Melissa Foster is a new to me author, and I really enjoyed Love Like Ours. By reading the description, I knew the book was going to tackle a serious topic, Alzheimer’s. What I didn’t expect was the completely realistic portrayal of Derek’s life as a caretaker. Generally in romance books things are exaggerated, or under exaggerated in order to make the story fit, but that is not what you get here. It was refreshing, but at the same time it was a little heavy at times and I found myself easily distracted, I think in part to try to escape the realness of the story. I don’t not like heavy topic storylines, but they aren’t my go to. I like to escape from reality when I read. But in cases like this when the story is so well written that it is realistic, it’s a catch 22.
Tally and Derek were wonderful characters. They balance each other nicely, but both were great on their own. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing them in the future.
I liked it. It started out slow but it turned out to be a heartwarming story of love, devotion and selflessness.
Derek takes care of his dad who suffers from Alzheimer's while Tallie shys away from relationships and to an extent, people.
He brings her out of her shell and she gives him the acceptance and reassurance that he needs. I enjoyed the storyline for what it was.
This a love story of a chance in counter. Derek and Talia have a unique love story. Derek wasn’t exactly dealt the best cards with his fathers health and so his time was limited for dating. This is an incredible story of love, personal growth and family.
Melissa Foster's Love Like Ours was adorable! I absolutely loved the characters and their dynamic and I seriously want to see the book of cartoons that Derek drew!
MELISSA FOSTER is a wonderful storyteller! Love Like Ours is a sweet romance that covers a serious medical condition. Alzheimer's is an insidious disease that affects not only the patient, but the entire family. Melissa Foster handles this topic with grace and dignity. I loved the family dynamic and the relationships in the story. This story.is definitely one to read!
I love Melissa Foster’s books but I did not think this was up to her normal standard.
This story is about Derek and Talia. Talia is a teacher and Derek is a qualified accountant, masters degree student, part time barman and “dancer”. The combination was a little too much for me and I found it difficult to equate this to his character. I did however think Melissa’s account of Derek's father's fight with early onset Alzheimer's disease really compelling. Worth a read but lacked depth.

This is the third of the Sugar Lake series by Melissa Foster that centers around the Dalton family. Talia Dalton is a reserved college professor. She was burned in college by a cheating jerk, so she is wary of relationships. While driving to work, she almost runs over Derek Grant. Derek is a man that wears many hats. Derek had been an accountant until his father developed early onset Alzheimer’s. He is now working as a bartender and male dancer, which makes more money and gives him flexibility to take care for his father. He is also going back to school to get his masters. He really doesn’t have time for a relationship, but he is smitten.
This is the third book in the Sugar Lake series, which follows the Dalton siblings and this one is about Talia Dalton. This will be SPOILER FREE and first off, this is a cute follow up to the other books. This book does deal with some hard topics but, I think they were really discussed well.
Great story!
I really enjoyed Derek and Talia story. It was nice to see the differences between them and that doesn't stop them from getting to know each other.
It was a different book than others from Melissa Foster but that for me was what I enjoyed most, reading the perspective of caretakers, it was a nice change. I really liked how the characters behave.
Overall, it was a very nice book, which I enjoyed.

First off, leave me just say how much I love this series by Melissa Foster. I have fallen in love with all of the characters and Talia and Derek are no exception. Derek is devoted to taking care of his father and works as a bar tender and male dancer. Talia is a straight laced college professor who doesn't take any chances in life. I absolutley loved Talia and Derek's relationship and the support they had for each other. I enjoyed watching Talia grow and experience new things with Derek. I'm so glad that she ended up with someone who could see the real Talia. I cannot wait until the next book in this series.
First book I have read by this author and I really enjoyd it.
College professor Talia meets Derek when she nearly runs him over one day.
They are both attracted to each other, but she is quick to judge him based on what she thinks she knows. But as she gets to know him she falls for him even more.

Talia went from a woman going through the motions to one who really lived life to the fullest. This is a delightful romance. I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley for my honest review.
Talia has always been the studious, smart girl who put other people and family first. With a lackluster love life, Talia thinks she is never going to find her one true love and shut down her sisters involvement. In a freak parking accident she literally almost runs into a beautiful man with blue eyes and long dark hair, who she cannot stop thinking about but knows he is not her type. But even though Derek is a male dancer who strips down to a g-string on stage the two connect in more ways than she ever imagined. But will his responsibilities to his ailing father and her thoughts of dating a stripper be the two things that can keep them apart? Or will the inner ideals of who they really are and not what they do for a living be the items they hold onto to get their HEA? This book was so beautifully written. The characters were so well developed and the subject matter done so well that this is a must read. I was hooked from the opening pages and could not put it down. I absolutely love this series!!

First off, I love Melissa Foster. She's an amazing author and she has some of the best romance books out there. Next, this wasn't my favorite book she has ever written nor is it my least favorite either. It starts off with a funny, intense moment when Talia meets her guy, Derek, however the book then becomes extremely slow and hard to get into. The characters are amazing and you will see some returning favorites.
Derek definitely stole the show with this book. He's extremely complex. He's a 'student', a bartender, a male dance (not stripper). He takes care of his father who has early onset Alzheimer's disease. On a side note, I know how painful that can be and probably why I click with this character. Other people may not like him as much but I certainly hope they do.
I really liked the book and recommend it to anyone who loves Melissa Foster. it is a part of a series so you definitely need to read those first. Not as you can't understand the plot without them but you miss out on a lot of background.
I am a HUGE fan of Melissa Foster and her books. Love Like Ours was a little different from her others. Talia and Derek had a different relationship. She is a college professor and he is a bartender and male dancer. He is taking care of his dad who is fighting Alzheimer's Disease.
Call me crazy, but when reading his book. all I could think of was Ross from Friends and how he dated his student. LOL!
I really enjoyed this story about Derek and Talia and how they both deal with Derek's father's fight with early onset Alzheimer's disease. There was great support for each other and from Talia's family. However, I have to be honest in that I had a very hard time accepting that Derek was a part time "dancer" who stripped down to his g-string and accepted money for it. He was also a part time bartender and a graduate student finishing up his Master's degree too but I just found it difficult to visualize this relationship between Derek and Talia.. Overall, this was a good but not great book by Melissa Foster.

Great book. I enjoyed the story of Talia and Derek. Talia is a more reserved person than Derek, she lives life more carefully, where as Derek is a bartender and male dancer. He has the long hair, killer body and knows how to work it. Talia is a college professor that has been hurt really bad by a cheating ex. Derek works, goes to college and takes care of his Dad that has Alzheimers. These two couldn't be more opposite but I've always heard opposites attract. Talia met Derek met when she almost ran him over in the parking lot, and things went from there. Talia soon sees another side of Derek once they start spending time together. Can she trust him or is he just like her ex?
I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.
This is Talia and Derek book, Talia is a professor and Derek is a bartender, stri... Uh male dancer lol , and caretaker to his sick father. Talia is rushing to work and takes her eyes off the road for a second and almost hits Derek! Derek isn't one of Talia students but he can't get her off his mind so he sits in her class until he can get her to go out with him! She won't date one of her students but luckily he isn't in her class! This book was very well written and was a good story also, it definitely was a little sad for my taste though! She focuses a lot on Derek dad's illness which is fine but definitely heartbreaking so if you like a tearjerker this book is for you! Thank you NetGalley and Montlake publishers for sharing this book with me!!
