This was really good, I had a few giggles along the way, after reading the synopsis and starting the first few pages I was hooked.
I received a copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion

Alexander is put off by women of the ton believing they are more interested in status then love. Inis has runaway from an arranged marriage. This historical read is fun, fast-paced and I really liked the characters. The story held my interest throughout and the chemistry is steamy. A good read.

It's a delightful story. Mostly it's lighthearted and quite romantic, with few darker parts. I loved both Inis and Alexander, two people who are perfect for each other.

Inis left home because she wants to live her life in her own way and refuses to follow her uncle's ambition. Alexander is looking for amusement. Both will get more than they bargained for.

I'd definitely recommend it to all historical fiction fans.

First time in reading this author with always on the look out for someone that can truly take me back for a bit. In this one it will have it plus the humor to tickle my fancy too. Alexander thinks he is going to give a go at a game that turns around to bite him. His conceptions are interesting but not far from the truth but not all should be cast to that lot. Inis will show him a thing or two but they both will be playing for more than they realize which is the fun of this read. It will also have a air of mystery that will lend it more staying power for me also then some. Escaped for awhile with this delight cruising all the way to the end.

An unrepentant rake
Alexander Ashley is the brother of a Duke, and has always lived in his brother’s shadow. Even the woman he meant to marry preferred his brother. So Alex has been seeking his vengeance by seducing the wives of his brother’s friends and marking the interludes with a particular gift. Now, after acquiring the debt of a young lady groom in a card game, he has a new plan for his revenge: pass off a commoner as a lady and embarrass the Duke.
A lady in hiding
Inis Fitzgerald, who’s going by Inis O’Brien, has fled Ireland upon the news that her Uncle-the Duke of Kildare-has arranged a marriage for her. A marriage she unequivocally doesn’t want. She wants to train horses. And choose her own husband. So she flees to England, disguised as a boy. There she’s robbed, and then indentured to a Lord, and then lost in a card game to another. Then her disguise fails her. Found out, she faces the possibility of unemployment if she refuses Lord Ashley’s mad scheme, even if venturing out in society runs the risk of her being recognized and sent home.
An unconventional relationship
Alex and Inis for a working relationship and a friendship, of sorts. And Alex becomes increasingly protective of the girl in his care as she shows her prowess as a horse-whisperer, and stands up to him, and has a series of accidents that label her clumsy at best. All the while he instructs her in all the things she’ll need to know to present herself as a lady, and does his best to resist his increasing attraction for the unconventional orphan he’s taken on.
Once they give in to the spark between them, the only question is: will his past or hers catch up to them first? And can they survive the fallout of either?
A great read, with something of a Cinderella feel to it, though there’s no poor orphan girl without prospects, there is a deadline, a ball, and quite the transformation for both the MCs. Alex’s quest for vengeance led him to Inis, and her escape is entwined with his success. But his redemption lies beyond vengeance, if he can find the path before Inis leaves him behind.

Publisher's Description:

Alexander Ashley has decided women of the ton are more interested in status than love. His game is seduction and nothing more. His feelings regarding aristocratic ladies leads to an outlandish idea—prove a servant can be taught to be as ladylike as those born to it. And the beautiful Inis Fitzgerald might be just the woman for his plan.

Inis Fitzgerald escaped her home in Dublin to avoid an arranged marriage and is now working for a rakishly handsome lord who seems to enjoy bucking convention as much as she does. She plays along with his little game, pretending she knows nothing about being a lady. It doesn’t take long before Alex discovers Inis is every bit as much of an aristocrat as the women he’s sworn only to seduce and not love…

My Thoughts:
This is my second time reading a book by this author.I gave my first read by this author 4 of 5 stars and certainly hoped for a better book this time. I was disappointed!
This book started off as a very exciting, quick read but somewhere near the half way point it bogged down and I lost interest. I did finish it but it just wasn't quite the remarkable read I first thought it to be.
All of the attempts on our heroine's life became monotonous..
Who was trying to kill or at least run Inis off was not really a mystery. It was obvious early on of the jealousy felt by a spurned one time lover of Alexander, who paid her unfortunate servants to do her bidding.
I gave this book 3.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3.75 of 5.0 flames. When our hero and heroine finally have an intimate encounter it was a well written scene and one of the highlights in this otherwise somewhat unfortunate read.
I'm sorry to say that from there the book goes totally downhill in this reader's opinion.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this title from the publisher via NetGalley to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Alexander Ashley wants revenge against his brother who stole the woman he was interested in. One way is to bed the wives of all his brother's titled friends. Another is to embarrass his brother by passing off a servant as lady. The idea comes to him when he wins a new servant during a round of gambling.

Inis Fitzgerald dressed as a boy during her escape from her Uncle who was forcing her into a marriage she didn't want. When she finds work in Alex's home, it is quickly discovered that she is indeed a woman. Fortunately for Inis, a ruse concocted by Alex, can win her a voyage to America to forever thwart her Uncle from finding her.

There is more to the story, jealoysly, death threats and everything but the kitchen sink thrown in. It made for a story that went in so many different directions, I quickly lost interest in the romance altogether.

Both Alex and Inis are having the same problem. Finding love when all everyone cares about is their station in life. Inis doesn't want to get married to just anyone she wants to marry for love. Alex thought he was going to marry for love until his intended was really after his brother's title. So now Inis finds herself working for Alex. Now with her help, he hatches a plan to disgrace his brother. Only there are so many other background things happening it just gets better and better, I loved the humor, never knowing what was next or who all the players were. There are a lot of characters but there well developed and the story flows nicely. There will be more in this series and can't wait I really enjoyed this read.

This cover is absolutely beautiful!!!! I was immediately thrown into this amazing love story. Alex and Innis are just adorable. I was routing for them. I liked the drama the author brought into the story. What good roamnce story doesn't have some really juicy drama. This author does not disappoint. I loved how the author really made the story come to life and I felt like I was right there along side them!

Inis Fitzgerald has had it up to here with the men in her life. When her uncle announces she will wed the man he has chosen for her, Inis decides enough is enough. Inis disguises herself as a boy and boards a ship to England. Unfortunately, things don't go exactly as planned.

Alexander Ashley is bent on getting revenge on his brother for marrying the woman he loved. In order to do that, he begins seducing all of his brother's friend's wives. It's all just fun and games until Inis falls into his lap in a card game. Alex hires her on as a hostler for his stables, but it doesn't take long to discover she is a woman.

Suddenly, an idea strikes. Alex will train Inis to be a proper lady. What better way to get back at his brother to show him even someone low-born can be passed off as gentry. In exchange for Inis's cooperation, he will pay for her trip to America. What could possibly go wrong?

I give A RAKE'S REDEMPTION by author Cynthia Breeding a 4.5 out of 5 stars! It is full of adventure, intrigue and passion. Inis is the ideal heroine. She is stubborn, intelligent and quite a spitfire. Inis does what she must in order to survive, and knows how to roll with the punches. I really admired that quality in her. Alex on the other hand... boy is he in for a ride. He can't help but like Inis and it doesn't take long for his feelings to shift more toward attraction to Inis, but Alex is an honorable man. I loved the push and pull between Inis and Alex. I found myself laughing on more than one occasion at Inis's antics. A RAKE'S REDEMPTION a fun, fast-paced read. I am anxiously awaiting author Ms. Breeding's next novel. I hope it will be Caroline, Alex's friend's, story.

This was an extremely entertaining read. Alex was a charming rogue with an older brother he loved to annoy. Inis was a spirited lady was didn’t seem afraid of taking her chances to escape a future planned by her uncle. There were some interesting secondary characters in the friends of Alex. This was a light hearted read, good paced story which I thoroughly enjoyed. I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed Alex and Inis's story!

Inis has run away from home to avoid an unwanted marriage. She ends up in the employ of Alex working with his horses. Alex soon decides to play a trick on his brother for a long over do slight and is determined to turn Inis into a lady with the help of a friend. What he doesn't know is that Inis is already a lady and knows all the things that they are teaching her.

During the course of the lessons, Alex and Inis end up spending quite a bit of time together and the unlikely pair soon are falling for each other. But what happens when Alex learns the truth about Inis? He has a jaded view of society woman, so what will he do when he learns that the woman he is falling for is normally someone he would run away from?

This is my first book by Breeding, but I do believe that I will be back for more! I throughly enjoyed this read!

Inis Fitzgerald is the niece of a powerful Irish Duke. When the Duke tries to force her into an arranged marriage, she flees to London. Inis ends up posing as a man and working as a horse trainer at the London home of Lord Alexander Ashley. Alex discovers her deceit and agrees to pay for her to sail to America if she will go out in London society and help him with his plan to seek revenge on his brother.

This was my first Cynthia Breeding book. I really enjoyed it. It was well written, had a unique plot, and great character development. I would definitely recommend it for those that are fans of historical romance.

The first thing that catches your eye about this book is the stunning cover. Alex and Inis make a beautiful couple. They are both fiery and passionate people. I love the range of characters that the author has in the story especially because they will make for great future books. A blazingly good love story with no lull in the action to give the reader time to be bored.

An enjoyable and at times amusing historical romance. A light read which includes all the requirements of a book of this genre. Recommend it.

I received an ARC of this book to read from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. A Rake’s Redemption by Cynthia Breeding is described as a Rake Trilogy and the hero has 2 rakish friends who are single so I am guessing this is the first book in the trilogy as the authors website has not been updated to include this book. Alexander Ashley is a bit of an ass who fancies he is getting revenge on his brother for marrying the girl he wanted to marry by sleeping with the wives of his brothers friends and showing them what it’s like to sleep with a “real” man, but only once. He hasn’t yet figured out that he was the lucky one when his brother stole the girl because she’s pretty much a manipulative bitch. Lady Inis Fitzgerald who ran away from home in Ireland to escape an unwanted arranged marriage has after a series of small disasters ended up in indentured servitude to Alex as a hostler for his horses. A nasty villainess and a hero who now fancies himself Pygmalion and a few other twists and turns make for an interesting tale. I really enjoyed this book & loved Alex & Inis they were attracted to each other from their first meeting but Alex didn’t believe in seducing his servants. The story flowed very well & there was also someone intent on having Alex to herself, add two other rakes & a scorned girlfriend plus romance & it was set to be a five star read right up to the last five percent when the ending was rushed & things resolved too quickly. However I look forward to reading more from the author as secondary characters were left begging for their stories.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Inis escapes from her uncle after learning of an arranged marriage that has been made for her and arrives in London. After unexpected events happen, she finds herself employed as a horse trainer for Alex. Later Alex has a plan to teach Inis to act the part of a lady to get revenge on his brother for marrying Amelia, the woman he wanted to marry. Unexpected events happen and Alex learns Inis is not who she claims to be and her uncle comes to get her. The book is full of unexpected events that add to the story but in the end there is a HEA. The book is a good read and I would recommend it.

A Rake’s Redemption is a Regency romance that showed promise and started off strong. Unfortunately, the second half undoes all the work of the first.

The story follows Inis Fitzgerald,a talented and stubborn young woman, who escapes to London to avoid being forced into an arranged marriage she doesn’t want. She ends up in the employment of Alexander Ashley as his groom, hiding her true identity. Alexander, notorious rake, see an opportunity to humiliate his priggish ducal brother by using Inis. His plan? Teach Inis how to be a true lady then parading her in front of his brother. With the help of his close friend Caroline, he sets out educating Inis. But someone wants her out the way and isn’t beyond murdering her to do that.

The plot is unoriginal at best, having been done so many times before that the reader instinctively knows what’s coming. This could have been saved by engaging characters, but, while initially likable, they quickly lose their appear and end feeling more like caricatures by the end. It doesn’t take much for Alex to find out who is attempting to murder Inis, but the antagonist is hardly intelligent and quite bad at covering their tracks. That aspect of the plot is never truly resolved as the killer flees, never to be heard from, or dealt with, again.

The other conflict involves Inis hiding her identity. Initially, it is easy for her, but once she attends the ball she is easily recognized. This causes her uncle to immediately gather her and drag her home. While initially angry, Alex decides he loves her and follows.

Beyond a tedious, predictable plotline, the leads seem to lack intelligence and common sense, rarely thinking about their actions before diving in head first. Their first sexual encounter is fairly steamy, there is little build up to it. While the reader can clearly see it is coming due to the predictable of the plot, there is no sexual development between the characters before the scene happens.

The icing on the cake was the ending. It almost felt as if the author reached her word count and felt she to wrap things up quickly. There is so much build up to everything for the reader to just be let down. The resolution felt lackluster and too easily accomplished and the epilogue feels even worse. It’s happily ever after consisted of more telling rather than showing that it leaves the reader empty and frustrated.
