I just loved this book! The mystery of the murder kept me guessing throughout the book. There was little to of action and suspense. The writing is masterful. I just adored the ending! I received an advance review copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! Really enjoyed this suspenseful novel. Been into romance for many years. But decided to change it up a bit and boy am I glad I did. Read it...you won’t be sorry.
In the 4th installment of the Morgan Dane series, Morgan and Lance are trying to help someone from Sharp’s past. Morgan’s client work up covered in blood and no memory of the night before. How do you defend a client with actual blood on her hands? Things look dim but Morgan, Lance, and Sharp don’t let that stop their investigation.
This book, like the earlier Dane books, is a non-stop ride of intrigue that you won’t want to put down. Melinda Leigh is on top of her game, yet again, and readers will not be disappointed. I hope we get to see more of Morgan and company because I just love the characters so much. Do yourself a favor and read these books!
This is the first book that I have read of Melinda Leigh. I loved this book. I had a hard time putting the book down. It was a nail biter right to the end. Morgan, Lance and Sharpe are believable characters. If I was in trouble I would definitely want Morgan as my lawyer. I have found myself a new author.
This is the fourth title in the Morgan Dane thrillers. After a request from her long time P.I. friend Lincoln Sharp, Defense Attorney Morgan agrees to defend Haley Powell who has been charged with the murder of Noah Carter. After leaving a club the night before with Noah, Haley awoke the next morning in a strange house covered in blood. Haley suffers with Addison Disease and doesn’t remember anything. Could she have blacked out and not remember killing Noah? Did someone spike her drinks at the club the night before? Sharp along with Morgan’s significant other, P.I. Lance Kruger, begin to delve into the list of possible suspects. Someone doesn’t want them investigating as several attempts are made on their lives. As with every book that Ms. Leigh writes, the reader is pulled in to the incredible story line and characters. You could read this book as a standalone, but you would be missing so much of the past history between Morgan, her law enforcement family, Lance, Sharp and Morgan’s endearing three children, Sophie, Ava & Mia. There is danger, suspense, romance, mystery, and humor…everything you could ask for and more. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Another great story from Melinda Leigh. I love this one more than the last one. They just keep getting better.
Melinda Leigh’s ‘Morgan Dane’ juggernaut of a series goes on strong with no sign of abating and I for one, am glad for it. With little of the unnecessary (and sometimes over-exggerated) drama as her stalwart, arse-kicking protagonists who go from strength to strength, ‘What I’ve Done’ is another solid offering in which I was happy to get lost.
There’re slight developments in Morgan’s and Lance’s relationship which are always nice to read about, but by and large, they are an established couple, which frees Leigh to concentrate on the suspense. We’re plunged straight in, like any police procedural show: an establishing mystery which eventually turns out to be the complicated case that Morgan and Lance get involved in. The stakes are high; the evidence mounts against them in a near-indefensible case, but Leigh quite masterfully twirls the mess until it makes coherent sense with a satisfying resolution.
It isn’t often that I like the suspense overshadowing the romance—a hearty mix of heat and action is typically what I look for—but this series is one that I can’t help but want more and more of. In short, I was nonetheless riveted and engaged—when the case unravels to show that no one is truly innocent and the degree of debauched behaviour is just skewed towards who’s the worse guy.
Admittedly, the romance is subdued, the heat much less pronounced with a new kind of conflict brewing but Morgan/Lance’s chemistry and affection for each other—borne of months working seamlessly together—are obvious despite the very few scenes that concentrate solely on them. 'What I've Done' is nonetheless solid and well-written, closing with the sense that this growing partnership in more ways than one, is far from over.
This book got my attention right from the first page!
A young woman wakes disorientated, naked and covered in blood. Horrified she stumbles down the hall of a strange house and finds a gruesome murder scene in the kitchen. Murky memories leave her wondering if she was a victim, or was it possible she’d committed murder?
Defense lawyer, Morgan Dane has more than enough on her plate right now, including a slight concussion thanks to an ungrateful client, but when friend and P.I Lincoln Sharp asks for her help she can’t refuse.
The evidence against Haley Powell was overwhelming and newsworthy, Morgan had no idea how she was going to get her newest client a fair trial, but she had to try. Something inside told her the girl was innocent.
The author adds just the right amount of romance to give quiet moments in between the action that gains momentum like a speeding bullet with every page. There are so many red herrings I could have made soup!
Thanks to Melinda Leigh and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this fast-paced mystery.
I give What I’ve Done 5 lovely kisses- A Thrilling Read!
Melinda Leigh is a new author to me. Suspense is one of my favorite genre's and this book did not disappoint. I had not read the other books in the series, and I was able to follow along. I will definitely be going back and reading the other books at the beginning of the series.
The latest installment in the Morgan Dane series does not disappoint. It has the right balance of excitement, romance, danger, and plot twists.. For those of us who consider Morgan, Lance, and the crew to be family, this book provides an opportunity to get a more in-depth picture of who they are and how their backgrounds shaped their characters. As always, I will be waiting anxiously for the next installment.
This is a heart pounding mystery that will have you on the edge of your seat and holding your breath with the dangers and exciting action that happens in this story. New characters and back stories add to the depth of the world and you really do fear for Morgan, Lance and Sharp’s lives in this book. It is a twisting, complex murder, mystery with so many suspects that you are not sure who the culprit is, and there is some great romance thrown in there too. This is a thrilling, cannot put it down book; the best in the series so far. I received an early copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way influenced my review and all opinions expressed are solely my own.
I adore this series. It just keeps getting better and better. This couple has such chemistry! Every new case leads to a ending that I don’t see coming. This author is one of my most favorites.
There are no words. Melinda Leigh has a way of drawing in the reader like no,other. I'm always literally on the edge of my seat from the first page to the last. I absolutely love this series and all the characters. They're definitely a unique family. I can't wait to see what happens next,
Fourth book in the Morgan Dane series. I love these characters. Every book has me on the edge of my seat wanting to read faster to I can find out what happens. Twist and turns, suspenseful.
Morgan Dane is back.
Unlike the slower pace in the previous 3 books in this series, the opening chapter of ‘What I’ve Done’ starts with a ‘bam’ literally and keeps on going.
An old friend of Lincoln Sharp hires Morgan to defend her daughter when she is suspected of murdering a boy she was dating. In their investigation and defence Morgan, Lance and Sharp face an overwhelming truckload of physical and forensic evidence, not to mention the fact the defendant Haley can’t remember anything about the night in question due to amnesia.
I think this series is getting better with each book. The case Morgan and Lance take on with Haley is pretty interesting. The mystery surrounding Haley and her amnesia was very intriguing. I honestly had no idea how Morgan and Lance were going to help or even how the book was going to end.
I really enjoyed ‘What I’ve Done’. Melinda Leigh never fails to produce a superb romantic suspense novel. Hopefully more Morgan and Lance books are on the way.
Another exciting book in this wonderful series! After being attacked by a client at the courthouse, Morgan is asked by Sharp to represent the daughter of an old friend. This case proves to be difficult as the evidence points to the fact that she just may very well be guilty. Add in the attempted murder of Morgan's partner and boyfriend Lance and this is one hair-raising story! Highly recommend!
Melinda Leigh once again does NOT disappoint with another book in the Morgan Dane series. How can you not love Morgan , Lance and Sharp?? This book grabs you from the first chapter with Haley waking up from a night of drinking ( or was she drinking?) with a dead body in the backyard? Is there something much more sinister going on? Well Morgan is on the case and with so many twists and turns and a shocking conclusion how can you not give this book five stars?! Loved it... Keep writing Melinda! I will keep on reading. Love this series. Romance, suspense and a great story line.
This is my second read of a Melinda Leigh title. I definitely enjoyed this story more. I liked the mystery storyline. It was a solid story that kept me interested. I really enjoyed the character Lincoln and wished the story focused a bit more on him.
Melinda Leigh’s books are just phenomenal. She has never disappointed. I am addicted to this series and hope it keeps going. The suspense and twists kept me guessing. I just could not put it down. I cannot wait to read more.
Another fast paced enjoyable story. The characters are all interesting and it's good to catch up with them.
Lots of red herrings and misdirection,a good thriller.
