I don’t have a lot to say about this. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t fabulous either. The premise was a little out there and the ending not completely plausible but it was also not the worst psychological thriller I’ve read recently.

Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

The Stranger Inside had such an interesting premise. Kimber comes home from a trip to discover a complete stranger living in her house, claiming she rented it to him. As she struggles to reclaim her home, she is forced to come to terms with her past and all of the mistakes she has made. This novel had plenty of plot twists, and the character development was top notch. Overall, a fun read!

A psychological thriller with an interesting premise. One night Kimber comes home to find out that a stranger has occupied her house, and this is not all. The stranger claims to know something about Kimber. Soon, Kimber does not know who she can trust and she is scared that some of her secrets may be revealed.

The story is told in past and present timelines, a concept I enjoy in thrillers. Sadly, I felt the story in this book dragged. I also had a hard time empathizing with the main character, and believing some of the things that happened in the story. I ended up putting the book away and not reading it till the end. It may just be that I have read a lot of thrillers, and is picky on what I like and what engages me.

Imagine coming home, but your home is not your anymore according to some stranger..... This sets the tone for a very entertaining read. Recommended.

Stranger Inside unfortunately had a few things that are deal-breakers for me when it comes to this genre, principal among them being a supremely unlikable protaganist.

This wasn’t a bad thriller, though I didn’t love it. The plot felt like something I’d read before and I was able to guess some, though not all, of the reveals. It ultimately landed as just okay for me. A good insomnia read, but nothing I would pick up again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #netgalley

Many people have a perfectly rational fear of an intruder breaking into their home, but what if a stranger moved in while you were on a weekend getaway? That's exactly what happens to Kimber Hannon in Laura Benedict's new novel, The Stranger Inside.

How would you react to a stranger living in your house? Would you be able to keep your cool when the police say this interloper has a right to stay because they were able to produce a lease agreement with your signature? If you think that you would not handle this situation well, then The Stranger Inside needs to go on your TBR list because you may well relate to Kimber dealing with this audacious situation.

Not only is Kimber worried about this stranger in her house ... to make matters worse, he seems to know something nefarious about Kimber's past. A secret she would rather keep hidden. If she pushes the issue of him living in her home, will he expose her? Does she dare risk finding out?

The Stranger Inside is a dramatic two-part mystery - there is that of the stranger in Kimber's house, and then there is her hidden past. Both mysteries are entangled and unraveled through a dual timeline narrative - one following the present, and the other exposing the past. Both storylines slowly reveal parts and pieces of these mysteries until they come together for the big reveal at the end.

The Stranger Inside will appeal to readers who have not yet tired of the suspense/thriller genre. Seasoned suspense readers may find this novel lacking in thrills and chills and a compelling twist. However, for those who have not "read it all before," this novel contains enough suspense to keep the pages turning.

I really wanted to enjoy this after reading the blurb, but I just could not get into it. It did not feel original. Did not finish.

I had chills while reading this book. Suspenseful in all the right places. Simply thrilling as this type of book should be. The surprises kept coming until the very last page! I love books that piece together the past and present as I try and put the puzzle together. A great read.

I was really hoping this book would've been better but alas this was yet another thriller that simply didn't take off for me at all. It was slow and not that thrilling at all. Maybe because I read too many thrillers and so in order for me to enjoy the genre it has to really wow me. But this wasn't that good at all.

predictable. average. would be better for someone who didn't read so much of the genre. but I read a LOT and as they say, there's nothing new under the sun.

This book, I’m sorry to say, was a disappointment for me. There were a lot of stuff that interested me. Finding a stranger living in your house and claiming that you rented the house to them yourself is not something that happens everyday after all. This alone was enough to grab my attention but the tension that the author built at the very beginning bore no fruit in the end.

I don’t want to go into details for fear of spoiling but generally speaking, this book started out engaging but with every chapter into the life of the main character, Kimber, and this man who occupied her house, it lost a bit of its climax until finally I was left with disappointment. One of the things that I loved was the storyline of the past, we had flashbacks to let us see something that happened in Kimber’s life, but that led to nowhere. At least nowhere I had hopes for. The characters all seemed very immature to me too which in turn made me feel completely disconnected from them. I know in thrillers you’re not required to like the main characters but I couldn’t find anything that interested me about Kimber and her life. And that, I believe, was the reason why it took me so long to finish this story.

I can say that the first half of this book was intriguing but the second half failed to live up to the expectations created from that.

This story starts out with a Kimber coming home after a weekend away to find the locks changed and someone else living in her house. The story that unravels held a lot of potential but unfortunately fell short for me. The plot seemed a little jumpy and as parts of her past get uncovered, my dislike of Kimber grew; she seemed to be a wrecking ball in the lives of anyone she had a 'relationship' with. It seemed as though the plot was a little disjointed, there were stories that overlapped but didn't really fit together and while the last "big" scene was action packed and tried to piece the whole thing together, the ending was pretty anticlimactic to me.

I will say up front, I just did not like Kimber. It really helps if you like the main character, you want to root for them, you want all their problems solved, you want them to get a HEA or at least what they deserve. I wanted to like her but I didn't. She grated on my nerves and by the time I was 3/4 through the book, I just didn't really care what happened to her. I did finish and I am glad I know the conclusion but I just wasn't a fan.

Great premise, main character returns from a trip to find someone else living in her home. I thought this would be a great thrilling ride for me But Kimber's character just devolved for me and I ended up not caring about her one bit.

2.5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for allowing me to read and review.

2.5 Stars

This sounded extremely intriguing and unique when I first picked it up and read the synopsis. However, I was expecting it to be more suspenseful and thrilling. Don't get me wrong, there was definitely tension and mystery, but I wasn't a huge fan of Kimber and I felt the story waned in the middle and end. Still, it was a decent mystery that I can see many enjoying.
