Unforgettable is an intriguing mystery that starts with a murder before WWII and spans several decades into present day. The granddaughter of the victim travels to Germany to collect the remains and to see if she can find out anything about the murder. Her investigation leads to more mysteries and even danger. While the pace is sometimes a bit slow, the mystery is compelling and well developed. The major characters are well written and complex. The complicated conclusion is ultimately satisfying. I can recommend this book to mystery lovers.
I like the premise of this story. Following her great-grandfather's steps like bread crumbs leads Haley on an adventure she hadn't planned on. Not only is she able to find out about her grandfather's past, but she is able to reconnect with her family through her journey. A sweet romance & suspenseful mystery.
I really enjoyed this book!! It captured my interest from the first chapter and held it. Although it wasn't set in pre-WWII Germany, it contained a lot of history from there. I loved how it reached into the past with a modern day easy suspense.
A story of suspense with twists and turns and a bit of romance. The novel was a bit hard to follow at times, but I think that would make it especially appealing to a history buff. Thanks to Net Galley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read an advance copy.
Thank you to Covenant Communications and NetGalley for the ARC.
I’m not really a book cover girl but I was drawn to this one because of the picture of the old city and wanted to know where it was set. After I read the synopsis I had to read it.
WWII Historical fiction, mystery and suspense with the icing on the cake being set in my favourite part of Germany - Munich.
The story line was unique and had merit. Hayley travelled to Germany to pay her respects to her great grandfather whose body was found some 70 years after he disappeared. When she arrives in Germany, Joshua her brothers friend is there to meet her and together they visit the beautiful towns in the Bavaria region, discovers some of her family history and become fresh targets by the people who killed Ulrich along the way.
I loved the visit to Neuschwanstein Castle and the history of the eccentric King Ludwig, it brought back fond memories of my trip there.
Sadly at the 50% mark I lost interest. The development of the story was too slow and there was too much going on. Hayley and Joshua came across as too trusting and gullible and the victims and collateral damage along the way did not sit well with me.

Haley Wyatt's great grandfather Ulrich was murdered in 1938, right before World War II. In the present day, his body was just found in a basement in a German house. Haley's great grandmother is dying of cancer, and one of her last wishes is for Haley to fly to Germany, find out as much as she can about her great grandfather, and plan a memorial service for him in Munich. Once Haley arrives, her brother Todd enlists the help of his friend Joshua to help her and protect her from the criminals who are still out to keep the details of Ulrich's death hidden and who will stop at nothing to do so. As Haley and Joshua come closer to the truth, the danger they are in increases. Can the police solve the case before it's too late?
I enjoyed this book overall, especially the very end. The writing was so descriptive and realistic that I felt like the story was really happening in front of me. The characters were complex, and Haley's love for her great grandmother was very touching. The subject matter was very sad and suspenseful, and some of the events were disturbing. I loved the connection to the stolen art during World War II because that subject continues to fascinate me. The little bit of romance added in was clean and very sweet. I recommend this book to adults who enjoy historical fiction, mysteries, and suspense.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. A positive review was not required, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Thank you net galley for an advance copy of this novel. I
This novel was a historical fiction set in two time periods. I liked how this was clean. This novel was a bit hard to follow and some parts like the bricked in death seemed a bit gruesome. I would recommend this novel for serious art history buffs.
This book! I loved it. I also love the cover. Past/Present and a beautiful German city.
The tragic story of the WWII time period and how a man was killed and lost to the World. The story brings us quickly to a contemporary time period and with the dying wife of Ulrich, the man who was killed and her great granddaughter, Haley.
This story takes me back to my mother's WWII life in Germany and lots of memories come to me as I read the events of the story and a mystery that needs to be resolved.
Great story. I couldn't put it down!
I received an ebook copy from NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
Ronda Gibb Hinrcihsen's "Unforgettable" is an enjoyable, easy read. The character's are likable, the story line is unique, with just the right amount of mystery to keep you going but not keep you up at night. Like any romance, you know where things are headed -- but it's a lot of fun getting there. It took me a chapter or two to get into the story, but once I was in, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
**I received a free copy of this book to review. That being said, the opinions expressed are my own!**
Mystery; Romance, clean;
This was more of a murder mystery, with a little bit of romance mixed in. Haley heads to Germany to find out what happened to her Great grandfather Ulrich after his body is found behind a brick wall at the request of her Grandmother. While there she is accompanied by her brother's good friend who is in Europe sampling some hotels to get a feel for the style for his father's hotel business. As they try to connect clues and facts surrounding her grandfather's life and final days prior to a memorial service, they realize that bad things are in play.
This was a good read, not as intense or tension driven as some mystery suspense. The romance was kind of a side note to the story. The stolen art and the mafia type group that has hidden it in plain sight made for an interesting story, and that part, along with Haley's family story made for an interesting read. I would have liked a more pulled together ending, and more intensity from the writing for this to be a great read.
Grisa sends her great granddaughter to Germany to find out what happened to her husband after his remains were found. Follow this story thriugh Haley's eyes as she goes to Germany where she meets Joshua who helps her untangle the story of her great grandmother. The twists and turns will keep you guessing until the end.
I was given a free copy of this book by Covenent Communications and Net Galley for my honest review.
Unforgettable is a well written suspense. I enjoyed the plot, characters and the author’s writing. The author is new to me and I definitely will be reading more of her books. I highly recommend to fans of suspense.
A fast paced read that kept me turning pages as fast as I could read! I'm usually not a fan of suspense, but this story grabbed me from the beginning. I loved the characters, especially Haley and the relationship she had with her grandmother. Even though the story takes place in a short amount of time, I thought it was well written and I would read it again.
UNFORGETTABLE is a highly addictive novel that weaves a contemporary story with pre-WWII Germany. When Haley gets a shocking call from a detective in Germany, her life changes instantly. A well-known artist who turns out to be her great-grandfather has been found dead there. On the behest of her great-grandmother, she travels to Germany to learn the truth. Instead, she discovers more questions and finds that danger dogs her. Support and possible romance appear in the form of Joshua, a man from Haley’s past in Germany on business. Together, they work to uncover the truth bringing great risk to both of them. 5/5
Thanks to the author, Covenant Communications and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine.

First off, let me just say that I am LOVING my book choices this summer! It has been months since I picked up a book that I didn't really enjoy, and this one is no exception. Unforgettable by Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen is definitely a novel that will stay with me for a long time and was deeply moving.
Synopsis: Haley is a young woman who spends her days working at her family's mortuary and all of her free-time caring for and spending time with her great-grandmother, Grisa. Although they live in the U.S., Grisa immigrated from Germany at the start of World War II with her young daughter after her husband mysteriously vanished. Assuming her husband Ulrich abandoned his family, Grisa has spent decades angry and hurt....until one day when Haley receives a shocking phone call from a German police detective. Ulrich's body has been found and all signs point to MURDER!
Grisa begs Haley to go to Germany and find out what happened to her husband all those years ago. What she uncovers are generations of secrets, lies, and a group of suspicious people hellbent on keeping their operations a secret. The lengths these people will go to keep their secrets.........well, I'm not saying anything else, other than this is SUCH A GOOD READ! Mysterious, historical, heartfelt- I just loved this book so much! Although the book is fictional, many elements of the book are true, and it really made me think about how devastating war is on so many people, and the lengths that "bad guys" will go to get what they want is terrifying.
Lucky for you, Unforgettable is already out and available for purchase!
5 out of 5 stars for Unforgettable by Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen.
