As much as I wanted to like this book, I just couldn't get it into it. It never picked up for me. Was pretty slow.
The twist in this book was amazing and totally unexpected. I enjoyed this book and got engrossed in all of the characters. Overall, it’s a strong 4 stars.
No PlCe Like Home is different than the books I usually read. It was a good change. Clever, twisted and surprising. I'd recommend this to readers who like thrillers with surprise endings.
Its difficult to review this and not give any spoilers so I’ll just say that I enjoyed the twisty plot and the twisted characters 😊
How could one be fooled by someone and feel for them.? Well, I fell for it. I enjoyed the book more and more with each chapter. I never imagined who the culprit was. Great mystery, good characters and a fast read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book the story was dark and intriguing if you enjoy phycological thriller's this is the book for you
This book will truly mess with your mind. Why won't Jacob go away and leave Polly to enjoy her new home? Oh how I wish I could discuss this but you need to read it and see how twisted it is for yourself. Enjoy!
Great book with an interesting plot. Awesome characters and I didn't see a lot of it coming. I kept wanting to read more. Highly recommend.
I found it confusing how the book kept jumping from past to present , and for that reason I thought it was just an ok-ish book
From the first half of the book, I wasn't initially sure I was going to like it. There were lots of hints that something had happened to make Polly feel unsafe but it takes a while for this to really start being unpicked. And when it does, it suddenly becomes a gripping and compulsive read. I had mixed emotions about Polly's characters which continued to change as the plot unfolded - massive thumbs up to the author for putting together such a complex character! By the time I got to the end, my head was spinning but in a good way. Highly recommend! I read it in an afternoon and evening as I just couldn't put it down in the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book in return for an honest review.
"There's no place like home." Your home should be your sanctuary and when Polly comes home one night and sees a shadow on the upper level of her home, fear kicks in. The story is told from Polly's point of view with flashbacks to fill in the story. It turns out that she knows Jacob and as the story continues it fleshes out how Polly and Jacob know one another. Through twists and turns we come to a surprise ending.
It's hard to review this book without giving away spoilers and ruining the story.
This book is one of those that makes you wonder from page one until the end, on how and what exactly will happen. It was written very well. I thought the way it was brought into play engaged the reader and excited them to find out more, have used in a daily challenge and will be recommending to members of Chapter Chatter Pub.
No Place Home is the twistiest book I think I’ve read in a long while.
Polly Cooke is 35 years old and has just acquired her first home, she can’t wait to move all her belongings out of her shared residence and start planning all the renovations to make this her perfect home. This is where I leave it as you definately have to come in blind with this thriller as any hint from me is going to spoil it for you.
This is a book I started off liking then it did get a little stagnant and repetitive but then whoosh this knocks you of your feet whole while the twists just keep unfolding. I have to say I wasn’t a fan of the altering time frames and had to be careful at times what I was reading as it did sometimes just change without warning but the storyline more than made up for this.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bloodhound Books for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book and Polly Clarke. Great storyline that had me hooked right to the end. Would highly recommend to other readers
Not my cup of tea. The story outline is good but each chapter is repetitive. Kept hoping it would move forward but gave up half way in.
I was on edge from the beginning. Scared, actually, the further I read. And the tension shifted and twisted with each chapter — to the point where I thought, “nope, never having my own place again.”
Once I started reading it, I couldn’t stop: like the car crash that you JUST can’t stop looking at.
What I didn’t like was the jumping back and forth in time! I get it, and it was necessary I suppose, but I’ve never like books that do this.
Polly Cooke wants nothing more than to live a quiet house in her new home, but while walking home she sees someone is in her house. Who could it be and why she wonders.
A suspense filled read that keeps you wondering what is going on. A page turner that keeps you guessing until the end. I started reading this one morning and finished it that night.
For other thrillers I have read lately, this book had me guessing and the storyline was unique. Polly was a very interesting character that i enjoyed reading about. Very bold story
"There's no place like home... There's no place like home... There's no place like home"
That's what you tell yourself in the safety of your own home. Or when you are stuck at work and are wishing you were back in your cozy bed, right? So what if your home isn't safe anymore? What if someone else was in your home or trying to take your home away from you? What if you didn't deserve to have your home anymore? Nothing about this book is what it seems, from beginning to end. As a thriller, that's a great thing. I like to be kept guessing and I like being surprised and thrown curve balls. All of that occurs with this book. When I read the synopsis of the book I was very excited to read it. However, the book left me somewhat disappointed.
Here's why --> First, the book jumps from past to present to past again and this transition is somewhat confusing the way it's written. This is a popular format that authors write in and it can be successful, but in the case of this book I feel that transition muddied up the storyline too much. Instead of adding more depth to the book it left me frustrated. Second, the book doesn't really get going until you are about 2/3 of the way through it. Once it gets going, it goes fast but I feel that is too long to make me wait for the thrill. And lastly, I really didn't like the main character Polly, or some of the other characters for that matter. This can either make for a great book or make you dislike the book. And when I factor this in with my first two reasons, I was left more disappointed.
I gave this book a rating of 3 stars because I felt the storyline was unique in regards to some of the thrillers I have read lately. And as I said earlier, it will have you guessing, it will surprise you and it will throw you some curveballs. I couldn't give it a higher rating because of the reasons I stated above.
My thanks to Rebecca Muddiman, Bloodhound Books and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
No Place Like Like Home is about a woman named Polly who, just bought her dream house. But is she safe? You won’t want to put this book down! Very suspenseful. I didn’t see a lot of the action coming.
