A Killing By The Sea, by Kathleen Bridge, tells an intriguing tale of murder, lies, secrets and pirate treasure.
Liz Holt is a good, strong character who is very easy to relate to. I enjoy her role in this book, she stays strong and determined to find the answers to a nasty murder.
When a dead body washes up on shore, everyone is saddened to learn that it's Dylan, who disappeared not long ago.
Odd things soon begin to happen, and Liz can't stand by without asking questions, and it's those questions that soon get her into trouble.
The story is well written and has enough action to keep the reader anxiously turning the pages.
I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and agreed to provide an honest review.
I enjoyed this book. The mystery was good and very entertaining. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars (and this is probably me getting older) is that the book almost had too much going on and it got very hard to keep up with everything happening. That being said, i liked the book a lot and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed the first book in the series with its quirky characters so I was glad to see this series continue. A good mystery with a wonderful setting, I'm looking forward to enjoying more in the future.
Overall a nice book. Aunt Amelia is a dynamic character and the revelations of who some of the other characters really are was interesting. While the mystery was good and the setting idyllic, certain characters (for example Susannah) were painful.
I also found coming into this series a couple of books in that while things with Liz's ex and plastic surgery were regularly referenced, they weren't explained, leaving me as a new reader a little confused. I felt just a few extra lines of context would have deepened the meaning to a whole new level.
I love the beach setting and their hotel sounds like an amazing place with space for several interesting characters to come and go. This series has a lot of character and setting potential for many books.
Liz Holt thought moving from Manhattan to her family's Florida's Melbourne Beach resort would allow her to relax, she was dead wrong. In the midst of Sea Hotel and Emporiums first annual Pirates’ Weekend a body washes ashore. Add in a hurricaine and a murder and things are crazier than anything New York had to offer.
This was another good read in this new series and I am keen to continue with the series as Kathleen writes more.
