Best one yet in the series for me. I loved Miles and adored Reyes and together they made a formidable team. I liked how AM didn't have Miles instantly getting over his abusive ex-boyfriend and that they build their relationship up slowly through friendship first.
There's a bit too much internal monologuing from Reyes about his big secret I think as, for me, it did take the edge off the big reveal when it happened. The stalker plot is also handled well.

I have been waiting for Miles and Reyes story from the moment I read the first book when it came out so naturally my expectations were very high. Maybe too high because while I mostly enjoyed this book I didn't love it.

Mostly that's because I couldn't really connect to Miles. I absolutely salute him for getting back on his feet and taking control of his life. He's certainly not a bad guy but sometimes... I don't know, he seemed a little self absorbed. Especially when Reyes big secret came out it was still all about Miles. (I also felt that the whole Geoff thing came up way too much again in this book in a heavy handed way).
I still loved Reyes though. He's a great character and I love that the author didn't put any label on him.
I will also never tire of Clean Slate Ranch and the ghost town so I do hope there'll be more books in the future (Shawn? Robin?).

I really love A.M. Arthur, but this one was in my opinion the weakest of the series. I really liked Miles and his dramatic background story and I liked Reyes. What I didn't like what that Reyes had to have an even more dramatic past than Miles, which he kept a secret for a long time and then of course it caused some over-the-top drama. I'm always for drama, the more the better, but this felt off.

I don't really know how to rate this, I liked it, but at the same time I was a bit... I don't know... over it?

I'm sorry, A.M.! I really, really love your books.

3.5* Another decent read from this tried-and-trusted author. Looking forward to more in this series.

This book can be read as a standalone, but with all the previous characters appearing and being part of the tale, it's best to read the previous books to know who's who.

It's a tale of two guys who, at different times in their lives, have decided that things need to change and they need to man up and do the right thing. Miles is doing this right now by standing up to his abusive ex (and boy did I like the comeuppance he got!) and Reyes did it after a tragic incident in his teens, changing his life for the better, but never letting go of what haunted him. A bit like Miles struggled to let go of his ex haunting him mentally and physically.

It's a tale with a lot of love, a lot of decent characters who are human and flawed, but whose love and caring for each other make them, and other than the bad guy, this was pretty low key on the angst, thankfully. There is some tough stuff that happened to Miles at the hands of his ex, but that's told in retrospect and he has support and love.

A new character gets introduced in this, one whose tale I suspect AMA will end up writing.

This series just keeps getting better. I hope that there will be more book stories in the future. At the very least we need weddings!! I am so glad we finally got Miles story. I knew someth8ng bad happened but I didn’t quite go in my mind where the story went. I am so glad that Dallas is going to get what’s coming to him. I’m hoping he’s going to be someone’s little b**** in prison. When happen with Reyes in his younger days was so heartbreaking. I can understand why he did what he did, he was in an impossible situation. These two real helped with the healing of each other. I’m so glad that the ghost town is turning into an amazing attraction and if it was a real place, I would most definitely be spending time there, as well as the ranch. I don’t know what’s up with Mack’s dad and the real reason he showed up, but I think there might be a story there. There are other things that happened in the story that happened but I can’t tell you about as it would spoil it for you. So, if you have read the other stories in this series, you need to pick this one up as soon as it’s available.
