I don't read a lot of health and beauty based books, so for me, this book was a nice change of pace, The author seems very passionate and knowledgeable about how to help women age with grace, care and self-love.
I loved learning about how age and the environment affect our hair and skin and how we can take steps to improve their condition and appearance. There were suggestions that were new to me and I will try them int he upcoming months.
Some of the information is alarming, particularly the various chemicals in our products. It makes me think twice about various exposure to chemicals and how to better avoid some of these in the future.
While I am always skeptical about believing everything I read, I think there is a good deal to consider for many women as they delve into this book.
I am always curious to read this type of book, especially if the author is someone that is struggling with a chronic illness of any kind, in part because i am all for "supporting another chronic sufferer"and also because i do honestly think that most chronic ill people can give the best tips and ideas in regards of health issues, because we lived them and know what works for us and can work for other people because of that!
So i was interested in this book more of the health tips not so much for the "Beauty" parts.
Sadly i just found that this book felt like a strange mixture of a lot of information, that didn't go over the very basics.
It certainly offers tips and ideas of what to try if you have some specific issues.
BUT at the same time most of those tips are basically logic, typical health tips (eat healthy, good food, not the cheapest of the cheap, make sure that the water you drink is good water not just any old tap water that might have a huge number of different things added to them that could cause health issues...) so if you are someone that already knows a lot of the basics?
This book will not offer you anything or very, very little new information.
on top of that this book is not at all a book but completely a guide, what i mean with that is that an issue is named and than some possible solutions are listed, next issue and ideas for solutions listed... you guys get what i am saying.
Again not something bad, but more of a... blog post kind of thing and not really something i need in book format?
Thats a personal thing, and some people love this type of "self help book". For me personally it doesn't really work.
Overall i think its a good book if you are new to health struggles, if you don't know how to start with an actual health journey or if you just don't know where to start.
If you already know a little or already have your own sources that you trust?
Sorry this book is unnecessary.
Decide for yourself if this is something that you need or not.
Well, after reading The Ageless Beauty Grail by Sandra Bloom, I really was not sure what to think. I thought this was a book about holistic therapy for everyday ailments. Not even close. It really is just a lot of this doctor said this and that doctor said that. There were a few things that seemed like something that I would try but not many. I do not even understand how the writer can eat or sleep after all she has been through. I would say this is for the more extreme issues one might have and not your everyday problems. Bone broth was about the only thing I had heard of and was willing to try because I have heard of it and am familiar with the effects of it.
Overall, I certainly would not recommend this book to just anyone. It is hard to just go by what someone says instead of by the actual research.
I applaud the author for getting better and writing a book about it but I think it should have been written differently.
I give this 2 out of 5 stars
Thank you to netgalley as well as the author/publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
Filled with information and recommendations. At times repetitive, but illustrates how interconnected the body systems and treatments are.
Easy to read, insightful, and well written. It was a quick read, nothing groundbreaking, but still
Worth the read. Good info all in one place! Thoroughly enjoyed this read.
This book was. Rey thorough. A lot of the eating thoughts that I try to prescribe to were covered to some degree. There were a lot of conditions covered in great detail that I wasn't interested in however, I am sure they were very helpful to other readers.
This book is for those women who are facing hair-loss or other unexplained (by their doctor) symptoms of what one might think is simply aging. This is for that woman with a lot of symptoms that she doesn't understand and who is willing to look into holistic treatments. This ideal reader is also in want of one introductory resource to explain to her in a somewhat narrative way the basics of what goes on in one's body and how changes in diet and environment can help.
The book was readable and pretty comprehensive. It didn't break ground, but if someone has never looked into holistic or food-based, anti-toxin lifestyle changes, this would be a good one to choose.
There is some good information contained within the pages of this book however, some of it is pretty extreme and most likely not what your average person is going to attempt. Coffee enemas and bee sting therapy? I don't think so.
I felt her pain at the beginning and cheered her on as she got more and more proactive. Thank you Sandra Brown for your story, and your fight to feel better once again. Lots of treatments, suggestions, and a book filled with great information. I’m a vegan, so some suggestions didn’t apply. Nevertheless, there is a wealth of great information in this book...
Natural beauty begins from within, and in order to be your best self, one must evaluate nutrition, diet and lifestyle. Sandra Bloom’s book, The Ageless Beauty Grail, is chocked full of advice on how to use toxin-free, natural remedies to overcome health issues. She tackles a wide array of topics like hair loss, inflammation, leaky gut syndrome, and many, many more. A very useful book for anyone looking to implement a change and to improve his or her life. Our life is filled with chemicals--in the air we breathe, the products we use and food we eat--and Bloom helps readers find alternate, more natural ways to treat and heal their bodies.
I am a middle of the road person when it comes to my health, well-being and fitness. I prefer sensible, science-based mainstream recommendations. But I am also open to new ideas. I chose to read The Ageless Beauty Grail by Sandra Bloom because it looked like a user-friendly guide to good health. And like Author Bloom states in her book, we should take charge of our health and destiny.
I was disappointed. The book presents many topics, that from hair care to leaky gut. The author is not a doctor or a health professional, so reader beware. She does cite and reference many published health practitioners. This book is better suited as a quick introduction or reference.
The author says she has struggled with Chronic Fatigue, adrenal and thyroid issues, Leaky Gut, auto-immune disorders, inflammatory illnesses, and Lyme Disease, Borreliosis, Epstein-Barr. Among other things she recommends coffee enemas, ozone therapy and the Paleo Diet.
I did learn about bone broth, which seems like a healthy and nutritious addition to my diet.
I’m sure the author is a caring person and I wish her well on her health journey.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC.
