Synth’s have finally gotten fed up with how the humans are treating them as if they are nothing more than slaves. They are tired of doing their bidding and being their toys. They are finally starting to fight back. With the revelation just around the corner a virus has swept through the world of the synth’s. If a cure is not found soon then all synth’s will be dead. Is this what the government wants?

A human Jason Campbell has made it his life mission to help the synth’s as he believes that they deserve the same rights as humans. Jason and Silas a synth must find a way to stop this virus before it destroys all synth. If it mutates it could infect humans as well killing everyone in its tracks.

I fell in love with the world of The New Lyons and all the characters in the first book SINthetic. I would love to see The New Lyons Sequence on the big screen. I can’t wait to see what the author has in-store for us next.

I would recommend SINdrome to anyone whos loves science fiction.

I have not read the first two books in this series so that left me completely lost. Though the science doesn't seem very realistic, it was still a decent story.

SINdrome by J.T. Nicholas is the third installment of the science fiction fantasy The New Lyons Sequence series. In a futuristic world with advanced technology readers have been introduced to Detective Jason Campbell who has found himself in the middle of the synthetic war.

In the series opener Jason had come across the brutal murder of a young woman and found that she was a synthetic. Synthetic’s were treated as nothing more than property so Jason should have walked away from the scene but he couldn’t let such a gruesome death go. Investigating led Jason to find that synthetics had much more in common with humans than he’d imagined.

SINdrome has picked up shortly after the end of the second book with Jason still in prison. The synthetic movement however can’t afford to leave Jason behind prison walls because a new twist has come about where the synthetics are now becoming ill. Is it a master plan to wipe them out before the revolution can begin?

This series is definitely one that is best to read in order as the world was set in the first book and I think a reader jumping in would be lost on what is happening now. The first book was a bit of a scifi/fantasy mixed with a detective mystery but now the main character is a wanted man by siding with the synths and helping their rebellion. The action is fast paced with each read building upon the last leading up to this explosive installment.

SINdrome concludes the New Lyons trilogy. In it, we follow Jason Campbell and the crew as they dash to a secret research facility to find the cure for a virus that the evil Walton Biogenetics has released to wipe out the synths.

This book shares the strengths and weaknesses of the series, although I think that Mr. Nicholas has settled comfortably into his writing. I continue to have grave doubts about the biology. Details of the virus's location in the body and vaccine synthesis probably won't hinder your enjoyment of the book unless you are a cranky biologist.

I really wanted to love this book, but I just couldn’t really get into it. I read the first two books in the series as well, and even three books in I just wasn’t connecting at all with the main character. He lacked a distinct voice and did a lot of telling that I just wasn’t interested in.

The story-line was interesting enough, and I was attached enough to one of the side characters to really make me have trouble putting the book down, but otherwise, it just wasn’t for me. The last 40% of the book was pretty fast paced and I was drawn in, though there were definitely places where I started skimming. Usually the action sequences. They were just technical to the point where they got boring. There was one near the end that I thought was really well-done (I’m not gonna be too specific cause spoilers), and packed a lot of emotional punch. I would call that one the big moment where I was emotionally invested in the protagonist.

The world-building and set up of how the synth’s are so intrinsically tied into humanity’s infrastructure is really interesting, and I could definitely see a corporation doing the things described in this series. Some of the side characters were also excellently done - Silas and Tia especially (though there was one subplot that made me want to shake Tia but that would be spoilers).

Otherwise, the book was exactly what you’d expect. Lots of violence, people getting shot, life or death stakes in which the protagonist has to solve it by breaking into a mystery facility with little to no information. Someone suggested online that this series would make a great movie series, and I have to agree that they lend themselves well to that.

I’d recommend this book (but seriously read the first two first, otherwise you’re gonna be lost) to anyone who likes the noir/crime genre with a sprinkle of science fiction, and a dash of action/thriller.

I never put spoilers in my reviews but I am going to assume that if you made it this far you will know what I am talking about already. First I loved this series and thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me have an ARC for an honest review. That being said I have been waiting so long for this to come out especially after the way the second book ended. This whole series has been great as where some series seem to slow down or you can get a feeling of where it is just to much filler this is not one of them. All three books read fast and is so filled with action that before you know it you are at the end and are wondering if you missed some pages somewhere. This one picks right up were the second left off and as I said starts running and never stops until the last page, little pun there lol. It was a great read and I loved how the story flowed and at the end there were a couple surprises although before I read it I knew that they were going to be just because I feel like I knew the characters so well and the description of certain reactions gives it away just a sentence or two before it happens. I was sad to see this come to the end and I can't wait to see what JT writes next because if it is anything like this series I know I will love it.
