I received a free, advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon, is a handsome rake, wealthy, charming and unknown to others, slowly losing his sight. When he was 14, his father had shot himself after having lost his sight, leaving the welfare of his mother and sisters on his young shoulders. He has vowed to never marry or have children, in order not to inflict the ailment on any child. He has traveled the world and sought beauty to cherish memories when he can no longer see.
Beautiful widow, Lady Penelope Fisherton, daughter of a duke and sister of the present Duke of Sandringham, needs his help, to prove her innocent of the death of her husband who fell off a cliff when drunk. When she was eighteen, being cajoled by her father to marry a Prussian prince twice her age, she had eloped with David Carmichael, believing he was in love with her, but finding out after the wedding that it was her property, money and title that he wanted. He was a horrid man and the only one who questions the death is his older brother, who wants her property and has accused her of murder. She needs someone who is honest, has experience in investigation and is not afraid or can be bought off by Lord Rotham, her ex-brother-in-law.
Stephen agrees to help her, if she agrees to let him try to seduce her. After the 6 horrible years with her husband, she never plans to marry, although she would have liked to have had children. She agrees as she is no longer the "stupid" girl she was at eighteen, believing she can stay immune to seduction. But if she is seduced by the right man? And will he risk feeling for a woman, despite the possible loss of his sight?
This is the first book that I have read from this author, but now I am intrigued enough to read more. The characters are masterfully developed and the scenario unusual. One of those books that you don't want to put down until the end.

Very steamy sexual encounters and a twist in the plot keep a nice flow to the story. A young widow has a plan to attract a Marquess to help prove her innocence in the murder of her husband. He's willing to help her for a price, the price of his seduction. On limited time he needs to find the evidence before her husband's family can convince the authorities that she's guilty. She has a secret and so does he that can prevent the trust they need to build on their relationship.

This was a fantastic read by Bronwen Evans!
The plot of the story flowed extremely well there was plenty of intrigue with twists and turns. Plenty of secrets that both characters keep close to their heart. Both are tortured souls that need each other-even though it takes a while for them to realize that together they can overcome their fear.
Pen and Stephen have incredible chemistry that just sizzle!
Once again Bronwen Evans has another sensual read! I highly recommend this book!!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley This is my honest unbiased opinion honest opinion..

Such a burden to carry for Stephen. I loved how Penelope was able to see beyond that burden. When misunderstandings and unspoken words threatened to tear apart this couple, my heart hurt. I loved their chemistry, their ability to see more than what was right in front of them, as well as the honest and steamy scenes between the two of them. Great descriptions and emotion. I recommend this story.
I received an ARC of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

*** 3.5 Stars ***
What a lovely surprise to find that this book wasn’t dark and intense – as most of this author’s books are. The book is well written and moves steadily along. We had cameo visits from Alex and Hestia from the first book in the series, Addicted To The Duke, and it was lovely to catch up with them and their son Christopher. The two main characters in this book are flawed, filled with secrets and are afraid of love. It is nice to see them find their HEA. While the book is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone.
Lady Penelope "Pen" Fisherton is in a bit of a precarious position at the moment and she needs an investigator to clear her name. Her husband, Lord Carmichael, was a vile man who was into some really nasty smuggling and her brother-in-law, Lord Rotham, wants to implicate her in Carmichael’s death. That would allow Rotham to inherit all of her property and wealth – and she would be charged with murder. Pen has done her research and has decided that Lord Clevedon is just the man she needs to help her. Through her research, she learned that Clevedon wants, very badly, to win a painting that is coming up at auction. It is her plan to outbid him at the auction and then offer him the painting in return for clearing her name.
Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon, is a rake, a spy and a lover of beauty in all its forms – especially the female one. Stephen is also slowly going blind just as his father did before him. He’s seen all of the doctors and they all say the same thing. It is a disease that runs in families and since the symptoms have presented themselves, he will continue to lose his sight. If he is lucky, he won’t go totally blind, but that doesn’t give him any hope. He is already to the point where he can only see what is directly in front of him and he is almost totally blind when the light is low. His plan is to see and appreciate all of the beauty he can while he can still see it and then, to take the same route his father did when he totally loses his sight. There is a painting by a relatively uncollected painter coming up for auction and it is the best painting of a sunrise he has ever seen, so he must have it. Imagine his surprise when there is a beautiful woman trying to outbid him! Well, there was no way she was going to win, he’d pay whatever he had to in order to get the painting.
With her first plan thwarted, Pen decides to intrigue him – and she certainly succeeds there. When he visits her at her home to gift her with the painting, she tells him about her plot with the painting and asks for his help. He agrees – if she will allow him to try to seduce her. The story is off and running after that. The investigation soon turns up some of the vile things her husband was guilty of, but finding proof was more difficult. As they investigated, they became closer and closer and decided that love might actually be an option after all. There are many fits and starts to their romance and it almost comes totally undone, but it was nice to see their well-earned HEA.
There were some inconsistencies and title errors, etc. but I assume those will be repaired prior to the release of the book. I guess the real reason for the 3.5 star rating is that I had a hard time buying the plot. It didn’t make any sense that Pen would request Stephen’s help without telling him the truth. I mean, he was a spy for the crown and was a good investigator, did she honestly think he wouldn’t unearth her big secret? I also never understood the thing with the local magistrate – it was left unresolved. Was the magistrate corrupt, just doing a poor job or trying to cover up something? I also would have liked to see Stephen sit down and talk with his mother about his father’s suicide.

"I requested and received this e-book at no cost to me and volunteered to read it; my review is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher."

What a ride?! I am so glad that Stephen got his happily ever after! The story was beautiful. The characters are - who do I say it- absolutely amazing! I didn't want to put it down!

Drawn to the Marquess by Bronwen Evans is book Two in the Imperfect Lords series. This is the story of Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon and Penelope 'Pen' Fisherton. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Pen brother-in-law is out to get her money and frame her for her husband's death. Thinking her only hope who be Stephen she goes forward to try to buy a painting he wants so that she can make a deal with him. Stephen is very passionate about all things of beauty due to his father's loss of site and his lost of site that is pending. But one thing of beauty is Pen and he comes to a bargain that he will help her if she allows him to try and seduce her. After such a bad marriage Pen is sure that she cannot be seduced but Stephen is hard to resist alone with her growing feelings.
Enjoyed reading their story!

Penelope had been trapped in a terrible marriage for six years before her husband died, allowing her prior properties and money to revert back to her. Her brother-in-law wants to seize that fortune by proving that her husband's death was murder, so Penelope enlists Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clarendon. He's a rake she's determined not to fall for and has contacts that could help her.
This is a rather seasoned formula for Regency romances, as the titled lord with contacts must be convinced to rescue the damsel in distress. Penelope isn't fresh out of the schoolroom, which is nice, and she is very self-assured and helpful to the people in her country village. Stephen has his own issue, as he is slowly going blind and trying to race against time to see every beautiful thing he can before that happens. Penelope figures out his secret fairly early on, and Stephen figures out her secret toward the end of the novel, temporarily driving a wedge between them. The two really do make a good match, as they're both stubborn and independent while longing for someone special to share their lives with. They are surrounded by loving and supportive friends and family, which makes for a warm and easygoing story before the action kicks in at the very end.

When I read the blurb on this book I could not wait to read it. One of my favorite tropes in the wounded hero or heroine and this gave me that in abundance. It warms my heart to see them have hope and find love because everyone is not perfect.
Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon is going blind, just like his father who killed himself when he was young. Determined to see and experience all the beauty he can before that fatal day comes, He sets out to seduce beautiful widower, Lady Penelope. But she has her own agenda when she gets his attention and needs him to help her.
Two beautiful people, full of secrets and strong emotions. One determined to have her in his bed and one just as determined to not allow herself to feel love, passion or desire. Her dead husband had killed all of those feelings in her, or did he?
This story gripped me from the beginning and as the pages turned, there was a mystery, secrets held and such strong emotions with these two. Due to the author's wonderful descriptions and amazing prose, I fell in love with these characters and only wanted them to find love and happiness.
I recommend this story tenfold and although part of a series it can be read as a standalone. Thank you Bronwen Evans for a wonderful book. I cannot wait for more.

Outstanding addition to the Imperfect Lords series. It is so refreshing to read about men and women persevering over real-life struggles. The way Stephen views the beauty of the world around him is toe-curling amazing. I love how Penelope’s stubbornly strong-willed ways allowed her to build a life for herself and community. I couldn’t put it down.

Drawn to the Marquess by Bronwen Evans was a story about Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon, who was know as a rake and loving to watch those in the heat of passion. He wanted as many memories as possible before his vision is gone. Lady Penelope, a widow, was married to a scoundrel when cared for no one but himself. He was abusive and hated by so many. His death was ruled accidental but now his brother wants Penelope charged with murdering his brother so he can get the inheritance. Pen asked Stephen to help prove her innocence. He agrees but wants only one thing in return, the opportunity to seduce her. A story of trust issues, intrigue, as well as mystery. Will they find their HEA. Read and enjoy this story. I received an advance copy of this book for my honest review.

My Thoughts on Drawn to the Marquess:
Bronwen Evans has written a compelling story with a flawed instead of perfect hero and heroine.
Both Stephen and Penelope have their secrets. When Penelope sets out to get Stephen to help her prove her innocence in the death of her husband she never intended it to lead to love. She was married before to a scoundrel who cared for no one but himself so she wants nothing to do emotionally with another man.
Stephen is slowly losing his eyesight due to an inherited condition. Therefore he has decided to let this malady end with him. He will not marry or ever produce an heir. But when he meets Penelope his thoughts and desires take off on a different tangent altogether.
I loved this new book by Bronwen Evans. I must say I enjoyed it much more than book #1 of the Imperfect Lords Series.
I gave this book 4.85 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 4.0 of 5.0 flames. This hero and heroine definitely have a heated intimate connection.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Another absolutely, delicious story by Bronwen Evans that will captivate and seduce her readers into staying up into the wee hours of the morning. Beautifully written, with likable characters, whose every interaction sizzles with attraction and heat, making them jump off the pages.
Stephen Hornsby, The Marquess Of Clevedon, has been losing his sight for some time now, and fears he will become blind like his father. He has been on a quest to see every beautiful thing and to imprint it to his memory. When he sees Lady Penelope Fisherton at Sotheby’s Auction House the instant hit of lust rushing through his body reminds him that to be unable to see such beauty will be a punishment worse than death and he slowly drank in the beautiful luscious woman. He knew then he had to have her in his bed.
Lady Penelope was a widow who had eloped eight years ago with Mr David Carmichael. After losing everything because she let her cad of a husband seduce her at the age of eighteen, she had to endure abuse and neglect at her husbands’ hands. A year ago her husband died under suspicious circumstances. He was found at the bottom of the cliff. Now her brother-in-law was trying to implicate her in her husbands’ death. And she needed, The Marquess Of Clevedon’s help. When the Marquess finely comes to call on her a week later they both strike a bargain with the other. He will help her prove her innocence if is she will let him try to seduce her.
Get ready for more than some hot romance and seduction, as danger, intrigue, and as well as some twists and turns adds an edge to this Swoonworthy, Romance. Do they get a HEA? You will need to read this to find out. Loved this.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is my first book by this author I really enjoyed the story between Penelope and Stephen and how their relationship grew. The slow seduction with Stephen towards Penelope was quite enjoyable and did not feel rushed. For me the story did not seem to drag along or stall like some other romance books do.
When Penelope mentioned swimming early on it seemed to for tell an important event relating to swimming further along in the book. Things really turn around for Stephen and his mindset over losing his sight when he meets Travis.
If there is not a story between Dorothea and Jonathan I hope one is written. I am going to check out other books by the author to see if one is written.
I can not wait to read her other books!

Drawn to the Marquess by Bronwen Evans is an intense story with a blend of romance and crime solving mystery. The strength of the heroine is only surpassed by the intensity of the hero. This book ranges far with subject and geography. The characters are well written, complex and rich. Their interactions are not predictable which adds to the drama and storyline. Highly recommend the unique story. And there is a lot of story so make sure you have time as it is very hard to put down.

Overall, I thought the story was enjoyable. I did think Stephen fell too fast for the kind of rake he is portrayed to be in the beginning. I would have liked for him to keep thinking it was lust for a lot longer before realizing the lust he felt was actually love. I thought that for a rake portrayed as stubborn and stuck in his ways and very determined to never get involved, he fell pretty fast. It didn’t take him long to start thinking about his feelings for her and how quickly his views changed, and I didn’t think her actions truly inspired that quick of a turn around. I wanted him to be a stronger rake type character that would be hard to win over, and he seemed to fall rather fast. Penelope was an interesting female character and her back story made her interesting and believable when it came to finding it hard to trust him. The story did end well and I really liked the epilogue. I love seeing how things end up after the last chapter, especially when time has gone by. The plot was intriguing and the conflicts the characters had to overcome were entertaining and made for a good story. I liked it overall, I just like my rakes to be far more stubborn than Stephen seemed to be.

Lady Penelope "Pen" Fisherton needs help clearing her name, her brother in law, Lord Rotham wants her inheritance and has accused Penelope of killing her husband. If his accusations are proven, Penelope will be charged with murder and Rotham will claim her fortune for himself. She has come to London from Essex to bribe Stephen Hornsby, the Marquess of Clevedon into helping her. Stephen is a spy, a rake and a lover of beauty, Penelope plans to outbid him on a painting he wants and use it as leverage to get him to help her.
Stephen has a secret, he is going blind just as his father before him, as a lover of beauty, this terrifies him, the painting of a sunrise is especially lovely and he wants it so he can burn the image in his mind before he loses his sight. He is surprised by the beautiful woman bidding against him, but wins the painting. Intrigued by her, he tracks her down, to give her the painting. And when he meets her, he learns why she wanted it. He agrees to help her on one condition - she will let him try to seduce her. She agrees, but has no plans of letting him succeed.
Stephen needs more information and goes to see her brother, the Duke of Sandringham, he learns about Pen's unhappy marriage and Carmichaels untimely death. He tells Pen they will need to go to Essex and she agrees. On the trip, he begins his seduction and she is upset to learn that she is not as immune as she thought. They stay with his sister, who is married to Pen's dear friend Jonathan, and both of them are a bit envious of the couples obvious love. By the time they reach her home, she has figured out his secret and confronts him. A talk with his sister, makes him realize how selfish he has been regarding his plans for when his sight finally fails. He returns to the house to find Pen waiting for him. They talk and Pen seduces him.
They are falling in love and they discuss marriage, but Stephen still needs to clear Pen's name. His investigation turns up information about Carmichael that is truly shocking and nearly gets him killed. Pen cares for him while he is injured, she knows that she should tell him the secret she has been keeping from him, but is scared he will think she used him, she uses the time together to prove to him that she loves him. When he is healed, he leaves to go to London to speak to the magistrate, he will clear her name and return to her to marry.
But while staying with his sister on his return, he gets a note that changes everything. He returns to Pen, but instead of the loving reunion she expected, Stephen accuses her of using and betraying him. The HEA she envisioned crumbles before her eyes. She tries to explain, but his insecurities lead him to believe the worst. She is heartbroken and desperate to prove to him her love is true, but her past catches up to her before she can find him and it may be too late.
This is a well written book (there were a few inconsistencies and title errors, but I assume that they will be corrected prior to publication) that moves at a steady pace. Stephen and Penelope are both flawed, broken people who don't believe that love is their destiny, but as they get to know each other, they find love and because of their insecurities, almost lose it. There are cameos with Alex & Hestia, steamy love scenes, a nail biting ending, a hard won HEA and a very sweet epilogue. I liked the book but honestly, I really, really had a hard time buying the plot, it made no sense to me why Pen would seek out Stephen's help without telling him her secret or why she would want him to investigate in the first place. I don't feel like that aspect of the story was ever explained and it left me feeling confused. This is the second book in the series, but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone.
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an uncorrected eARC that was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher.*

A young, handsome man says to you “I am going blind.” What would be your reaction?
If that young, handsome man happened to be Stephen Hornsby, Marquess of Clevedon, he would quickly and emphatically tell you that he does NOT want your pity.
Stephen has been forever pegged as a playboy who loves women and beauty. He especially loves to see the delights of a woman enjoying lovemaking. He wants to see the joy that sexual climax once more and specifically on the face of Lady Penelope before his disease robs him of his vision.
What may sound like a rather tawdry premise is in no way any such thing. When I read the information about Bronwen Evans’s novel on NetGalley, I wondered just that, but was still drawn to accept the ARC offered. What I discovered was that Stephen is doing his best to accept his pending disability, planning for the future in a way that matters to him. I cannot help but to wonder if I would be able to do nearly as well.
The book is not mawkish but still makes clear the heavy toll blindness will take on a man such as Stephen. DRAWN TO THE MARQUESS, despite its serious undertones, is a striking love story that combines both passion and tenderness with a couple that becomes a team, each offering the other something that’s needed, making it a hard-to-put-down kind of book.

The Marquess of Clevedon is a man who loves to admire beauty in all his forms and when an unknown lady tries to win a painting he wants at an auction, he’ll find the focus of his interest dramatically shifted.
When Lady Penelope Fisherton finds herself in trouble, she will try to enlist the help of the ill reputed Marquess by any means possible, but once she realizes there’s more to him than the rumors of the ton, she’ll have to decide whether to reveal all her secrets and maybe lose her chance at true love.
I liked this story a little better than the first one, but again struggled with Ms. Evans writing style and ended up finding the book redundant and over the top. It is still a rather original story and I think others might enjoy it, but at the end of the day, I think this author’s work is not my cup of tea.

The story revolves around two people who have no desire to marry, Pen because of the abuse she suffered at her late husband’s hands and Stephen because he is loosing his eyesight and does not want to be a burden. Pen needs Stephen’s help in trying to keep her brother-in-law from getting her accused of her husband’s death that was previously ruled accidental. Stephen does not want any payment, he only wants the opportunity to try and seduce her. The story is much more than a romance, it involves a smuggler who was working with her late husband, the disappearance of two young girls from the village, Pen being kidnapped and her escape, and the reality that taking another chance at love can be quite rewarding. I loved this story because it is so much more than it appeared to be at first. It is extremely well written and pulls you into their world which is the sign of a great book. I would highly recommend this book as a great read, you will not be disappointed,
