I really loved the idea behind this book, but the repetition got really old. Sorry, but that is the only reason this is not a 5 star read. I have NOT read any of the other books in the series but I am interested in finding out what happens next!

I did not enjoy this book that much. I just wasn't interested in the characters, and I'm really sad about it. I had high hopes that I would really enjoy this, and it just fell flat for me. I didn't care about the plot, the characters, I didn't care much about anything, and it was a struggle to get into this book. It was really predictable and while that doesn't normally bother me, with this one I didn't like that. I'm so sad about this.

Dr. Patience had one night with Officer Nash and never expected to go any further but it seems they got themself into a rut when she is left pregnant. On top of that while working she manages to witness a person dumping a body and now has a killer wanting to get at her. Nash and his K-9 will stop at nothing to protect Patience and his unborn baby.

This was such a great book I really enjoyed it. Loved how fast paced this book was from the very start. There was so much going on to the groom killer that seems to be connected to the series as a whole, then the lake dumping person that Patience witness, the romance that seemed to be blooming between Nash and Patiences and just family drama. With plenty going on there's not moment for breaks that you'll want to read from start to the very end. Good thing this book is fairly short with a little less then 250 pages so its a quick read. Overall pretty great book I really enjoyed it!

Patience was a K9 vet and worked at the K9 clinic but seen the communities animals also. Patience never backed down from a challenge and what might be her toughest one yet was no exception. Fifteen minutes after the positive pregnancy test she wondered if running away was such a bad idea. The town was in the midst of a criminal crisis. Patience worked closely with the Red Ridge Police Department-RRPD- as wella s the K9 training center which was housed at the clinic. There wasa local serial killer nicknamed The Groom Killer- he/she went after prospective grooms. The town had erupted into all out panic when the fifth and most recent groom-to-be was murdered. Patience was also an heiress to the richest family in the small town. As a K9 vet Patience prided herself on her steady hands and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. But ehr cool demeanor was gone. All for one night of great sex with the sexiest bachelor in town- Nash who was a K9 police handler of the RRPD. They often trained dogs together. They had made a promise that they would only have the one night together. Nash and his K9 partner Greta saved humans and Patience saved dogs and other animals. Nash had family issues as his father and step mom had died in an car accident five years ago and he was raising four of his half siblings. Another child/baby was part of his plans Patience was sure. Patience wondered if she would be a better parent than either of hers had been. Greta was the epitome of a family dog at home but a fierce K9 dog on the job. In many ways Greta had been Nash’s anchor these last challenging years. It was Patience’s night at the clinic to take care of the animals. She takes Fred- a dog who had surgery earlier to relieve himself which happily he does. It was two in the morning and Patience notices a boat on the lake and a man threw a female into the cold autumn lake water. Patience can’t help but make a sound of distress and the killer sees her and starts the motor of the boat. Patience grabs Fred gets him in the clinic locks the door puts Fred in his cage then gets under her desk in her office with her 45 gun then she calls 911. The man has broken into the clinic and is now trying to get in her office to kill her Then nothing but the sound of feet running off. The 911 operator told her Nash was there and as he soon knew she was pk he took off to the dock to try to catch the man but he gets away. But Greta did bring up the dead woman. They go to Greta’s as he has been ordered to protect her by her cousin Finn who is the Police Chief and the killer shows up there blasting away at her door but he again gets away. They decide to go to Patience’s cabin. She tells Nash she is pregnant and expects nothing from him as she know he is already raising enough kids. Then they find out they are having twins.
I loved this book. It was a great suspenseful hot romance. I loved the plot and the pace. I read this in one setting. I didn’t want to put it down. I loved patience and Nash together and how they interacted. I loved Greta and felt she really added to this book. I happily found nothing to criticize in this book. I loved how close Patience was to the RRPD and the K9 dogs. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

4 1/2 STARS!

Breathtaking excitement and danger from page one! With the next book in the sensational The Coltons of Red Ridge series, Geri Krotow brings us another Colton mixing it up with a K-9 officer. This series has been quite a mystery as we try to figure out who the Groom Killer could be, and each book adds to the intrigue. I really enjoyed connecting with Patience and Nash. They were very relatable and their story was a joy to read.

Just as veterinarian Patience Colton is realizing that her one night of passion with K-9 officer Nash Maddox has left them expecting, she witnesses a murder and the assailant comes after her! She's within a hair of confrontation when Nash arrives to rescue her. Life on the down low won't be easy right now when she has such monumental news to share with Nash, but getting her to safety is his first priority.

Nash might already have his hands full with family overflowing his house, but he never once thinks of voicing resistance to the thought of having a baby with Patience. Once they get this killer caught, in addition to trying to once and for all nab the Groom Killer, he'll be able to carve out a future with her.

Review by Amanda for Love Romance Books Blog

I was asked by the author for an honest review.

This is the first book I've read by Geri Krotow as well as the first book I've in the Coltons of Red Ridge series. You don't have to have read any of the other books to follow what's happening in this one, but I suspect there are previous characters that feature prominently in this book, and there were enough couples with babies to make me wonder if they all get pregnant.

One of the main storylines in this book seems to have started earlier in the series, and not everything is resolved at the end of this book.

Another book that I didn't know was part of a series! The series has a ongoing mystery involving the Groom Killer, but in this book Dr. Patience Colton witnesses a crime and the murderer knows that she saw him. Lucky for her, the daddy to her baby is on the Red Ridge PD and is tasked with keeping her safe until the murderer is found. Lots of romance and heat, suspense and dogs! I'll have to go back and read the rest of the series to catch up.

I loved this story. It had everything that I liked, likable characters, chemistry & hotness, suspense and most of all, a baby between the main couple. I don't typically enjoy when main characters have children outside relationship so this was right up my alley....
