Another gripping outing for Martin's detective Hillary Greene. It's always fun to spend time in Hillary's company, and the secondary characters are also convincingly portrayed. I enjoyed the central mystery and the Oxfordshire setting.
Didn’t realize this was a series - this is the third book I believe. Very enjoyable & will read more of Hilary’s escapades!
I love anything Hillary Greene and this book doesn't disappoint. I love that she's a strong, female character that others respect and lookup to.
A retired Cop Hillary is back solving cold cases. She believes her stalker is behind the disappearance and murder of 3 girls in the town. I didn't read any other books by her and I feel like that puts me out but I read the summery of the former books first.
Loved this book it was a cracking read, this series is getting better with each book. It was full of tension and suspense which kept me on the edge of my seat, hanging onto to every word. It had such a well constructed plot and I really like the characters in the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and don’t hesitate in giving it 5 stars.
I would like to thank Joffe Books Publishing and the netgalley site for this partnership.
In this fourteenth volume we find three young women who have disappeared and an evil stalker, but the cases may not be related at all. Hillary, who is recovering from an attack by the stalker, sees her boss close the case without further action. She's going to investigate cases that have never been solved.
A thriller read almost in one go with a captivating story filled with suspense and twists and turns. My first book by this author, eager to discover others.

This time Hillary has made her long-awaited come back, this was a masterful piece of work which kept me captivated till the end. The storyline is an absolute doozy and the characters are great. This book is vastly intriguing and very entertaining, to think she finally caught the pervert, who has been tormenting her, exciting closure. Entertaining and intriguing an ideal combination to keeping you glued to every page. The storyline is an absolute doozy and the characters are great. A must read and to all the Hillary Green fans, she’s at the top of her game once again, nicely done.
Faith Martin's books get better and better ... what a relief for fans to see that Hillary Greene is back, having retained her integrity in the process of being ousted previously. Although newcomers to Martin's Hillary Green books (this is the 14th) can certainly enjoy it without knowledge of the previous books in the series, the personal details and growth in characters and relationships do develop and interweave throughout all 14, so if you need an excuse to put your feet up and indulge, starting from the beginning is highly recommended. My only negative comment is that I think Hillary was best as a fully-fledged detective rather than a consultant and I'm not sure why Martin felt it necessary to change her role; and while Martin has done an excellent job of reconnecting her with old colleagues and storylines, some stretching of the imagination is required to believe that Hillary is still able to do what she does as 'just a civilian. Still - that's what fiction's for!
Another great story from Faith Martin.
Hillary Green was a DI in Oxford but after some troubles accepted demotion, then retirement. She is now a civilian working with the Oxford Police on the Crime Review Team, looking at cold cases, oh and she has a stalker.
While looking into missing persons cases, they suspect Hillary’s stalker maybe involved. There’s real depth to the character descriptions and those of her narrow boat, The Mollern. With great twists, turns, surprises, the great characters and even a teeny bit of romance, this is a thrilling read. I loved it and can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I would like to thank the Author/the Publishers/NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review
Another great read in this series with quite a few surprises along the way. The book could quite easily be read as a stand-alone but in my opinion to get the most enjoyment read them in order.
This is the first book that I have read in this series and I really enjoyed it. I liked the characters and the plot. I liked the relationships between the characters and the fact that it was an easy to read book. I will definitely be reading more books in this series.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
Thank you as well for introducing me to a series of books that is new to me.
Its helpful to have read the books in order as various plotlines weave through them. However, as long as you've read the previous book Murder of a lover (which ended on a cliffhanger) it's fine.
Hillary is still working in the cold case unit whilst recovering from the attack by her stalker. There are 3 missing women , has the stalker killed them all? DI Rhumer is quietly investigating Hillarys stalker who is jealous of her blossoming relationship with her Boss.
The characters are well written, even the annoying ones!
Its a really good series and I look forward to the next book.
Retired DI Hillary Greene now working on cold cases for the department is still recovering from the knife at her throat. She is trying to solve the disappearance of the 3 ladies her stalker gave her the names of in the last book. Her romance is going strong. The stalker is still out there. What to do about it? Hillary makes some break through tidbits that help her find out what is really behind all of the disappearances. Will she find bodies? Will she find out who her stalker is? Great read to find out.
I was excited to read this book as the last one was left on a kind of Cliffhanger. Due to the ending of the last book I would advise you read at least the previous couple before this one as it does follow on from book 13.
This book continues with the theme of Hilary’s stalker but takes it to a new level with him not only stalking her but also being linked to three other disappearances and murders previous, but are only being investigated now.
The book is a good read but as we know who the stalker is it takes something of the mystery away out of the book. This doesn’t detract though as we don’t know how involved he was in the other case, if at all, and also how far he will go with the stalking.
After the attack at the end of the previous book Hilary in this one isn’t working as well as she has previously, which is understandable considering everything, but I still feel that, considering she works in a police station, the stalker story line could have been closed in the last book at least.
There were enough twists in this book to keep me guessing throughout and it also held my attention, without me wanting to put it down and come back to it later, so overall I would recommend it and I did enjoy reading it.
I really enjoyed this book the plot and characters are done beautifully it keeps you guessing to the last minute
Murder Never Misses is a great crime drama. Enjoyed the plot and the well developed characters as well as the author’s writing. Mystery fans will enjoy this book.
Faith Martin just keeps on delivering with this series. How did we get to book 14? Another good read with excellent character development and a good plot. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy. Reviews on Amazon, Goodreads and Facebook.
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
This is no.14 in the Hillary Greene series and another quick page turner. I've read them all and once I start reading one, I know no housework will be done because I need to finish the book in one sitting!
Hillary is still reeling from her recent attack by her persistent, very scary stalker. But she's tough and an excellent 'thief taker ', she continues working despite feeling a little rocky. She's involved in the cold case of 3 missing, presumed dead, women, related to the mystery of the stalker. Can she solve the case and finally get rid of the stalker?
Former DI Hillary Greene continues working as a civilian for the Crime Review Team. Even though she chose to retire, it was not done without regret and she is still struggling to accept her new consultant role. Having a stalker isn't helping Hillary's state of mind either and until she can uncover his identity, she finds it challenging to keep fully focused on her newest case.
Her stalker is becoming more brazen and has sent Hillary proof that he killed three missing women. These cold cases become Hillary and her teams latest assignment, though the more she interviews family, friends, and employers, the more she feels she is missing something critical as the pieces are just not coming together. She fears she may have lost her legendary ability to solve cases and it is clear she is distracted by not knowing what her stalker will do next. Her growing involvement with her boss isn't easy either as Hillary is very much her own person who has been living alone for a long time. Can she solve these cases, unmask her stalker and find happiness in her personal life? No spoilers here, so you will want to read Murder Never Misses to find out!
I have enjoyed every book in this series, and this one was no exception. These aren't books that keep me up all night, but I do always read a little bit longer than I had planned as the stories always engage me. I am always rooting for Hillary to be successful personally and professionally and as usual, I was one step behind the author as she revealed whodunit and why. It is a very well written series and I would suggest starting at the beginning. If you like the first book, you will have many more to enjoy.
Thank you, Faith Martin, Joffe Books, and NetGalley for the complimentary digital review copy.
I was so happy to receive this book because after book 12 and 13 I hoped Faith Martin would no longer have her readers ask themselves what would happen with Hillary's stalker. And of course, we know now. We also know that the relationship between Hillary and Steve turns into a real one.
One of the strong points of these series is - and therefore also the 5 stars - that the books are rather short, or better: compact. No pages full of people who turn out not to be important for the story. No, you better remember the names you read because they all play a role, however sometimes a small one. This series is addictive!
Thanks Netgalley and Joffe!
