a 3.5-star rating for Catch him if you can. This was a really enjoyable story about two people who are adamant – each for their own reason – about staying single. But when one becomes the sole ‘project’ of the townspeople to find him a nice woman and the other gets compromised at work when she tells an A-list client she’s engaged – which she is not, of course – these two find friendship and love when they least expect it, when they ‘team up’ to play fake fiancées to one another.
A recipe for disaster when both of them have known each other their whole lives and are discovering they work really well together right? Old feelings are stirring and new ones are blossoming in this really cute contemporary romance book, filled with joy and romance.
I loved the fact that our male lead is this really cute geek-like veterinarian – gotta love men who love animals! - and reading his thoughts and reactions to everything happening in this book was a joy to read. I love his humor and sarcasm. And our female lead is this sassy businesswoman who knows what she wants and who’ll do everything in her power to keep her company ‘alive’. And then she finds out that she was wrong all along about wanting to stay single and that she Does want to have her HAE someday, even if that means its not with Wade Roberts, her fake fiancée, who she falls in love with during their perfectly executed ‘scheme’.
I loved the banter between these two characters and they both felt so extremely right for one another. This was such a fun couple to read about and I always love the ‘fake relationship/fiancee’ trope a lot and the author did a great way of writing this one I think. I love how they have a bit of a friendship already and that this friendship grows and ultimately ends up in love. It was a beautifully developed romance. And seriously: can I get myself a Wade Roberts as well, pretty please? *dreamily sigh* You really need to read about him, because he’s such a great and lovable character.
Minor remarks; The story-line was quite predictable though - but the fill'up was neatly done and the characters are lovable so that's to be forgiven then I think - and I kind of missed the sex scenes, to be honest. Don’t get me wrong; I didn’t need any specific details or anything but there’s this build-up between these characters and when the moment is supposed to happen, the story-line jumps forward a couple of hours and it felt a bit ‘unstatisfying’, lol. I think it would’ve been better if there, at least, had been a global written scene, you know?

Overall, this was a cute, fun, light-hearted and fast-paced read which I ended up rating 3.5 stars. It’s perfect for when you’re in need of a book that doesn’t contain a lot of drama, with likable characters and addictive writing. It’s that kind of book you pick up and want to read in one sitting. I’m really excited to read the first book in the series and I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Most of the women in town try to catch Wade, but it’s long-time friend Arden who has the best chance of all. In order to avoid the town matchmakers and single women, Wade cooks up a scheme with Arden to fake date. When the governor’s wife is hesitant to let Arden plan her daughter’s wedding if she hasn’t been married or engaged herself, Arden takes it up a notch by suggesting the she and Wade go from fake dating to being fake fiancés. Much to their surprise, they actually fall in love!
Catch Him If You Can is the second book in this series. I am for sure going back now and reading the first one but honestly this book can be read as a stand alone. I just loved Wade he had been dealt a really bad hand in life because he lost his first wife to cancer. From that moment on he decided not to love anyone else because it hurt too much to lose them. So he kept his heart closed off. Arden was a wedding planner and also has not had the best past. She was left standing at the altar when her groom was a no show. Arden loves planning other peoples happily ever afters but has decided that perhaps she is not meant to have hers. Wade and Arden have know each other for a long time because Arden is Wade's sisters best friend. She has had a crush on Wade since high school Wade comes up with a plan to keep the towns busy bodies from playing match maker for him. He wants Arden to be his pretend girlfriend.. Arden turns him down flat, that is until she needs a pretend fiance. Together the two of them devise a plan to each help the other out. What they didn't expect was sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants. I loved this story and everything about it. It was a really great read about small town life and the lengths that people will go to in order to help someone else out. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wade needs a fake girlfriend to get the town matchmakers off his back and Arden needs a fake fiancé to land a wedding account and save her business. They both are not interested in anything permanent and that makes them perfect to help each other out. What could possibly go wrong ?
I absolutely loved reading Catch him if you can. It was fun, flirty, with witty banter and sizzling chemistry. The story just flowed and I read it in one go. Loved the characters and can’t wait to read Elena’s book.
After the passing of his wife, Wade Roberts has sworn off love. There is no way he'll ever put his heart out there again. He'd be setting himself up to be crushed. No one should have to go through what he went through. He dates but the women know going into it that nothing serious will ever happen between them.
After being left at the alter, Arden Pearson came to the conclusion that she's not cut out for the long term, happily ever after kind of love. But just because she isn't cut out for marriage doesn't mean she can't give other couples their dream wedding.
So what happens when meddlesome matchmakers stick their noses too far into Wade's love life and a runaway groom starts to jeopardize Arden's company's reputation? They come up with a plan that will be beneficial to both of them... a fake relationship. Neither Wade nor Arden are looking for anything serious, so there really isn't anything that can go wrong... or so they think.
The more time they spend together, the closer they become. When Arden realizes that she has fallen in love with Wade, she's torn. She knew going into this relationship what the outcome would be. But she owes it to herself and Wade to see if something real can come out of their fake relationship. But will Wade stick to the original plan of breaking up? Or will he open his eyes to see what's standing right in front of him and risk his heart again for a HEA?
*dreamy sigh*
Can I just say how much I loved Arden and Wade?! Between their sizzling chemistry and their witty banter, they had me routing for them from the very beginning! I think everyone but them saw how perfect they were for each other. They were such a fun couple! I had a hard time putting this book down once I started it. It was SO good!
This is such a fun series! I am definitely enjoying it! I'm really looking forward to Elena's book!
Ms. Shirk is definitely a favorite of mine. I always look forward to reading her books. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!
Enjoyable but short read.
Fast paced and entertaining. I liked how the book is told from the points of view of both Wade and Arden.
Looking forward to reading more from this author
Catch Him If You Can, was a lot of fun to read. Who doesn't like a good fake fiance story. Both Arden and Wade benefits from the white lie. The fact that they've been friends for years makes a relationship between them easier. And made this book a page turner..
I've really come to love the whole "fake relationship" troupe and thought this was one of the best ones I've read so far. Wade and Arden have known each other for a long time and their reasons for faking a relationship seemed realistic and I liked how it was written. They have a natural chemistry that just jumps off the pages. The story really unfolded in smooth, believable stages which kept me glued to the pages wondering how things were going to play out.
This was definitely a fun, well written story with very likable characters and a very swoony romance. Overall, it had everything I look for in a book! This has been such a fun series, I can't wait to read the next book.
I started reading Catch Him If You Can as soon as it hit my Kindle!
The second in the Accidentally Yours series, it follows Wade and Arden, the brother and friend of Kinsley from the first book. Wade is a veterinarian and widower who is tired of the town trying to set him up. Arden is a wedding planner who just told a little like to land a big couple for her business. The solution to both their problems is to fake an engagement, but what happens if feelings begin to become real?
I really enjoyed Wade and Arden's story. They were adorable together, and I especially liked Wade's geeky side that came out every now and again. It was nice, too, they they each respected the other from the get go. The dual narration was perfect for really understanding the characters.
The story moves at a good pace. It reminded me of a fun rom-com movie, and if you are looking for a sweet romance with some humor, I know you'll love it too!
Loved this book! This is a wonderful book that opens with Wade, a widower and veterinarian, being pursued by what seems like every single woman in town. Apparently, some of the town's nosy and interfering folks have announced that he is looking for love. Too bad that he is still grieving his late wife and has no interest in finding love again. Arden doesn't believe believe in love or happily ever after for herself....an odd affliction for a wedding planner. They find themselves in a fake relationship to solve both of their problems, but then it starts to feel real...
The author created characters that I cared about and made me feel invested in their story -I wanted them to get their HEA ending. I couldn't put the book down and found myself flipping pages just as quickly as possible.
Fans of the genre will love this book and want to put it at the top of their TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all.
