5 BUTTERstars for Avery and Gina !!!
WOW.... Avery, Woman.... this book is awsome ! Sorry, if this word aren't good to write rewiev, but I can’t find another, more adequate to describe how good this book is.
Gina and Ford story.... Ahh.. they both are so sweet...
In the begining I was affraid, that I won’t like this book. Today we all used to different POV in books. We like to read "I"... That's why "I-Marta" was wondering what kind of book Butterface will be...
Will I divine in this story, like I used to with my latest books ???
I though : okay Marta, let’s start, shall we ?
And WOW !!! I couldn’t stop... I read it all in one setting, feeling very mad at me, why I wait so long to meet Avery's writting...
When You read the blurb You might thought... Yes that's another story about some Cinderella... But You can be sure, You're very wrong.
Gina, our main Girl doesn’t want to wait for her Prince Charming. She knows what’s makes her worth, worth of everything, even if she knows that's she isn’t pretty.
And Ford.... this man is different. He isn’t bad boy, he's kind, protective and super hot. He's perfect for Gina, because he know how to fight for her.
They’re both amazing.
The most important thing in their story ???
Love can find You everywhere... even if we're living in the world full of cover magazines, where's everyone needs and wants to be awfully perfect....There’s always hope for ordinary people to find something more.
I love Butterface also because this book is not only about love between woman and man... this book is about loving Yourself, no matter what, because this is Your real life strenght.
Congratulations Avery Flynn You've done great job .
I adore this book but this title drove me crazy. Gina has been told her whole life she was ugly but had a nice body because she has a big nose. She is constantly bullied and the only person who stood up for her was Ford! So she has a big nose everyone is beautiful in there own way and I'm so glad Ford saw that. I can't wait for the next book and the next Harrriagan!
Butterface by Avery Flynn is the first book in her brand new series, The Hartigans.
Meet Gina Luca. She´s a wedding planner, a bit a loner and someday she could become a cat lady.
Ford Hartigan is a Detective with a crush on Gina. When circumstances bring them together, his dream is about to come true.
Butterface is a perfect summer read, a great rom - com with twists and unexpected turns.
Put a family with mob ties, a kiss cam, one main character who lives by the rules, a well deserved HEA; mix and stirr and you´ll get a very entertaining, well written book with characters I loved very much.
I give 4,5 stars.

My Review: I love, love, love Avery Flynn. Not only is she a super fun person, but her books are always a great read. I don't think I've read a single Avery Flynn book that wasn't a one-sitting read, because I just can't put it down. And long time readers of my blog will recognize her as one of the first authors that requested a review from me, back when I was just getting started! Ever since then, she's had me hooked.
I had so many feels while reading this book, guys. I think all women have some sort of insecurity (or a lot of them, like me!), so you can for sure empathize with Gina. And if you've ever been teased at school, you'll understand exactly how she feels. But Gina is a tough chick, and she knows looks don't matter - just being a successful and happy woman does. But hey, she's not going to turn down a kiss from Ford Hartigan, even if she is more than a little suspicious.
These two... Oh man. Even though you know it's all going to go bad before it goes good, you keep rooting for them. And it was such a joy to watch rule-follower Ford lose some of that stiffness when it comes to Gina. If I didn't have a huge pile of other books to read, I think I'd already be re-reading my favorite parts of Butterface. It was fun, it was sweet, it was heartbreaking, and then heart-healing.. Just what ever romance reader needs!
Cover Lovin': This cover is just so adorably pink!
Recommendation: You'll want more of the Hartigans immediately!
Final Rating: FIVE out of FIVE stars (5/5)!!! I absolutely could not put this down. I loved every second!

Every time I read a book by Avery Flynn I know I'm going to laugh and fall in love with the book. I always look forward to her books. She just has a writing style I love. This is another winner by Avery Flynn. I loved Gina. She's a every day woman that anyone can relate to. I could put myself in her shows a lot. I knew where she was coming from. I love the Flynn wrote a character like her because to see Ford love Gina for herself was truly beautiful. I couldn't help but fall in love with Ford. I mean that sexy cop had so many swoon worthy moments even right up until the end. This one was so entertaining that I didn't want to out down to other things I just wanted to gobble this book. I would highly recommend this one. Well I pretty much recommend anything by Avery Flynn because once you read a book by her you come back. She will become an auto buy author.
Avery Flynn is an author whose name I have heard on many occasions, with quite a few of my friends being a fan of her work. Despite the number of times I’ve heard the name, it wasn’t until I heard about Butterface that I decided to give one of her books a read.
The moment I found out about Butterface I knew I needed the book. It sounded like the kind of book I would adore, and I was more than willing to dive straight into the story. I went in expecting so much, with so many ideas in my mind, that it meant the story wasn’t quite what I had imagined. However, despite this, I had so much fun with this story.
It took me a couple of chapters to be pulled into the story, to come to believe in the chemistry between the two characters, but once things got moving I found the book impossible to put down. It was a book I had to finish in a single sitting, unable to pull myself away from the events that were occurring. I found myself constantly asking what would come next, desperate to see what new element would be introduced to the story.
I admit there were some predictable elements to this one, but there was enough entertainment thrown in that I was not bothered by the moments of predictability. I was lost to the characters and storyline, wanting more of the main characters and the side characters, more than happy to keep turning the pages so I received more of the good stuff.
The one thing I will say is that this book was not the rom-com I had been hoping for. It was enjoyable, there were a few amusing moments, but it was not the laughter-fest I had hoped for. Such has been the case with a lot of the books I’ve read recently that have been labelled as rom-coms, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to stop expecting laughter with such books. Either I’m setting my standards too high, or rom-coms are not as funny as they should be. Either way, despite the lack of belly laughing, I did have fun with this story.
There is no doubt in my mind that I will be grabbing the second book in the Hartingans series, as I’m more than willing to dive into more of this family.
I loved this story. It was sweet and funny and it was just all around endearing. The message spoke to me loud and clear and it was one of the things that made me love this book the most. The female main character is strong and despite being insecure at times, she owns her flaws and I love that about her. Oh and the chemistry she has with the male main character is just off the charts. I love them together. Their story is great and I really enjoyed reading about these characters and seeing their relationship develop. It was so much fun and I can't wait to read more in this series!
I really did enjoy this book, the first I have read by this author. The writing was exceptional and I loved the way the characters were written, the author has done an amazing job of bringing their personalities out so the reader can literally inhale them, they were that charismatic. A sweet, loving flirty story that I couldn't stop reading until the very end.
There wasn't one character I didn't like in this story. Ford was a darling and I so enjoyed the push and pull between him and Gina, I loved the exploration of their relationship, the laugh's it gave me, the odd tear it bought to my eye, the banter between all the family members of each lead character which added enormously to this wonderful light hearted story.
One little nag, I would have liked the author to have delved more into Gina's two brothers a little more, enhanced their storyline and plot, then this book would have been perfect.
This is book one in the Hartigan's series, I look forward to reading more about all these delightful colourful characters in the near future.
5 STARS FOR BUTTERFACE!! What a fantastic story! The story is full of humor, sexiness, sweet and a lot of heart. I loved Gina and Ford their story was amazing and will keep you flipping pages. This is book 1 in a new series and I can't wait for more. Avery Flynn has delivered a phenomenal first book in this new series. Do yourself a favor add buy this book.
Butterface

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was the first book by Avery Flynn that I have read and it will not be my last. I loved this book, she kept it interesting and wasn’t afraid to make a main character who wasn’t “a beauty”. I loved Gina, she was straight forward and honest, and wasn’t scared to stand her ground. And when that was mixed with Ford, their chemistry was off the charts. They both knew that they shouldn’t be attracted to one another but at the same time felt a connection that they hadn’t felt with someone else. I can’t wait to see what’s up next from Avery Flynn!
Gina has always known she isn’t a beauty, but she doesn’t let it stop her from her goals and doing what she loves. But when a kiss cam kiss turns into an unexpected spark, she wonders what if. But is there really something there, or is it yet again a joke.
Ford is known for following the rules, but when he kisses the wedding planner, she knocks him off his axis. But a kiss is all that it can be, because he is a cop and her family doesn’t necessarily play by the rules.
But of course fate would have it that they would be thrown together when her house becomes under investigation. Will they be able to keep their relationship professional? Or will they both throw caution to the wind and take a chance on one another?
An epically funny and heartwarming rom-com, Butterface will pull you in with a laugh, then hit you right in the feels. Gina is so very real, from her flaws to her insecurities to her problematic family, and Ford comes off cocky and charming until we see his own insecurities and meddling family.
Gina is a wedding planner, and she gets ambushed by a drunken bride’s kiss cam at a wedding with the hottest guy she’s ever seen. Way out of her league, because she was dubbed ‘Butterface’ in high school. But, not only does he seem eager to kiss her, when she lies to her overbearing brothers and announces that they’re dating, he backs her up without hesitation. And when she finds a body in the attic of the house she’s inherited, he insists on continuing the charade.
Ford is a Hartigan, and the only cop in a family of firemen. He’s the black sheep, to a degree, The not-charming Hartigan brother who bucked tradition. And when he’s ambushed by the kiss cam, and then in his hotel room, thanks to his troublemaking coworkers, he discovers that the pretty girl—despite her big nose—he’s been eying is a Luca, a family with ties to the local crime scene. A family he’s investigating, though Gina doesn’t seem to be at all involved with her brother’s’ schemes. So he seizes on her lie about dating and uses it to his advantage.
But it doesn’t take long hanging around with Gina to realize that she’s as sweet as they come, and more than a little spunky. She just might be a girl he’d want to be with...only they’re not together, and Gina is oddly resistant to him, despite all that they have in common, namely interfering, boisterous families.
When the truth about his motivations comes out, will they be able to move past it, or will that be their breaking point? Read Butterface and find out! A great debut to a new series, which will be especially appealing to any fans of Avery’s Harbor City series, as the first Hartigan made her debut in The Charmer. It’s also a must for any romance fans who have ever felt the way they look will impede their path to a happily ever after.
As soon as I read the blurb for Butterface, by Avery Flynn I knew I wanted to read it. The girl who always felt undatable. Could she ever have her happily ever after? Could a man really want her as she is?
My heart broke for Gina Luca. She is really stronger than she believes, but after being ridiculed for years, she feels undatable. Even so, she has found success as a wedding planner. She also has the home she inherited and her best friends. Life is good for now. But when at a wedding, she finds herself kissing the most handsome cop in the Waterbury Police, Ford Hartigan.
As Ford found himself kissing the woman next to him at the wedding, he was rocked by the sparks that flew between them. It was so intense. Ford has always been the type of guy who follows the rules, but Gina tests everything he believes in. When he offers to protect Gina, he may not have been completely honest with her. The more time they spend together, the stronger the chemistry. Will she forgive him when she discovers the truth?
I truly enjoyed reading Butterface by Avery Flynn. It was such a sweet and charming book! I loved the story and characters so much. These two were so good together. I can’t wait to read more from this series!
Loved this book, I cannot believe i have never read anything by this author before. Such a fun book to read, and seriously romantic as well. Is he with her for her brother or for herself? When you have lived with that self doubt i can understand why it would be hard to know if someone really likes you. But you know what those things can provide us with the best relationship development and it certainly did in this book. I laughed, I swooned so hard and i was nervous for these characters. Truly fantastic book.
4.5 Fun, Refreshing, Steamy Stars!
What a fun, refreshing start to The Hartigans series! I loved this forbidden romance between a sexy detective and the daughter from a family who-never-met-a-law-they-didn't-want-to-break. Ford and Gina had the most awkward meet cute that set the tone for this hilarious and quirky story. They have instant attraction and fiery chemistry, but to protect her family, Gina walks away. Ford wants nothing more than to take down Gina's family. But now that he has met Gina, How can he have both? I loved both Ford and Gina, from their witty banter, to how they see past all their imperfections, to their steamy passion, they are perfect together. There are so many laugh out loud moments, but many sweet and heartwarming moments as well. Their family and friends are all intriguing and wonderful characters adding to the fun and rounding out this story. This romance was so endearing, it captured my heart and had me totally engaged from start to finish. I definitely recommend this must read romance!
Butterface by Avery Flynn. This is Gina Luca and Ford Hartigan’s story.
This was a fun and steamy romantic comedy with a few tears too. Gina and Ford’s characters and their interactions were amazing. I loved that I could feel how much Gina and Ford cared for each other.
Gina has a great figure but is no raving beauty. She has been teased and laughed at all her life about her big nose. Gina plans weddings but never expects to plan her own wedding.
Ford and Gina meet at a wedding. Circumstances keep throwing them together. There were so many obstacles for Gina and Ford to overcome but I loved how the author pulled everything together. Will Ford be able to see the real Gina? Will they be able overcome all the obstacles and find true love?
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this book. A fun romance with a lot of heart, and a sweet, sexy romance with lots of chemistry and swoon.
Gina Luca grew up knowing that she wasn’t attractive. She endured teasing, taunts, stares and heartbreaking ridicule as she was christened ‘Butterface’, which set the stage for her to not expect romance and come to accept the single life.
Butterface. Why? Because her body was okay, “but her face?” Not so much.
She has created a good life for herself, and is building her wedding planning business, and it’s at one of her weddings when she is caught on the kiss cam with one of the hottest men she’s seen – detective Ford Hartigan – who kisses her like he means it, sparking a chemistry that surprises them both.
Ford is a strong, straight-laced, by-the-book police officer. He is dedicated to his job and doesn’t have time for much else in his life, but the kiss he shared with Gina at a colleague’s wedding put him into a spin. And then he learns that she is Gina Luca - sister of the two Luca brothers who have ties to an organised crime ring and he is on a taskforce to bring them down. So not only is she not his usual type, but she’s now completely off limits… until his Captain asks him to stay close to her to see if he can get an ‘in’ for his case.
It may not be the most honest of set-ups, but the chemistry is there and Ford is only too happy to force himself into Gina’s life under the pretence of ‘protection’, moving into her inherited Victorian disaster, helping her out with her renovations, and becoming a part of each other’s lives – giving them the perfect opportunity to get to know each other.
OMG, the sexual tension between these two is off the charts! They want each other badly, and while Ford tries to keep his distance to avoid breaking the rules, Gina knows that the sexy-as-all-hell detective couldn’t possibly want her. My heart broke for her, all that she has endured, and her belief about herself, but rather than wallow in low self-esteem, she acknowledges it, and just carries on with her life, and though I hurt for her, I couldn’t help but admire her courage.
“What, do you think people believe this is some lame romantic comedy where the hot guy falls for the ugly chick? Newsflash, I don’t wear glasses, so there’s no taking them off and then suddenly I’m a total babe and believably your girlfriend.”
People are unspeakably cruel, and I was shocked at the taunts and ‘jokes’ that are made towards Gina, but Ford saw past outward appearances and Gina’s perceptions of herself, to the smart, funny, warm and bright woman that she is, and despite his intention to keep things professional between them, I loved watching him begin to fall.
She did a little shimmy dance move, threw her arms in the air, and turned to face her brothers and Ford at the table with a smile that lit up her whole face.
Maybe there was some asshole out there who could look at her and not return her grin. Ford was a dickhead, but he couldn’t stop the end of his lips from curling upward.
And when they finally reach breaking point…. Holy damn the sexy time is seriously steamy!
He kissed her like a man who believed that if he did it right, she’d forget that anyone had ever called her awful names or made her feel like she wasn’t everything a man could want.
But despite how much they want each other, there is still so much standing in their way – Ford’s job and Gina’s family ties to organised crime, on top of her personal issues, and Ford’s inability to handle all that he is feeling and his complete cluelessness when it comes to dealing with it all. It’s going to take a whole lot of soul searching for them to figure out what they want and then find the courage to go after it.
“You’re gonna break me, Ford Hartigan,” she said, her voice ragged and her back still to him.
“I won’t. Trust me.” And he meant it.
This is a really sweet and fun read. There are aspects of it that are really sad as we get an up-close look at all that Gina has gone through, and I did wonder if the author took it a little too far at times? But if her goal was to show Gina’s strength in overcoming all she’s been through and Ford’s heartfelt realisation of his feelings for Gina despite her perceived “flaws”, then that was accomplished.
“I wish you saw the woman I see when I look at you.”
I really enjoyed these two as characters. Their journey was realistic and heartfelt with loads of chemistry, and their love story was just gorgeous. I could feel everything between them, and loved seeing them fight their way to their HEA.
This is the first book in the Hartigans series, and it introduces us to Ford’s loud, brash, and in-your-face family, and I’m keen to get to know more of this wild clan – starting with eldest Hartigan, the hilarious Frankie, and Gina’s outspoken friend, Lucy in Muffin Top .
3.5 stars.
Um, so this book was absolutely amazing!! Let’s start with the adorable cover. It really draws you in. The characters come next, and that’s my favorite part!! Ford and Gina were perfect. Their chemistry was hot, their hearts were hopeful, and their fate to be together, was beautiful. I’m DYING to get my hands on the next book, because I need more!! Everyone needs to read this book!!
