I'm excited to read this book. Hopefully, it won't turn out to be a disappointment like Zenith was. I really did enjoy this sneak peek and as I said I can't wait to fully read it.
I received a sneak peak sampler of this book, and after a very short while I told myself I need to get my hands on the full version. From very early on your captivated by the author and her descriptions of this world she has beautifully created. I’m already intrigued by the characters and the family dynamic, and the all-fearsome Aric. Anyways, totally recommended, and I can’t wait to buy the full version of this book to see how the story progresses.
This is a review for a sneak peak at Seafire. Wow! Once you start reading the story grabs hold and doesn't let you go. The story line is compelling and interesting and unlike anything else I have read. And that is just from the three chapters available to read. Looking forward to reading the rest of the book.
SNEAK PEEK: Seafire is a stunning excerpt of the first in a heart-stopping trilogy by Natalie C. Parker. It highlights female power, as it follows the captain of an all-female ship pitted against a warlord's aggressive fleet ... and makes you hungry for more from the ever talented Parker. Highly recommended!

I know this is only a sampler but from what I have seen this is going to be AMAZING! It's girls and pirates and badarse women. can't wait to read the whole thing in just a few weeks.
The characters catch you right from the beginning; the struggle comes early, even as the reader starts feeling sympathy for the "bad guys," just as the main character does, to a horrifying end.
Seafire is a pirate adventure, at its least, and an intriguing look at family, girl power, and war. I wanted to read the whole book right there, but since this is a preview, I'll have to wait.
This is a special book -- kids and adults alike are going to love it!
I can't wait to read the rest of this!
In only a few short chapters, Parker has set up her heroine(s), her enemy, a possible enemy/love interest and given enough action to make me excited to keep reading. If it continues well, this would be a great read for fans of Princeless: Raven the Pirate Princess!
Loved this! Just got a sneak peek but the first few chapters were heart-breaking, gripping, suspenseful and VERY exciting. Think Pirates of the Caribbean with an all-female crew. Seaford takes girl-power to its best fantastical limits. I can't wait to read the rest!!!!
My Thoughts:
I really do not like to ask for sneak peeks only because I usually only choose books that interest me beyond the description. One example is the graphic novel Sheets that I reviewed as a sneak peek in May. I was enamored by the cover, the simple drawing style and just enough of the story before the preview ended. Still, I could not actually get a full copy until July so sometimes I forget that I am watching the calendar because I read so many other things in between.
However, Seafire is another one that I chose, not for the cover but for the pirate aspect. Like
the Bloody Jack series, I love me some girl pirates who take over. True, Caledonia is not the pirate. The pirates are the bad guys, however, there be pirate behavior and fights on the seas. I was also drawn to the epigraph on the cover:
Sisterhood is Survival
This one comes out at the end of August when school is started. I hope I remember to request it because the preview seemed frustratingly short.

Man this is worth all the hype it's getting! I normally get confused with nautical books or books that deal with airships or regular sea ships, since I don't know the terminology very well. But the author does an awesome job to help you picture everything that's happening so you're not lost. I also love the fact that this seems like an island fantasy world and the prologue is such a great hook! I can't wait for the full book to come out soon :)
This sneak peek consists of the Prologue and the first three chapters. It is merely a tease...
A strong, independent, female Pirate crew?!?! I love this! I was quickly bonded with Caledonia and felt I could understand her, feel her deep desire to demolish the Aric. She is the YA female heroine I have been craving in m bookish life. The development of characters and the plot are meticulously written. From this small snippet, you can tell the author has a gift with words.
Thank you so much to both NetGalley and Penguin group for allowing me to read this addictive sneak peek. I not only want the complete novel, but I need it!
Sea fire grabs you right from the beginning. I had the pleasure of reading the Prologue, and the first three chapters, and it was a complete delight. Wonder Woman meets Mad Max: Fury Road? It sounded interesting, but could the book really live up to the hype? I don't know, but honestly, if the book continues like the first few chapters, then I would have to say "yes. The book will live up to the hype."
I can't wait to read the rest of the book, and get to know the characters even more. So far, I can tell there are going to be some favorites.
A sneak peek is not enough!! I must know more! I love the idea of a strong female crew of pirates! I plan on checking out Seafire when it gets released.
I wanted to read this book and i couldn't decide it. But this sneak peak is amazing. I am going to read the whole book asap.
I liked the premise but for some reason this sneak peek and the storyline didn't manage to pull me in.
This book is so intriguing, and I can't wait to read the whole thing. I love the idea of a band of female pirates. So cool. I felt like this sneak peek wasn't quite long enough for me to get the tech or the world completely... I wish that the whole book would have been available. I guess I'll just have to wait. It will be interesting to see how the entire book holds up to the beginning.
The sneak peek for this book was a pleasant surprise and gave me a chance to see if this would be a book for me. I didn't know a ton about the synopsis other than the fact that it was clearly a book about ships and or the water so going in blind was interesting. I like the premise of the story but man do we dive right in.
I like the high stakes and the female heavy characters, but I'm not sure that it is going to be a book that I end up reading. The 'blossom' drug that's concocted reminds me a lot of Leigh Bardugo's Jurda and I didn't really feel attached to the story or characters within the first few chapters. Which does not mean that it's not a good story or well written, just not a story for me.
Holy smokes. Even though this is just a preview of the novel, I am in love.
These first few chapters are already filled with hardship, loss, and war. The writing is phenomenal and shows a movie in your head. I wish I didn't just have a preview and that I had the whole novel!! I'm already invested in these characters and story.
I didn't connect with the main character - I found myself skimming about halfway through the sneak peek. The author is clearly really into Mad Max and tried to incorporate that into the story, but I found it distracting hearing descriptions of the characters putting on war paint before a skirmish.
Based on the sneak peek, I wouldn't want to read the entire book - but your experience may be different!
I got this sneak peek for free from NetGalley, which has not biased my review in any way.
Parker clearly has a gift with words. I was on the edge of my seat within seconds, and I felt everything as Caledonia did. Her love for sailing and her family, her determination to take down Aric and the bullets, and her leadership in the face of danger shine so bright. I think I’ve found my new favorite YA heroine! Everything about this book thrills me and I can’t wait to be able to read the full novel!
