The premise of the book is great and the author really delivers. Great read. Highly recommended. .
was a gripping thriller that took you to every aspect of trying to figure out what was really going on and what was going to happen next! This was such an amazing book and I can’t wait to see what else is released from this author!
This book sounded like just my cup of tea, I love thrillers and suspensful plots which is exactly what the book seemed like it would contain. However, the mystery was minimal as I found it quite predictable, and the characters were stereotypical of this type of novel and it did not bring anything new to the table,
I really enjoyed this book! It was very well written. I particularly love how the author gives us so many perspectives, and that those perspectives are separated enough that the reader knows who is responsible for each part of the story. This story has lots of science incorporated into it, but it is written in a manner so that the reader isn't lost. I loved the relationship between the agents and Ree. I really felt like I knew these people, and I was cested in their lives. The thriller aspect was great; I devoured this book to see what would happen next. Overall, a great, quick read that left me very satisfied!
As a readers I was worried when the synopsis as well as the title of the book started with Math or Science terms. I have found two types of author the ones that dive deep into the world to the point readers might get lost with the technical terms and lose force on the mystery or those who skim the technical terms and focus on the wider audience and the mystery. K.T. Lee takes the wider audience side and for that I am grateful.
The author is able is able to bring her characters to life as they walk off the pages of the story and into the readers hearts.
The chapters are short, easy to read making it perfect for the parents watching a their 4 year old play a sport (AKA) Stand in the field looking at the birds)
Calculated Deception is a fun quick read that mystery fans will enjoy.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Vertical Line Publishing, LLC for a copy of KT Lee's Calculated Deception.
As a female in the STEM field, I was instantly drawn to this book because of the setting. Unfortunately, I found that the focus was more on the academic side of Ree's job than the actual science. I feel like there was a missed opportunity with the lack of science included, but I understand that the author probably wanted to appeal to a wider audience. I thought that the characters were pretty typical and the mystery was interesting enough to keep reading. I didn't really like the formatting of the novel. The story is told in the third person, but there are paragraph breaks to indicate a change in perspective between characters. It felt a little clunky and didn't flow very nicely sometimes. Overall, I don't think anything really stood out about this novel, but it was a nice and light read.
