Fantastic! A Hallmark holiday movie in a book. Angela Carson has been working hard to keep her family's Christmas shop up and running but when a big box Christmas store opens in town it's the final blow and she's afraid the end is near. To add insult to injury Geoff Paisley is the most arrogant, infuriating and, darn it, attractive man she's ever met. He's also the head of the big box monster. Now not only does she have to come to terms with the fact that she'll need to close her beloved store but she has to see Geoff all over town.
Don't miss this wonderfully written, sweet holiday read. I highly recommend it.
I liked this sweet story. Angela is facing the closing of her business. It has been in her family for 3 generations and she feels like she is letting her grandmother down because she has to close it. This terrible store has opened in town and that is who she will blame. She spies a good looking man in the coffee house but then later discovers that he is the owner of that terrible store. The cause of all of her problems. I was beginning to wonder if Angela and Geoff would ever get past the animosity to realize they really liked each other. Geoff and his mother started the store and have opened a new store every year. All of a sudden his mother wants to slow down and he doesn't know if he can do that. If he can just have a conversation with Angela that doesn't turn into an argument, he will feel lucky. She blames him for the closing of her store and he can't seem to say anything that will convince her that he isn't the cause. As Geoff tries to apologize to her, he finds that she is so much more than he thought. Can he convince her that he is sincere?
Loved it! A charming love story. A lighthouse is central to the tale. One of my favorite things. Since I don't celebrate Christmas, reading a book entitled "Dear Santa" doesn't seem likely. A fan of other books by Nancy Naigle, I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did.
A great holiday read. Angela and Geoff are business rivals in the same small beach town. She is a whiz when it comes to the history of the town. He is a newcomer and competitor. The sparks fly and not always in a good way. Well worth reading.
A sweet, clean Christmas read with a lot of history and nostalgia putting you right in the mood for Christmas.
It wasn't all roses between Angela and Geoff as they had a few pda's without the affection. The attraction was always simmering and I enjoyed reading their journey
Great "You've Got Mail" type Christmas story. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and the setting. Small town communities are always a draw for me, and I really enjoyed this story!
I was super in the middle with this book, there were parts I liked and others not so much. Maybe its was just me but in the beginning of he book Marie came of super conceded and seem to look her nose down at there sister. I also felt in the first portion of the book the author seemed to repeat herself and spend a lot of time on one thing but then it became rushed in the end. I did really enjoy the small town and how no matter what the town seem to rally around people. I loved how in the end of the day Marie and her husband stood by Angela and supported her, and I loved how Geoff came across as a hard soul but also had a heart for him mom and those close to him. The book is a good clean read, and its the perfect book to get you into the Christmas spirit.
I am such a sucker for a Christmas novel, and when the novel is a Christmas retelling of the movie "You've Got Mail" - well, sign me up!
This is the first book by Ms Naigle that I have read, and I really did enjoy it. If you have seen the movie, there is nothing in the book that is going to surprise you, however that didn't bother me in the least. After a run of thrillers and crime books, a cute, sweet fluffy book was just what I needed.
I love the people of Pleasant Sands. I love the sense of community, the friendships, the family.
I also love the push/pull between Angela and Geoff, watching them fall in love when they didn't even like each other.
Dear Santa is a quick, sweet read that couldn't help but make me smile.
Bring on Christmas!
Nancy Naigle’s latest, Dear Santa, is a perfect Shop Around The Corner or You’ve Got Mail story. Much of the interaction between Angela and Geoff is separate, but the pull between them in undeniable. I couldn’t wait to keep reading. I’m a longtime Naigle fan, and this does not disappoint. If you are looking for a perfect Hallmark holiday read, this is a book for you.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
This was a sweet Christmas "I've got mail" story. Angela is runing her grandmothers Lighthouse/Christmas store, but a new store has come to town that sells cheaper Christmas items. Geoff is helping his mother run their Christmas galore store. When Angela and Geoff meet, they clash immediately.. Angela writes a letter to Santa (at her nieces request) not knowing Geoff will be the one answering. They keep writing and are more attracted to each other with each writing. The story moves along quickly and the headers are cute and are a tell for each chapter. I enjoyed this book and will read more from this author I got this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
I love Christmas books and Dear Santa was no exception. I enjoyed the plot, characters and the North Carolina setting. I always enjoy this author’s books. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my digital arc this is my unbiased review.
This is a sweet story which will probably become a Hallmark movie. I appreciate the opportunity to read it but I cannot recommend the book because it lacked character development.
It is never to early to start reading Christmas stories. This was a fun story of a small town and the importance of family, friends, and history. When a big box comes to town it seems like it is going to put the local Christmas store housed in the towns historic lighthouse the twists and turns of how the business came to a natural end and the closing of that door opened a new one that gives the town a bright future in tourism and town history, and brings Angela and Geoff the happiness they both deserve in a town they love.
Dear Santa: A Novel (Kindle) by Nancy Naigle This is a sweet Christmas story with Anglea Carson (owner of THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS and Geoff Paisley (owner of CHRISTMAS GALORE) thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview and review this book. Anglea inherited her store from her grandmother who raised her... Geoff and his mother own a chain of discount stores and open one up the road from Angela... This is a sometimes sad and touching also funny and interesting story. I have to admit that I shed a few tears when Angela found the red envelope in her grandmother's desk. I also enjoyed her letters to Santa and his response... This great story gets to a wonderful HEA.
Yes it's a version of "You've Got Mail" set in North Carolina and with Christmas stores not bookstores but who cares? It's fun, it's light, and it's got a positive message, which is something we can all use a little more of. Angela and Geoff might seem like dolts for not recognizing what's happening but Naigle never takes things too far. Thanks to net galley for the ArC. I enjoyed this and expect others looking for a relaxing read will as well.
This is a perfect type of story I love to read. It made me happy and to feel good. It's a delightful book. Dear Santa is a fun Christmas story about Angela, who owns a long time family Christmas business in an old light house in the small beach town of Pleasant Sands. Things become complicated when Geoff Paisley opens up his chain of businesses called Christmas Galore and becomes competition for Angela's store. The two are like fire and ice to each other and feelings are hurt, competition is tough and struggles ensue.
I love how this book is put together. There are either endearing letters from children to Santa or trivia facts about Pleasant Sands at the beginning of each chapter. I was tickled at the letters and how different what each child wanted from Santa was. The trivia facts were interesting and made the little town feel cozy and historic.
I know I'm probably in the minority in that I have not watched hardly any Hallmark movies but this book was so wonderfully pleasant that I now want to watch those movies. Nancy Naigle wove the magic of Christmas and love into a traditional type of Christmas story of finding love and forgiveness. This is a touching, warm, and very entertaining novel.
I want to thank Nancy Naigle and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I love it and enjoyed it so very much
Dear Santa by Nancy Naigle
Anita and Geoff are business rivals. They are also immensely attracted to each other. You feel their connection throughout the story and hope it works out. You’ve Got Mail holiday romance in a beach town deep with history. Charming and delightful.
The Santa letters as chapter headers were adorable. Sometimes funny, some sad. I often thought about what my reply would be. The Pleasant Sands history chapter headers were well thought out and made the town real. The secondary characters have depth and make me want to revisit this beach town.
A wonderful holiday romance.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.
Dear Santa was a cute Christmas romance. The story was set in a small town and I thought it added so much history, spirit, and reminded me of the importance of the holidays.
It was such slow burn romance that had me flipping the pages so quickly. I wanted to know what was going to happen between the two main characters, Geoff and Angela.
Angela and Geoff didn't get off on the right foot. They both ran Christmas stores and Geoff's store, Christmas Galore, was doing really well. Angela's store, Heart of Christmas, continued to struggle. The shop had been in her family for many generations and she was faced with a tough decision. Does she close the store or keep it open?
Angela is respected and loved by everyone in her Pleasant Sands and when she isn't getting along with Geoff everyone including herself is surprised.
Geoff is all about business. He opens a new store every year. He doesn't have a permanent home and his mom plans on changing this.
Geoff and Angela seem to be enemies, but Dear Santa letters have a funny way of bringing these two together. These Dear Santa letters were amazing and gave these characters so much hope.
I really enjoyed reading this novel. It was a cute small town Christmas novel about hope, moving on, falling in love, and feeling the Christmas spirit.
3.5 Stars
Angela Carson wants nothing more than to be the third-generation to run her family’s holiday store, Heart of Christmas, successfully. They’ve weathered over sixty tourist seasons, major hurricanes, and urban sprawl, in their old decommissioned lighthouse. Then a national chain sets up shop in their small North Carolina town of Pleasant Sands .
Encouraged by her niece to ask Santa for help through the Dear Santa app, Angela gives in and lets the words fly in a way that, if Santa were real, would no doubt land her on the naughty list. Geoff Paisley has been at his mother’s side running the mega-chain Christmas Galore for the last ten years. When his mother falls ill, Geoff promises to answer the Dear Santa letters in her stead. Soon he realizes the woman he’s been corresponding with on Dear Santa is Angela.
From reading the blurb I was expecting more & was a little disappointed as I thought there would have been more emails. I didn’t warm to Angela & Geoff, I found her bitter & him cold & calculating. However I did overall enjoy this light Christmas novel & would recommend it for a non angsty read over the holidays
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I'm fond of movie and book retellings even though you never know which you'll get: the hit or the miss. This one falls right smack in the middle. The premise, character development and execution of the story are great but I really wanted just a bit more. Something that made me really fond of this book. Overall a good story and worth the read if the reader is a big fan of the movie 'You've Got Mail' and doesn't mind a book without surprises.
