Didn't finished. Unfortunately this book didn't quite worked out for me as I quickly lost interest in this specific subject. Thank you for the opportunity
Worth a read, but not my favourite in its approach or presentation. Some interesting points and suggestions but personally I am cautious about any advice to restrict carbs. A thumbs up for reference to stress reduction/meditation though.
This is an interesting book that covers a ton of information about insulin resistance, as well as concrete and mental steps to overcome it. I like the different approach that Dr. Altshuler takes in how to address problems..
Be kind to yourself and don’t follow the advice in this book. The best way to lose weight is to eat less of what you like and exercise more! What could be easier. If you are studying nutrition then this book is for you. Lots of technical information that the everyday dieter doesn’t need to know. If you eat lots of fat and sugar and sit all day you will put on weight. If you look at what you are eating and say I’ll just eat half of that or I’ll eat treats (potato chips, puddings, sweet drinks and alcohol ) at the weekend eat sensibly (that is slightly smaller portion of your normal food) and go for a 10 minute brisk walk. You will loose weight with out making yourself feel like you are punishing yourself for being over weight.
The layout and approach of this book was confusing and I did not end up reading it beyond the first few chapters because the angle it took was just not relevant to me. It may appeal to a more niche audience.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I chose this book because read and enjoyed another book by Dr. Leonid Altshuler, “Happy and Healthy Again”. This book gave some helpful insight and new information. It was suggested that meditation can lead to weight loss. I had never heard that but it is another good reason to start meditating.

This book was confusing and difficult to follow. It has weight loss and psychological advice combined, but I felt like it's not presented in a tidy way- for someone with little medical knowledge it's difficult to read.
Also the advice given is not really easy to follow (especially cutting carbs) Why do I read a book on weight loss advice, if it's just telling me to cut rice first, then this, then that and stop altogether- if it was that easy!
To me it feels like this book has to be edited more. The chapters and content need some tidying up.
Initially, I was excited to receive the book, always hopeful to learn some new kernel of data that will revolutionize the way in which the human body loses weight. But, alas, that hope was quickly dashed with each page that I read. Although I learned a few new theories, there was no concrete help for someone that wished to burn fat.
The book was a quick read and I already removed it from my Kindle. I would read more from the doctor, if he expounded upon his theories.
