paced suspense with a lot of action and many twists and turns. The more Morgan and Lance dig for answers, the more questions pop up and the more deadly situations become. It also contains a few serious hold-your-breath moments where you are on pins and needles hoping for a good outcome for the characters. For me, it was pretty much hard to quit reading; I just had to finish it all at once.

All the main characters are back in this installment and are just as wonderful and solid as in the previous books and the story is well-written and engaging and will leave you wanting more. I really enjoyed the sweet moments with Lance and Morgan and her girls and the subtle romantic tidbits with Morgan and Lance. I liked that there was a romantic touch throughout the story but it did not take away from or overwhelm the overall read with unnecessary relationship drama. There was just the right touch. It was nice to see a snippet of Sharp’s past and learn a bit more about him, though I was a little sad for him in the end with a particular outcome. My heart went out to Haley and her mom with the whole ordeal they had to go through and it was a nail-biting experience waiting for all the evidence to be revealed and the truth to come to light. This was a great addition to the Morgan Dane series and I look forward to more.

I received an advanced read copy of the this book from Net Galley. I was worried about starting with book 4 in a series but there was enough character development that I felt like I was able to jump into the story quickly. This was a quick, fun, suspenseful read. I really enjoyed it and just when I thought I knew where the story was going there was another twist. I now want to go back and read the first three in the Moran Dane series to get the whole back story.

“What I’ve Done” is book 4 of the Morgan Dane series. This is the first one of Melinda Leigh books I have read. I would put it into a Murder Mystery category. Although this is Leigh’s 4th book, I believe it can stand alone on its own, but after reading it I will be looking into her first 3 books.
Leigh’s characters are well rounded out and there are quite a few great characters! The story line/plot is solid. Defense Lawyers Morgan Dane takes on a case as a favor. Her client Haley wakes up naked, covered in blood, and has no memory of the night before. Dane and her boyfriend Lance Sharp PI work together to solve the mystery. There is a little romance going on between them but the story stays smack daub on helping clear Haley from a murder charge. Lives are threatened, houses are burnt down and from the very beginning to the end, it is a roller coaster of a read. Fast paced, with never a dull moment. 5⭐️
This is a pre released book from NetGalley and will be out the 18th of September 2018.

This was my favorite book in the series. I love Morgan, Lance and Sharp. So many horrible crimes seem to happen in their small town. I hoping their might be a love interest for Sharp soon. She's a perfect match for his love of all that is healthy.

Morgan finds herself defending Haley, a young lady being accused of murder. Haley also happens to be the daughter of Sharp's partner who was killed in the line of duty. Haley woke up covered in blood and finds the guy she went home with outside---DEAD!! Haley has no memory of the previous night. Morgan, Lance and Sharp start doing what they do best and begin digging into the murder mystery. They question possible suspects and try to figure out what really happened. Someone doesn't want them to figure out the truth, which leads them to being shot at, attacked and having to survive house fires.

The book is full of suspense and creepy psycho people to keep you guessing on who really committed the crime. There are many twist and turns. I wasn't sure who was going to end up being the killer, but I did get some bad vibes off of Piper. Her reaction about Haley and the knife skills she displayed with the chicken gave me the creeps. Besides a mystery to solve, there's always a bit of romance with Lance and Morgan. I see Morgan, Lance and Sharp having a long career with so many innocent people in their town constantly being arrested for horrible crimes.

I definitely recommend the book. I can't wait to read the next one!!!

Thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and the author, Melinda Leigh, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

First, I have to say I love reading this series. It is nice to see the characters progress, and get to know them. I especially get a kick out of how Lincoln Sharp is always trying to make everyone eat better , lose the coffee and the power struggles that ensue. It's fun. A very good mystery that will keep you guessing. It also brought home how dangerous the workplace can be. What happens to Morgan in the beginning of the book is a real shocker. You just never know what people might do. I thought what happened with her client was very scary. The author does a good job of making you feel like you are there experiencing the investigations with them, so you feel the punches, and the fear, and the explosions and so forth. This book has a unique storyline and is a page turner.

A defendant presumed guilty with all evidence pointing in her direction until defense attorneys investigate possibilities and theories to disprove the evidence.
The investigation caused an uproar with the public inviting dangerous situations lending to a story filled with suspense. I found it thrilling, energetic, and entertaining. This was a well written story that kept me guessing.

This was a character driven story with a media circus of activity. With protestors, assault, and violent acts of danger this story was full of surprises.

Thank you to Netgalley for the early copy of this book.
This is my second book by the author, the first being Say You're Sorry, book #1 of the Morgan Dane series.

I enjoyed What I've Done very much. It kept me on my toes the entire time. It was fast paced, a lot of action, lots of unexpected turns. I love Lance, Sharp and Morgan. They are a great team. Everyone brings something to the table. Lance's mom is a helpful asset to the team. Morgan's family brings the tender and sweet side to the book. There were a few tensed moments where I was scared for the characters. I had to keep reading to find out what happens to everyone.
Morgan and Lance are so good together. I liked how they had loving moments but that did not take over the story.
I will have to go back and read book #2 and #3 in the series. If you love murder solving books, with interesting twists and turns, and a well skilled investigating team, this is a book for you.

night and soon finds herself arrested for murder .

Morgan Dane's friend and colleague , PI Lincoln Sharp , ask for a favour …………...he wants Morgan to
defend the young woman even though all the evidence points to her being the killer . He has a past
with the Hayley's mother , the wife of his dead partner ……….. he promised to protect her but she moved away
after his partner's funeral and they lost touch . She is now back asking for his help in the fight to prove her daughter's innocence .

Morgan is initially slow to believe in Hayley's innocence , she has no memory of what happened , what left her covered in the victim's blood …………. but events occur that soon make Morgan realise that Hayley is being set up .
Hindered by an injury received from another person that she had being defending in court , she must use all her resources to keep not just Hayley but herself safe from the real culprits of the murder .

I swore Melinda Leigh couldn't get any better and than I sit down and read book 4 in the Morgan Dane series and Wow!

What I've Done is by far the best in the series and while you can read it as a stand alone because the author catches readers up fast to the previous books read the first 3 to understand what makes this book amazing!

The author creates a a cast of characters that come to life as readers focus on Morgan and her future.

The story takes readers on a mystery of Lincoln Sharps life before meeting Morgan as well as a promise that will have him hanging on to his life.

From the quite moments to the heart pumping moments this story will have readers dying for more.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Melinda Leigh What I've Done.

WHAT I’VE DONE. Melinda Leigh
Haley, wondering what happened, Piper’s birthday, she didn’t want to go.,2 drinks, and now where was she. They always watched each other’s back, but this didn’t feel normal. The smell and streaks of blood, she followed, and then Noah. Now in jail, her mother called in a favor, Sharpe, who has worked with Morgan. Sharpe, Lance and Morgan, give it there all, and no clues coming. Angry issue, rape charges that have been dropped. A case before, seemed to be the tie they were looking for. Threats, homes burnt, and for Haley the nightmares. Will they find the thread to connect it all, proved to be another of her books, you want to read straight thru. Given ARC by Net Galley and Montlake for my Voluntary review and my honest opinion.

A strong 3.75 star rating
Release date 9/18/18

I've read each of the others in this series, which I am very much enjoying. I'm happy to have discovered Melinda Leigh through some giveaways of kindle prime selections. This pre-release copy was provided to me by NetGalley and I sincerely thank them for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my review.

Of all the books in the series, I was a bit less enchanted with this one midway. It lagged for me at that point, but made up for it in the last half. I do like the staff of Sharp Investigations and all the characters so I read on and was glad I stayed with it.

Here attorney Morgan defends a client that clocks her literally, in the face. She is offered a job as a prosecutor out of state and entertains the thought after that incident. He gets arrested and out of her hair as she takes on the case of a young girl accused of murdering a date. The girl wakes up covered in blood and saying "What have I done?" she doesn't remember a thing. The town thinks she is guilty, circumstantial evidence points to her guilt, and the public is adamantly persecuting her any chance they get, especially the victims friends. Morgan and Lance's lives are threatened, fires started, homes burned down, rocks through windshields, molotov cocktails, you name it. Sharp knows the girls mother as she was the wife of his late best friend from several years before. They have some history and he feels obligated to help them, getting caught in the cross fire. He is also befriended and attracted to of all beings, a female reporter (egads, really?) who seems to legitimately want to help him solve this case. We will see if their friendship goes any further in any upcoming releases.

Morgan and Lance's relationship gets more serious, both admittedly in love with one another, but the romance takes a back seat to the crimes they are trying to solve and the difficulties they encounter. I found the ending a bit of a stretch as far as the guilty goes, but can't divulge more. Still it was nice to revisit all the characters, Morgans sweet little girls, Grandpa, and Lance's mom, and to learn a bit more about Sharp's past. I'm please to recommend the series to fans of police procedurals, romantic suspense and mysteries.
