Ivan and Syn are both trying to forget their past but enemies won't let them. The chemistry between these two was scorching and intense. Another good read for the second book in the series.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.

Yet another scorching thriller from Lora Leigh! Would you be able to run from your past if it meant danger for someone else? This was a thrilling ride that I didn't want to end!

This was much more thrill and suspense oriented than I anticipated. From the very beginning it was one wild race for safety after another as Journey tries to run from her past and the dangers that still threaten her present. When Ivan steps in, she knows that he will kill her once he learns who she really is but perhaps making a deal with the devil could save her in the end, even if she doesn’t believe in fairy tales.

I enjoyed this story despite not remembering the details of the previous one. Initially, it was a bit complicated to follow and I was tempted to set it aside. However, I pushed through and I’m so glad that I did. While Journey was trying to find her way in a world that she had never felt safe in, it was Ivan’s determination to give her a soft place to land that really snagged my heart. He was all alpha, all protective, and completely possessive of her. When they come to an understanding, I could see the writing on the wall even if Journey could not and I was even further gone for this hero.

This is a fast paced read with plenty of hot steam and even more characters. I never knew which direction it was going to go and in the end was taken completely by surprise. If you enjoy a thrilling ride of suspense and danger, death hovering at the doorway at any given time and uncertainty over who to trust even as two people fall in love amidst the chaos, this is definitely a read you will want to check out.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin's Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

At first when I entered this one and the blunt action started I was not too sure. Syn captures your attention but then right away you are blown away by the brutalness. When Ivan and her cross paths again then you become a goner because you have to see where this goes. The skill in this that has woven around you and tied you up at times you are given some excellent reading. Power is displayed with you sucking it up too. The heat is searing but this is one that you will finish just to see if nothing else.

Dagger’ Edge is the second book in Lora Leigh’s new Brute Force Series. This series is action packed, suspenseful, erotic and includes an interesting mix of alpha military romance and organized crime. The Brute Force series has links to the storylines and characters in her Elite Ops series.

When I originally requested this book for review, I did not realize it was the second in the series. I am usually reluctant to read series’ out of order, but I’m glad I did, it was a phenomenal book. This book can be read as a standalone, but when read in order, a greater appreciation for the series is achieved.

Ivan Resnova and Crimsyn Delaney have a past. He was the old man she had a crush on and business rival and enemy of her father. She was the younger woman whose beauty and innocence always drew his attention. After her world is torn apart, Syn goes into hiding until she meets Ivan again. Their attraction is as strong as ever, but this time Ivan will do everything in his power to protect what is his. Will Ivan be able to keep Syn safe from the monsters in her past, or will his enemies end their relationship before it even starts? This knuckle biting story will keep you on your toes.

Lora Leigh has done it again. Another great book for another great series. I have read and loved every book from Leigh’s book series. I love that this book has links to the Elite Ops world and allows readers to see several of the much love characters from her previous books.

I loved that all of Lora Leigh’s characters have strong personalities, especially the women. I LOVE that they give as good as they get. Her stories are about overcoming life’s worst experiences and the everyday struggle to make a better life. I love that both the hero and heroine have worked hard to overcome their own struggle, but I especially love that together they become something so much stronger. I hope the next book in the series is Beau’s story.

I received an ebook copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

I'm new to this series, but I am a big fan of the author's previous books, so I was excited to read this story.

Journey Taite is an isolated pawn that is being used by her family, through an arranged marriage, to keep their power and money intact. On the run from this fate, she is eventually forced to accept help from her family's greatest enemy (and her secret crush), Ivan Resnova. From this point on there is tons of suspense, angst, and plenty of hotness.

I love the way these characters were written. Journey is very fragile and hides her weakness behind a cloak of false bravado. Ivan is a strong older man that is surprised that he can easily be felled by love. I also really enjoyed the fast pace way the story developed. Never a dull moment in this book!

After meeting Journey (aka Syn) in book one, I was definitely interested in the intense chemistry brewing between her and Ivan. I loved that this opens up almost immediately after the events of Collision Point and that we get such a potent history that connects the MCs on a level deeper then just the physical.

Their bonkers courtship worked for me and I found myself really enjoying Ivan and Journey's love story. It was sexy and angsty and the drama kept me rooted to my kindle. Not to mention the yummy tension that caused sparks every time they were together :)

It really helped that we get both MCs' POVs because I loved knowing that although Journey was torn about their arrangement (since she asked for an illusion but was in fact in love with him) that Ivan knew it wasn't a game, he really was treating her like the love of his life. It went a long way, knowing that Ivan never planned to let Journey go. He was my favorite type of Hero, protective, caring and wickedly alpha.

Would I recommend?
If the May/December trope is your drug of choice, you'll enjoy this one. I really liked Journey and Ivan. The chemistry between them is undeniable and has the best kind of tension simmering between them 24/7

3.5 Stars

A hot crime action story, and when i say hot i mean sexy - not all heroes are good guys some come from the wrong family and wrong line of work. Danger is only a page turn away at times in this crime romance story, about falling for the wrong man and trying to protect those you feel deeply for from the murky past you lived in. A good story i did enjoy it i just felt i was wanting a little bit of something more to make it 4 stars, but even now after thinking back n the story i cannot decide what that extra bit more is. Certainly will read book one in my own time and for fans of the author i think they will really enjoy this

Syn has re-invented herself more times than she can count. But it is necessary I order to survive. However when she puts herself too close to her past will her luck run out?
Dagger’s Edge is second in Lora Leigh’s Brute Force series. Syn is a fighter. She has no choice. She has never had love nor loyalty. She doesn’t expect to live but she will continue fighting until the end. Ivan has always been fascinated by Syn. Now that she is back in his life will he focus only on vengeance? I love the chemistry between Syn and Ivan. Ivan never expected Syn to be nothing more than a pawn until she isn’t. I love that Ms. Leigh made that struggle so apparent throughout this story. You could see that Syn only wanted to protect Ivan while he wanted something else entirely…or did he? Seeing Ivan use Syn’s body and her emotions against her was interesting since his body betrayed him as well. I love the layers Ms. Leigh built. Not only within the story but also within her characters. I never quite knew what to expect. Ms. Leigh gave us unexpected twists and turns even as Ivan fought to protect Syn. I thoroughly enjoyed the progression of this tale by Ms. Leigh. And I cannot wait to see where she will take us next in this world she has created.

Ivan and Journey's story was amazing. It grabs you from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down until I finished it. Full of action and suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Full of intense action and fast-paced suspense, this second in the series follows the first in a story with twists and intrigue. The characters are interesting and maybe not all what they seem. The sex is steamy, the romance hot.

On the edge of your seat kind of book!!!! Ivan has always noticed Journey even when he knew he shouldn't. When she needed him most, he shows up but then they lost touch. He did everything he could do to find her but it was like she fell off the face of the earth.

Fast forward 4 years and there she is. He's finally found her or has she found him? Makes no difference to him, he wants her and will do whatever it takes to have her and keep her. She has other ideas.

Will they be able to stay ahead of their enemies? Will they both get what they want or will one be left wanting more than they get?

I can't even describe how hot this book is!!! Smoking, fiery, etc...doesn't do it justice.

I will say I was confused in a few places but it wasn't enough to take away too much from the story in my mind.

Dagger's Edge delivers a story full of equal parts steam and dangerous suspense.

Crimsyn has done what she could to leave her past behind her, to attempt to start over new for herself and find some measure of a life worth living. But as the saying goes - you can't run away from your past and secrets always have a way of coming out. With danger surrounding her and the ever looming questions of who and why, Crimsyn has to turn to the one person she should be avoiding, and doing so just might change her life in more ways than one.

Ivan knows all about wanting to escape your past - he's been trying to do it himself for years. Suffering many losses in that time, Ivan knows a lot of pain and where to place the blame. But there's something about Syn that calls to him on every level, something that ignites in him the need to protect her, to care for her, to show her love. Ivan knows who she is and what she is to him - he knows her secrets even as she hasn't shared them and he knows the danger she faces.

The chemistry between these two burns bright even as they fight against each other. With looming issues, there's every reason these two should NOT be able to stand each other and yet - there's so much more between them. As danger swirls and the suspense grows daily about who wants Crimsyn and why, the connection between them grows into something more. Though neither wants to admit to their real feelings at first, they are plain to see with each new chapter.

I was intrigued from the first page, curious to know all the answers to my questions and also wondering how things would work out between these two. Leigh ramps up the suspense throughout the story, making me question even more what I think I know and what I believe is coming. With characters I can't help but wonder what to make of; are they good, bad, or somewhere in between? And as I read the last pages, I was left with a burning desire for more.

This is the second book in the Brute Force series. I really enjoyed the book, it is a romantic suspense. It has a lot of twist and turns in the plot that kept me on my toes. The characters are well developed and the pace was excellent. It is an unlikely love story between two people who feel love is not in their future and it was great to see them get their happy ending. I read the first book in the series, but I feel this could be read as a stand alone.

Syn Delaney has a dangerous secret that has kept her on the run looking over her shoulder for a long time. Saving and befriending the daughter of the powerful Ivan Resnova is dangerous enough for Syn and her secret, but coming to care and even love him could kill her. Ivan has tried to forget about Syn but when she calls for his help, he is helpless to do anything but go to her aid. This book was awesome! It was dark, sexy and riveting, I have loved every book Lora Leigh has written and this was no exception. The Brute Force series should be an auto-buy for everyone.

Intriguing!

A unique tale of overcoming and finding love against all odds (literally!). Ivan and Journey are unstoppable together and deserve all the happiness life can afford them.

I always know what to expect with a Lora Leigh book and that's why she's one of my go-to authors for erotic suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed Ivan and Syn's story.

Ivan Resnova was a powerful crime boss who wants to escape his past. but fears that the woman that's always on his mind is in danger because of him.
Syn Delaney thought she could resume her normal life but it is anything but normal She is thrown back into Ivan’s world. An attempt is made on her life, and she needs him to keep her safe.
I've read several of Ms Leigh's books over the years and enjoyed them. That said, I found this one hard to get into and struggled to finish it. The premise of Ivan as the father of Syn's friend was hard to believe.
