In the most part, I enjoyed this very much - especially Leo's back-history and the whole dealing with his family. That part was heart ranching for me, but in other parts, the love story and all read like a fairytale. - something you read to a child at bedtime which I guess was the point, hence the title..

Christmas Scale : 3 of 5

Since I'm on the hunt for a christmasy book that gets me into the holiday mood I've come up with a Christmas scale. I figured that this book would have a bit more Christmas anything in this book but that really wasn't the case there was a bit of mention with an ice rink, a little bit of the Rockefeller tree but there wasn't much else to signify that it was the holiday season. So if your hunting for a christmasy book that'll give you all those holiday feelings this book isn't what you are looking for but if you like a good little contemporary romance then this book is pretty good. I would've liked to know more about Leo and his family which was just briefly brushed upon. There wasn't too much into details with it came to these characters it was really brushed on the surfaced I like to get to know the characters but what was available in this book was okay. The romance was pretty cute between the two. If you like a good Cinderella retellings you'll want to pick this book up. Overall it was a good book I really enjoyed it.

Leo finally made it to the chalet in Switzerland but no to meet his parents as they had died in a helicopter accident on the way to NYC to see him for the first time since they had given him up as a baby. But to meet his siblings and sit through the reading of their parents will. They had given Leo up thirty eight years ago. But it was at his biological parents- Salvo and Nicole Cattanco request that he was even here. Everything about this felt awkward and wrong. Then Noemi came to the door then said Leo ran and hugged him. She introduced Sebastian - his brother- and Leo could feel the animosity was rolling off him. He didn’t even step forward just the barest of nods of his head. As he grew up Leo had wished for a large family , he would have loved a brother and a sister but his adoptive parents had decided one was too much. He was never sure why they adopted him as they shown so little interest in him. He was now a business man,a CEO. He spent his life in difficult business dealings. Thus should be nothing to him. But this whole thing was unraveling a whole pile of emotions that he’d never acknowledged. Maybe they worried he wanted their money. Money he didn’t need or want. Leo so wasn’t ready for the crazy emotions of having a family. Guilt. Expectation, Judgement. He wanted to go but Sebastian laid a hand down firmly on his arm and said “ don’t go”, “Not yet “ he added ‘ you just got here” : Take a breath, take a moment.” The lawyer then showed up and told Leo he looked so like his father which was like a kick to the gut. The lawyer read the will and Leo was to run the jewel business for at least six months. Sebastian was very angry and the lawyer had assured him this is how the will always read as his parents believed they would find their eldest child. The lawyer reminded them if the will wasn’t adhered to the company would be sold and the money split between the four hundred shareholders. This was the first time since Leo was a child he felt totally out of his depth. Leo realized he didn’t know where his chalet was- where his PA booked him. He looked it up and started walking. He realized he should have called a car since it was all uphill to his rented chalet but he kept going. It was dark but the resort was in sight and he seen a lone skier on the slope when a car backfiring started the skier and they were off and couldn’t correct themself and rammed into a crash. Leo jumped the fence to make sure the person was ok and he saw it was a woman The woman was Annisa. For some reason she wasn’t afraid of Leo even inside her staff chalet .Anissa said it had been a year of limbo since she came crashing down the mountain, to the psychological pain of realizing pain of realizing her hopes of winning an international skiing championship gold medal had been ripped from her grasp. Then the emotional pain of her fiance and coach Alain dumping her. There was a hot attraction between Leo and Anissa. Leo said how about for one night they forgot everything and Anissa agreed. Leo made Anissa forget a whole year of being unloved and unwanted. Anissa was both a chalet maid as well as teaching instructor. She was determined to again be able to go for a championship gold medal in skiing. Leo and Anissa ran into each other again when Anissa was cleaning Leo’s chalet. Even though he is rich Leo prefers people with their feet on the ground. Then Leo has to go to NYC for business and takes Anissa with him, it’s Christmastime and Leo makes sure Anissa feels like a princess.
I really enjoyed this. I really liked the Cinderella aspects and romance. I really like how the author described the NYC sites and events. It was like I was with Anissa and Leo and I thoroughly enjoyed that. I liked the plot as well as the pace. I liked that Leo’s biological parents never gave up on finding him and they were determined for their children to grow a connection as family is important. This was a great romance. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

This was was a good quick read that I enjoyed. I found it a good escape book. I enjoyed the characters, and although the plot was was predictable, it was a book that I would recommend.

This one was cute enough, but admittedly not my favorite from Harlequin lately. Good writing, but the heroine fell flat for me. Still, it has some very swoony moments and was fun.
