This one really wasn’t for me. It was not what I thought was going to be. That is why I can’t give it 5 stars!
Synopsis:
Veterinarian Wade Roberts is done with love. But try convincing the elderly folk of Cape Harmony who are determined to play matchmaker. Now the young single women in town are bombarding him with baked goods and love notes, and being "taken" is the only way to stop the meddling grannies--which is why he needs a fake fiancée. Fast.
Arden Pearson loves planning weddings. Other people's weddings, that is. After her own engagement ended in disaster, she prefers to live vicariously through her work. But when she needs to persuade a big client that she's capable of planning the celebrity wedding of the year, she's willing to go as far as pretending to be engaged herself to her best friend's older brother.
Soon their ruse has everyone in town believing they make the perfect couple--including Arden. She's always been nothing more than a kid sister to Wade, and it might take a village to convince him otherwise...
Each book in the Accidentally Yours series is STANDALONE:
* Bargaining with the Boss
* Catch Him If You Can
* Romancing His Rival
this was such a cute book! the main characters had great chemistry, and the secondary characters added some great texture to the plot. Can't wait to read the next in the series.
*ARC kindly provided via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.*
What a sweet and sexy story! Wade and Arden are so cute together. I really enjoyed their story!!
Wade is a vet in a small town. He lost his wife 4 years ago, so now he’s focused only on his work. However, the town old ladies have other ideas and are plotting a matchmaking scheme to find him a wife. Arden is a wedding planner. She didn’t get her happily ever after, so she does everything to give it to other couples.
Wade and Arden knew each other for quite a while. She’s his little sister’s best friend. Arden always had a crush on him but never acted on it. A series of events bring them both in need of a fake relationship and that’s when they make a deal.
Even though neither of them admit it, there are feelings pouring through the pages. It was so good to see them both finally coming to that conclusion and actually admitting whay they really feel!
The story is suitable for a nice afternoon read, with not much drama and full of feel-good moments!
I enjoyed this book more than the first in the series, which I hadn't been able to get into. This was a cute, quick read though.
So, what can I say about this one?
Well, for starters...it belongs to the "best friend's brother" trope as equally as it does "friends to lovers", but either way you label it, it comes down to one simply phrase for me...I LOVED IT!
No, really. It was fantastic! Once I started, I couldn't put it down. I loved both of our leads, the predicaments they each find themselves in, how they attempt to win at the game of love on their own terms...and how they ultimately fall under its spell, for better or worse. (Get it? For better or worse...she's a wedding planner... *giggle*) It has so much going for it and then some!
Wade was such a sweetheart, and despite being scarred by love at an early age, he still has compassion, warmth, and more heart than some men with half his life experience. Just because he doesn't THINK he can ever love again, doesn't mean it's any truer than Arden's apparent repulsion of long term relationships. Oh she wants one, or rather did once upon a time before she was jilted at the altar, but it always seems that the one's SHE wants, end up wanting someone else. Sad really because Arden is truly a gem more than worth her weight in gold with a romantic heart hidden beneath the customer pleasing business woman exterior she's so carefully crafted after "the incident". Add in the crazy-but-well-intentioned ladies of the town playing matchmaker, over zealous (jealous and suspicious!) newbie's just looking out for the local organizations (yeah...riiiiight), celebrity power that brings an extra level of shine (and crazy!) to their already colorful charade...and you've got a story TOO GOOD TO MISS!
Not a bad read. Sweet with that little bit of holding on. Not sure I’d go as far to say I loved it. There was a lot of things I either didn’t understand the need for, or just didn’t know why it was put in there. All in all good afternoon read
The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are descriptive and detailed, and really pulls this read together beautifully. Could not put this book down and I really excited to see what this author brings out next. Totally recommend to all book lovers out there
Arden and Wade are thrown together to hide from the matchmakers of the town. Arden's snark is fun and also a defense mechanism. She's had a crush on Wade since they were in high school. Wade has kept Arden at arms length due to a promise he made his sister when they were younger.
I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end. Arden and Wade were meant to be. From their fun banter to their undeniable attraction to each other. The connection leaps off the pages.
If you enjoy a fun and quirky romance that will leave you with a content and warm heart I highly recommend reading Catch Him if You Can.

This is a SWEET romance, so if you're expecting some heat you'll be disappointed. The story isn't bad and the writing is pretty good. My only complaint is repetitiveness. The characters thought the same exact thing about themselves over and over and over. It got to the point that I just skipped pages. Otherwise, it wasn't too bad.
3 - 3.5 stars
This is such a cute book.
It's a clean friends-to-lovers fake romance, with animals and weddings and unabashed love of the colour pink. It's cosy and happy and filled with good people who do nice things.
It's the story of Arden, a wedding planner who has been gun shy since her own fiance left her at the altar, but who needs a new fiance to shore up her struggling business. It's also the story of Wade, widowed young and heartily sick of their small town playing matchmaker.
If any of the above appeals to you, pick up this book and snuggle in.
My only complaint is that it felt like there were bits of plot that were left hanging that could've been chopped to give me more cute animals and job-based characterisation.
Four and a half pink stars
I received an ARC from Barclay Publicity, but my opinions are my own.
In order to save her business as a wedding planner, Arden Pearson needs a fiancé quick. Luckily, there's someone that needs her just as much to stop the women of their small town from matchmaking. When Wade agrees to be her fake fiancé, Arden soon finds herself in trouble since falling in love was not part of their deal. Will Wade ever come to feel for Arden the way she feels for him or is their relationship never ever going to be more than fake?
What an absolutely entertaining, fast-paced, marvellous read Ms. Shirk has delivered in this second book of her Accidentally Yours series where the main characters were compelling; the dialogue was a wonderful combination of intense moments due to the main characters back stories and playful banter that had me loving these two together; and the obstacles these two faced to be together had me reading quickly, determined to discover whether they'd be able to overcome them since Wade has already had a great love and Arden is his second chance. Will he be able to let go of his past to be with Arden?
With the characters, I loved both the main and secondary ones because everyone wants Wade to find happiness again and isn't afraid to matchmake for him. Really, the matchmaking efforts of the secondary characters are amusing, especially with the way this story starts and I could understand why Wade would do anything to put a stop to everyone's efforts, even if he has to resort to a fake relationship with his sister's best friend. While the heroine, she's been through tough times when it comes to her career and I could understand why she's desperate for Wade's help. Will Arden and Wade be able to pull their fake relationship off?
As for Arden, she's resilient, courageous, hard-working and I liked the endearments she and Will called each other. I also liked the close friendships she has with Wade's sister and their other friend Elena, especially when things happen and they need each other. While Wade, I couldn't help but sympathize with him because of things that happened in his past that make him afraid of giving happy ever after another chance. How does he know that he won't lose someone else he loves? However, I liked that he was willing to help Arden in her time of need. Really, he's a good guy that would do anything for those he cares for.
Overall, Ms. Shirk has delivered a fantastic read in this book where the chemistry between Arden and Wade was powerful; the romance was on the sweet side; and the ending had me loving how Wade makes things right between the pair. Deals are made to be broken and struck again to be bigger and better. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, as these two are definitely meant to be. I would recommend Catch Him If You Can by Jennifer Shirk, if you enjoy the sister's best friend trope, the fake relationship trope, or books by authors Sonya Weiss, Victoria James, Tara Sheets and Coleen Kwan.
Absolutely adorable!
Catch Him if You Can is a sweet and sexy fake relationship, friends-to-lovers romance. Both Arden and Wade have reasons for believing a romantic HEA is not for them--widower Wade because he already had his HEA (they're one per customer, obvs ;) ) and wedding planner Arden because her own wedding found her left at the altar--and each has their own reasons for "needing" a fake relationship, their agreement seems to be a perfect solution (Wade's reason is a little more believable than Arden's, but neither is too much of a stretch--plus, the opening scene at Wade's vet clinic is truly LOL. The poor guy...).
But we all know how "perfect" it's going to end up being, right? Yep, that's what I thought. ;)
Catch is the second book in Ms. Shirk's Accidentally in Love series (the first is Arden's BFF/Wade's sister Kinsley's story) but it worked just fine as a standalone. Bargaining with the Boss has been on my TBR pile for a while, though, and the glimpses we get here of Kinsley and Damon will likely bump it up the list.
Now--how about Elena's story? ;)
Rating: 4 stars / B+

I have been a fan of Jennifer Shirk since I read my first book of hers. Catch Him if You Can did not disappoint. How can you not love a geeky hero who is a vet?!
Wade lost his wife and has closed himself off to everyone. The town ladies are trying to throw women at him so that he will start living again and be happy. There were some cute scenes when he figured it out and was upset with the little old ladies.
Arden is a wedding planner with her own love troubles. She is convinced that no one will choose her for the long term. She throws herself into her work to make the best possible wedding experience for the brides.
I typically do not like stores where they are faking an engagement and the entire time you are waiting for a big blow up. This fake engagement was very well done. Wade and Arden have been friends since high school. So their time together and the developing relationship were not forced. It flowed smoothly.
Jennifer made several decisions with the characters that were not typically of the romance genre and I was thrilled. For those of us who read a lot you love it when the author does not take the stereo typical approach. This is just another reason that Jennifer stays on my must read author list.
This book is published by the Entangled Bliss line. So the physical scenes are all behind closed doors. You know they occur but there are no details.
Sex – 2 chemistry, behind closed door sex,
Violence - 0
Language - 1 damn 10 times
Drugs/alcohol - 1 I think there was a couple mention of drinks but nothing that stood out
This was a nice read. This is a "clean" romance, and I usually like a little more spice in my stories. The writing was good though, and kept my attention right from the start. I thought Wade and Arden had great chemistry, and made a very believable couple. I liked the secondary characters, and felt like they fit well into the story. The ending was great, and I would love to find out what happens with Elena. This was a first for me from this author, but I will definitely be reading her again.

Catch Him if you Can by Jennifer Shirk is Book 2 in the Accidentally Yours series. I haven’t read, book 1, but there was sufficient information included in this book that I didn’t feel I’d missed anything.
Wade Roberts is a widower who is done with love. However, the town decides he’s not and so they implement a plan to send all the eligible women sent his way. He is inundated with women and their pets who need his veterinarian services all of a sudden! He is desperate to make it stop!
Arden Pearson is struggling to have her wedding planning business prove successful. Unfortunately, her own engagement ended in disaster! But she has the potential to plan the wedding of a huge client, if only she was also engaged!
Wade and Arden both decide that pretending to be engaged would solve their issues! They have known each other for years as Arden is Wade’s sister's best friend. Now they have to pretend to have chemistry, but perhaps there’s less pretending needed.
This was a fun, quick read. A perfect book to read beside the pool, on the beach or under a tree in the shade with a glass of wine. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!

Another good read from author Jennifer Shirk.

This book is exactly what a summer read should be! A quick funny yet romantic story about a man (Wade) needing a fake fiance to get his small town off his back. But he doesn´t realize the woman he chose has her own issues and is someone who use to have a crush on Wade. I immediately liked Arden. This was such a cute story. From the first sentence to the last page I was emotionally involved in the outcome. I can´t wait to read the first book in this series. This author has a really great way of telling a story.
Unfortunately this was a DNF for me. I had trouble connecting with the characters and I really didn't feel the reason behind the need for the lies. It made sense logically but not emotionally. I also got a little tired of them explaining (time & again) to themselves why they couldn't acknowledge their attraction.
I liked it. This is a sweet and fun second chance romance where the girl gets the guy she's been crushing on since she was in high school. It's clean. While there is a little talk about sex, there are no actual sex scenes or cursing that I can recall. It's a perfect beach read.
I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review
He needs a fake girlfriend. She needs a fake fiancé. What could possibly go wrong? In Catch Him if You Can, the second book in the Accidentally Yours series, Arden Pearson and Wade Roberts are going to find out faking it never felt so good or real.
Catch Him if You Can is my favorite book Jennifer Shirk has written. From start to finish, the book had me either smiling, laughing, or sighing. Jennifer has written a friends-to-lovers, sibling/best friend, fake relationship story that’s easy to fall in love with.
Wade Roberts lost his high school sweetheart, wife, and the love of his life to cancer four years ago. Since then, he has convinced himself that he’s happy being single and alone. He doesn’t date because he doesn’t ever want to feel the pain of losing someone again. Too bad for him, a few older ladies in his hometown of Cape Harmony have decided to find him a girlfriend. After Wade receives more food than he can possibly eat on his front porch and his vet office is inundated with single female pet owners, he knows drastic measures are required. In a moment of weakness, Wade announces he’s dating his sister’s best friend, Arden.
To say Arden is shocked to learn she’s in a relationship with Wade is an understatement. She has no desire to help Wade out by pretending to be his girlfriend. In fact, Arden has no intention on being anyone’s girlfriend, after her own happy ever after came to an end in a humiliating fashion. But in order to plan the wedding of the year for a very connected client, and save her business, Arden needs a fiancé FAST.
From the first sentence, I know I was going to like Catch Him if You Can. From the moment Wade and Arden started interacting, I knew I was going to love the story. These two love to push each other’s buttons and it makes for some really fun back and forth banter. Their fake relationship quickly turns real, but these two refuse to acknowledge their feelings to each other, much less themselves. To everyone around them they appear to be truly happy and in love. At a certain point, I thought the story would be predictable. I’m happy to say it wasn’t. Jennifer has written really good characters and scenes that stand out.
There is at least one more book in this series. The heroine has been revealed to be Elena, the third friend in Arden and Kinsley’s trio. The hero remains to be a mystery, but I do have my suspicions. I’m looking forward to the next book.
