Donna Grant enthralls with the fourteenth paranormal Dark Kings story in which Dragon King Roman helps his fellow dragon king V search for his sword. Sabina, a Romany, has been living isolated with her brother Camlo who is mentally challenged but has an affinity for animals. Sabina knows a family Romany legend which tells how the tribe put a powerful dragon to sleep and stole his sword. When Roman and Sabina meet in the Carpathian mountains, the legend of the sword starts to unwind and pull dragons and Romany together. Follow their growing relationship and the increasingly entangled destiny of the dragon kings. Just finished with the enmity between the dragon kings and one of their own, Ulrik, they now discover there are other sinister players in the dragon destiny. Sexy and energetic scenarios weave their way through this story. Enjoy.

I don’t know why I keep jumping in and out of this series without reading straight through, but each time I come back to the series, I end up loving these books. Even with my large time jumps and missing information/back story, I still am completely sucked in by these engaging characters and sizzling chemistry.

As each of these books centers around a Dragon King finding his true mate, this one started with V (who I thought was going to be the star), but it ended up with Roman. Roman can hear metals in the ground, so he is the obvious choice for a helper finding the lost sword, right? While V is a little off his rocker due to his constant sleep and inability to find what was stolen from him, Roman is steadfast and just as determined not to see his fellow Dragon King suffer any more. While searching the Carpathian Mountains (yes, V is *that* V as in Vlad), they stumble upon a Romanian girl living alone with her brother. Normal, right? Except that the brother can talk to animals and the girl identifies as a gypsy. Oh, and when V touches the brother, he suddenly gets some of his missing memories back.

Of course, there wouldn’t be a Dragon Kings story without romance, and this one pairs the very independent Sabina with the self-sacrificing Roman. While both initially try to resist the pull, some very dangerous adventures and a true connection between these two end up pushing them into instant commitment. The sizzle is definitely there in more ways than one (get it? Dragons breathe fire…). As always, there are oodles of side stories that I’m sure will materialize fully in books to come, but it was a good way to keep things moving and keep us hooked.

Oh gosh this world! It just gets more intricate and bigger and so many things are happening...

Roman and V set out for Romania to look for V's sword. And they come across Sabina and her brother Camlo, direct descendants of the Rom or the original gypsies. And it explains why they roam. Sabina and Camlo join them in their quest. Because Camlo is special, and Sabina had no real idea how special he was and how instrumental he is. She is too, much more than a mate for Roman.

I really enjoyed this book! I love how compatible Sabina and Roman are, and how special Camlo is. I hope he plays a bigger role in this world.

Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book! I like it a lot!

Another great book from the series. A book full of mystery, unexpected events and searching for answers. Roman is helping V with finding his sword and their journey is leading them to Sabina and her brother who have a special sight. Sabina's grandmother had warned her about dragons but her gut and her brother action make her decide to help V and Roman. A journey full of unknown, finding of the past, searching for an answer, finding love and passion. Really great interesting read. Both Sabina and Roman likable characters who make reading even more interesting.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

I did not realize this was book 10 in a series. I enjoyed it, but feel like I would have liked it more had I known all the references to previous characters and plot lines.

Dragonfire is book #14 in ‘A Dark Kings Novel’ series by Donna Grant. It took a little getting used to the accent written in the story but once you get the hang of it it brings the story to life and I can’t seem to put it down. I want to know what happens next! I recommend starting with book one of course, this will allow you to get the main characters back stories. However, with skipping a few books into the series you still get the gist of what has been going on and where the story is heading for future books.

I give this book a 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed getting to know Sabine (Romani Gypsy), Camlo (her half brother), and of course Roman (Dragon King).

Donna Grant’s “Dark Kings” series has become one of my all time favourite paranormal romance series. Seriously, who doesn’t love a dragon shifter with a brogue? It just can’t get better than this!! Or maybe it can...

“Dragonfire” is the next instalment in this breathtaking series and we not only get to catch up with our favourite light fae, Rhi, but we also get to meet the woman who will steal Roman’s heart, Sabina. A beautiful gypsy who lives in the mountains of Romania with her mentally challenged brother, she has always tried to steer clear of the sight that was passed down to her by her ancestors. That and the legend of the dragon Vlad and his stolen sword. So when two men who are not only incredibly breathtaking but also seem to possess a certain magic about them wonder into their territory, Sabina is wary. But it seems that her brother knows who they are and trusts them. Of course, it takes a bit more than blind trust to believe in Dragons and Dragon Kings and Sabina soon finds herself and her brother in Iceland.

Roman is on a mission to find V’s sword and bring back the dragons. What he didn’t expect was to stumble upon a mesmerising gypsy who not only manages to steal his heart, but who also has a deep connection to the dragons.

Another winner by Grant! Can’t wait to find out who Rhi’s dragon king is - although I have a guess, I can’t wait to read their whole story. Hope that we will get to find out soon!! Absolutely love this series!

While I did enjoy Roman's story, I was not in love with it as much as I have been with the other stories. There was just something lacking between both Roman and Sabina.

Loved the chemistry between Roman and Sabine. The character interaction is what makes this a well written great story.

Sabina is a Gypsy living with her brother near the Carpathian Mountains. When she was a child, her grandmother told her a story and made her promise to remember it. The story was about a kind Dragon King who’s sword was stolen by her ancestors. Because of that theft, her family was forced to leave their homeland and becoming Romani. She thought it was a legend until she met Roman and Vlad. Roman is helping his friend V find his stolen sword. Traveling to the Carpathian Mountains, they stumble upon Sabina and her brother Camlo. With urging from her brother, Sabina realizes that she needs to help the Kings find V’s sword. Their journey takes them to a mountain in Iceland where V’s sword might be. But there are wrenches thrown into their plans. A mysterious alliance between Druids and Fae threaten their quest. Can Sabina and Roman find the sword? Will they give into their attraction to each other? Or will everything fail?

I was pretty excited to read Dragonfire. I had read and reviewed Heat and enjoyed it. So I figured that I would like this book also. And I did. What I didn’t know was that Donna Grant is writing other series at the same time she is writing the Dark Kings series. I figured it out when Eoghan and Thea from Dark Alpha’s Hunger were mentioned a few times in this book. As was the Light Elf Queen and the new Dark Elf King. Along with Rhi, Con, Ulrik, and Mikkel. Then a lightbulb went off over my head and I went “No, freaking way“. I am in awe that someone can do that. I have issues with keeping one thing straight in my head. So forget many series of books with many plotlines and characters.

I liked Sabina and Roman together. I will admit that at the beginning of the book, I was a little confused at who Sabina was supposed to be with. And yes, I didn’t read the blurb…lol. I thought it was going to be V for some reason. Because the book started off with the story that Sabina’s grandmother told about him. But once Roman and Sabina met, the sexual attraction and chemistry came off the pages. There was one point when they were in the caves, where I was chanting in my head “Kiss the girl. Kiss the girl” (and no, I didn’t sound like Sebastian from The Little Mermaid when I was saying it to myself).

When they finally did have sex, it was amazing. I will never look at hot springs in the same way again. What I liked, even more, was that the author didn’t let the sexual tension down. She kept it up. Which meant that the other sex scenes were amazing.

I also liked Sabina and Roman as people. They both had gone through some tough times. Sabina’s was losing her mother and stepfather and taking care of Camlo. She had to be strong and wary. Because of Camlo’s disability, she always needed to be on the defensive. Seeing her open up and trust Roman and V was powerful. Roman’s tough times were when he became Dragon King. When he told the story about how he became Dragon King and who he had to defeat, my heart broke for him. But, what made me like him, was his gentleness with Camlo.

I do wish that the author got more into Camlo and Sabina’s abilities. Sabina had the Sight. But what did that consist of? What could she see (other than people being dishonest)? I know that it came into play when she touched V in the cave but still, I would have loved a better explanation. Also, I would have loved a better explanation of Camlo’s abilities. I was also frustrated when it came to getting information out of him. I know that he had the mind of a child but man, that whole scene dragged out when Roman and Sabina were deep in the caverns. What other abilities did he have (other than talking to animals and the Sight)?

The plotline involving V and his sword was amazingly written. The author did a great job at keeping me guessing about where the sword was. Also the neat twist she put in that storyline, I liked. I wasn’t expecting it. But it did explain a whole bunch.

I also liked the storyline with Sabina and Roman’s journey to get the sword. Dangerous doesn’t even begin to describe it. And with the Others magic making it even more dangerous, my heart was in my throat during the entire journey. The end of that storyline had me in tears. But I forgot one thing. Only another Dragon King can kill a Dragon King.

The secondary storylines were good but man, they were vague. Take Con losing the weapon. That was a first for me. What was the weapon? It was something that Con and the other Dragon Kings feared. Because the “Oh Crap” factor went up when V and Roman got the message. The storyline with the Others infuriated me. Why were they doing what they did and how did they know what was going on it the future. Also, the book that Usaeil found in the hidden library. What is with that? And the very last chapter. I wanted to scream with frustration about that.

Like I mentioned above, I wanted to scream at the end of Dragonfire. But, I did like how the author ended or didn’t end the storylines. She ended Roman and Sabina’s happily and gave a hint about who her next book might be about. Which I can’t wait to read!!

I gave Dragonfire a 4-star rating. This was a well written 14th book in the Dark Kings series. I connected with the characters. The plotlines were well written with no lag or dropped storylines. I did wish that more explanation was given about Camlo and Sabina’s powers. And the end frustrated me. I enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to read book 15.

I would give Dragonfire an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is language. There is violence. There are no triggers. I would suggest that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread Dragonfire. I would also recommend this book to family and friends.

I would like to thank St. Martin’s Griffin, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Dragonfire.

All opinions stated in this review of Dragonfire are mine.

I had a hard time with this book it lagged for me and I did not really enjoy it. Net galley states I have to have 100 words but I don't think there are one hundred words for me to come up with to review it

I wasn't sure what to think about this one at first. Roman seemed to be unsure about his path and he definitely gave a vibe that he would put walls between himself and Sabina. I loved Sabina from the very beginning. She put her life and future on hold for her brother and his welfare. The journey they all are on was very confusing at times but I had to keep going to see if they could complete the challenges, even though I knew the end reward would not be what they expected. I loved the relationship that developed between Roman and Sabina and can't wait to see what the future will hold for them.

I totally enjoy each line of her writing. I love the characters, the plots the many different levels, the romance, the passion. The suspense and just everything about them! I will say this is a series that is definitely a keeper and one to enjoy over and over again.

Wow! So much happened in this book and it felt like the storyline is moving forward. I hope this series continues to move a bit faster, like this one.
Roman and Sabina's chemistry was undeniable, instantly! I adored Sabina's brother and that this whole story included him. It was refreshing! Also getting a glimpse into V's story was amazing. I loved all of the twists and turns, as well as all the new and old characters that played a part of Dragonfire. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!!

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.

Oh how I love this series by Donna Grant.  Dragons have always been mysterious. I loved watching a cartoon about one as a child. So it doesn't surprise me that I would enjoy reading about them now, as an adult.

This particular edition focuses on Roman and Sabina.  Sabina is a Seer, if you will.  Her family roam Europe as Gypsy's because staying in one place is too dangerous for them. The beginning of the novel has Sabina's Gran telling her about dragons and her place to protect a secret.

The dragons are looking for a sword that was stolen from one (Vlad) of the two many eons ago.  Roman is a friend of Vlad's and is helping him find the sword. His attraction to Sabina is noted right away. Though he tries to ignore it since that isn't what he's on a mission to find.

This story is pretty bumpy in it's findings.  There's a lot going on with the dragons and the involvement of Sabina and her family. The author doesn't disappoint in her writing and I loved how she incorporated the other paranormal's into the story to help figure out what's happening to the dragons and why. It's one of the many reasons I enjoy reading this series.  I hope you do too!

Dragonfire by Donna Grant
Dark Kings #14

The first book I read in this paranormal fantasy world was in the Reapers series and I have managed to read all of them except the second. I came into the Dark Kings series on book 10 and missed the book that preceded this one. I have to say that though it was an exciting action-packed thrilling read I did have times I got bogged down in wondering who some of the characters were from what seems to be a “world” I am not totally conversant with. That said, I wouldn’t mind one day starting at the beginning and reading through the books in order.

In this book we hear of many characters in the realm(s) but the main focus is on finding dragon kind Vlad’s sword. Roman, another dragon king, is going along with him to search for the sword that has been missing for uncountable years and is so necessary to the dragons.

While in Romania they come across Sabina and her brother who are much needed on their sword-quest. They travel, encounter magic, have problems to overcome and eventually manage to accomplish what they set out to do…although at the end of the book there are still many loose threads to be dealt with before the series can be completed.

For some reason this book did not hold my attention like some in the past have. I am not sure why but think it has to do with not having read enough in this specific sub-series to keep all the characters from all the various groups 100% straight.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I like to read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

3-4 Stars

Dragonfire was very enjoyable. Plus that cover is just beyond amazing.

Sabina has known about the Dragon Kings since she was a younger girl traveling with her family. When she heard the legend she never expected to meet a Dragon King. Then while taking care of her brother two show up at her door. When they tell her who they are she knows that she must do everything in her power to help them.

Roman's been alive a long time. After the latest attack on the other dragons, Roman knows how important it is to find his friend Vlad's sword. He didn't expect all the problems that would come up with finding the sword, or Sabina.

I did enjoy this story. I enjoyed the mystery around the story. I did find some of the constant mystery a little tiresome since there weren't any answers to be had.

Dragon Kings V and Roman are on a quest to find V's stolen sword. Due to V's amnesia of the incident, they travel to V's territory hoping to find clues when they arrive. The duo meets Camlo and Sabina while on their search. V and Roman discover that the brother and sister, who are descendants of the clan V protected, have information relating to V's curse and his lost weapon. V and Camlo work together to uncover V's memories, while Roman and Sabina, the couple of the story, descend inside a mountain for V's sword.

The path to retrieve the Dragon King sword was tense, and fast paced. At the climax of the story, I was bouncing in my seat. Roman's clever Dragon power lends to his artistic tendencies. Sabina's creativity, although different in expression than Roman's, gives the couple a common interest. Roman's dominance induces fantastic desire during their intimacies. The spark between the pair is potent, which is a common thing with Donna Grant novels.

I make it no secret that I am a huge fan of the Dark World series. The subplots continue to grab my attention. At this point, the recurring characters are as much of a focus for me as the main couples are. Dragonfire is the first novel since Ulrik's redemption. He played a minor, but crucial, part here. I believe his presence will be game-changing, especially for Con. I see Con reaching his breaking point, and that could be a very good, or a very bad thing.

Every Dark King book is a comfort, and a curse, all rolled into one. There is an overwhelming sense that resolution is just around the corner, and I am eager for the good versus evil showdown. But at the same time, I do not want them to end. Dragonfire by Donna Grant was given to me by Saint Martin's Press, through NetGalley, for my honest opinion.

Sabina and Camlo were interesting, well-formed characters. Roman seemed somewhat generic, and his love story with Sabina was about as expected. I'm still not gripped by the whole light fae/dark fae over-arching series plotlines.

This story transports you to a different time and realm. Sabina and Roman are a formidable pair when they pit their minds to it.
