The thing about this book is that I found the heroine so unlikable. I want to like the heroine of the story. I want to be excited for her to get her HEA. But this book just didn't do it for me.
I picked this one up because I’m a Gina Maxwell fan as well as a huge fan of brother’s best friend/friends to lovers/even the “teach me how to...” trope (if done right). It took me a bit to get into this mostly because I thought the guy she wanted lessons for was a great big douchebag immediately and thought her reasons for compatibility vs passion were kind of thin. Yeah she had a bad marriage, but I didn’t think it was bad enough to turn her back on love altogether. Maybe after a string of bad relationships. Not just one. Still, the sex was hot and they had great chemistry, so I only deducted one star.
I read this book back in 2012 when it was first released and jumped at the chance to read and review it again. Love Gina L Maxwell. I have quite a few of her books on my shelf and this one is one of my all time favourites. The two main characters are so entertaining and I really enjoyed their chemistry. I was so excited to see it pop up again in 2018. Still a five star read for me and always will be.
A fun take loosely based on Cinderella, a best friend's sibling romance. I like how Reid convinced Lucie to help rehab his shoulder in time for his next match, although it was obvious that the chemistry between Reid and Lucie would spark something that has the potential to be something more.
Overall I liked the storyline and the characters especially Reid. Hot in all the right spot. Good job.
This was a brother best friend romance. We meed Lucie who is pining for a doctor that she works with but he doesn't see her, yes he works with her but he sees a plain jane. Reid needs to get in shape for his MMA match and he needs physical therapy and his boss send him to Lucie, when he gets there they realize that they knew each other but haven't seen each other for years, he was Jacob, Lucie's brother best friend. He needs extensive Physical Therapy and she doesn't have the time so he proposes a deal she treats him non-stop and he helps her get the doctor and this ends up requiring a make-over. While they spend time they fall for each other, and she no longer cares about the doctor she wants Reid, but Reid doesn't do relationships..So now what? Well grab a copy and read...
I really enjoyed this book! From the second I started reading I didn´t want to stop. I immediately fell in love with the characters. Reid and Lucie are just adorable. Reid is an MMA fighter who starts to see Lucie who is a physical therapist. I love how she introduced them spending time together. I also like that Reid tries to help Lucie get a man but in the obvious romance novel fashion he ends up falling for Lucie. I really enjoyed how hot and steamy this book got! The author writes so well. The story flowed from start to finish and I couldn´t read it fast enough. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good romance.
This was great read! The writing flowed well, and I loved the characters. Reid was great, and exactly what I love in a hero. Lucie was a little dense at times when it came to what she needed in a partner, but I was very happy to see her finally realize what was in front of her. I thought Vanessa was a great secondary character. She was always there for Lucie when she needed her. Although Butch didn't have a big role, that scene at the end with Reid had me tearing up a little. So did the scene with Reid's dad. I loved the ending. This was a first for me from this author, but I will definitely be checking out more from her!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Seducing Cinderella by Gina L. Maxwell is definitely a fast, fun and seriously HOT read! Friends to lovers is a wonderful trope and always makes me sigh and swoon a little. Lucie and Reid are fabulous characters that make this storyline truly engaging. So, if you’re looking for a throw down read that will warm your heart and require a fan to keep your temperature under control; then I certainly would recommend this!
Overall, a decent novel particularly if one enjoys this type of sub-genre. Unfortunately for me, it felt like a story I have read a thousand times before. Many times it’s the characters that make or break a story. While the characters aren’t particularly awful, they don’t stick out either. At times, the heroine’s insecurities are too much and become obnoxious. Meanwhile, the hero has a lot going for his that never truly feels fleshed out. They do have good chemistry, however, and their interactions are well written for the most part.
Sexy funny friends to lovers romance
Reading Gina L Maxwell's Seducing Cinderella put me in a wonderful mood.
I enjoyed watching Lucie and Reid's attraction grow, their chemistry undeniable. For me a successful romance is one in which the characters grow as people as they get to their HEA and Lucie and Reid growth certainly made this a successful and entertaining read.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.
I really liked this read. Reid needs some help preparing for his next match after and injury and Lucie needs so lessons on seducing a man. Even though she is Reid’s best friend’s little sister he agrees to help her. Will he get more than he bargained for? This is a fast-paced fun and steamy romance. I liked the characters and the story is entertaining. An enjoyable read.
When injured MMA fighter, Reid Andrews, shows up at his new physical therapist's office and it turns out to be his best friend's little sister, Lucie Miller, he's taken aback. How can gorgeous, grown up Lucie possibly be the little girl that used to follow him and her brother around? But Lucie is definitely all grown up. She's an excellent physical therapist who intends on treating Reid, even if Reid isn't too thrilled to go along with what he perceives will be the same ol', same ol' instructions that won't have him healed in time for his next fight.
But when Lucie tempts Reid into a arrangement where he shows her the way to seduce another man, a fellow doctor, suddenly Reid's not too sure he wants to show her how to please another man. Can both Reid and Lucie keep this arrangement casual? Of course not, not in romance and not in Seducing Cinderella. Will Lucie be able to bring herself to forgive Reid when he breaks her heart, but comes back and asks for another chance? Or will this tatted up bad boy have to concede that he broke her heart and leave without showing her that he's turned into the Prince Charming she's been looking for?
Seducing Cinderella is a steamy, fun brother's friend romance. It's one of my favorite tropes and Gina Maxwell has done it proud. Not much angst, just sexy, a little sweet, and the ending is perfect!
A totally adorable story. It is funny and endearing. It unfolds so naturally, it’s just like retelling a story to your girlfriends. That takes great talent from an author. The characters were lovable and you could ride all their emotional roller coasters with them effortlessly. I am very impressed with this work.
A story loosely based on Cinderella, but Reid fits the role of Fairy Godmother and Prince rolled into one.
Reid needs to heal a shoulder injury in time for his MMA title rematch fight. He ends up with his best friend's younger sister Lucie as his Physical Therapist. To get her to agree to completely focus on his rehabilitation, he offers to help her get the guy she has had a crush on. Before long, though, sparks are flying between Reid and Lucie.
This is the first book I have read by Gina L. Maxwell and it was a fun, quick read. I liked that it wasn't a strict retelling of the Cinderella story. My only wish is that we had gotten to see more of what Reid and Lucie were like together growing up.
Yummmmm, Reid is positively delicious! A sexy MMA fighter with a gentle touch, he is swoon-worthy. Lucie is a physical therapist that takes Reid on as a client when they enter a non-traditional patient/PT relationship. I loved the way they interacted and even loved the conclusion (even though I didn't want the book to end).
This is a well crafted romance that fans of the genre will love. Put this one at the top of your TBR list as it is a must read. The author is on my must read authors' list.
Seducing Cinderella, by Gina L. Maxwell is a contemporary romance between a physical therapist and her patient, who is an mixed martial arts fighter, as well as her older brother's best friend from childhood.
Reid Andrews is focused on his MMA career, which might be over if his injured shoulder is recovered by the next match. Through some random occurrences, Reid ends up in the care of Lucie Miller and her professional physical therapy skills.
Since he wants extra care, Reid convinces Lucie for more almost full-time management in exchange for helping her date her long-time crush. Lucie is sweetly disorganized and shy about men, especially after her cheating ex-husband damaged her heart and spirit. Reid promises to help Lucie prepare and attracted her long-time crush, yet he ends up falling for her.
It's the first book in the Fighting for Love series, which consists of four published books, so it's an easy and enjoyable book series to read.
Seducing Cinderella is recommended and geared towards those who enjoy reading passionate modern romances.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Normally I would wait a day or two before writing my review. But I was unable to wait with this book. So I am sitting here wiping tears from my eyes as I write this. This is one book that took me on a wild ride of ups and downs. If I’m being honest, At the start I wasnt sure i was going to like it. The first chapter was an eye rolling one if I ever read it. By this point I would have put the book down and not returned but something kept me turning those pages wanting to know more. The whole concept of Lucie needing to change who she was to get men to notice her annoyed me but I got it. It played on those feelings of inadequacy and self worth. Normally I wouldnt read anything like it. But in a strange twist of faith this worked.
Reid is one of those bad boys with a soft center. Right from the start he knew what was going on and played on it. Lucie on the other hand is clueless and a ditz. While the book is an okay read there is no backstory NONE. The whole story is basically one huge sex scene with a handful of things in between to break it up. It being a big brother’s best friend story it would have been awesome to involve the brother more than a simple phone call. After all the author went to the effort to tell the readers over and over that he was over protective.

As we develop as people, we learn our likes and dislikes. We learn what type of clothing manufacturers work with our bodies. We try on different styles of outfits, take a look and see if we feel like ourselves in the reflection.
Sometimes we get comfortable with a perception of ourselves but that may not be how others see us.
Where we see a nondescript, just an ok figure, others may see the perfect way everything just goes together.
Where we see ourselves as never being the knock out or attention getter, others may see the subtle flair which sneaks up on you beauty…. A kind that over takes any blatant display from others ….
And where we see the embarrassing, awkward movements and brain freezes, others may just love the purity of who you are… and the biggest question is.... can we as who we have always seen ourselves, shift and see from another angle, another perspective to see what others may see in us?
This question plays out not from just from Lucie Miller’s experiences but also in a more internal way for Reid Andersen, our couple in Seducing Cinderella. This had all of the moments we would expect… friends to lovers...revealing the diamond in the rough... and insight to both of their insecurities and fears.
And for me… that was the real beauty of this tale. You actually got a twofer… yup, two people who saw themselves one way and by the end of the tale… both were able to see all that they were through the eyes of the other.
This also had the beauty of comfort for me… because I knew from the start how much I was going to enjoy this book. There is nothing better than when you know what you want… seek out the source of how you can get it… and then have it delivered to you, happily.
The Entangled/ Brazen group has become that “go to” for me. When I want to feel the excitement of two people connecting, learning that something is percolating, bubbling and about to surface; when the talk gets intimate, sensuous and downright dirty…. I know I will be satisfied by this brand.
What I also know is there will be some substance to the journey besides hot, sweaty, wish fulfillment sex. Because what makes the sex so good… so real and oh, so gratifying is the substance in all of these stories. There is always some type of recognition. Some way the characters accept or understand that loving the person they desire is ok and right. That whatever obstacles they thought were real… they could see their way clear and make the “right” choice in the end and be with the person they loved.
So if you are like me and love to see people come together, have that juice flow and feel how excited they are to just be standing next to each other…. to almost think those words he is whispering in her ear while he is dragging his fingers up her bare arm are being said to you, then this book and brand is for you.
I now I am off to meet Jase, Lucie’s brother…. And see if he makes me feel that tingle, too….
