Dawson Callahan is a wrangler in search of a job in Wyoming. He learns of a job available in the Wind River area and immediately goes there to be interviewed by Sarah Carter, the sheriff of the county. Sarah is impressed by Dawson and his background as a Navy medic. Being a person with a military background, Sarah appreciates Dawson and hires him as a wrangler on her grandmother's ranch. Dawson is perfect for the position and becomes the protector of Sarah and her grandmother. A terrible work-related problem happens to Sarah and she is forced to flee for her life with Dawson in tow. I loved this new addition to the Wind River series. It was an exciting thriller that had a touch of romance and mystery. I recommend this series to those who love to read about ex-military characters and romance.

Wind River Lawman by Lindsay McKenna will be available August 28, 2018 from Zebra, an imprint of Kensington Books. An egalley of this book was made available in exchange for a honest review.

Great stand alone book but if you love a series Wind River is the one for you. Sweet love story with suspense and danger to spice it up even more. It’s nice to see men and women treat each other as equals in a relationship. I like that the novel includes military vets and spotlights the effects of ptsd on our military. Thanks to the author and her publisher along with Net Galley for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy of Wind River Lawman.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
Loved it. Lindsay McKenna is always a must buy for me and this ranks up there as one of her best. I was drawn in from the first page and I had a very happy journey with Sarah and Dawson.
Great series.

The one thing you can always count on with a Lindsay McKenna book is that she goes out of her way to remind her that above all lawmen and women and ex-military of both sexes are above all else human beings. People with strengths and weaknesses and needless to say flawed imperfect humans. And in WIND RIVER LAWMAN we are blessed with the introduction of two more Lindsay McKenna strong amazing characters. McKenna does not make her people caricatures. No that would be totally disrespectful. Characters in WIND RIVER LAWMAN are so real they practically leap off a page and shake your hand ready to say howdy. Oh that’s my little omage to Texan hello. If you love Texas, lawmen, ex-military stories than look no further than anything written by Lindsay McKenna and if you are in the market for a great one WIND RIVER LAWMAN.
Sheriff Sarah Carter is a very multidimensional character. Ex-military and committed to service to her small town. But the largest part of her person was her devotion to things family. Her grandmothers and parents were essential to Sarah and their well-being topped the list. Life was getting complicated. Her grandmother Gertie needed an assistant. Gertie egg farm – the Loosey Goosey – was a very demanding but loved job for Gertie and her employees. But Sarah was getting quite a few calls to help Gertie and the realist in Sarah said that she could no longer be at the beck and call of her beloved grandmother. Her own responsibilities prohibited that.
So putting out an ad for someone was necessary. And the requirements were rather vague at least those she included in the ad. Sarah just hoped she could find just the right person for assisting her older grandmother and one that had a medical background.
Dawson Callahan fit the bill. At least the ones listed in the ad. But as it turns out Dawson passes all the tests. Sarah of course has him researched and his military and personal background came through with flying colors. The most difficult test was going to be Gertie. Gertie may be no spring chicken but nothing escaped her discerning eye. Dawson was in and a very welcome addition to the Carter family.
It turns out that Dawson and Sarah fill some empty parts of each other’s lives as well. Neither was looking for anything even remotely resembling a relationship but there is no denying they make quite a smart couple.
But in WIND RIVER LAWMAN the romance part of the story definitely takes a back seat to the need for these two great characters to proceed with healing their pasts and somehow make a future – whether it’s together or not is not a major part of this healing. As friends they are a great match and have so much to share.
Needless to point out but Sarah’s job as Sheriff carries with it a certain degree of risk and danger. And both Sarah and Dawson are going to have to figure out a way to keep her safe from a long time enemy to the Carter family. This enemy has proven to already be ruthless and without any compassion. As Sarah and Dawson fight to maintain her safety concern for her family and friends is utmost in their minds. Both will have to challenge their inner strength and considerable military training.
WIND RIVER LAWMAN is a typical example of the intense stories by Lindsay McKenna. Page by page you are part of the ongoing drama with lots of surprises along the way. Enjoy.

Unfortunately I didn’t realise this was the sixth book in this series and as past characters made appearances I felt I missed vital information. This was a great story on it’s own merits, but I like to start a series at the beginning.

I knew that this was going to be an intense book since Sarah is the sheriff. Boy was it ever. The romance part of the book was a slow burn. But was perfect for this book.

I love stories set in a small town especially where a sheriff is involved, what was really great about this story is that the sheriff is actually the heroine. What makes Sarah even more appealing is that she is also a military veteran just like the hero, Dawson.

Sheriff Sarah Carter needs some help, a wrangler with medical background for her grandmother and her chickens. Enters Dawson Callahan, a former Navy combat corpsman, who had just left his parent’s ranch in Texas. He needs a new start and having been wanting to come to Wyoming he jumped at the chance. Before he is even offered the job, he is already deputized and assists with a 911 call which ends up becoming an ambush by some local drug lords.

As the story goes on, Sarah is again hurt and Dawson is willing and able to keep her safe while recuperating. The two grow close and realize their strong feelings for each other.

My feelings toward this book is a bit mixed. The love story between the two characters is sweet even with all they go through. I can understand for a relationship to work, the two parties need to communicate, but I felt like there was way too much communicating going on. It was almost too sweet for me.

I also really did appreciate the support of the military veterans in this book. All in all an okay book for me. Lots of action going on and a sweet love story.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington Books for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I have read a previous book in the series but this is easily a standalone title. Both Sarah and Dawson are well developed characters. It was easy to see how they would fall in love. It was a very realistic and suspenseful read.

Wind River Lawman is a contemporary story about two people helping each other to heal emotionally. Sarah is the Sheriff in town and she hires Dawson to help her grandmother Gertie. As situations arise Sarah and Dawson end up spending a lot of time together. While they grow close, danger isn't far behind.

I truly enjoyed this book. It was the first book I read in this series. I didn’t know it was book 6. I now need to get the first 5. What a wonderful story. Lots of action, laugh, suspense. Sarah & Dawson are the perfect couple. Both dealing with a sad past to come together for a wonderful future.

I posted this on goodreads

I found this one to be the best of the stories in this series.
A touching story about two individuals, both ex-military characters, that continue to honor what they stand for.
Sarah Carter is the Sheriff in Wyoming , who needs someone to help her grandmother in her ranch. Dawson leaves Texas to work the ranch and in doing so, ends up assisting Sarah in fighting the drug lord invading their territory.
Much faster paced than previous stories with an engaging plot and complex characters you will come to love.

Lindsey McKenna has always been a favorite author of mine because her books bring such a great taste of the wide outdoors. This is no exception. The sheriff is a lady!! This book was fast paced and full of action. It helped me to truly understand the dangers our soldiers and law enforcement face on a daily basis. I'm not ashamed to say I shed some tears! I felt a part of the story and it was great. It's part of a series and I'm sure to buy the rest.

Wind River Lawman, by Lindsay McKenna is a contemporary action-suspense romance.

Sarah Carter is the sheriff of her small town, but she's been dealing with major issues with drug cartels infiltrating the area. In addition to her job responsibilities, Sarah is constantly helping her grandmother, who desperately needs full-time assistance with her failing health and chicken ranch.

Dawson Callahan is a former Navy medic and wrangler for his family's ranch. However, he needs to start over and applies for the job position with Sarah's grandmother. This story includes plenty of danger and adventures for Sarah and Dawson, as they meet, work together, and fall in love.

Since it's the sixth book in Wind River Valley series, it's recommended to start with the first book, yet this story easily reads as a standalone.

Wind River Lawman is geared towards those who enjoy reading adventurous modern small town romances.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I received an arc from Netgalley. This was an endearing romance from one of my favorite authors and I enjoyed it very much.

Dawson and Sarah formed a friendship that grew into a beautiful relationship. Dawson helped Sarah work through some tragic past issues and protected her when trouble threatens.

Great summer reading.

Sarah, the town sheriff, decides to hire a chicken wrangler to help her grandmother run her organic farm. Dawson comes into town, and having experience on ranching in Texas he decides to apply. Since both have military background they click right away. A little is shown too of Shay and the others on the ranch that hires veterans, that have been the background of this series. Not a big focus here, but is brought up. Overall I liked it, but the creepy drug dealers turned me off a bit, and I skimmed those parts. Still, I liked the main characters and it kept my interest. Would recommend.
