A bit of a slow start but then the storyline took off with twists and turns along the way. I enjoyed this book when the pace picked up and kept me enthralled until the end. I would definitely recommend this this novel and thank Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Book 2 in the Oonagh O'Neill series and it's a cracker of a read. At times, I had to stop reading and, at other times I couldn't get to the next chapter quick enough! The plot centres round the tainted blood scandal and jumps between 1975 and 2002. This is not a police procedural and very different from the usual thrillers in the genre. Sensitively written, thought provoking and a fantastic read with great characters. If you read one book this year, make it this one! Theresa Talbot is a very clever writer and this book is beautifully researched. My thanks to Net Galley for my copy. I loved it. Reviewed on Facebook and Goodreads with Amazon to follow.

Chief Constable Threadgold wants to go out with distinction. Thirty years on the job, he reopens a cold case that sent shivers through the community. He wants it closed and he wants it closed with all ends neatly dovetailed and a murder suspect taken into custody with a lot of publicity.

Things never go according to plan. Oonagh O'Neil smells something very rotten with the case. Three woman brutally murdered, the present suspect mentally disabled by her treatment both by omission and commission in the state sector, so many anomalies in the case, police procedure not followed, so much of missing evidence, a cold wall comes up whenever the case is mentioned amongst the force and now with pieces of the jigsaw puzzle appearing, piece by piece Oonagh is also confronted with her present witnesses being slowly eliminated.

She is however not one to give up and even though she knows she will be the next target she is determined to see that justice is done for the innocent young lives which were lost in this tragic story.

Bringing up very unsavoury facts in the health sector as well as in the medical laboratories of the time it is not a very pleasant unfolding of facts. The story holds you in its thrall because these things did happen, probably still happening and no one is the wiser.

A series of which I have only read one, I will be looking out for Oonagh O'Neil in the future.

This book kept me guessing for quite a while. There were so many twists and turns and the ending was definitely not what I was expecting.
The storyline is horrific and is based on true facts. A cold case comes across the desk of DI Davies and journalist Oonagh O'Neill is chasing down a good story. What has the cold case the Raphael Killings and meeting a woman who was accused of murdering her husband and drowning her child have in common?????
What they reveal is beyond apprehension and now they have the answers, what can they do next ?????
Miscarriage of justice, corporate greed, murder, abuse and corrupt public services. I read this book in one sitting. An excellent crime thriller.
I would like to thank the author Theresa Talbot, Aria and Net.galley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for giving an honest review.

This was a good read, though a little on the long side to keep me 100% engaged - however it was crazy and twisted in all the right ways! The plot was very well thought-out. I don't think that the fact that I haven't read any other books in the series detracted from my enjoyment of the book, however I do prefer to read series books in order - I may have to start from the beginning and come back to this one! 4/5 stars.

Didn’t realise this was one of a series but apart from a few missing threads of storyline it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book a fictional story based on true life events and scandal regarding blood harvesting and experimentation into HIV amongst others quite an ethical dilemma throw in the manipulation of a vulnerable woman and police corruption and this is a “busy” book. Not a nail biter for me but also not predictable and a very good read

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc of this book In exchange for a honest review.

This was my first Theresa Talbot novel and it won't be my last.

It was very well written and hard to put down.
It keeps you guessing till the very end and even then a few bits I was still trying to get my head round!
There are a lot of twists and turns and at times I thought maybe a few too many, you really need to keep concentrated to get your head round it all.

The blood scandal was truely horrific and has not been covered nearly enough . It was a great choice for the book and great to bring attention to Bruce Norvals story in the process.
Fast paced and extremely gripping.

Wow what a great second instalment in the Oonagh O’Neill and Alec Davies series. This one involved a cold case going back to 1975 where three women were murdered by the “Raphael Killer”, a woman incarcerated in a mental institute for murdering her pathologist husband and their son and a tainted blood scandal, what do they all have in common?

If that isn’t enough to get you interested…. dealing with so many tangled webs, will Oonagh/Alec get to the truth? I am not going to go into detail for fear of ruining the book for others but needless to say Theresa Talbot has a way of keeping you guessing and weaving the plots and twists that keep you on tenterhooks and wanting to devour the book.

I would highly recommend this to others who love Det series, this is certainly one to get your teeth sunk into, cleverly written and like no other!

I would like to thank Netgalley, Aria and Theresa Talbot for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Investigative journalist, Oonagh, is back on the job. A cold case of a murdered pathologist and his son, with the main suspect being his wife. How does this link to a spate of women murdered at the same time?

Oonagh is a fabulous character who will do what she can for justice. As with her previous book there’s an underlying thread of a story that links everything. Great read. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I was given an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book is fucking crazy and I love it. Definitely different than all the other thrillers out there. I don't even want to write about the pot because I don't want to spoil it – it's that twisted but it's so much fun – definitely not a cliché thriller. Also, I love how it's all Bill Clinton's fault

Well, I have soooo many thoughts about this book! I want to start with the ending...amazing! However, this book took way to long to be compelling. I think that with a “tits on the table” editing, this could, be not only a great book, but a great HBO, Netfiix, Showtime, or Paramount❤️series thingy!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book (from NetGalley). All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This one really kept me guessing for a while! "Keep Her Silent" has a multitude of meanings in this novel. With several timely twists, I found it a very well written and enjoyable book. Even the antagonistbcharacters were believable and somewhat relatable. I am aware that this is a work of fiction, but at one point, some of the information in this book seemed way too real-- which inspired me to research some of the topics. (I now believe that I will have to watch a related documentary that I discovered upon my wonderings. I love to acquire knowledge when I read, so this was a welcome momentary detour--what dark subject matter! Sadly it speaks volumes about our not-so-humane, human race.) Thank you to both NetGalley and Teresa Talbot for a an entertaining read--as well as quite a learning experience.

This is the first book by Theresa Talbot that I have ready. I would say that it is a good mystery with many unexpected twists that keeps you wanting to read to find out what happens next . Oonagh is an enjoyable lead character who you can invest in and root for and most importantly read more books about. Overall, a very good read and I would certainly recommend it.

Thank you to NetGallery for the opportunity to read " Keep Her Silent" by Theresa Talbot. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
I'm sorry to say I had a hard time getting in to this book. I have read the first book in the series so I know the main character, Oonagh. I find Oonagh can be a bit irritating at times and then I find her to be funny and very brave. Lots of twists and turns, mystery......
There is a lot of historical detail about a medical scandal which I found very interesting to read about. But, overall, I had difficulty focusing on all the elements in the book.

Keep Her Silent is less interesting for its plot than for the premise involving the tainted blood scandal in the UK. This horrific situation involved America, a Canadian drug company, and corpses from Russia. You really can't make this stuff up.

I wasn't as engaged with the murder plot or the characters (Oonagh was annoying), but truth is stranger than fiction in this situation--and that part of the story kept me engaged.

When a police investigation into the Raphael Murders is reopened, investigative journalist Oonagh O'Neil discovers more questions than answers, but her interviews and research cause her to examine the original investigation with a different perspective. She's often wrong-footed and her discoveries are almost stumbled on, but she eventually knows the murders were not what they seemed.

Can you imagine if your child was one of the Pups? "The acronym used was Pups – previously untreated patients. They were in effect being experimented on."

There are numerous articles online about the tainted blood scandal, but the corruption, greed, arrogance, and cover-up involved is sickening. Theresa May has ordered a new inquiry which may bring some semblance of justice.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Aria for an advance copy of Keep Her Silent, the second novel to feature Glaswegian journalist Oonagh O'Neil, set in 2002.

Oonagh has received a tip off about the cover up of a medical scandal in the 70s and 80s and while she's unsure about what she's being told she decides to pursue it. In the meantime her friend DI Alec Davies has also received a tip off and has been told to investigate. In 1975 the so-called Raphael killer murdered three young women, leaving biblical messages with the bodies, and then disappeared. Now a woman is insisting her dead father is the killer.

I thoroughly enjoyed Keep Her Silent which is a thrilling, engrossing read with some very interesting historical detail. Initially the novel didn't hold my interest as it constantly switches point of view and timeline between 1975 and 2002. I found it difficult to keep my focus as all these random and seemingly unconnected people and events are flung into the mix but, as the novel progresses and I got a handle on the narrative I was hooked. There is no doubt that by the rather inconclusive ending we are deep in conspiracy theory territory. It is cleverly done and well researched and certainly exposes another establishment/big business cover up of dirty, unethical dealings (which seems to be Ms Talbot's speciality) but it will be up to the individual reader as to how credible they find it. I certainly believe what is presented as fact to be true as it is too horrible to be anything else but am not so sure about the solution.

Oonagh is a great creation. She is smart and resourceful but decidedly fragile, having some self destructive habits. On the whole she is a lovely, generous person but she definitely exploits her friendship with Alec Davies to help her in her job. He is a hard working, grumpy detective with a soft spot for Oonagh and is complicit in her exploitation. They are a winning combination for the reader.

Keep Her Silent is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

Lovely thriller to read! I started this around 8 PM, thinking I would read a bit before bedtime.

Boy was I wrong.

I could not put this book down and I finished it in one go! Oonagh is a fantastic character! The story flowed beautifully and I am so eager to read more!
