This was nothing but a teaser! I've been curious about Urian for a while now and I'm glad his book is finally here. Hopefully, I get answers to all my burning questions and I'll be glad to see Styxx and everyone else make appearances. Def going out and getting the full book asap!

This is Urian's story, finally. The world building this author does is amazing and draws you into the story, it feels real. The characters we all know and love, or love to hate, are part of this ongoing series and make appearances here as well. You will be drawn in from the first page. Prepare to do nothing else until you finish.

STYGIAN is the latest book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. I wouldn't recommend jumping into this lengthy tome without at least reading a few books in this series in order to be familiar with this world. It's good to have a copy of KISS OF THE NIGHT on hand -- whether as a re-read for fans, or for new readers to check out in the middle of reading STYGIAN. The events in KISS OF THE NIGHT take place a little into the second half of STYGIAN. STYGIAN is divided into two sections -- the ancient past and the modern era. Urian is a being thousands of years old, and the heroine of STYGIAN is a certain dragon he met once upon a time. Some readers enjoy reading about events set in ancient times more than other readers do but doing so in this book will explain how Urian met Sarraxyn aka Xyn, as well as give a better understanding of his friends and family, and the complexities of Urian's relationships with them.

Longtime fans who might have wondered how Urian and Phoebe's doomed romance started have their curiosity satisfied after reading STYGIAN. While on a mission to kill Phoebe and her family, Phoebe initially sees Urian as a Bond villain and then later as a Batman-like figure. Their early relationship is very sweet and has an adolescent "young love" charming quality to it. For fans of the Dark-Hunter series, Sherrilyn Kenyon revisits stories told in past books, through Urian's eyes. Over the thousands of years, he's been alive, Urian has had two major loves and lost both of them, experienced shifting and shocking alliances, and lived through too many apocalyptic battles to count. Through it all, Urian always lacked a sense of belonging and his loneliness only increased over the years to an almost unbearable degree. I love when the story picks up from the events in DRAGONSWORN with Urian, Medea, Falcyn, Blaise, Brogan, and the longsuffering Shadow on what amounts to a suicide mission. The chemistry between the characters is great and it takes Urian on the path to his lost love.

STYGIAN is an epic tale of family drama, daring warriors, monumental battles, and unwavering love. For someone who once felt isolated and unloved, Urian has family, friends, and former lovers coming out of the woodwork. Although Urian's is the main perspective, it's great to read about key battles or events that took place in the Dark-Hunter world from various perspectives. Familiar characters take on added dimensions. The one constant in this book, and this series, is the vile behavior exhibited by longtime villain Apollo. Mixing dragons into Sherrilyn Kenyon's world of gods, demons, and hunters has added to the allure of this Dark-Hunter series. I look forward to Sherrilyn Kenyon's next Dark-Hunter book.

I was give a preview excerpt of this book to read and now I cannot wait to get my hands on a full copy! Sherrilyn Kenyon has been a long time favorite author and Stygian is an example of why. I will be getting my hands on a copy of this book ASAP! I love her series and often go back and re-read them. A lot of emotion in her characters that we all go through - love, hate, helplessness, fear of rejection. All this from a preview!
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and her publisher for letting me read a preview excerpt of her new novel.

I just got a preview of this book and all it did was wet my appetite for more! I want to devour the whole thing because the preview wasn't nearly long enough. It is the beginning of the novel and reading this I can just pick up where I left off when the novel comes out. Definitely a must read for any fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Not a fan of excerpts as I prefer to read a book the whole way through or not at all. I did enjoy the snippet and will check out other books by the same author. I have added the book to my site to help promote it.

Ok, this was an excerpt. 215 pages, but so well worth it! I cannot wait to purchase this hard cover when it comes out. I’ve always collected her later Dark Hunters in hardbacks. The wait for this book was SO well worth it. I can tell Sherrilyn has taken her time to master this book and I haven’t gotten to the end of the book yet! Everytime, she writes about a Dark hunter, she gets better and better. I’d have to say watch out Acheron! I’m starting to crush on Uri! Also, I’ve noticed how I’m begininning to like Apollymi more and more. I believe there should be a book on her. She truly deserve to have her story told. My review will be finished once I’ve obtained the hardback and devoured the rest of the story. Thank you Tor and Net Galley for allowing me to read an excerpt from it.😊

Wow! I had a chance to read a preview of the next Dark Hunter novel which will be released on August 28 and let me tell you that I can't wait to read this very exciting story. Just reading the small taste I got already has my pulse pounding and has me gnashing my teeth that I can't read the book at this very moment.

Really, I don't know if I will want to read preview ever again. It's kind of mean to be teased like this. But, it is also good in a way because it means I know for sure that I won't mind spending my money on this book, but at that same time, it's Sherrilyn Kenyon so I know I am going to buy it, because I have been impatiently awaiting the release of Stygian as I do all the Dark Hunter Universe books.

And since I know that many others out there is eagerly awaiting this book, I am posting some helpful links for them and of course for anyone else that might be interested.

I've been reading the Dark Hunter series from the very beginning, and I’ve also read most of the various “spinoffs.” I always eagerly look forward to the next book in this series and Stygian is no exception. This excerpt has only left me impatiently awaiting the full book’s release so that I can finish reading about Urian, his brothers, Xyn, Phoebe, and all the others included in his story.

I love how the author pulls me into their world, filling out characters we know and love while giving us a view of the parts we didn’t know. The flow and cadence lulled me deep and surrounded me with the scents and feel of their lives. I can’t wait to read the rest!

I LOVED Stygian so far. The Dark-Hunter series is one of my favorites, so I have been waiting for Stygian. The preview so far is incredible, everything you have come to expect from Sherrilyn Kenyon and then some. Without giving anything away I can tell you that if you loved Acheron and Styxx, you will love Stygian.

It's onto the 29th book in the Dark Hunter series and we finally get the long-awaited, and eagerly anticipated story of Urian.
Once again Sherrilyn Kenyon has delivered an indepth, detailed and very emotional installment to the series, the attention to detail continues to astound me.
It looks to me that this book is going to run along the same lines as Acheron and Styxx, in that we're going to get a whole load of backstory before we reach the point where we know Urian to be, and then continue onto his future. It was part of this backstory I had the opportunity to read, Urians early life, and if what I've read is a glimpse into what's to come, it's safe to say that this is going to be a good one.
Lots of feels in this excerpt, as we see the relationships Urian has with those around him.
Loved the dynamics with his family. It was truly fascinating to see Stryker with his children, the love her has for them is clear to see, especially with Urian. How Sherrilyn manages to make me empathise and care about the bad guys I'll never know, but she does it, time and time again.
I felt it was important that we had this chance to see Urians close relationship with Stryker in this detail, in order for us to fully feel the impact of what's to become.
Very cleverly written, lots of insight into the life of one of my favourite characters and more revelations that continues to build one of the most interwoven, complex series I've ever read, oh what a tangled web Sherrilyn weaves, so good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read and yes it was extremely frustrating to be unable to continue.
Once again I was pulled into the story completely and I can't wait to find out what lies ahead for Urian.
A captivating, fascinating and emotional read.

***Preview Excerpt provided by NetGalley.

I have not read the previous 28 books in the series. So why request just an excerpt of book 29 from NetGalley? I'm a huge fan paranormal/fantasy series and I'm always looking for a new series to dive into. I wanted to know if this would be a good fit for me. There are currently 29 books in the series to date. This is a huge investment in time and money for any reader. After taking a sneak peak into Stygian I can undoubtedly say yes, this is worth my time and money. There were so many characters and so much to learn but I really like the writing and I know I will be able to dive right into this world.

Oh wow! Sherri sure knows how to begin a story! I've followed the Dark Hunter series from book 1 and have wanted to know more about Urian since we first met him. This excerpt (which is a HUGE excerpt) whet my appetite and now I'm craving the rest of the story. I can't wait until I can get my hands on Stygian and finish where I left off!

This is one of my favorite authors and I love the imagery and the feelings her characters invoke in a reader. My only caveat is that she can beat a dead horse to death. If there is torture it takes up half of the book giving you just about every form of torture that person can endure. If there is destruction it’s taken to an extreme and its unending. Once we get past the destruction from Apollymi and she really goes on a rampage we get to the story of Urian.

I haven’t visited the Dark Hunters in a while but this book refreshed my memory and gave insightful information on missing parts of different characters. Even thou this was just an excerpt you could feel the struggle and conflict within Urian. Wanting so much to protect his mother but desperately wanting to be accepted for who he is. How an innocent meeting with a dragon can lead to so much more.

You need a flow chart to keep up with who was switched at birth, who knows what secret goes with which person, who’s playing both sides, this is certainly not light reading. There were many heart-warming moments seeing the parental love between many of the characters, the blush of first love, the sting of betrayal and the slow build of anger. It is definitely an emotional roller coaster since we know many of these characters later in life. You get a glimpse into their past to see what may have started them on the path they ended up on.

I received an excerpt ARC from Net Galley for an honest review.

Oh wow. This is wonderful. I can feel how much Ms. Kenyon loves Urian. I feel this is one of the best books she has written recently. I love all of her books but this one has a little extra in it an I've only read an excerpt. I am waiting with baited breath for the full book to be released on the 28th. Thank you Ms. Kenyon for allowing us to share your world!
