I learned a lot reading this book even though I did not agree with all of the author's arguments . As more people move from rural areas to the cities and begin eating more like Americans they are experiencing health problems. While they lose some of the traditional foods, high end Mexican food is being served at restaurants around the world. The writing is good and the author has a real passion for the subject.
While the content can become a bit dry at times, Galvez thoroughly examines and discusses a very important and scary trend happening in not only Mexico, but many other countries around the world. The health of citizens in Mexico and the United States has been on a decline the last 20 years and Galvez researches the causes behind this frightening trend and contemplates the future trajectory.
