Holy crap. I really enjoyed this. It was really good. I am hoping for another book in this series. The confessions (both inner and to each other) were kinda cheesy, a bit too much so. But I still really enjoyed it. The couple made me happy.

This book is sweet and clean – there is no cussing and any sex happens off-screen. If those things bother you, there's nothing to worry about here.
Although this is the second book of this series, you do not have to have read the first book to read this one – it completely stands alone. That said, you should read Bargaining With The Boss because it is fantastic.
Jennifer Shirk is quickly becoming my go-to author when I need a pick me up because she can flat out write a swoony, funny, and sweet love story. Although I enjoy books with sex in them, it's always impressive to me when an author can make a story that is so great and so well written that it doesn't need sex scenes to make the story a good read. Ms. Shirk is really awesome at that – her stories don't require sex to be excellent.
After reading Bargaining With The Boss and seeing these two interact, I could not wait for Wade and Arden's story, and Ms. Shirk did not disappoint. The antagonistic, bickering relationship that the two of them shared in the first book carries on in this book, but it is in an affectionate and endearing way. I loved the way that they purposely wound each other up, but that it was out of affection and never reached the point of being hurtful or hateful. Even the big “conflict drama” that happens between them isn't vicious or over the top, it's organic and makes it sense within the story, which I appreciate as a reader.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fake-relationship story, a friends-to-lovers story, and or just a sweet love story between two really likable characters. You just cannot go wrong with a Jennifer Shirk story.
This book captured my interest from the beginning. A hunky veterinarian was intriguing. Then bring in a beautiful wedding planner and I knew this was a story right up my alley. Jennifer Shirk writes well developed characters. They show deep emotions and their humor. I look forward to Elena's story.
I received an advance copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions above are my own.
Another great book from Jennifer! I loved this story, fun, romance and wedding hi-jinx! What could possibly go wrong with the towns most eligible bachelor who happens to be a Vet and the local wedding planner now trying to live down a wedding where the groom decided to leave the altar and ex pat to the Bahamas. Poor Arden. Wasn't like her Magic 8 ball could have predicted that. When Wade arrives at work on Saturday morning to a waiting room full of single women with any sort of pet imaginable, he knows something is up, his office help snickers assuming he knows he's the talk of the town and the owner of the town coffee shop who fancies herself a matchmaker and rules the towns facebook chatter, decided that Wade needs to date. Since he's been widowed for 4 years, he's still not willing to put himself out there. Meanwhile he's angry, goes to the coffee shop to tell her to cease and desist, behind him in line is Arden. Arden thinks it a bit humorous, but doesn't quite get the morning he's had. Wade is Arden's best friends older brother. Arden always had a crush on Wade in high school but when he met the girl he who later marry, Arden tossed that one. Arden has her own history too, being left at the altar. Arden is now helping his sister plan her wedding. Wade has to think fast on his feet so tells a tiny fib about he and Arden dating, which escalates when Arden has a VIP bride who she really needs for her business to pick up and tells the mother of the bride she's engaged... to Wade. Let the games begin!
What a great story and how fun, romantic, a splash of crazy and a couple of oops moments all at the same time. Absolutely had a good time reading this one!
*arc from NetGalley and Entangled for an honest review. All thoughts are my own*
“This will be a piece of cake. Look how great we’re getting along already.”
She glanced at her watch, then back up at him. “It’s only been fifteen minutes, Wade.”
This was a really sweet, really fun book. Catch Him If You Can is the second book in the Accidentally His series by Jennifer Shirk and just as enjoyable as the first.
Wade and Arden have chemistry and a need for a fake relationship, and it’s funny and a little heart-breaking watching them navigate that. Wade’s status as a widow adds a little depth to an otherwise light-hearted read, and also makes the pay-off that much greater and more rewarding for the reader.
Ms. Shirk has become something of a go-to author for me when it comes to cute, blissful reads. She doesn’t ask too much of your achy emotions, but gives back all you could want in the way of good feels. Highly recommend.
“Happiness doesn’t last forever.”
“Life doesn’t last forever. We all know that. So, shouldn’t we grab onto and hold whatever happiness we’re given?”
"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."
Loved this book very much. It had just enough comedy & sweet romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
This book was so cute! After reading a number of mysteries/thrillers lately I was really in the mood for something light and sweet and Catch Him If You Can was exactly what I needed. I found myself smiling through the whole book.
I love a good fake relationship story and Jennifer Shirk always does a good job with them. I thought the circumstances leading up to the relationship were humorous, especially the small town matchmakers that were driving Wade crazy. I would’ve like maybe a couple more awkward, fake-dating moments before the relationship started to become more real, but overall I thought it developed at a good pace.
I thought Wade and Arden were both really likable characters. They both had a good sense of humor and I enjoyed all their scenes together. The secondary cast of characters were all likable, if not exactly memorable. I also really liked seeing Kinsley and Damon from the previous book.
Overall, I really enjoyed Catch Him If You Can. I always enjoy fake relationship stories and this one was so cute and exactly what I wanted it to be. It was humorous and sweet and the perfect weekend read. I definitely recommend it to fans of Sweet Romances.
Overall Rating (out of 5): 4 Stars
Wade Roberts is the town's hot vet. His wife passed away a few years back and now the town matchmakers are making his life hell. The single women are lining up and his life is turning into a circus.
Arden Pearson is a wedding planner and best friend to Katie, Wade's sister. Every hear that saying "Those who can't wed, plan." Well that is Arden's motto. She is committed to her job as a wedding planner and has no room in life for another broken heart.
When fate intervenes Wade and Arden both come up with a plan to be fake engaged. This gets the match makers off his back and Arden gets her big client. But what happens when one of them starts to believe it is real?
This book was hilarious fun. The banter between Wade and Arden is so much fun to read. These two had me in stitches. These two characters felt real and it was easy to become invested in their story. Not to mention they are pretty hot together.
"Arden please, it's too early to make me follow the bread crumb trail. Just take me to Grandma's house already."
This is the first book by Jennifer Shirk that I have read and I have to say that I really enjoyed her writing style. She mixed humor, romance and broken hearts to create a wonderful story full of fun and entertaining characters. Her story flowed smoothly and at a steady pace. I never once felt like she was rushing it. This light-hearted read is sure to make you smile. A true feel good romance.
So if you are looking for that Hallmark moment, then this book is for you. A romance to fill your heart with joy and sunshine. So grab a copy today.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by Jennifer Shirk and I’m scratching my head as to why because she always delivers a light, engaging romance with endearing characters. Even more so when the couple in question are a Doctor Who loving, bespectacled, widowed veterinarian and his sister’s best-friend who may plan weddings for a living, yet having being left at the alter herself, has sworn off men.
“They were practically two relationship-dysfunctional peas in a pod.”
I have to confess, the fauxmance trope isn’t one of my favourites and a deceased spouse can make or break a story for me, but Shirk does a fabulous job in bringing her reader a heartfelt romance between Wade and Arden as they fool the town that they’re dating, and have some fun together whilst doing so.
“I like a fiancée who plays hard to get.”
Whether at home or away, Catch Him If You Can is a perfect read for summer, or any season for that matter, and whilst the second in the Accidentally Yours series, can easily be read as a stand-alone. I won’t be leaving it so long before I read a Jennifer Shirk novel again
Veterinarian Wade Roberts doesn't want to fall in love again. After losing his wife to cancer, he's more than content running his veterinary clinic and having occasional relationships with women who know not to expect forever. Someone should tell that to the matchmaking ladies in town who keep sending marriage minded women his way. It's only gotten worse since his sister's engagement. Wade needs to do something to dissuade them before he's buried in baked goods and his clinic becomes the set of the next season of The Bachelor.
Wedding Planner Arden Pearson has her own crisis to deal with. Her business is in big trouble after one of her grooms quit his job and moved to the Bahamas in lieu of marrying his betrothed. When Wade approaches her about pretending to be his girlfriend, she turns him down. However, meeting with a huge potential client who would prefer to have a planner with personal experience planning a wedding, Arden changes her mind. Arden does have experience planning her own wedding--the groom just didn't show up, much like her recent Bahamas Bolter. Instead of admitting this, she approaches Wade with a deal: she'll get rid of the matchmakers and marriage minded women overrunning his waiting room if he'll help her land and keep the contract that could make or break her business. It's a win win arrangement between old friends. What could possibly go wrong?
I'm a huge fan of the tropes in Catch Him if You Can: fake fiancé and friends to lovers. In Shirk's capable hands, the tropes feel new and fresh. Usually I fall in love with the hero first. If I can identify with the heroine, I'm all in. In this book, though, I loved Arden from her introduction sassing Wade in the coffeeshop line. She was smart alecky and fun but with emotional depth that made me really root for her. Wade's character was swoon-worthy. He loves animals, can't bring himself to tell off the sweet old ladies who keep trying to fix him up, and he honors the commitments he makes, which is why he's so reticent to make them. He doesn't take commitment lightly, and that makes him the perfect guy for gun shy Arden, who, deep down, longs for someone who will follow through and commit to doing life with her.
This story got me in all of my feels. It was funny, and sweet, with shades of sadness that made the good stuff even better. The black moments were throw your book frustrating, but I couldn't put it down until I finished it. This isn't my first Jennifer Shirk book, and it most definitely won't be my last. I have to know what happens in the next book to the next heroine. I know Jennifer is going to give her a great happily ever after as well.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet friends to lovers romance with a healthy dose of fake fiancé that features characters you can root for from page one and wouldn't mind seeing again in the next book. This is the second book in a series, but it is standalone. If you'd like to read them in order, start with Bargaining with the Boss.
**I received a copy of Catch Him If You Can from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Catch Him If You Can by Jennifer Shirk is the second book in her Accidentally Yours series and even though this could be read as a stand alone I'd recommend reading the first book, Bargaining with the Boss as Arden's BFF is Kinsley plus she's Wade's sister also.
Wade Roberts has been a widow for a couple of years and is done with dating again after losing his wife to cancer. But the women in town have decided that he needs a girl friend and post on Facebook he's availability. As the town's Veterinarian this means those women and their pets decide that its time to bring their pets into the clinic to see him. But when he sees Arden at the Dip N' Sip he decides to concoct a fake engagement with her. But can two bruised souls get together to have their happily ever after?
Arden Pearson has hit a slump in her wedding planning business, Beach Brides Inc, with one almost groom becoming the Bahama Bolter. When the chance to plan THE wedding of the year for Milena Swenson, she'll have to find a fiance quickly in order to be able to convince her that Arden is the only one to plan her wedding. Enter Wade because it's simple, right? He needs a fake fiance and now so does Arden but when they start dating can they really see if their blossoming love for each other?
I give the book a solid 4 star but really miss the heat and sex scenes it's implied but never mentioned. But the story is a quick fluffy read and you won't be disappointed. I wonder whose book is next, maybe Elena and Chef Rick? After all when Elena's fiance changes his mind about marriage he does bring ice cream and cupcakes to help start healing her broken heart.
This was a well written and funny romance between two people who have known each other since childhood. Arden is Wade''s sisters bestie and he promised he'd never date her friends which is why even though he likes Arden a lot they never date. Until the town decides to end his bachelorhood and drives him crazy so he begs Arden to be his fake girlfriend. She turns him down at first and then makes him her fake fiancee.
If it sound funny and fun i totally is. I liked all the characters and this is small towns at its best. The only thing I did not love is how tied to Wade's former wife he is. That said it never gets in the way of his romance/friendship with Arden.
So a hunky veterinarian and a lovely wedding planner decide to pretend to be engaged. He needs to keep busy-body townspeople from throwing every single woman in town at him because they feel sorry for his being a widower. She needs to convince the mother of a very prestigious client that she is something...it’s not quite clear why anyone would care, but we need the plot point.
Although we all know that these two people ostensibly not interested in anything permanent will eventually fall in love, because this is a romance book - duh!, the clever dialogue between the two characters as they move from their habitual witty snark at one another to meaningful discussions of their pasts and Star Trek (which is always meaningful) to acknowledging that they are interested in more than a fake romance help this novel rise above the standard romance-novel tropes.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from the author; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
I love stories with dogs, they are just the best because they usually get up to something hilarious. Wade and Arden make the most adorable couple. I love Wade’s hot nerd persona and Arden’s cheeky personality. The story is wholesome and an overall funny depiction of a small community that looks out for each other.
I enjoyed this book. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. A new twist on a small town grapevine. This time they created a Facebook page so that people can update and inform the town of new information. The current project is to set up Wade Roberts, the town veterinarian. I just laughed. He needed a way to get around this so he enlisted the help of family friend Arden. The two of them agreed and let the fun begin. It is a second chance at finding true love.
Catch Him If You Can is a super good romance. Loved the plot and the cast of characters, two determined to remain single and meddling matchmakers. I highly recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this arc. This is my unbiased review.
We have a fake engagement and friends to lovers story. Wade is a widower and he is not ready to move on but he lives in a small town and the woman there do not leave him alone he is desperate for them to stop. He asks Arden his sisters best friend to play his fake girlfriend, and she thinks he is crazy but also feels that he needs to start living again. When a client of hers will only sign if she is in a committed relationship she asks Wade to agree since he needed her to but instead of girlfriend, she needs fake fiance. These two are attracted to each other but trying to fight it, until eventually what is fake turns real. Arden also had a difficult past since her fiance left her at the altar so you can see her reluctance but when she finally gives love a chance, he pulls back because he doesn't feel he can ever love again.
Catch Him if You Can was such a cute story! I loved it! It was predictable which I think the fake relationship to real relationship type stories usually are but that didn't stop me from reading it!
I loved the dynamic of Wade and Arden! I loved the push and pull! I caught myself saying aww or laughing out loud quite a bit. This was my first book by Jennifer Shirk and I'm looking forward to reading more from her!
*I received this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest review
I was laughing while reading chapter one... I was hooked! Poor Wade had so many CRAZY women vying for his attention! Lol!
Wade’s wife died 4 years ago and he’s not ready to date. Arden, his sister’s BFF, was stood up at the alter several years ago and is married to her work.
These two decide to pretend become engaged so women will leave him alone and so she can gat a big client. Win win!
The lines get blurred and they begin to date for real (while engaged for pretend).
I was so happy!
Then I was sad.
Then I was happy again!
Great book!
This is my first book by this author. Seems to be part of a series, but can be read on its own.
I found a new romance author! I enjoy a sweet happily ever after every now and again between my psychological thrillers but they are hard to find! Usually they are a cliche of over the top characters who have large amounts of instantly incredible sex. I want them to have families, friendships, jobs, interests. A little drama and sex is good too!
Arden and Wade were great fun! Her sense of humor made me laugh too. Their dialogue was entertaining and realistic sounding. Their relationships with others rounded them out as characters.
This was the second book in a series but can be read as a stand alone. I will be going back for the first and future ones as well! Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Entangled Publishing, LLC for a copy in exchange for an a honest review.
