'Incidentals Vol. 2: Balance of Power' with story by Joe Casey and art by Will Rosado is a graphic novel in the series about 'The Event,' a cosmic event that granted certain people strange powers.
'The Event' granted random powers. Some people adapted better than others. Bo Vincent Chen sees a bigger event heading to Earth and wants to stop it. He tries to bring together a team of powered folks, but that is harder than he imagines.
I did like this volume better and it seems to be making more sense, but reading these, at times, is like deciphering some weird language. The art is passable, but the story just isn't calling out to me at this point.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Oni Press, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.
Whatever the overarching 'Incidentals' plot is leading to, it needs to happen soon. Again, I think this was my first exposure to this Catalyst Prime title, so the pacing and the unexplained weirdness threw me for a loop.
Much better than the first volume. The book appears to have a bit of direction finally, although there are still some moments that leave you screaming WTF? With Chen's visions of aliens, I couldn't tell what was going on. There are still way too many characters in the book and they all look alike. I was constantly struggling to tell who's who. The book could definitely use some recaps to parse through some of Joe Casey's indecipherable writing.
