This sexy short is book 7 in the Crescent Moon series and features Hudson and Erica. The book started with these two already together. It was a lack of communication that threw it all off and had Hudson scrambling to make it all right again.
This is a quick read with fabulous characters. I can’t wait to read more.
The story was well developed, the characters were enjoyable, but I was just missing something. This can be read as a stand alone. On the steam level it's minimal, but the one scene is sexy hot!
I'm a sucker for a werewolf story. Wolf's Mate, a novella by the wonderful Katie Reus, breaks the mold for how we would expect werewolves to act. Hudson, the alpha werewolf, is very sensitive to how times have changed and wants to take things slow with Erica. That is far different than many WW stories I've read, when the alpha takes his mate wham, bam, thank you ma-am.
The only problem is Erica thinks he isn't interested. When she realizes she is pregnant, Hudson was to commit to her, but she doesn't believe that he wants to do it because of his feelings for her. The last thing she wants is to be someone's obligation.
Miscommunication, misunderstanding, and missed meetings make up much of the story. These elements are frustrating to me, even when I'm watching a tv show or a movie, much less having to read about it! I always want to shake the characters and tell them to act like adults and explain them themselves better or use the phone to set up a meeting, for Pete's sake. Even with the frustration, though, the story was enjoyable and a fast read.
This is the first book I've read in this series, but I didn't feel any lack of understanding. I think anyone could just jump right in and enjoy!
Erica left her pack to travel the country and experience life. She never expected to fall in love and it almost killed her to leave Hudson. But he never promised her a mating or forever, so she took what was left of her heart and ran back to her pack.
But when she finds out she is pregnant she returns to Hudson to tell him in person that he is going to be a father but that she is not obligating him to anything else.
Hudson is happy with his life as it is, he certainly never expected to find his mate. But being quite a bit older than Erica, in werewolf years if not in looks, he didn't want to go fast and ruin it. But he went so slow she upped and left him! Now she is back and pregnant and he wants to show her what she means to him, but now his offering to mate looks like an obligation. Oh man he is in all kinds of trouble now!
Add in strife between Hudsons's pack and the neighbouring pack, the fact that Erica's pack is cross country and Hudson has a bit of a headache! Great read and lovely characters.
Erica thought she was having a fling with Wolf but ended up not turning out that way. She finds out that she is is expecting. Wolf realizes that he loves her but doesn't want to scare her away.
Wolf’s Mate is the seventh book in the Crescent Moon series and bring us Hudson and Erica’s story. Two different packs one engaging novella, I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more
It was a fast read. Good story line. I do like that how they met was brought back by memories. Not the usual shifter book when you knew right away that you were mates and didn't smell the pregnancy right away. Hudson and Erica chemistry was alright. I liked Hudson dialogue and interaction. He was trying his best not to be barbaric and claim right away for the younger generation. Erica personality threw me at times. She didn't keep my interest like Hudson dialogue did.
I’ve popped in and out of this series a few times and always enjoy myself no matter where the larger storylines are going. Each of these characters is so fun and engaging that I wish I had started from book 1 and devoured them all in order.
This short story begins with Erica. She’s on a year off to decide what to do with her life when she meets Hudson. They are both free spirits of a sort but suddenly find themselves wanting more. Hudson, in true overthinker fashion, tries the laid back approach to getting them to mate, letting her decide for herself and giving her time. Erica, assuming he would fight for what he wants immediately, takes his lack of effort as a rejection. They part ways, and that’s where we join Erica, now finding out she’s pregnant.
These two are absolutely adorable in their miscommunication and courting. The length of the book left me wanting even more, even though you get a smile worthy HEA for them. This world and the characters within are all fabulous!
I really loved this book, just wish it was not so short.
I love books that can capture me from the start.
I liked how strong Erica was and how even though she was utterly in love with Hudson, she was not going to let him just use her.
I was mad at Hudson at first when he just let her walk away even though he wanted her to stay.
Then Erica founds out she is Pregnant and she knows she needs to tell Hudson, but she does not want to be mated to him just because they are going to have kids together.
To find out what happens to Hudson and Erica you will have to read the book.
But let me tell you it's worth the read ;)
So, yeah...I didn’t realize this was a novella until I opened it up and saw that there was a distinct lack of dots in the “this is how long this book is as evidenced by these dots” area of the good old Paperwhite.
As such, all my grumbling about this book go hand in hand with it being a novella. So...can’t really complain...
And yet still I will.
I wish this had been longer. The characters were good, their chemistry was awesome, and I LOVE books that start AFTER the relationship has already begun. Plus it was about one of my all time favorite things in the world: Wolf shifter. But again, too short, too abrupt, not enough.
I sadz.
Erica laid her head against Hudson’s chest, Hudson was very muscular and had a lot of tattoos and a wolf shifter. Hudson was originally from a Scottish clan but now was second in command of the Kendrick pack and very Alpha but his brother Malcolm was Alpha of his pack. Erica knew her time with Hudson was coming to an end she had been in Montana and with Hudson in one month. . Erica wanted to keep her heart in one piece. Hudson couldn’t seem to keep his hands off Erica. Hudson asked her to stay another couple of days but he didn’t offer anything else but fun and a good time or so she thought. Erica had fallen for Hudson but she would leave with at least her pride. Hudson had to leave and do something for the pack and Erika packed ehr few things up as she had traveled all over for the last year but now she was going home to her pack and left while Hudson was gone. When she returned home erica discovered she was pregnant. Erica and Hudson texted or skyped almost every day and he asked erica to return but still offered her no future and Erica wanted it all to be mated and have a family together. Hudson was with Malcolm and practicing fightina and Malcolm called him a fool for letting Erica go. With what Hudson feels for her. Hudson decides to go get Erica in Alabama as he was absolutely miserable without her. Erica decides to go back to Montana as she had been gone a month to tell Hudson he is to become a dad of twins. Malcolm invited Erica to jin his pack when he picked her up at the airport as Hudson was on his way to her pack and didn’t know she was back in Montana and Malcolm needed to be taught a lesson and didn’t tell Hudson.
This was an excellent read. I wish it had been a little longer but that is because I so enjoyed the book so much. I loved Hudson and Erica together . I did chuckle at times especially when Hudson went to Alabama the same time Erica went back to Montana. I especially loved when Hudson offered to leave his pack and join her even though he was established in his pack. Just an all around excellent paranormal romance. This was a quick, fun, and easy read. . I loved the characters and the in and outs of this book and I highly recommend.
Erica is a wolf shifter and has been traveling for about a year. Her last stop is in Montana before she heads back to her pack in Alabama. Hudson is the second in command to the alpha who is his brother. Hudson is two hundred years old and was to claim Erica. She is so much younger and he’s afraid to scare her so they decide to just have a fling while she’s there. What she doesn’t expect is to fall for the handsome shifter but he has only asked her to stay not to be his mate. She goes back to Alabama but finds out she’s pregnant. Erica doesn’t think that should be shared over a text or Skype so she takes the packs jet and goes back to Hudson. But Hudson has decided he’s given her enough space and heads to her pack to tell her how he feels. When they finally got to the same place, he tells her but she thinks he’s just saying it because she’s pregnant. Can Hudson convince her his feelings are real and have been since he first saw her? Excellent story. Short but sexy. Two shifters that are not sure of each other’s feelings but try to sort it out. Read it in one sitting. Fast paced and steamy enough to leave you in a sweat. * Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
Cute story. I wish the story had been longer. Both characters are half-breds (wolf shfiters) who are both unalbe to communicate their want to become "mated" (married). Erica feels as if Hudson does not want a long term relationship with her - they have been shackig up with eachother for a month and he still hasn't asked her to mate with him. Hudson is the second in compand of their compound - his brother is the Alpha of the pack, Hudson is afraid that he would scare off Erica if her truly showed her his real feelings - they are generations apart in age. Erica runs back to her own pack out of fear that Hudson does not want to mate. A month later she learns she is pregnant and she needs / wants to let Hydson know. She thinks they can co-parent the twins (her healer / doctor senses that she will have twins). Hudson is so angry with himself that he allowed Erica to get away. I don't want to give the story away - so read it, Katie Reus is a great author. Enjoy the story.
Wolf’s Mate is another exciting story in the Crescent Moon series by Katie Reus / Savannah Stuart. Erica has spent a little time away from her pack for fun but just when she starting to get a little homesick, she meets Hudson and a no-strings fling has her falling in love. Hudson wanted to go slow and give Erica space in the hopes of not scaring her off unfortunately for him his she-wolf is determined to keep walls between them. This relationship is sticky, sweet, passionate and brings two emotionally confused wolves together as Erica and Hudson try to work through their feelings and determine if they are mates or not. The plot is fast paced and keeps readers glued to the pages with the romance suspense but also Hudson’s pack is having a bit of difficulty with another pack, so readers are introduced to two new packs and still get in some time with the Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack – Grant.
As always the characters are strong, captivating, easily connected to and draw their readers into their story and while the story is short, it is a delightful read with a fulfilling story because the author doesn’t try to pack too many happenings into too short of a book. The introduction to the new characters caught my attention which means that I hope means that Katie Reus continues to provide me Crescent Moon stories.
Wolf's Mate by Katie Reus, Savannah Stuart is book Seven in the Crescent Moon series. This the story of Erica and Hudson. I have read the previous book and we briefly meet Erica but this book starts with a relationship of sorts already going on. Erica understood that they were just together for a short time since he didn't 'claim' her. Hudson being the older man in the relationship didn't want to scare Erica off since she was 'younger' than him. So he tried to go slower with her but when she tried to get away he quick started to make her see that they could be more.
Fun novella. Perfect amount of angst, steam and sweet. Definitely can be enjoyed whether a first time reader of the series or a long time fan. For me,this, was the perfect palate cleanser. I had just finished an uber angsty contemporary romance, and needed something to bring a smile and some fun. This was the perfect diversion for me.
It was just supposed to be a no-strings attached fling. Until she ended up pregnant with Hudson’s child. She thinks she is an obligation but Hudson doesn’t think so and he plans to show her just that. This is a fast-paced read with plenty of drama and steam. Just wish it was longer. A good read.
Hudson is second in command of his pack. He and Erica both wanted a no strings attached fling but she fell for him in the month they were together, fell hard. Hudson asked her to stay a little while longer but she figured if she stayed longer her heart would be even more broken than it already was going to be when she left. So she went back to her own pack after having taken some time for herself. Then she figures out that she's pregnant after getting sick. She panics a little because she doesn't think that Hudson wants anything more than a good time but once he finds out, he claims he wants more but it's hard for her to believe that he really wants her and not just because she's pregnant.
These two could have cleared up so many misunderstandings if they had just been open and honest with each other but that seems to be a problem with a lot of couples.
While Erica and Hudson are trying to get to know each other more and get used to the fact that they're going to be parents, a neighboring pack of wolves were causing problems for Hudson's pack. Hudson's brother is the alpha and they're both trying to figure out why this other pack is causing problems for them.
This was a short sweet PNR novella. Just the right length for me one day when I had a little time to spare. I have a soft spot for shifters and this was a great story.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Discloure: I was given this ebook free from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.
Wolf's Mate by Katie Reus who also writes as Savannah Stuart has given us a wonderful new novella in the world of the Crescent Moon Wolves. No one wants to be an obligation to someone else, so the heart of this story resonates with us all.
This fast-paced novella concerns two wolves from different packs but more important two different generations. There are misconceptions, miscommunication and missed clues between the adorable young Erica and much older Hudson. I especially enjoyed the dual perspectives, if only those two could have been mind readers. It is a cute but intriguing because of the pack business that comes up as these two worked through their relationship.
Wolf's Mate is book seven in the Crescent Moon series but reads wonderfully as a stand-alone. It has an easy to read style that keeps you reading to a satisfying conclusion.
This was a cute steamy shifter romance that was low drama and low angst. It was funny how these two were so attuned to each other but let their own feelings of doubt and fear get in the way of what everyone already knew. That they were meant for each other.
I liked Hudson and Erica, the alternating POVs helped you see where assumptions throw a kink in this love story and it was nice to see them finally talk and work things out between them. The chemistry and heat is definitely still there a la Katie Reus so fans of this series will enjoy this quickie read.
Would I recommend?
Yes, it was a cute addition to this author's ongoing shifter series.
