Summary:

This novel starts out quick with the action! Mindy Wright is a competitive skier who has a detrimental crash in the very first scene of the book. While she is getting surgery, the doctors discover that Mindy has leukemia and needs a stem cell transplant. Both of Mindy's parents are tested and there is not a match! Mindy's aunt becomes involved in the investigation of this mystery with Mindy's birth and who has a match for Mindy's stem cells.

My Thoughts:

I was not the biggest fan of JT Ellison's first two books I read, but I am so glad I gave this book a chance! This book was so awesome. It moves fast, and I felt the race against the clock to save Mindy's life.

I gave this 5/5 stars on Goodreads. I highly recommend you go out and purchase this book!

WOW - I love JT Ellisons style of writing, her ability to build suspense and I cannot wait to see what she writes next. This book was a 5 star read that kept me engaged right from the ski crash and I could not put the book down through the twists and turns of this family drama/thriller.

This book knocked J. T. Ellison to a new favorite author status. She has a seriously impressing writing style that will not disappoint. I rarely give five stars, but this one is deserving!

Mindy is a world class skier (think Lindsey Vonn) when an accident leaves her unable to ski and qualify for the Olympics. While she is the hospital, she finds out some news that changes her life. This is a great thriller by Ellison that I read in one day. However, there are suicide triggers in this book, but Ellison stresses how people can reach out for help in the Epilogue.

This book is utterly insane and I love it. Very thrilling and hard to put down. I just hate that in the end Lauren doesn't give the full truth to bio dad, but it is what it is. Crazy people that lie from the beginning can't be expected to be fully honest.

Thank you HARLEQUIN and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book - all opinions are my own.

This book is (wonderfully) not at all what I was expecting when I picked it up. Where I was expecting a typical psychologically thriller, this is something more akin to a character drama, with a mystery and a twist of thriller mixed in, and I LOVED it. Once I picked it up, I burned through it within two days as I was genuinely curious to see what the twists were going to be.

The characters in this one are all interesting, a little flawed and very complicated and I love that in a story. I really enjoyed how J.T. Ellison moved the story back and forth between present day and the letter writing between Leisel & V decades before. It was the perfect way to unravel small clues to where the story was going, without letting the cat entirely out of the bag. Anytime I became convinced I knew where the story was headed I found myself wrong, and guessing again.

I don't want to reveal too much, as this is one that you deserve to enjoy without hints of spoilers, but I will say that I didn't see the ending coming, and I LOVED how it played out. Books that can surprise me get my highest praise, as it seems more and more difficult to do.

TRIGGER WARNING: I would be remiss if I did not mention - this book speaks frankly about cutting and suicide, so if either of those are triggers for you, please do proceed cautiously (or possibly take a pass on this one). While both topics are explored in great depth, it is done with care. I think it is terrific that authors are discussing these topics more openly as it helps advance and normalize conversation around mental health issues, however I would never want a reader to end up harmed by a plot.

An amazing follow up to Lie to Me - this one will not disappoint bookworms who are looking for the next great character drama suspense to keep them guessing.

Tear Me Apart is a fast paced story about what it means to be a parent and what secrets long kept can do to a family when they are revealed. I found this to be a really engaging story and different from what I expected. Recommended!

This is my first Ellison book, and I was pretty engrossed.

The book begins in an asylum, and then quickly moves to a teenager who experiences a horrendous skiing accident while qualifying for the Olympic team.

The book is about working hard to be best and what it means to be a parent. This book asks what makes a family and who deserves our trust?

I really related to Mindy, and although some of the action was unbelievable, I found the book a quick, interesting read that was hard to put down.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for my ARC.

Mindy Wright is a young skier looking toward the Olympics until a terrible fall causes her to be hospitalized. The badly broken leg becomes the least of her problems when she is discovered to have an aggressive form of leukemia. A stem cell transplant may be her only hope for survival, but neither of her parents are a match. The DNA results trigger a chain of events ultimately revealing secrets her mother has long kept buried.
My thanks to NetGalley. I received an advance digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC...

this was a good book... The author does really good character development (not too much), you can tell about half way thru the book but it was still a page turner.

Who knew a skiing accident could do so much... :)

When seventeen year old professional skier, Mindy, breaks her leg in a competition, a series of events unravel which will change the course of her and her family’s life forever. Specialty surgeons quickly discover she has a potentially fatal illness. Now her most important race is against time, to do what’s necessary to find a cure for her. It’s during this process that secrets and long hidden deeds are peeled back and exposed – leaving one major question: What’s the higher priority? Saving Mindy’s life, or keeping secrets hidden from everyone? review: This was the first book I had read from the author and I really enjoyed it! She does a great job of setting the scene, while keeping you guessing! When I started the book I would have never guessed that the storyline would unfold the way it did. This book had quite the web of lies and kept me flipping pages quickly until the very end. rating: 4 out of 5 stars

This was my first J.T. Ellison book, and it didn't disappoint! It was twisty, full of intrigue, and just plain fun...basically, my kind of book! And I'm a sucker for "switched at birth" type of stories, so that added to my pleasure. The only thing keeping me from giving this a full five star rating is because it was definitely a bit longer than it needed to be, and dragged a bit in the third quarter. But, one could say that about a lot of good books, so, outside of that, this one's a winner!

J.T. Ellison's latest suspenseful thriller "Tear Me Apart" is the gripping story of a mother willing to do anything to protect her daughter, even as their cautiously created world unravels around them. A world full of lies and deceit!
An addictive story with many twists and turns and never a dull moment.
This well-written and well-plotted novel held me captivated throughout.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin/MIRA for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

This is a fantastically twisty story. This is only my second book by J.T Ellison, she has quickly become one of my favorite writers. Mindy is a skier on the verge of the olympics untill an accident puts her in the hospital. This is when she learns she has leukemia and her only hope is a stem-cell transplant. Will anyone in her family be a match, will she survive this? Layers of twisty secrets and family drama with Mindys mom Lauren at the center of all.

I really enjoyed the thrill of this one. It’s quick drama filled pace, kept me flipping threw the pages fast to find out was going to happen next.
