Susan May Warren never disappoint. Throughly enjoy reading about this wonderful family and this was another wonderful story.
This was the conclusion to this series that we’ve all been waiting for, and it was worth the wait. Full of drama and suspense, this story did not disappoint. I have to admit that I was beginning to get a just a tiny bit tired of the Jess/Pete storyline and all the angst they were putting each other through. However, the ending to the story was exciting and suspenseful and that made it all worthwhile. I love Susan May Warren’s books, and I’ll be eagerly waiting for the next one.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
I have a horrible habit of putting off reading the last book in a series I've loved because then that would mean there are no more books to look forward to. Completely irrational, since I know the author has another exciting series coming. All the books have been full of adventure, action, and angst, and this one is no different. Pete and Jess have provided some of the relationship drama in the previous books, and it was satisfying for them to finally grow, communicate, and have a resolution. They had quite the build-up! There is also a romance between Esme/Shea and a young man she met in the previous book, which gave us a nice break from the Pete and Jess drama. The murder case involving Esme's friend also comes to an end with the unexpected villain made known and it brought the elements of suspense and danger to the plot. It was nice to have everything wrapped up, and I'm ready for some fresh love stories from the author!

I have been patiently waiting for this newest book in the Montana Rescue series. (Okay, it’s more like I’ve been chomping at the bit for the author to hurry up and finish writing this book) I couldn’t wait to find out what was going on with Pete and Jess and see what was going to happen to Eseme. So I was thrilled when I noticed I could request a free copy on NetGalley and agreed to give my honest opinion of the book.
I have to admit, it was worth the wait. The author tied up all of the loose ends very nicely and even added a few new characters to add to the riveting tension of this last installment of the Montana Rescue Series. I’m really going to miss these characters.
I don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll just tell you that the plot was fantastic, the characters are very believable. I think a person could pick up a copy of this book, even if they haven’t read the other books in the series, and be completely happy with the book and not be lost. Having said that, I think if you read the books in order from Wild Montana Skies (the first book in the series) all the way through to Wait For Me you get soooo much more out of it.
You get to meet all of the characters and get all of the back story and that makes this story all the better. Here’s a link to Wild Montana Skies if you’d like to check it out. https://amzn.to/2EbRmKE
If you enjoy “inspirational romantic suspense”, you will enjoy this book. If you choose to get this series I hope you’ll let me know what you think of it. Here’s the Amazon kindle link for Wait For Me. https://amzn.to/2EeHQqf
When Pete hears that Jess is missing, he doesn't think twice about going out to find her. Because that is what love does. It rescues with no thought of cost or whether the love will be returned. Though it wasn't pointed out specifically in the book, as I read about his desperate search for her, I couldn't help but think about the scripture that talks about how the Good Shepherd will leave the ninety-nine sheep who are safe to go find the one who is lost. My entire picture of that passage changed from a view of a relatively simple search to one more like the kind of search that went on in this book - through perilous circumstances, sacrificing everything to save the lost sheep. Wow. Because the things Jesus went through to rescue me weren't easy or simple.
In case you haven't figure it out yet, I was profoundly touched by this story. The sacrificial kind of love shown by Pete, who had no hope of having his love returned, was also shown by Ned. Ned first appeared in Storm Front and he returns in this story to see if the attraction he felt was returned. And in the process is severely injured along with Jess and the love of his life. As they escape from the kidnapper, he fights through his pain to carry his love, who is now close to death, to whatever safety they can find. (I don't want to reveal her name in case you haven't started the series yet - that could be a spoiler.)
Every page I turned had another twist. Each time they thought they were safe, they found out they weren't. Floods, kidnappings, attempted murder, jealousy. Yep. It is all here, and more.
With the stories from the previous novels being so closely linked to this one, it was necessary for the author to do some recapping. She did a marvelous job in providing the backstory in such a way that it flowed and didn't feel even remotely like an information dump. It seriously may have been the best I've ever seen. In addition, details from the past year from both Pete and Jess' lives were needed to be revealed and again, the way that was done was masterful.
This was an amazing conclusion to an already thrilling series!
The story line just didn't grab me like I expected. The on again/off again romance between Pete and Jess was just unbelievable. She doesn't take his calls after agreeing to marry him, for no apparent reason. Then, he blocks her phone number? Strange behavior for two adults.
There is some excitement and tense moments in the story as the sheriff, Blackburn, is out to kill Shae, who has been in hiding for five years.
Regrettably, this story just didn't grab me. Much of it felt like middle school drama.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Susan May Warren penned a very satisfying conclusion to her Montana Rescue series. I loved Pete and Jess's story and the heart-racing adventure that went along with it. So sad that the series is over.
This book has amazing reviews which made me try it. I have not read the previous books which could be why I could not get into this book.
I quit around the 30% mark.
I felt bad for Pete. Pete who has had him heart stomped on several times by Jess.
Jess I felt was annoying and a bit self centered. She’s engaged to another man and even though she claims they are not?!?! Where has she been this past year?? Why didn’t she treat Pete better when he went to New York or to Paris???
Ya, not the book for me.
Maybe it gets better, but I feel I barely made it this far. The concept of the book was excellent though.
This is the 6th book of the series. Many times, it is my opinion that series get bogged down by trying to keep up with previous characters. Sometimes, so much so, that the supposed main characters of the book do not get their time in the spotlight. This did not happen with the final installment of the Montana Rescue series. I liked the book and had been waiting for Pete and Jess's story but was not wowed by it all. Even so, I will always read Susan May Warren's books!
Wait for Me – Susan May Warren
Where do I even begin? Warren is one of my favorite authors and her books never disappoint me. This series is just fantastic and every time a book comes out, I drop what I’m doing and read it virtually in one sitting. I also seem to get a little sad when the series finishes because the stories are so well written that I feel like I am friends with all the characters.
This story is the last of the Montana Rescue series and it follows Jess and Pete, two characters who have been through so much throughout all the other books, this is finally their ending. Warren did a great job writing through the eyes of each character, explaining the angst and the emotion behind what drives each character to do what they did. We’ve been rooting for these two since the beginning and we finally get to see the ending that stays true to who they are. Just a great series full of suspense and mystery throughout all six books.
I really hope Warren starts a new series soon, I can’t wait to read another book.

It's sad to see a series end but Susan May Warren did an excellent job on this one. This is Pete and Jess' story but also Ned and Shae/Esme's story. It's definitely a wild ride with some plot twists that you didn't see coming. The story starts out action packed and continues to the very end and all the lose ends from previous books are tied up. Excellent conclusion, can't wait to see what Susan will bring to us next.
This is the 6th book in this series. I have enjoyed the whole series. This story has strong characters and a very good mystery. I hate to see the end of this series.

I’m just going to say it. I loved, loved, Wait For Me, by Susan May Warren. It might even be my favorite book from the Montana Rescue series. Bad boy turned search-and-rescue hero, Pete Brooks, is weary by the work he’s so good at. And he’s wearied by the uncertainties in the relationship-gone-south he had with the woman he loves. All he wants is to figure out how to move on from the only woman he’s ever truly loved.
Rich girl and medic Jess Tagg has spent a year trying to be all that her family needs, sacrificing her own needs, and her relationship with the man she thought was her perfect match. When she goes back to Montana for a friend’s wedding reception, she runs into Pete Brooks. After a fight, she does what she can to get away from him, never expecting to be kidnapped and injured.
This story had me gripped from the opening page. Warren keeps the action and the tension taut throughout the story. And, in her amazing way, she weaves in a beautiful story of love redeemed.
I loved the setting of this story. Warren’s way of drawing me in was so vivid. I could picture where the characters were. I heard the river, and other things. I felt the cold nights.
The twists and the surprises made this story a “can’t-put-down” one for me. I loved that I couldn’t easily predict what was coming. And just when I thought I had things figured out? Something unexpected happened, and then I had to read on to learn how it resolved.
And the ending? It may have had me shedding a happy tear. Or ten. So satisfying.
If you enjoy books with real, flawed but likeable characters mixed in with action and adventure? You’ve got to read Wait For Me.
**I was provided with an e-copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Pete Brooks is shocked when after waiting for Jess Taggert for a year, she returns to Montana engaged to her ex. A series of on the job accidents are making him question his career. But he just can't get Jess out of his head.
Jess Taggert returns to Montana and to Pete, but he doesn't seem to care for her anymore. Jess is the daughter of a man who ran a scam that cheated many of their life savings, and back in New York she's drawn to her old life, and agrees to a fake engagement to please her dying mother. After a fight with Pete she hitches a ride with Esme and Ned, they find themselves crashed on the side of the road, then taken captive by a villain with murderous intent.
Now PEAK must race against the clock to save Jess, Ned and Esme before it's too late.
Esme is Ian's niece, he'd been searching for her for years. Esme is tired of running so she's returned home. In this book we get to also see a lot more of Esme and Ned's relationship, they met in a previous book. All three of them work together for their survival. And Esme listens to Jess and helps her understand a few things and get her priorities straight.
Ned is determined and stronger than he thinks he is, he dreams of becoming a SEAL but sells himself short always comparing himself to his brother. He is courageous with a strong sense of duty.
Pete wants to forget about Jess, but he is still determined to see her safe. He likes the man that he is with her.
Full of fast paced action and the 6th in the Montana Rescue Series, this book brings plenty of drama, romance, and survival adventure. I loved catching up with previous main characters and getting to know newer ones better, though there is isn't much interaction between Pete and Jess due to them not being able to be together due to the circumstances. A great conclusion to the series that included all of my favorite characters!

I have truly enjoyed each of the books in the Montana Rescue series! We have been waiting a long time for Pete Brook's official story, haven't we? And it is finally here.
Pete may not have a perfectly innocent past, but since he has been in love with Jess Tagg, a more dedicated man you would be hard pressed to find. No one can say he doesn't always at least try to do the "right thing", and his bravery knows few boundaries.
Jess Tagg, aka Selene Taggart, has been sucked back into her (on the surface) fairy tale world and seems happy; but anyone who has lived for 10 minutes as an adult will know that appearances don't always tell the whole story.
When Jess (along with Shae and Ned) is essentially kidnapped from Ben and Kacey's wedding reception, Pete will stop at nothing to find her. The challenge is, who is behind it all? Who is the real target? And who can they possibly trust?
As I typically note when reviewing a book in a series, your experience will always be enhnced by reading the books in order; for this series we are in pretty deep. I suppose this one could technically be read as a stand alone.....but for this series in particular, too many mysteries were solved along the way and if you don't read them in order you will sincerely lose much of the fun.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, in exchange for my honest review.
Ahhhh, the end of a series. There's something nice about the closure you get when a series is over. Can I just say, I've been waiting for Pete and Jess's story forEVER!!! (Why yes I can, it is my review after all).
In a lot of these books, communication, or lack thereof, has been such a pitfall for the characters. Funny, but I'd say this was especially the case for Ben & Kacey and Pete & Jess. I mean, it makes for drama, but sometimes I want to shake people and say, "JUST TALK TO ONE ANOTHER!!!"
This is kind of a theme in the books I've read lately, but characters are marked so strongly by an event in their past, childhood or youth, generally, and it affects how they live their adult lives. It guides their decisions and their fears, whether they know it or not.
Again with the creepy villain who everyone thought was a decent, upstanding citizen. Yeesh!
Wait for Me is book 6 in the Montana Rescue series by Susan May Warren. I did not read any of the previous 5 books and I am wondering now if the book would have been better had I read them. The book can be read without reading the others but there are a lot of seemingly developed characters and backstory that one might need to know. The author does a good job of filling in the questions by adding a lot of pertinent backstory right in the book which is helpful. The story is high energy for sure. Once I got to about 40% in it picked up and was hard to put down. I finished the last half in an afternoon. The beginning started a little rocky for me, but this could have been because I didn't read the other books. I had trouble keeping all the people straight. The snippets about each character at the beginning were short and kind of quick moving so it was hard to separate them all and remember who was who. I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish the book. I started to catch on though and kept going... and I was glad I did. I did have some trouble with some disjointed sections. For example, when the car leaves the wedding and they all of a sudden are getting plowed off the road? Where did that come from? It seemed totally out of left field. It might have been less jarring had there been some kind of bridge into it... maybe the occupants of the car thought they were being followed which led to a little bit of a chase or something. Instead it was so sudden it was a bit unnatural. The other part that I struggled with was when they would jump back in time and tell some backstory. There was no differentiation. I had to go back and reread to find out what was going on. It might have been helpful if there was something there to warn the reader that they were hopping back in time. The Christian references were subtle but timely. Overall the story was great. The details were well written and the characters were developed well. I would love to go back and read the other books in the series when I have time.
I received a copy of this book from Revell. This has in no way influenced my review. I was under no compulsion to write a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
This was kind of a bittersweet ending to a wonderful series. I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters.
I was happy to get closure on many things from this series. Both in love and also in some of the suspense. But to be honest, this wasn't my favorite in the series. The action wasn't as heart stopping for me this time.
But I did love the love story. Pete has always been wonderful and I'm glad he found closure in this book.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Reading Wait for Me, by Susan May Warren, is very much like taking a raft down a river. It has a nice flow to it - a current - but every once in a while we get to some white water rapids, so hold on to your seat - you’re in for a bumpy ride! I don’t mean that in a negative way. In this book, just when you see things smoothing out, Warren throws in another bump. And then another. You get my point.
I found this story unique with the number of switchbacks in it. Not only does the plot take a number of twists, but even the established relationships between some of the characters get jumbled around with all the bumps.
Why Wait for Me is so Bumpy!
This is the sixth and final book in the Montana Rescue Series. I did not read any of the first five novels in the series. I started with this one. Thus, I don’t know whether all the books are this bumpy, or if Warren saved the best bumps for last, so to speak.
It’s quickly apparent that the characters have been together for a number of adventures. Relationships are already established, and the characters are well defined. Most of the characters are in the rescue business, so the abundance of story action was appreciated. However, Warren left a lot of headroom for romance.
There are a number of “backstory moments,” where characters remember love and adventures gone by. I imagine this is the author’s way of making this final book in the series a stand alone novel, meaning you don’t have to read the previous five to understand and enjoy it. Susan May Warren was very successful in that attempt. I did enjoy the story, and it does stand on it’s own.
HOWEVER - I do wish I could have read the other books in the series before reading this one. This story was very good, and it kept me fully engaged, but I think I could have enjoyed it even more if I read the stories before they became backstories. Does that make sense?
Some action stories have some romance, and some romance stories have some action, but this story has a lot of both! That’s what I enjoyed the most about it. If you love romance, you’ll be satisfied, and if you love action, you’ll be content. But regardless of which element you like the most, you’ll find enough bumps in the plot to keep you off balance.
Technically Speaking
I did come across a few SPAG problems. Thankfully, the problems weren’t nearly as plentiful as the bumps. Thus, they didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story.
The pacing was sort of stop and go. This was not only necessary to include a sufficient amount of backstory, but it also helped to round out the characters as we read of their innermost thoughts and desires.
The character arcs were a little strange. They were there, but they certainly weren’t smooth. Again with the bumps. I thought I knew where a character would be going, and then something would change with the character.
This leads us to “climax central” in the final chapter. I don’t really want to say too much about it, because I’d have to include a spoiler or two. However, I will say that it was worth all the bumps and twists!
I hope you give this book a try. You’ll enjoy it!
With this book, Wait For Me, I've reached the ending of this exciting series!
This is Pete & Jess' story, and it is an exhilarating ride!
They've been engaged, then not engaged, so many times, they've almost lost track if they are or they aren't. And even though they've kind of lost touch with each other, deep in their hearts, they both know they won't ever really love anyone else.
So...they meet again, after a long silence. They fight. And then...
Jess disappears, and Pete is thrown into the most desperate SAR of his life.
Romance. Danger. Suspense. Thrills.
And then there's the characters you will have come to know and love (if you've read the entire series). They are so incredibly realistic and lovable.
I hated to reach the end of this book because I've thoroughly enjoyed the ride that was the Montana Rescue stories.
